Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
It’s Halloween time in Springfield! Leaves are falling, there’s a dimness to our towns, something is floating in the water…oh and items from Halloween Past have returned to our stores!
As with Halloweens past (and other events) EA has decided to make old items new again, and give players who might have missed out on something a second chance to get it. Of course that second chance doesn’t come with out a price, as many of the returning items that were once free are now premium.
Recently EA brought back several items from 2013 and 2012, Frog Prince, Freak Mobile, King Snorky, House of Evil, Krusty Doll, Bad Dream House, Devil Flanders, Heck House & Witch Marge (with her Cauldron)..oh and we’ll even cover Booberella here too!. Now many of you are curious if any of these items are worth your hard earned donuts, and we’ve broken a lot of these down for the previous events…however we decided it’d be great to give them another look in a Halloween Should I Buy reboot post!
So now let’s take a look and see if these items are worth YOUR donuts!
This will run a little different than our typical Should I Buy posts. Basically I’ll give you a quick overview, some pros and cons & my opinion on it now…but I’ll also link you to the previous Should I Buy for more insight…
Oh and before we get started, for those that don’t know NPC= Non-Playable Character.
Let’s get started with…the Frog Prince
Character: Frog Prince
Cost: 25 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2013
How Did You Get it Before: This was a community prize awarded last Halloween. So it was free to those that played.
What Does it Do: Essentially a NPC. If you tap on him he’ll make a blarf noise and say something funny like, “Once I was an innocent frog, then an incompetent boy wizard turned me into this nightmare of agony. Please don’t tap me. It just makes it hurt worse.”
And then of course…
Pros
-He’s REALLY funny. And has a great sound when you tap on him as well…
-Inexpensive for a premium item
Cons
-Too easy to accidentally tap on him. I do it often by mistake and it hangs up my game for a second while I’m waiting for his dialogue.
-Was once free and is now premium, with no added benefits.
Final Thought
This was my FAVORITE Community Prize last year. He’d make me giggle every time I tapped on him. But the novelty did wear off eventually, and now I don’t really tap him…unless it’s by mistake. While the donut price is reasonably low, I don’t know if i’d shell out the dough for him…especially when there are other premium items with more use.
Character: King Snorky
Cost: 40 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2013
How Did You Get it Before: This was a personal prize awarded last year.
What Does it Do: Essentially a NPC. He does come with a small questline but he does not have any tasks, instead you have Homer and Bart do all the work (questline here). After that a complete NPC. If you tap on him he’ll do a flip.
Pros
-3 part questline, so it will give you something to do.
-Snorky was one of the most requested characters in TSTO…
Cons
-Will just roam around your town, really no purpose to him.
-Was once free and is now premium, with no added benefits
Final Thought
I have him, he was free last year. But I never think about him. Heck half the time I don’t even see him hopping around my Springfield. Unless you LOVE Snorky as a Simpsons fan…pass on this one
Item: Freak Mobile
Cost: 35 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2013
How Did You Get it Before: This was a premium item last year.
What Does it Do: It’s a decoration, so it doesn’t do much. But it is a premium decoration so it does at a 0.75% bonus to all cash and XP and boosts your vanity rating.
Pros
-Relatively inexpensive for a premium item that will give you a decent bonus
-Looks cool with your Halloween area.
-Another “car” for Springfield
Cons
-Only improves vanity, the easiest to max out of the Conform-o-Meter Categories
-Doesn’t really do anything beyond the bonus %
Final Thought
I own it. It’s part of my Springfield, but I often forget about it. I purchased it because of the design look of it, and I liked the idea of putting it with my Freak Show tent. However, if donuts are limited you might want to pass on this one and save them for a more useful character/item.
Combo: House of Evil/Krusty Doll
Cost: 90 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2012
How Did You Get it Before: These were premium items last year. Although not a combo. The combo price is less than buying the two separately was in the past. In 2012 you earned these via collecting Event Currency. (so they were free)
What Does it Do: House of Evil is a building & talking Krusty is a doll that will walk around your Springfield. Talking Krusty is an NPC. When you tap on him either little hearts will fly our, or he’ll come at you with a knife.
Pros
-Cheaper than buying then individually last year (House of Evil was 45, Talking Krusty was 60)
-House of Evil boosts consumerism (+10)
-Talking Krusty Doll does talk
Cons
-Doll is an NPC, so another character that will just walk around Springfield.
