Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
It’s Halloween time in Springfield! Leaves are falling, there’s a dimness to our towns, something is floating in the water…oh and items from Halloween Past have returned to our stores!
As with Halloweens past (and other events) EA has decided to make old items new again, and give players who might have missed out on something a second chance to get it. Of course that second chance doesn’t come with out a price, as many of the returning items that were once free are now premium.
Recently EA brought back several items from 2013 and 2012, Frog Prince, Freak Mobile, King Snorky, House of Evil, Krusty Doll, Bad Dream House, Devil Flanders, Heck House & Witch Marge (with her Cauldron)..oh and we’ll even cover Booberella here too!. Now many of you are curious if any of these items are worth your hard earned donuts, and we’ve broken a lot of these down for the previous events…however we decided it’d be great to give them another look in a Halloween Should I Buy reboot post!
So now let’s take a look and see if these items are worth YOUR donuts!
This will run a little different than our typical Should I Buy posts. Basically I’ll give you a quick overview, some pros and cons & my opinion on it now…but I’ll also link you to the previous Should I Buy for more insight…
Oh and before we get started, for those that don’t know NPC= Non-Playable Character.
Let’s get started with…the Frog Prince
Character: Frog Prince
Cost: 25 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2013
How Did You Get it Before: This was a community prize awarded last Halloween. So it was free to those that played.
What Does it Do: Essentially a NPC. If you tap on him he’ll make a blarf noise and say something funny like, “Once I was an innocent frog, then an incompetent boy wizard turned me into this nightmare of agony. Please don’t tap me. It just makes it hurt worse.”
And then of course…
Pros
-He’s REALLY funny. And has a great sound when you tap on him as well…
-Inexpensive for a premium item
Cons
-Too easy to accidentally tap on him. I do it often by mistake and it hangs up my game for a second while I’m waiting for his dialogue.
-Was once free and is now premium, with no added benefits.
Final Thought
This was my FAVORITE Community Prize last year. He’d make me giggle every time I tapped on him. But the novelty did wear off eventually, and now I don’t really tap him…unless it’s by mistake. While the donut price is reasonably low, I don’t know if i’d shell out the dough for him…especially when there are other premium items with more use.
Character: King Snorky
Cost: 40 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2013
How Did You Get it Before: This was a personal prize awarded last year.
What Does it Do: Essentially a NPC. He does come with a small questline but he does not have any tasks, instead you have Homer and Bart do all the work (questline here). After that a complete NPC. If you tap on him he’ll do a flip.
Pros
-3 part questline, so it will give you something to do.
-Snorky was one of the most requested characters in TSTO…
Cons
-Will just roam around your town, really no purpose to him.
-Was once free and is now premium, with no added benefits
Final Thought
I have him, he was free last year. But I never think about him. Heck half the time I don’t even see him hopping around my Springfield. Unless you LOVE Snorky as a Simpsons fan…pass on this one
Item: Freak Mobile
Cost: 35 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2013
How Did You Get it Before: This was a premium item last year.
What Does it Do: It’s a decoration, so it doesn’t do much. But it is a premium decoration so it does at a 0.75% bonus to all cash and XP and boosts your vanity rating.
Pros
-Relatively inexpensive for a premium item that will give you a decent bonus
-Looks cool with your Halloween area.
-Another “car” for Springfield
Cons
-Only improves vanity, the easiest to max out of the Conform-o-Meter Categories
-Doesn’t really do anything beyond the bonus %
Final Thought
I own it. It’s part of my Springfield, but I often forget about it. I purchased it because of the design look of it, and I liked the idea of putting it with my Freak Show tent. However, if donuts are limited you might want to pass on this one and save them for a more useful character/item.
Combo: House of Evil/Krusty Doll
Cost: 90 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2012
How Did You Get it Before: These were premium items last year. Although not a combo. The combo price is less than buying the two separately was in the past. In 2012 you earned these via collecting Event Currency. (so they were free)
What Does it Do: House of Evil is a building & talking Krusty is a doll that will walk around your Springfield. Talking Krusty is an NPC. When you tap on him either little hearts will fly our, or he’ll come at you with a knife.
Pros
-Cheaper than buying then individually last year (House of Evil was 45, Talking Krusty was 60)
-House of Evil boosts consumerism (+10)
-Talking Krusty Doll does talk
Cons
-Doll is an NPC, so another character that will just walk around Springfield.
