It’s update Wednesday! Woohoo! Who’s excited for all new content in TSTO? After all that downtime (seriously was a SLOW July) everyone should be excited for something…anything to hit our games!
Well…that something has arrived! As Moe’s Ark is now officially live in our Pocket-Sized towns! Yes, that’s right my friends log into your Springfield’s to see all the zoo raising fun. Or just to see what items are available for you to throw donuts at…
Anywho, remember this was an app store update that hit our games YESTERDAY. So if you didn’t download the update check your app store for it now…we’ll wait. (if you don’t see it listed in your update section try searching the store for Tapped Out)

As I’ve mentioned several times over the last few days, this update kicks off with a task for THREE of the Simpsons to complete. So be sure you have at least 3 free. And more details are below the fold…

First thing you’ll notice is…FREE Donuts!
60 of them to be exact! That’s a lot of donuts! Why? I have no idea…but free donuts are free donuts so I’m not complaining, nor investigating. lol Just taking my donuts and running…
Note: Some are reporting that if you haven’t logged into TSTO in a long time (like over a month) you’ll get 300 donuts and a tree. I’ll have to test this out on one of my other games a little later…
Getting Started
Your initial quest for 3 Simpsons will be 6s long. Once you’ve finished that you’ll be tasked with placing the Springfield Zoo sign and you’ll also unlock Larry Kidkill for free…
THIS will trigger the event to start for you. Only after you’ve placed the Zoo sign and unlocked Larry will you unlock the prize track and the new items in the store. And as usual, you’ll continue to unlock more actions (such as tappables and neighbor actions) as you progress through the questline.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to follow the We Stole a Zoo questline. Do not complete any other tasks until you’ve worked through that questline, to the point of getting to “Unlock Big Cat Country Prize”, otherwise you’ll get stuck. The We Stole a Zoo questline is essential for unlocking neighbor actions and more. So follow that one until you cannot follow it anymore. The work on other questlines/task book action items.
FREE LAND
You’ll notice you’ve been awarded 9 free squares of land in the top right section of Springfield (along the Mountains). This is to start placing your zoo.
For now stick to placing your zoo in this area, as I’ve seen a few reports of players moving the items and the free land disappearing.
Gil’s Day Old Dounts
Gil appears in Springfield offering a Day Old Donut sale…
Seeing LOADS of reports from you guys saying you purchased it, it took your money and didn’t give you donuts. So for now, if you haven’t already, do not buy it!
If you did buy it and did not receive your donuts, contact EA. Alternatively, you can contact your app store, inform them and they should be able to refund you as well. But I do feel it’s important to contact EA so they know there’s an issue with it and they can correct it…
Free Stuff
Here are the free items awarded with the start of Act 1, how you get them and what they’re for. We’ll go into more details below (and in some cases in their own post)…
Springfield Zoo Sign. We Stole a Zoo Pt. 2. This will act as your “hub” for the event. This will also be the area in which the arrangement bonus is based on. Yes, the arrangement bonus area is back. At least it’s a fairly large area, basically takes up a little more than the 9 land tiles you’re given for free.
The Emu Experience. We Stole a Zoo Pt. 3. This is your first animal hub, and you can upgrade it to unlock more decorations and items to increase your arrangement bonus. More details on this will be below.
Animal Feeding Area. We Stole a Zoo Pt. 5. They finally brought back a “clear all” for the tappables. Tap this every 4 hours to instantly clear all Zoo Visitors (and collect their rewards). Now you don’t have to go searching for them…

