Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Well, Halloween 2017 certainly hit Springfield with a thud yesterday! A magical event has arrived in our towns, but of course it wasn’t without it’s inital problems. Thankfully the questline bugs are patched and we’re ready to conjure up some fantastic spells in Springfield!
For Act 1 of Halloween you’re tasked with working your way through the introduction fo all things magical…including wizard studies, trolls, goblin “gold” and fantastic beasts!
As was mentioned on the run down post Act 1 of Halloween runs until October 1th (when Act 2 will start), and you’ll need Lisa and Homer to get things started.
Don’t forget the Questline will help you get some bonus prize currency…so make sure you complete it to earn that extra currency…also the questline is there to guide you. Make sure you complete the main questline in order to unlock things like neighbor actions, crafting and more.

Well, I guess we know what to expect.
“And that’s that. Another story in the classic, infallible three-act structure. Good enough for Aristotle, good enough for The Simpsons.”
However, the magical Simpsons sound the game makes when you task the kids to capture the Beast Enchanters makes up for ANY deficiencies I see with this year’s Halloween update.

LOL… Nice. Another “sound guy!” For me, the sounds are at least 75% of why I like the game. There are a few items in my town I hit, just to hear the sounds.
Tapping in friends towns to find goblins is so tedious. I spend at least 3-5 minutes (depending on their size of town) trying to find them. I wish they would have put a locator on them for finding them.
What to do? Translate War and Peace into Latin or play this extremely underwhelming event?
now come on, there’s nothing wrong with this event. every event people complain but EA has little to work with and they have to stretch it out so that there’s content for the future. when a new simpsons episode arrive, do you say that it is an underwhelming episode? don’t like it, don’t play simple, but just enjoy the game at least because it exists and it’s what we all are here for
Brilliant. Thank you! I was mulling over whether or not to continue with a Tale of Two Mages or to keep Lisa fighting Kearneymon. The Tale can definitely keep – I’ll keep Lisa fighting.
It looks like there’s a bit to get one’s head around with this event. I don’t think it’s too bad so far – I’m not into Halloween and each season give THOH episodes a miss though. The buildings are good and the pressure to complete is low because I already have most things.
Wow, just ran through the crafting items and am severely disappointed. A third of the items are unique items from last Halloween and it informs me that I already have the one craftable. Probably half of the remaining items are reruns from last year (gates, bats, covered bridges) so the only new things are craftable walls and items for the magic school. I’m hoping that my initial impression of the event is off, but right now I’m channeling my inner Lisa with a big “Meh.”
This event is disappointing and quite honestly, heart breaking. I thought these terrible grind events would have led to an amazing Halloween. My personal favorite event and time of year. Not the case. I started this game shortly after it released. I have never missed a day of play. This feels like a slap in the face. I’ve never considered giving up “the tap”, but I just might. It seems those of us who have been playing for years are being punished or at the very least disregarded. I’m offended that 90% of crafting is old stuff, but they have a $5 deal immediately??? Want money, but put no effort into this event whatsoever??? I don’t typically complain and I love my addicts. This magic (lack of) event has left me fully disenchanted.
Same for me too! Totally disenchanted (& I’m an elderly retiree Harry Potter fan) First week of the game tapper with 2 towns who plays many times daily, Australian timezone. Nothing much for me to craft that I don’t already have. So many items blocked as I already have them!
A shame is the Werewolf skin for Flanders earns nothing @ this early point of the game; Even though I have it in both towns & won’t be able to craft it.
I’ve enough bats, brambles, fires, & etc in my inventory already. There is so little for me to craft that won’t go straight into storage! A big & very disrespectful slap in the face for long term players who have been loyal & spent money on the game over 5 years.
Who wants / needs more walls? I thought of giving up during the music event; Given that I had most of the craftables in storage already. Yet here we are again with the same scenario!
Australians don’t usually celebrate Halloween; As it’s an American import into our culture. Despite that; I was looking forward to this event. Sharing with my many overseas neighbours! Yet the neighbour interaction is bare minimum! Nothing to even say you visited!
I love Harry Potter, but there is not much scary about the event. I will enjoy the Harry Potter jokes and references at least. Lisa shouldn’t be on two quests at once. Will have to take her off the main quest to make everything appear.