-No character interaction with the House of Evil
-No unlock quests with either the House of Evil or Krusty Doll
-Krusty Doll is REALLY small…you might miss it in your town.
Final Thought
I own the House of Evil and love it. I do not own the Krusty Doll. Just not a fan of the NPC aspect of it. This one is a hard one because I would buy the House of Evil again, but still don’t want the Krusty Doll. If you’re a fan of the doll I say go for it or if the House of Evil is something you’ve coveted for a while in another neighbor’s town now’s your chance to grab it. But if you’re on the fence, pass on it. There are other items with Halloween that are better worth your donuts.
FYI….if you already own one of the items, you can get the other for a reduced price. For example, I already own House of Evil…but I can get the talking Krusty Doll for the 60 donuts he cost last year. I would assume you could pick up the House of Evil for the same price as last year, if you already have Talking Krusty.
Posts from last year: House of Evil
Talking Krusty
Building: Bad Dream House
Cost: 85 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2012
How Did You Get it Before: Premium item in 2013. In 2012 you earned it via collecting Event Currency. (so it was free)
What Does it Do: It’s a building, so it doesn’t do much. There are no tasks associated with it..but when it does get used it has AWESOME animation! (previously used Halloween 2012, 2013 and Stonecutters 2014).
Pros
-Awesome looking building. One of the more coveted ones for a while from a lot of new Tappers
-Looks great in a Halloween area
-Adds 10 points to Indolence.
Cons
-No tasks associated with it, so you won’t see it animated until something uses it.
-No questline associated with purchasing it
-It’s pretty big, 9×9.
Final Thought
I own it, I love it! Always makes me smile when I see it. While it doesn’t get used very often, I haven’t once regretting purchasing it. The rarity of it’s use just makes it more special when it does get used.
This is one of the most requested items we see you guys asking for in the comments, so don’t let the opportunity pass you by to pick it up now!
Combo: Heck House/ Devil Flanders
Cost: 120 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2012
How Did You Get it Before: These were premium items in the past (2013). Although not a combo. In 2012 you earned these via collecting Event Currency. (so they were free)
What Does it Do: Heck house is a facade for the Springfield Church, much like Christmas lights. Devil Flanders is a skin for Flanders. Does come with a full set of tasks.
Pros
-Heck House is animated. The letters in the sign flash.
-Devil Flanders has some great animated tasks
Cons
-Expensive for a facade and costume, nothing new associated with it
-Combo is more expensive than they were to purchase individually last year.
-No questline associated with it.
Final Thought
This one is hard. I can tell you I passed on BOTH of these last year. While Devil Flanders is cool and all I just didn’t think it was worth the donuts. And to me the Heck House, really isn’t worth the donuts. But I’m not a big Halloween fan so that could be why (i have no issue spending donuts on Christmas lights). I can tell you Devil Flanders is a highly requested skin so if you’ve been looking for him, now’s your chance to pick him up. Don’t miss out again!
Previous Posts: Heck House
Devil Flanders
Character/Combo: Witch Marge & her Cauldron
Cost: 75 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2012
How Did You Get it Before: Premium item in 2013 & 2012
What Does it Do: Skin for Marge, comes with a full set of tasks. Cauldron is a decoration, but does give a nice 2.25% Bonus with it.
Pros
-Premium tasks for Marge, that will earn 50% more Cash and XP
– She can speed up crops! This came in handy during Easter for growing carrots to get more Bunnies.
-She can Trick Or Treat during this event, which will earn you more treat bags
Cons
-No questline associated with it.
-75 donuts is pricey for a skin and decoration
Final Thought
If you have the donuts, buy it. This is the MOST useful item from Halloween. She’ll help you speed up crops, which can earn you more money in the long run. No only that but she can help you earn even MORE Treat Bags for this event! Out of all the returning items, Witch Marge is a MUST HAVE. Get her before it’s too late!
Character: Booberella
Cost: 100 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2013
How Did You Get it Before: Premium item in 2013.
What Does it Do: New character for Springfield. Full set of tasks and questline.