Tappables unlock during We Stole a Zoo Pt. 4
Neighbor Actions
Tapping Tappables in a neighbor’s town will unlock during We Stole a Zoo Pt. 4. You can tap the same visitors in a neighbor’s town for the same payouts above. You can tap 3/town but there is a limit of taps/day.
As far as invasive Tadpoles go…
While you can potentially start earning them at We Stole a Zoo Pt. 4, you won’t be required to place them in a neighbor’s town until We Stole a Zoo Pt. 5. There can be a max of 10 in a friends town at a time. And simply tap the tadpole icon in the top right corner of their town to drop them off. If you are unable to drop them it’s likely their town is full.
And I believe the payout for Frogs is the Same as the payout for Tappables, 4 , 2 . If your friend taps them you both get the rewards, if they don’t just you get the payout. Payout till likely appear after 4hrs if they go untapped.
Emu Experience
You’ll notice there is no crafting with this one. Always welcomed. However, there is something different going on. Upgrades. You’ll need to collect (Sanctuary Grants) in order to upgrade your Emu Experience (and other items that will come along as the event progresses).
Upgrading your Emu Experience will unlock new decorations (and animals) for your zoo. So it’s like crafting, except you don’t get to pick what you want….

Some folks are getting confused on this one because you’re supposed to volunteer at the Emu Experience. However, when you tap the Emu Experience you can’t send characters on tasks. Instead, you need to tap the Zoo Entrance…

If you check your character collection you’ll get a look at all of the characters that will be introduced with this event. Here’s a look…
Yes, that is a certain female character we’ve all be wanting to hit our games for YEARS. No, she will not be free (as we all expected). All I can tell you is, save your donuts if you want her. Save LOTS of your donuts….more than 250, but less than 400 of them. She’ll be hitting later in the update.
And yes, that’s a new costume for Maggie. No, it’s not available yet. All I can tell you with that one is, save your cash. Your physical cash for her…not in-game cash but your actual real life money.
On a personal note…
The newest baby Addict is due here pretty soon. Which means we will likely run this update a little differently than we’ve done in the past. (this particularly applies to Acts 2 and especially Act 3, as I likely won’t be around for much (if any) of Act 3) We may combine posts and skip other posts that we feel aren’t as important. You may not see the full slate of posts posted each day, some days there may only be one post up.
We’ll still work to give you guys all of the information you need (especially on new content), but if I don’t get around to a SIB for returning content it won’t be the end of the world, ok? We’ve got over 5,000 posts on this site and a handy search tool. So if you don’t see a SIB post about written about a returning item, or items in the Mystery Box, simply search the site for them. For me, I think the lion farming totally makes up for not getting the 80% deal or the 300 donuts and a tree other people got.
What do you mean with the 80 percent deal and the 300&tree?
People who haven’t been playing got 300 donuts and a tree when they logged on for the event, people who have been playing only got 60 donuts. And people who don’t buy donuts with real money got a gil offer of 80% off the 2400 donut purchase whereas people who have been buying donuts with real money got 50% the 300 donut offer in the store.
Lion farming just dropped for me…. With 5x collider it is only 425 xp/lion – a few hours ago it was 8.295 xp/lion 🦁
I was wondering if it dropped,,,,I turned my collider late last night & when I tried the lion statues today,,it didn’t seem like it was a big xp return. With all the posting on it,,, I guess they dropped it. I’ve been looking through all these posts,,so thanks for the mention!

How do u add % on the zoo entrance gate to earn more food and grants
My initial thoughts on the event. Yay, there is no crafting with this event only upgrading the habitats, I think the last time there was upgrading in an event was with the attractions from the Christmas 2015 event with the snowman, gingerbread mansion etc. Yay, there’s a clear all button for the event tappables, possibly a double yay with the clear all button collecting the tadpoles from neighbours. Yay, neighbour visits are useful to both the sender and the receiver in the event. Yay, we can buy items for cash in the store. Yay, there are 2 land tokens on the prize track instead of 1 like in previous events. Yay, there’s a decent amount of upgrading currency on the prize track in the thousands while previous events only had it in the hundreds. Yay, 60 free donuts. Yay, no severe lags at the entrance or with the event. Boo, we can’t initially place the entrance where we want it because like the last event the entrance is automatically placed closest to the mountains. Boo, the was a server crash in the first few minutes of the event but its not a surprise considering the amount of players logging in at the same time to start the event. Boo, the event is still 6 weeks long like every major event this year (excluding Springfield Jobs), I guess we still have to hope that the Christmas event is 4 weeks again this year. Boo, the first mystery box is really expensive compared to other ones from previous events costing 80 donuts max but luckily, I only have Mary Spuckler in it. For me, this update has 8 yays and 4 boos from me so far but it is still too early to judge the entire event overall, however, in terms of content and execution this event could easily be the best event of the year if it continues to go well.
I really wish EA would stop adding new land in the top left corner. It’s killing the look of my town and really irritating me. Just some free land spots would do.
Interesting… mine was added next to the last one, not on top. I had bought the land below that spot, so I wonder if that is what makes a difference?!