-No character interaction with the House of Evil
-No unlock quests with either the House of Evil or Krusty Doll
-Krusty Doll is REALLY small…you might miss it in your town.
Final Thought
I own the House of Evil and love it. I do not own the Krusty Doll. Just not a fan of the NPC aspect of it. This one is a hard one because I would buy the House of Evil again, but still don’t want the Krusty Doll. If you’re a fan of the doll I say go for it or if the House of Evil is something you’ve coveted for a while in another neighbor’s town now’s your chance to grab it. But if you’re on the fence, pass on it. There are other items with Halloween that are better worth your donuts.
FYI….if you already own one of the items, you can get the other for a reduced price. For example, I already own House of Evil…but I can get the talking Krusty Doll for the 60 donuts he cost last year. I would assume you could pick up the House of Evil for the same price as last year, if you already have Talking Krusty.
Posts from last year: House of Evil
Talking Krusty
Building: Bad Dream House
Cost: 85 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2012
How Did You Get it Before: Premium item in 2013. In 2012 you earned it via collecting Event Currency. (so it was free)
What Does it Do: It’s a building, so it doesn’t do much. There are no tasks associated with it..but when it does get used it has AWESOME animation! (previously used Halloween 2012, 2013 and Stonecutters 2014).
Pros
-Awesome looking building. One of the more coveted ones for a while from a lot of new Tappers
-Looks great in a Halloween area
-Adds 10 points to Indolence.
Cons
-No tasks associated with it, so you won’t see it animated until something uses it.
-No questline associated with purchasing it
-It’s pretty big, 9×9.
Final Thought
I own it, I love it! Always makes me smile when I see it. While it doesn’t get used very often, I haven’t once regretting purchasing it. The rarity of it’s use just makes it more special when it does get used.
This is one of the most requested items we see you guys asking for in the comments, so don’t let the opportunity pass you by to pick it up now!
Combo: Heck House/ Devil Flanders
Cost: 120 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2012
How Did You Get it Before: These were premium items in the past (2013). Although not a combo. In 2012 you earned these via collecting Event Currency. (so they were free)
What Does it Do: Heck house is a facade for the Springfield Church, much like Christmas lights. Devil Flanders is a skin for Flanders. Does come with a full set of tasks.
Pros
-Heck House is animated. The letters in the sign flash.
-Devil Flanders has some great animated tasks
Cons
-Expensive for a facade and costume, nothing new associated with it
-Combo is more expensive than they were to purchase individually last year.
-No questline associated with it.
Final Thought
This one is hard. I can tell you I passed on BOTH of these last year. While Devil Flanders is cool and all I just didn’t think it was worth the donuts. And to me the Heck House, really isn’t worth the donuts. But I’m not a big Halloween fan so that could be why (i have no issue spending donuts on Christmas lights). I can tell you Devil Flanders is a highly requested skin so if you’ve been looking for him, now’s your chance to pick him up. Don’t miss out again!
Previous Posts: Heck House
Devil Flanders
Character/Combo: Witch Marge & her Cauldron
Cost: 75 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2012
How Did You Get it Before: Premium item in 2013 & 2012
What Does it Do: Skin for Marge, comes with a full set of tasks. Cauldron is a decoration, but does give a nice 2.25% Bonus with it.
Pros
-Premium tasks for Marge, that will earn 50% more Cash and XP
– She can speed up crops! This came in handy during Easter for growing carrots to get more Bunnies.
-She can Trick Or Treat during this event, which will earn you more treat bags
Cons
-No questline associated with it.
-75 donuts is pricey for a skin and decoration
Final Thought
If you have the donuts, buy it. This is the MOST useful item from Halloween. She’ll help you speed up crops, which can earn you more money in the long run. No only that but she can help you earn even MORE Treat Bags for this event! Out of all the returning items, Witch Marge is a MUST HAVE. Get her before it’s too late!
Character: Booberella
Cost: 100 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Halloween 2013
How Did You Get it Before: Premium item in 2013.
What Does it Do: New character for Springfield. Full set of tasks and questline.
Pros
-Premium character, earns 50% more cash and xp
-Really funny outdoor animations
-Questline
Cons
-Expensive
-Not voiced
Final Thought
I own her, I love her. Her burn at the stake task is probably one of my favorites. While she’s not as useful as Witch Marge, I do think she’s another must buy. So if you have the donuts and can swing her, pick her up! However…between the two (Booberella and Witch Marge) go with Witch Marge.
So that sums up all of the…”if you haven’t seen them, they’re new to you” premium items!