Pros
-Premium character, earns 50% more cash and xp
-Really funny outdoor animations
-Questline
Cons
-Expensive
-Not voiced
Final Thought
I own her, I love her. Her burn at the stake task is probably one of my favorites. While she’s not as useful as Witch Marge, I do think she’s another must buy. So if you have the donuts and can swing her, pick her up! However…between the two (Booberella and Witch Marge) go with Witch Marge.
So that sums up all of the…”if you haven’t seen them, they’re new to you” premium items!
What do YOU think of the items? Have you purchased any? Have some from previous Halloweens? Any advice on what to buy for TSTO Noobs? Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

Bad dream house – check
Witch Marge – check
House of Evil – check
Devil Flanders was harder to pay for but I’ve wanted him for a year now. I could have done without the Heck House but I did it anyway. That’s the most I’ve spent on skins :-/ I won’t pay 150 for the Community Center with a new character but I did this… Oh well maybe I’ll get the community center soon too.
I skipped Booberella, but my husband bought her right away.
I’m thinking about the Freakmobile.
I have the Frog Prince but I hate him. I wish I could trade home towards something else. I only brought him out for Halloween, but soon I will put him back in inventory.
I also have the dolphin from last year. I wouldn’t pay for it but it doesn’t bother me.
I agree about the frog prince! I’m a little inpatient so if I accidentally tap him I’m all hurry up already. I rarely tap any of the NPCs except the twonicorn and egg council guy. Devil Flanders is my favorite skin, I love the 1 hour task, show his rath. Often I just set him to do that over and over all day long. I still want Boobarella but 100 donuts! Ouch! I love seeing her burn at the stake in neighboring towns so she’s still on my maybe list.
OK, completely OT but for those of you who like REAL football, my fav team, Bayern Munich, are completely thumping Roma 4 to nil and it is still in the first half!! Deutschland, Deutschland, uber alles!!
5-0 and still in the first half lol
Reminds of the pummelling Germany gave Brazil at the World Cup 🙂
Seeing that I really enjoy playing this game since about a month now, it was time to buy a few donuts. I cho-cho-chose Witch Marge – for the bonus, the skin and her much needed help with the Helloween-Event (she is my 6th trick or treater now).
Non of the other offers are must-haves for me. Devil Flanders is tempting, but too expensive for a skin. However the Ray Gun keeps staring at me… I am constantly low on ammo, it results in two decorations, I get Kodos. But the first phase of the event has already passed, so I am kind of late for the ammo advantage. Ugh… LOL
Am I the only one who wishes you had said there is no “porpoise” to Snarky?
I was on the fence about witch Marge, but you sold me on her usefulness. I accidentally started growing corn on my farm and with 80 more days to go that alone makes her worth the donuts to me.
Just remember she’ll speed up 4hrs at a time, so you’ll have keep resetting her task
How do you speed up crops? How fast would it speed up a corn crop?
You put the Witch Skin on Marge, send her on her 4 hour task to “Speed Up Crops”, when the 4 hours are up…she takes and additional 4 hours off the remaining time of the crop after tapped. So it is best spent being used when you have crops that take MORE than 4 hours.
Thanks for the reminder I’ve been having her trick or treat. I’ll have her do the speeding up of my crops once the event ends.
Just FYI: You can cancel that task by storing Cletus’s farm. More than a few times I’ve accidentally started a long task for someone or something when I really didn’t want to. It also works for crops. But for example, many folks put Homer on the doughnut torture machine (36 hour task) only to learn he was needed for another task — putting the machine away kicks him off. Then you can put whatever it is back where it was.
As far as I know, the only ones you can’t do this with are Homer and Lisa (because you’re not allowed to store the Simpson’s home). But I could be mistaken.
Correct. Simpsons house can’t be stored.
To be utterly accurate, you can cancel Homer and Lisa tasks if the task is associated to something that can be stored. But if the task is walking around outside or in the Simpsons house, then no.
I know I can store it, but since we haven’t needed the crops for this event I decided to just let the crops grow just to do it.
Thanks! U just made it easier for me to buy marge
Any ideas when the Refilling shrub, tribal hut, and queen will be available to craft?
Later in the event…no exact date available.
Refilling shrub ?
Gotta love auto correct.
Got the bad dream house the minute it was released. At 85 donuts it’s pretty pricey for a building that doesn’t do anything but I had to have it! I love the look of it – even more so when it lights up and the fact it happens so rarely adds to the appeal for me. Plus it’ll work really well with the spooky house and some spooky walls. Time to do some redesigning I think!