Warning !! DO NOT BUY THE DONUTS DEAL TODAY !! EA is really not with it today I had spoken to two reps today this morning was for donuts I spoke to a really helpful girl I could understand until she switched me over to someone that hardly spoke English he did absolutely nothing except telling me to wait a few hours and call back. I waited five hours and contacted them back just to have an English speaking person talk like a rapid fire contest winner (just as bad as the other guy) couldn’t understand a thing but in the end she told me to wait another 24-36 hours for my donuts or a refund. And contact them back AGAIN !! WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP!! I’m thinking of calling Apple to void the sale.

It looks like the 300 bonuts disappear if you do not use them quickly. I lost them in three different games and used them successfully immediately in other games.
I briefly had the free donuts. I’m certain of this because my B town’s bank is never above 300 max (totally freemium in that game), and for a brief shining moment I had 578. Next time I looked, back down to 278. Don’t know why they went poof, but I know they were there. Hope that helps, Alissa.

Logged into my B game. Got the tree and 300 donuts, got kicked, logged back in, donuts are gone. Hmm. Definitely not throwing any limited funds at the Gil deal in either game right now.

The hidden bonus for Springfield heights is now part of the visible bonus. I suspected as much when I seen that the increase to my visible bonus was 150%, the same as the S.H. hidden bonus. I confirmed my suspicion when I harvested my KEMs and received the same amount of level ups I always get from my KEM operation. I HAVE DISCOVERED A FAR MORE FERTILE LAND IN WHICH TO FARM: LIONONIA. I am a lion farmer.
I got a tree, and a notification saying free donuts, however I didn’t actually see anything that gave me free donuts. Just the Gil sale on day old donuts
I noticed a glitch? I haven’t logged in for a while so got the 300 donuts and tree bonus when I first logged in. Only just noticed that I’m back down to what I was before, haven’t spent any as I’ve just been catching up with the questlines. It’s only been about 10 minutes since I logged on, so I’m not sure at what point they suddenly disappeared!
I never bothered to comment during the whole “should you pay real money to help motivate EA to make the game better” debate – but wow. I feel screwed at being offered 50% off the 300 donuts deal _apparently because I had spent real money before and/or log in often_ instead of 80% off the 2400 donuts one. I guess I’ll keep my money for other stuff in future…
No one feels worse than I do. I’ve spent thousands in this game and I was offered 9.99 for a truckload
That really sucks and I feel completely screwed. My B Game (at slightly over 1000 donuts) gives me the 80% discount offer for the 2400 boatload while my A game only offers the 50% discount for 300.
I’d probably have jumped for the 80% discount despite having 2800+ donuts in the game’s bank currently. But this way? Nope, no deal.
It’s infuriating
I see that multiplier bonus went up by 150% or so… I attribute this to the previously invisible SH multiplier bonus. Another thing, I am really interested, who I can send to volunteer… will I buy mystery boxes or new content – this depends on who I can send to volunteer.