Used mystery box twice and got battle dome and gate to hell. Disappointed!
Yes…it is kind of standard fare for TSTO. They used to also play scary music. For years, the leaves would also fall during the autumn…and the rivers turned green for Halloween. So…this is timid by comparison.

One is lagging the most. I stuck through the gay pride, spy missions, even the music festival just to be disappointed with Halloween. Almost makes me want to quit playing until next year. The quest are getting more intriquet and harder to earn everything and too many premium items.
what a disappointment. Who is directing these events now? They used to be fun and could craft new stuff but this is a repeat of last years prizes. we should have new stuff and try and include a lot more characters. I have over 200 characters and only 10 or less are ever involved in events. It seems like they only want people to use this game to generate revenue. buy special stuff and do nothing with it later. Been playing this game since it came out and don’t want to give up my hard work for years. i guess i’m going to start farming donuts.
Is it me or does it seem harder to earn goblin gold? Clearing level 1 of crafting requires 1000+ gold, and after about 3/4 of a day (no doubt I started late), I only have 100ish gold. Just seems like it’ll take forever.
This is exactly what I was thinking..
I feel like all events start that way.. by the end of the event you’ll have more than you know what to do with.

I have to say, I think this will be the very FIRST event I will NOT complete. The update issues at first, just got the patch late last night. So far behind, I don’t see how I am going to finish and collect all of act ones goodies. I am not impressed with this one at all at this point.

OK. I wish I had a nickle for everyone who wrote that in the past 6 events. I’d have enough money to buy a pack of gum! The thing is…these updates are always easier than they first appear. Always. If you simply log in every 4 hours…clear the wands with your tower…and keep your primary characters finding the weird ogre dudes…you will stay on track. But…I get it. These always seem daunting in the beginning.
Looks at the moment the crafting is going to take more effort than the main prize track.
As it has for the last three events. Seems to be the “new normal.”
If you go to school, you can’t really do the every 4 hour thing. I guess you’d have to rely on friend taps.
I have never had any issues before. And I have completed every event way early. But this one is not allowing me to do certain tasks. I have contacted EA and am waiting for a reply. So, thank you for your input on my game and how I stated my opinion, much appreciated. ( Insert smiley face)

I’m HUGELY disappointed in this Halloween in Springfield. The whole Harry Potter craze is long played out…and it’s just not very Halloween-ish to me. I really don’t feel like dredging through the next 30+ days only to have a bunch of beasts that I can stick in my inventory once the event is played out. Maybe Xmas will be more Christmasy this year….(sigh).
Really sticking this event up there with Christmas 2016. Happy with the mystery box, finally getting Maude and King Homer’s Tower, despite having to empty the whole box to do so. I’m happy that I can craft Werewolf Flanders, that’s all I’m interested in. Hoping for Death and the Space Marshmallow to return at a good price, and SNORKY!!
Agreed. I took a peek at the spoilers for this event and the mystery box is the only thing I’m interested in.
not feelin’ this event in the early onset. the botched update, multiple repeated items in the crafting section, over-reliance on premium items, etc. i can’t start the quests because i have to use those characters to get the monster, etc. and of course just, this same month long slog of 4 hour rotations.
Help! I don’t seem to have any crafting option or the mystery box or the ACT offer in my game! Do I have to reach a particular point in the questline for those to appear, or do I need to contact EA? I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game just now on my iPad, but no joy. I also checked my Kindle and same problem, so it doesn’t seem to be a device-related issue.
Sounds like an EA contact issue… crafting appears in the first couple of actions.
Nope – just had to send Lisa to wave her wand at the K beast. Once that competed, everything appeared for me.