Thank you for this! I’ve been coveting the Bad Dream House all year, although its rarely used. I think I’ve only come across it actually in use in a neighbor’s Springfield twice. But I like the facade – it can double as Maison Derriere! 🙂 But Witch Marge is the most useful. *sigh* I’ve been storing up donuts for the drive-in theater (too cute!) but I think overall I’ll be happier with Marge.
Broke down, bought some donuts and nabbed all of these items (except Freak Mobile). I’ve been drooling over them in my neighbors’ towns all year long, so it was a no-brainer. No buyer’s remorse either…LOVE ‘EM ALL!! Only complaint is that a lot of the cooler buildings (e.g. Bad Dream House; Museum of Natural History) don’t have regular questlines and only animate on rare occasions. Why can’t Lisa or Martin have a permanent quest that involves a trip to the museum? Just seems like a waste of a nice building.
My take on these items is pretty much the same. Pure NPCs = Totally not worth spending donuts. I actually like the House of Evil + Krusty doll, but the one building I totally coveted every time I saw it in other people’s towns was the Bad Dream House. Even non-animated, it’s just one of the most attractive ones they’ve ever put into the game.
Boobarella is nice, but it’s a shame she’s not voiced. The 8-hour “sell peanuts” task for her is kind of lame, to be honest. (With my non-premium kids all on 8 hour trick-or-treat cycles, that’s the default for everyone during the event.) Personally, I think the best deal is Witch Marge. Not only does she have the ‘speed up crops by four hours’ ability, which came in handy during the Easter event, but she gives Marge premium (50% higher payout) tasks -and- is eligible during the Halloween event to trick-or-treat for gold or silver bags.
I’m at 68 donuts in my freemium B-game (already bought Witch Marge in my A-game), and I’m actually considering breaking my “buy no donuts” rule for that one.
When you say premium item does that always mean it was a donut item? …because I have most of these items from past halloweens and I did not spend donuts on my game until Easter this year…. How is that possible…*headscratch*?
As you see from the list it’s noted if they were premium originally. This time around they’re all premium but last year several were won as prizes (Frog Prince & Snorky)
What about the Heck house and devil Flanders and the bad dream house are listed as previously premium…I was just curious as I don’t remember the events very well from past years…
I’m glad I get to poke your guys’ brains on occasion when my memory fails me.
I enjoy all items I have except for the krusty doll and the frog prince which are creepy. They are destined for life in storage until Halloween rolls around again. Booberella, Witch Marge, Snorky, and the freak mobile are the ones I didn’t have. The only one I’ll get is w
Premium last year, part of the event in 2012. Post as been revised to reflect exactly what was what and when 🙂
…I’ll get witch marge…oh those darn tiny keyboards…grrr
One note on the Heck House is that it’s sound effect when you tap it changes to a loud scream. Great for making people jump (and you too when you forget it’s there).
Booberella is 100 donuts, not 75.
Whoops! Must have been looking at the wrong item on my list. Fixed now 🙂
I love Booberella. I bought her last year when I was able to get enough donuts at the last minute. My second choice was Witch Marge. This year, I bought Witch Marge the moment she arrived. Unless a super awesome character comes along, I will be saving my donuts for Christmas. Maybe American Thanksgiving.
Sorry for my English in advance, I’m Brazilian.
About characters/buildings from Halloween 2012, you could inform how you could get them at that time. For example, House of Evil, Krusty Doll, Bad Dream House and Devil Flanders were all free in 2012, I know that because I have them and I’m a freemium player. Don’t have Heck House and Witch Marge, can’t remember whether they were premium since 2012 or were free and I missed them – I started playing the game during Halloween 2012, so I couldn’t get all the items I wanted (the most being Burns Monster).
I was thinking about buying Witch Marge, but as I said before, I’m a freemium player, so I have to think things over – I have 91 donuts. 🙂
Should be updated with that info 😉
Marge was always premium, heck house was currency.
Any updates on when these items will be taken down from the game? Really want to get witch Marge, but I’m saving for the ray gun
Not sure when. My guess is the 30th/31st…but honestly hard to tell what EA has in mind…
So that means they’ll be sticking around a little while longer? :). Thank you for the reply Alissa.
I got witch Marge and the cauldron, as it was something I always regretted a bit not buying last Halloween. I’m happy with my decision.
