Incoming Update-New Year, New You! (Available on the App Store)

Update: The Update is currently available to download via the App Store for Android and iOS. Fire you’ll have to let me know if you see it. You may have to search your app store (under Tapped Out) to find the update.
Also, this update does change the splash screen but it DOES NOT remove the snow from Springfield. So looks like the snow will be sticking around for a little while longer!
Remember, the update WILL NOT start for you until TOMORROW Jan. 20th. So don’t panic if you download the update and don’t see a new event starting…
And those of you who were missing tasks…please let me know if this corrects that issue for you. Thanks!

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Just wanted to let you know there is a new update on the server. It hit about a half-hour ago or so. So expect an app store update to hit within the next few hours….

That being said, the update will not go live in games until TOMORROW, January 20th. So don’t freak out that it hasn’t launched yet etc. Just giving y’all a heads up that it’s coming. The theme is the New Year…

It just isn’t Christmas without cults and crib-bound Messiahs. Luckily, Homer is home and safe from the Movementarians, and Baby Jesus is hanging with the Simpsons until King Herod gets over his hissy fit. Now it’s time for a normal Christmas full of mindless consumerism and hedonistic feasting, just as the Lord intended. We probably should have learned a lesson from all of this but who cares! Onward and upward!

More details as I pull files and the update hits the app stores…

P.S. The app store portion of this update (which isn’t live just yet) SHOULD resolve the character task issue….we’ll see what happens.

Thank Grog It’s Firday!

So… this was it? rEAlly EA? Way to alleviate the speculation about the game winding down and going away. Not!

All this silly retread did was increase the speculation that you are “outta gas” in the idea department, and are too timid to just be honest enough about where you are leading us.

We haven’t heard “peep one,” out of our so-called Game Engagement Liason (you know who you are, John). We see him hovering on the forum, and in the “secret chat rooms” where all of the TSTO Illuminati hang. But, no emails. No returned messages…just complete “radio silence.”

So, we wait around for weeks…after a couple of relatively lame mini-updates, for this? Come on. This COULD HAVE BEEN GREAT! The episode on which it is based is beloved. It was even entered into the Baseball Hall of Fame!

This update will get no such accolades. Trust me on that.

But, there were a couple of minor perks that made at least the first couple of days endurable. Let’s take a look at what you could do to turn “Meh,” into “S’allright.”

In-Game Update: Classless Reunion Mini-Event is Live (updated and complete)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Back to back mini-events in Springfield! At least we have new content, right? I think they only thing we can be sure of these days from EA is to expect the unexpected. I don’t think any of us thought another 2-week mini-event would follow State of Despair, but here we are.

In looking at the content for this one, while yes this mini-event has the standard 5 prize questline, it’s mostly about the returning content. This mini-event comes with the largest mystery box I’ve ever seen. What feels like every single item from Springfield is back in one Mystery Box. Literally, hundreds and hundreds of items are in this one box. Over 700 items available. All for 30 donuts. That’s what this event is about. Reunions. Both of the High School variety and returning content to Springfield variety.

And before I hear from the “This game is ending crowd”…get a grip. Please. This is basically Black Friday, but 1 Mystery Box instead of 15-20.

On with the content!

Things kick off in Springfield with some dialogue from Homer (about getting ready for his reunion), followed by a task for him…

As always with brand new content, I’m still going through everything. So continue to check back on this post as I’ll be adding to it as I go. Once it’s finished I’ll add “Updated and Complete” to the title.

New Update Is Coming…Classless Reunion (Launches tomorrow March 13th)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

There is an update on the server side of the game right now. I’ve got to go through the files and see what’s incoming.

Initial examination tells me that this will be called Classless Reunion, and it will be another mini-event. This will start Wednesday (tomorrow) March 13th (1400 UTC, 10a ET) and ends Tuesday, March 26th.

Pulling details and info, but I really won’t have content up here until it goes live in our games. So for now just know that it starts tomorrow, and because it’s a mini-event you shouldn’t have to download anything from the App Stores.

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Looks like EA released the removal update a little early, as there is currently an app store update available in Android (I can’t check iOS and Amazon at the moment) that preps for the removal of the I&S Event. However, I want to stress downloading this update will NOT remove the event from your game at this time. The event will not officially end until the timer runs out tomorrow. So don’t panic. This update will, however, change your app icon and splash screen back to normal. As well as make a few other changes. So, let’s take a look….

THOH Update Removal is Live…And So is Thanksgiving (Updated and Complete)

Note: Yup, the update is still not available on iOS. Happens sometimes. May be a bug with it, could be Apple holding it up…at this point it’s available on Android and Amazon. EA typically releases updates for all 3 markets at the same time, and then it’s up to each App Store to approve them, some move slower than others. (which is why Amazon is often late) This has happened with other games as well (see TQFS)…unfortunately just a little patience is required. Hopefully it’ll hit iOS soon….

NOTE FROM PATRIC- I was one of you…no iOS. It landed this morning. HOWEVER…it didn’t just “show up.” I needed to shut down my device completely…as in all the way off, not just clicking the screen. Shut. Down. Then go into the app store…and do a search for “The Simpsons Tapped Out.” That finally brought up the new updated screen. Please try that before you write, reinstall, or freak out any further…Thanks!!

And i’m actually pleasantly surprised by EA…as a nice touch they’ve added Turkeys to the Splash Screen and Icon….i don’t recall them doing that ever unless it was for a major event.

Two thumbs up with that EA, good job and a nice touch.

And of course, as you may have guessed, this leads right into the Thanksgiving mini-event! No waiting!

~~I’ve got a LOT going on at work right now, so I’ll fully update this post later.~~ But for now know that you’ll need to complete Lisa’s first 6s task and that will launch the mini-event…

So with all these free donuts going around in TSTO we’re seeing more and more comments from fellow Tappers asking which Premium Character/Building combo is the best to buy? What’s your favorite?

Now Bunny, Wookiee and I laid out our favorites way back in 2014 in this post. And every year we ask you guys for your favorites in our blogiversary poll (you can see 2014 here and 2015 here). But since that some new characters have been released and maybe some preferences have changed…so today we want to know What Premium Character/Building Combo is your favorite?