For the Mystery Box you have to do the kearney beast part. Then your screen will turn hazy and you’ll see the items in the stores.
For crafting you won’t unlock it until you hit that part of the questline. I indicated it on the rundown post

Yes – I’m a total idiot! Just figured that out. I thought the Tale of Two Mages was the primary questline, so that was the one I had been focussing on. I went back to my game (before in saw your response) and did Lisa’s first beast capture and, voila! – all was right with the world.

One follow-up question about the beast capturing though…I bought one of the beasts, so now I have a choice as to which one to work on. However, where it says “Reward:” there’s nothing after that, so I can’t tell if one is more valuable than the other or something. Ant clues about that?
Yea the Tale of Two Mages is the side quest. It can be done now or it can wait, won’t prevent progress.
So far, no. They all earn 50/character you send. Safi’s working on a full post.
Ignore my last question…more stupidity on my part. I see that the reward populates as you add magicians.
I’ll just shut up now and wait for my brain to return before I post anymore questions. 🙄
Extra beasts still have to have their dark karma fully drained via combat before you can use them as a minion. The standard characters drain half-karma per 4-hour while the premium characters can double that.
Once again, EA makes sure that game is easy for premium players and harder for the non-spenders.
As long as EA makes it reasonably possible for “non-spender” players to complete the prize tracks, etc., I think it’s quite fair to make it easier for “spenders.”
So is there no tapping in friends towns for this event or does it unlock as I progress the main quest line? Not that i’m complaining as the tapping in towns is laborious. I also got a pop up today to do with the Squeaky Voice Teen costume but it brought me to the XP multiplyer and then nothing? Anyone else get this?

Never read the HP books, so this event is not as exciting for me. Also, not a THOH event: no spooky stories, no trick-or-treating….
Crafting: can’t believe one of the good items is a rerun of last year: werewolf Flanders…..
I have read the HP books and watched all the movies, but this event is still not exciting. This almost feels like a Family Guy event, where they Shanghai themes from popular shows or movies to make an event around it.
Barts face on the new Halloween home screen matches my feelings about this event. 😒More big stupid buildings. Gee…can i craft the same crap i didnt want to craft last year? Except the bats….i got no beef with those bats….lol
Really had my halloween-loving heart set on something better. Im happy for all u magic loving players out there. Enjoy. But this is up there with last year’s “winter” event for me. Boooooo. (And not the good ghost boo either.)

Aww, I have half of the crafting stuff already. And I don’t have enough to craft even one item to move the quest along, so no friend requests yet. Does the Sqeeky Voice Teen skin help with the event? If so, I may actually get it.

the offer is on my iPhone ( which has the latest iOS update) but not on my iPad which I haven’t had chance to update yet! Also I wasn’t getting any bonuts when farming so might be worth checking your updates?

I have no SVT offer, no mystery box, and no crafting area on any of my three devices (each of which has a different OS)….really don’t have time to be contacting EA today after having taken a sick day yesterday and trying to play catch-up worth work. 🙁
I hope that, if I do end up having to contact them, that at least they’ll be able to quickly fix my game!
Think you are missing something obvious Sandra, just follow the main questline.
All set now. I thought I was following the main questline, but it turned out that was a side questline.
I also was not feeling very sharp that day…was ill and had only had a couple of hours sleep the night before.
But I’m in good shape now, both in the game and physically! 🙂
I’m not into the event this year, but will continue to play. I’m wondering though…is it better right now to send all the wizards to attack the monsters or do the side track for wands? Will the wizards spell casting power improve as I have not seen anything to support that? Also bummed that when in other Springfields you cannot tell how many goblins you have left to tap.
Ok, what’s the deal with SVT. I play on an iPad/iPhone. I got the notification this morning that his skin was available, tapped “ok”, it brought me to the experience collider (of all places) and then…nothing. I can’t find anywhere to purchase this. I also did not see it in the donut-purchase screen. Is this another glitch?