I think that I will pass on the rest (though of course I do have the prizes from last year)
I had sworn off buying donuts for the rest of the year (getting married in January!) but as soon as I saw the Bad Dream House I caved in and purchased some straightaway so I could snap it up. I’ve long coveted it in neighbours’ towns, even though it doesn’t do much, it looks SO cool.
lol…tsto will do that to you!
Congrats on the wedding! 🙂
I’ve read elsewhere that the SuperCollider might also be returning. Besides the Mapple Store, it’s the building I want the most. Has anyone here seen anything that confirms this?
Just stuff in the files…won’t know for sure until it hits. My guess is if it comes back it will be a weekend offer (like Count Burns and Suzanne the Witch)
Thanks Alissa 🙂
🙂
I paid 100 donuts for Booberella. Did it change from 100 to 75? I may cry if it did, as I would imagine that donuts will not be returned.
No that was my mistake, i’m sorry. I was reading the witch marge donut cost on my sheet when I was typing that out.
I purchased Witch Marge right when I saw she was added. Love the unique ability, plus she’s helpful for this event and the bonus is nice.
Some of the others are intriguing, but as of now I’m not planning on getting any of them. Hopefully when they roll out the next batch there’ll be some I want.
I’m pretty sure Booberella cost me 100 donuts when I bought her this Halloween.
Yes, she’s 100. Typo on my part…fixed now
I got Frog Prince and Snorky last year, wouldn’t buy it otherwise… The car is a pass for me. Don’t have it and doesn’t call to me. Same with Heck House and House of Evil, but I’d sooner get House of Evil for extra income of new building. I really want Witch Marge and Bad Dream House. I got Booberella last week before Marge came out, but I love her. I have her burning at the stake 24/7 in my Halloween section. I’ll probably buy Marge soon, and maybe the Bad Dream House, but Marge is a must for me.
I bought witch Marge so I could speed up crops (and get treat bags). Is there a specific crop she speeds up, since I tried to do it with corn for her and it didn’t do anything for me (unless it just marginally speeds it up)?
Corn- it’s marginally. Basically she reduces the time by 4hrs.
From what I’ve read her 4 hour task reduces grow time by 4 hours and can be used repeatedly on the same crop, so if you run it every 4 hours then you could conceivably reduce corn time by 50%. You’d have to restart the task every 4 hours though.
Based on info from last Halloween for crops that take less than 4 hours she seems to halve the time instead. Also, if you plant a new crop while she is still on her task from the previous crop the bonus does take effect. I’d like to play around with it a bit and test some things out, but I’ll probably wait until after Halloween since she’s trick or treating now.
As a freemium player I am 4 donuts away from the bad dream house. I will be completely heartbroken if it gets taken away before I can get it!
Probably get Shauna this weekend (as she’s the last premium character that gets gift bags that ain’t purchasable already)…but more importantly we need Springfield Hellementary & Skinmers. I’d even pay donuts for it within a limit.
Wouldn’t it be a NEAT event if the Simpsons went to hell…we can get frank grimes, bleeding gums & hymen krustofski along with demons. Off topic but still about tsto.
Peace
Thanks for this post. Super helpful (as always!)
Just a question on Witch Marge’s crop speeding up; how does it work and does it work on all crops?
I saw it was a 4-hour task for Marge; Does that mean it only works on crops that take less time? If I have moonshine (or Corn, ACTUAL Corn) running, do I run her once and it cuts the time in half? Or does it just cut the time for only Marge’s four hours…so if it’s a longer task crop, I just need to keep running Marge again and again to keep cutting the time down?
Thanks for the help! I’m down to 180 donuts, so need to be super choosy now.
It takes her 4 hours to complete…then removes an extra 4 hours once you tap her to complete it. So it does work best on higher timed crops.
These items made me finally give in and purchase donuts. I have been coveting the House of Evil FOREVER. I love that episode and the good new/bad news gag. I enjoy the Krusty Doll as well. I went for the Devil Flanders/Heck House deal as well. I just could not pass that up.
Debating The Bad Dream House. I love it when it is animated in other people’s towns, but I do not know if it is worth it for the few times it is. Holding off on it for now, until I see if any other must have items come up (like say a particular Krustyland ride. And I swear to the Heavens if the Elves show up instead…)