I had a huge jump in my bonus percent!! I was close to 200%, and now I’m even closer to 300%!
Springfield heights now shows it’s buildings bonus in the Conform-o-meter I just tried removing some of the buildings and re-adding them and the bonus changed.
I had the same thing happen. I went from approximately 230% to 380%.
I noticed that too, and decided to place the ones I had in storage—maybe 10 total. I ended up with over 45 (!!), and storage is still showing the original ones. Didn’t buy them, can’t figure this out, boosted my bonus to over 500. I don’t want that much clutter, not sure what to do. Contact EA and they’d probably roll my game back, and I’d lose all other zoo progress and KEM donuts. Suggestions, please!
What is the spawn rate of the tappables? They seemed to stop appearing.

D’oh! I realize what’s going on. I was tapping the meat hut- not fully understanding the action. This is what I get for not reading or paying attention to my blind tapping.

There are people on the forums saying their tappables have stopped appearing. I haven’t had the problem though. Glitch maybe.
What does ‘bank of 30’ mean ? If the max is 30, where does the banked # come in to play ?
It’s a max of 30 in your town at once. The bank is just that, it fills till it’s max then it sits until there’s room in your town for them to come out.

Has anyone else had an issue where their mountain range separating Springfield Heights is missing? Also, a lot of my buildings and decorations are “invisible,” in that I can tap to see their progress bars or whatever, but they don’t actually appear onscreen? Any help or advice would be much appreciated, as I’ve reinstalled multiple times without any improvement.
Did you ever get this issue resolved? I have the same problem and now it is happening to the new zoo pieces. Did EA ever fix this for you?
No…my mountain and several buildings have the same problem. They have not fixed the problem.
Envious of those who got the $20 2400 Donut offer w/ 300 free donuts. I got the 60 free Donuts notification. Although I’m mostly freemium, I was considering getting the $10 Truckload deal, but after reading the troubleshooting that many players are experiencing, I might skip this one out. Hopefully, EA fixes this.
Got greedy and tried my luck on the Zoo Gift box 3 times since the newer items didn’t interest me. Wanted Manjula and Sherri & Terri, but instead I got the other characters I don’t have (Mary, Luke, and Brendan). Very unlucky. 🙁
I already have Uter, Brandine, Ling, Patches & Poor Violet, and Laura in my Springfield. That said, why couldn’t these characters help with the zoo volunteering? I really wish EA would expand the roster of the Monorail since half the cast is now required for the Zoo. I understand helping newer and inactive players who have returned, but Apu, Cletus, Krusty, Ned, Skinner, and the main Simpson family can’t do everything by themselves. More character participation would be essential.
Side note, I’m trying to be a better donut farmer. Just reached level 939 a few days ago and currently have 429% XP Bonus and have $13,000,000 in-game cash and 56 Donuts (after spending 300 on the Zoo Gift boxes). I got 30-40 KEMs right now with the XP Collider turned on 7 days. I also spend 100 donuts to try to boost my XP Bonus. Wish the endless Hondas, Khlav Kalahes, and Lard Lar Donuts expanded my XP Bonuses like the Billboards and Channel 6 Vans do.
Finally, I wish EA would do something with the “Send Springfielders to…” tasks. Tapping one character after another is tedious!
No offense, but if you’re doing KEM farming, why bother with monorail? Its a giant timesink for not much donuts.
I do all of the above when it comes to free donuts; monorail, where’s maggie, daily challenges, etc. I’m a long-time player (Christmas 2013) but only recently I’ve decided to try KEM farming.
I keep the monorailers on their assigned tasks in both my towns; As it’s usually these same characters needed for events – So relatively free to set on task or store a depot to chuck them out if needed.
5 donuts is still worthwhile if your towns aren’t in need of in game cash (Mine haven’t been for many years) & whilst I don’t donut farm my donut tally is close to 1000 in game B & over 2000 in game A for my towns. Freemium.
Totally agree. Once I started with KEM, I stopped the time wasting Monorail jobs. 5 donuts are just not worth the time, IMHO. Playing Sideshow You twice a day for 5 donuts every ~6 weeks is an okay effort, so is playing Find Maggie daily for 3 donuts every 3 days. But I guess everyone’s mileage may vary and not be bothered by Monorail.
Try the lion statues. Instant payoff and very time, cash and space efficient. I’m doing about 250 at a time for about 25 donuts per batch. It uses very little cash as compared to KEM farming. I’ve farmed about 700 donuts today. Lion statue farming wasn’t my idea, i saw it in a comment on this site.
Very good so far, the free land is a bit out of the way and the land next to it isn’t available for expansions, not we’re I wanted to put it but didn’t want to lose it, free donuts always a bonus.
The gils deal is very good at 9.99, when EA get it to work, think its a work around to patrics idea of giving something back