What do YOU think of the items? Have you purchased any? Have some from previous Halloweens? Any advice on what to buy for TSTO Noobs? Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

How fast does Marge speed up the crops? Can’t find the time in any posts…she’s awesome! Glad I could afford her 🙂
Reduces time by 4hrs. Here’s last year’s post:
http://tstoaddicts.com/2013/10/09/addicts-question-corner-possessed-characters-witch-marge-strongman-homer-spooktacular-bonus-and-more/
we’ll be doing a new post on her soon 😉
I love the House of Evil/Krusty Doll combo. One of my favorite THOH vignettes of all time. Sometimes the best “pro” is “nostalgia”.
I would add the “pro” to Booberella that she helps complete the B-List Celebrities set.
Hmm, I bought Snorky but no quest line triggered, does the quest line have prerequisites?
hmmm it’s possible it was only from last year…
I thought Witch Marge a must buy, premium treat bags plus 2.25% bonus a good buy.
I also bought the tentacle trees as 1 cop car which all premium guides recommend costs 40 donuts for 2% bonus, 1 tentacle tree is 1% for 18 donuts 2X18=36 donuts for 2% good bang for the buck, or this case donut. It also looks good if you have a creepy corner section of your Springfield.
I love the ray gun I had to have it, but you get very little ammo from it for the donut. I had an early glitch and every alien I squished in neighbors town cost me a ammo EA was like oh well starter ammo was free I lost a lot till I bought the gun and you do get GREAT drops from UFOs.
Portal is OK I think it looks good but probably not worth price for 24 extra probes a day.
I passed on Dracula Burns and other stuff like cemeteries and bad dream house, they look cool I want them, I may wish I had gotten them, as next year they may be the pay off character/house or decoration, like Witch Marge is this year. But will wait and hope to see them again next year.
You can make a nice cemetery from other decorations some nice non donut decorations available now add to the creepiness.
Just my 2 cents.
Hmmm.. I was on the fence about Witch Marge but you may have convinced me!
Most useful premium skin I’ve ever purchased. 🙂
I only have 87 donuts. Is the witch marge skin and cauldron really worth it? My original doughnut goals were to get either Frink and his lab, or Sideshow Mel and Krustylu studios. I keep trading in donuts for other things. I have no regrets about the other things, but I feel like I’m getting side-tracked from my goal. But I would get Witch Marge if you really really thought it was a must have. Please RSVP.
Thanks.
It is really personal taste. Since getting her, she has helped me in many events. This one included. I do not know her worth for future, but bonus %, tasks, etc…she is a better buy overall than any other character.
Thanks for the input Bunny and Alissa. 🙂 I broke down and bought Witch Marge skin and cauldron. I’m a freemium player. So it always hurts to use my hard earned doughnuts. I guess Frink and Mel will have to wait. 🙁
She’s a great buy! And thankfully Frink and Mel will still be there after Halloween 😉
Is witch Marge gone? I can’t find her in my store.
Nope, she should still be there.
Thanks. I will contact EA. The THOH splash page is missing from my store. All that shows are some “recommended” items and the normal build menu on the left.
That’s what I thought at first, but then I figured out the slide menu with the little arrow on it. Once you open that up and click on the flying saucer for the thoh event you will find her!
Thanks europotterz! I found it! Excellent.
Thanks guys! Will this post be updated as newer premium content is released (or re-released) for the Halloween event? I’ve heard the Super Collider & Black Hole may become available together for 85 donuts in Phase 3. Right now, I only have 57 donuts after buying Witch Marge… 🙁
As new/old stuff is added we’ll cover it. As far as new items everything has been covered except for the Drive in and the tree. Those will be coming 😉
I forgot to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH Wookie, Alissa and Bunny for this page that had helped me so much for like a year now. Kisses and hugs :)!!!
aw well you’re welcome very much!
Actuallly I got 3 neighbors with 0 probes and ray guns, but weird I see aliens when I visit them. And it was one of them I found handshakes in my Springfield.
Do we know if they will launch new past characters to buy in phase three and what they might be? Thanks 🙂
anyone’s guess as to what they’ll bring back in phase 3 🙂
Do you know how long Witch Marge will last? Her and Boobarella are all I’m missing but I only have 62 donuts. I’m hoping to earn the rest from tapping.
not sure. My guess is they’ll leave around the 30th…
With Witch marge, if I speed up a small crop so it finishes immediately, and I collect the money – Can I immediately shelve the Farm so that Marge is free – and keep the money I earned?
