“My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.”
~ Wilfred Owen, Dulce Et Decorum Est, 1917
With all the TSTO War going on, it brings to mind some of the great war poetry I’ve read in my life (quite a bit during my last semester of college). I thought I’d start this Weekend Update with a little culture. I highly recommend Mr. Owen’s stuff and will save you from any more of my thoughts about real war.
Moving back to why you’re probably here… the Weekend Update… Wookiee here and this was the last week at TSTO Addicts.
SATURDAY, after our last Weekend Update, we got quite a lot of comments about the nerd replenishment not happening. Well, Wookiee (yours truly) was right here for all of you with information about the NERDS. Hopefully we see the replenishment today. If it does drop, the code puts it at 2pm EDT.
Later that night, Alissa popped in with a special Saturday Night Caption This. Did you think of something funny to say about the images?
SUNDAY: Wookiee kicked off the day to show you some of the awesome commercials FXX made for The Simpsons Marathon.
Alissa then revved up the discussion like we do every Sunday evening with the Sunday Night Open Thread.
MONDAY was a U.S. and Canadian holiday here at Addicts so it was a bit of light day. Of course, every day has something from us so we wished all of you a Happy Labor Day.
Insider info: The lady Addicts were off on vacation and the fuzzball found himself all alone in the comments so Wookiee popped an extra Caption This for y’all to enjoy. I’m still grounded for it lol.
TUESDAY: The holiday weekend was over, as well as the Every. Simpsons. Ever. event, so Wookiee decided to give some really good news. Did you know the Simpsons goodness might last “forever”? Starting off the Where Did THAT Come From stuff for the Clash of Clones Event, Wookiee also decided to give you a special edition for some of the event items.
Wookiee of course roared from the attic and continued his origin stuff with a Where Did THAT Come From for Barbarian Homer.
THURSDAY: Bunny started off with a reminder for our next Springfield Showoff. This time we want to see all your creative castle designs and they’ll be shown off later today. You have until Noon EST to submit your pics.
Next up, Wookiee popped in with a Where Did THAT Come From for the catapult.
And then UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE…
Bunny (and Alissa) hopped in to let you know just what was in the update and explained all the new Clash of Clones stuff that came with it. You’d think all of that would be it for one week but Alissa was back later in the evening with a Teaser from EA about Level 44.
FRIDAY: Wookiee was here and posted about some Silly Simpsons News involving Season 26 crossover episodes courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.
A week at Addicts wouldn’t be complete without more technical info so Bunny talked shop about Game Crashing Issues.
Then Blammo, holy schnikeys, wowzapalooza! EA whopped us with MORE GAME STUFF! As always, Alissa had you covered with all the info you wanted to know about Level 44.
Wowza… it’s been one heck of a week. So what do we have in store for y’all today?? Well you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled to find out! Don’t forget to submit your designs for the Springfield Showoff: Pillage and Plunder aka Castle Designs. Like I said before, 12 PM EST is the deadline.
Post your images to the Addicts Flickr, share them in the Comments of the reminder, share your images on our Facebook Page, Link them to our Twitter feed, or email us your screenshots at TSTOAddictsblog@gmail.com. We can’t wait to see YOUR designs! (Need help with images, just ask.)
And that sums up this week here at TSTO Addicts. What do YOU think of this week’s posts? Any favorites? Any that helped you out the most? Anything in particular you would like to see written about or added to? Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!