A good deal is the Boatload at 80% off. I feel very insulted and it feels like I am being punished for playing everyday by getting the Truckload at only 50% off. Not a very savvy move by EA to not reward their loyal players.
I play may b game every day as well, and still got the boatload with 80% off. I never bought donuts before in that game, though, maybe that is the reason I got that offer. Tempting freemium players to spend money….
My B game, also played daily and with 1000+ donuts in the bank from buying/selling Rat Trap Trucks with many many millions of cash, also has the big discount offered. I’ve only bought one or two Scratch-Rs in it during all its 5+ years.
I was thinking the same thing. I’m a freemium player and got offered the 2400 donuts at 80% off. But 20$ is still too much for me to let go. I can only afford ramen noodles in real life. So funny and sad at the same time. Hahaha.
Had the Gil deal issue with purchasing donuts and not getting them. Logged this with EA who said it could take up to 24 hours for the donut to arrive! Never had this before with donut purchases, so I have to wait until tomorrow…

Items from the emu experience upgrade
By upgrading the Emu Experience, the pieces you earn each have a bonus percent that needs to be placed in the highlighted (bonus) area. You can go on to a upgrading a second EE (emu experience) after the first one is fully upgraded ( to earn even more bonus%).
The quickest way to upgrade is to go to the store (event section) and buy the Sanctuary Grants. I spent 100 donuts for 10,000….have fully upgraded 2 EEs and still have over 2,000 left. That puts me at 8.5% bonus. You can also buy just 3000, which should get you thru one full EE upgrade. Hope this helps 😁
Here’s a picture of 2 EEs upgraded (with Moe’s petting zoo and a few other things added). I moved the second EE base away to a second area for now…trying to figure out how to have all the same animals in each different EE, but the bases aren’t cooperating.

For those that are farming the statue and have a lot of time to lose do not pay the 50 000$ in the donut lottery to try to get the 3 donuts. The statue payout is so high that it cost more to pay for more donuts that to buy another batch of statue

Yeah just keep accepting what you get 1st time and you hardly pay anything per donut. Just takes a lot of time and space. I can’t see this being available for long. Way too cheap and easy to farm donuts.
Also I got the 80% off 2400 donuts and I play multiple times daily. An amazing deal.
Thanks so much for point out the insane experience payout on placing the lion statue. I just maxed out my Homerlayas and am well on my way to 939 by buying and selling back truckloads of ’em!
FYI, I think the best bang for the buck is the Butterfly Garden. I am getting the same XP/$ ratio for all the new items (Zoo Wall, Lion Statue & Butterfly Garden) the real difference is the sell back price. Zoo Wall cost $10, sell back $2 (20%), Lion Statue cost $50, sell back $12 (24%), Butterfly Garden cost $100, sell back $25 (25%)

I checked for the increase in Xps for the small wall,zoo wall,lion and butterfly garden. The small wall gave the best return, but only marginally. Based on $100 spent, and my bonus % I got 37,350 xps for all of them, except for the small wall which gave me 37,400.

how do you farm statue? quick play by play please? I placed 100 lions and got 190k XP…so by my math, that’s 1 donut for less than 15k, not even counting the 1.2k I get back from selling. I’m level 169 and have never farmed before . is that a good deal? am I doing it right? lol. thanks in advance!