Yes..but you can just keep replanting even while she’s speeding up. It’ll do the same thing.
So, I’m sorry if this is a dumb question, or if it was answered elsewhere, but for those premium characters that complete a set…I’m wondering if it is with getting them. Like…do we get any kind of a bonus if we have all of them? There are some I’m not that keen on, but wondering if there is a hidden bonus to investing in them.
Oops, sorry, I mean worth getting them.
You’ll get the set complete bonus…but it’s usually on a small amount of cash (like $100 or so) and xp.
I’m on 139 doughnuts and have been saving up for Frink’s Lab got. a LONG time, but is it worth loosing that for witch marge?
If you use the farm a lot…yes. especially since Frink will still be there (and there are more donut earning opportunities…plus with Christmas coming up there will be even more) but when Witch Marge is gone she may not be back until next Halloween.
Whenever it’s “limited time offer” vs “I can buy anytime,” I always lean toward the former. But in this case, for me, the pros outweighed the cons and last Easter I really regretted not having sprung for Witch Marge because the carrot speed-up really gave an advantage to those who had her.
The way I saw it:
– 2.25% bonus for the cauldron. I looked thru the store and saw equivalent items (such as the DMV limo) costing 50 doughnuts.
– This means the Marge skin is costing, by itself, another 25 doughnuts, gaining Marge a premium set of tasks (50% more money and XP) AND the unique ability to speed up crops at Cletus’s farm by 4 hours.
Bare-chested Willie and Gorgeous Grampa were comparable skins, turning them into premium characters when they wear the skin — but cost 60 and 75 doughnuts each. With nothing else but a short quest line. Same deal with Stonecutter #2 (Dr. Hibbert) — 60 doughnuts just for a skin. Patriotic Apu from the 4th of July is the only one close in the standalone skin category in recent memory, and he was 30 doughnuts.
Sorry, maybe it’s just me, but 75 for the cauldron and Witch Marge seemed like a pretty good bargain. I even bought her for my freemium B-game, having discovered $5 unspent on my Google Play acc’t so I was able to get just enough doughnuts to put me over the top.
Awesome reasoning! 🙂
hey alissa, thanks for the overview. I bought the cauldron immediately after reading. But i also have a question about this phase~ how can i earn more ray guns? The strategy i used for the last phase wont work because you get less ray guns per alien than probe per alien. Help please?
Log on every 4hrs or so and tap all that you see. Also utilize grem-aliens, and squish any you see. And make sure you’re sending your kids to trick or treat as often as possible 🙂
Is it just me or does the bad dream house look like the berlesque house. Which is something I would love to see in the game
It has a similar look 😉
I picked up Witch Marge almost immediately. The speed up crops task is nice, but I could use the extra hand in trick or treating. (I’m playing without buying extra doughnuts, so I’ve been quite stingy with parting with the sweets)
If the combo was of House of Evil + Devil Flanders; however, I’d spend the rest of my lot (which isn’t a lot, btw).
Just throwing in my two cents worth…
Thank you very much for the overviews, pros & cons! They are extremely helpful! As a mainly freemium player who falls off the wagon every once in a while, I will probably suck it up & purchase some donuts so I can get the Bad Dream House…. It just looks so cool in everyone else’s towns!
Ok so am I the only one who despises the Frog Prince? I love him walking around town, I love him puking everywhere, I love his sound effects, but I refuse to pull him out of storage unless tptb pulls his dialogue. Way too many times he was too close to someone I wanted to tap just to have the game come to a halt while his dialogue bubble comes up, and again, and again, and finally I try to wait until they separate further but the won’t because they are walking the same direction…. Grrrrr… So into storage he went after about the 4th month of having him. My advise? I would never recommend anyone buying him (I got him as a free prize) as long as he has that dialogue bubble! Humorous at first but more and more obnoxious as time goes on.😠
HAHAHAHHAAH I did it all the time too. Lol. I do laugh at the dialog.
Is devil Flanders supposed to earn premium rates? Because I bought him and he is only earning regular rates.
No he does not earn at a premium rate.
I’m on the fence about the Freak Mobile. Doesn’t it animate when you tap on it? Like exhaust or something comes out of the tailpipes? I could be mis-remembering it from seeing it in other Springfields. It’s too bad that none of the characters have tasks that could actually drive some of these vehicles in town. I would love to have Otto driving the school bus around at times.
I got Witch Marge & Cauldron as soon as it appeared. She’s been out helping to collect treats ever since. I was little disappointed that the cauldron didn’t do anything when tapping it. But hey, at least it gives a bonus and is animated.
The Bad Dream House I got as well. It reminds me of the Addams Family house, so that was the main thing that attracted me to it. I wish the colors on it weren’t so bold (especially in comparison to the Spooky House which has faded colors). I had a little buyer’s remorse afterwards because the house didn’t do anything other than generate an income (is that missing in the description above?). I hoped it might had been used by some characters and have yet to see any of its animation. I still like it, but perhaps wish it was a little less donuts.
I’m trying to be a little cautious spending donuts and save some in case they offer the Steampunk UFO and/or Super Collider later in this event.
Bad Dream house rarely comes to life. It was the one disappointment I had too. No one uses it. So when it does come to life, I love it.
Okay, I bought the Freak Mobile. It’s cool and it does animate when you tap it. Oddly, no sound though which is surprising since some other vehicles have it. It goes well with the Bad Dream House. Both have that Addams Family vibe for me.
I picked up Witch Marge based on this article! I previously jumped on the Fortune Teller/Ghost Maude while that was still available.
I still kind of want the House of Evil/Krusty Doll combo- but I know I want Boobarella & the Drive-In- so, gotta stock up on donuts.
Got Witch marge last year and also won snorky, frog prince and Suzanne last year
Bought booberella, drive in theatre, bad dream house, house of evil with krusty doll and heck house with devil Flanders this year!
Lots of donuts I know 😉
Lol forgot to say I also bought a tentacle tree and the alpha and omega teleporters!
P.s: I anyone else experiencing lag whilst typing on the site or is it me?
Might just be you…but anyone else?
Resolved now never mind just happened a couple of times, must have been me as is suspected 😉
I went ahead and got Witch Marge. First use of my free donuts.
Also, I noticed there’s an update in the iTunes store
Just fixes..no new content
If you are interested, the game just Updated a few minutes ago on my IPad right after I updated to iOS 8.1 but I don’t see anything different in the game, thought you might want to look into it.
Just fixes no new content
Thanks, I knew you would know, I thought it might have been something to do with the iOS 8 update.
quite possibly. 🙂
So far the game and other programs and games haven’t crashed at all today (YET) since I updated to iOS 8.1
And then the the new Simpsons Update Patch installed right after it, and so far today I’ve noticed Two Changes..
1 There hasn’t been any game crashes when using Town Hall to locate a Townie being attacked by an alien, or when you do the same with the image icon in the top left corner, and it’s happend at least 5 times and no crashing yet.
2, the game scrolling seems a bit choppy and doesn’t glide easily when you scroll across town fast.
3. Nothing else has made the game crash either 🙂
I bought almost everything (first boatload of donuts ever….boy, they do go awfully quickly…) but I don’t regret anything. I do wish that I could have just got Devil Flanders (no heck house) and just got House of Evil without Krusty doll. I felt kind of ripped off there, but I wanted them so badly. I passed on the freakmobile though – didn’t appeal at all. I am definitely most happy with Witch Marge – been dying to have her forever, and I really think that the “con” of “only being a skin” isn’t quite accurate if the tasks pay out higher (many tasks with character skins do not pay out higher), so all in all a very good deal. I still think the Ray Gun might be my other happiest purchase this year. Between getting the crashed spaceship, a new ray gun, lots of ammo to earn crafting items, and already hit 30 donuts once……terrific purchase. Never did earn a single random rigellian shrub yet though….oops, I digress. Please, of please……what potentially returning KrustyLand ride is everyone referring to???
Twirl n Hurl maybe.
Is devil Flanders finally premium?
does he earn a premium rate… i mean to say
Nope. Still earns at a regular rate.
Just a lil question. Why I got 3 handshakes in my town today? :O
I don’t know…that’s REALLY odd.
Happened me too. Looks like people can still play without downloading the Halloween update (why they’d want to do that I don’t know)!! If you remember who it was, check them out in your friends list. If their probes and ray guns are at 0, it means they haven’t updated.
I had some too. I think they were from a player that had for some reason just started the Halloween event.
I hope that they’ll reintroduce the Mayan calendar+ Mayan God combo and the raven. Or something cool from this years THOH, a faquade for the school, Springfield “hellementary”
Hey Guys I realise nobody has posted on this thread since June but I need some advise..
I have an annoynomous game in which I am level 45 and had loads of cool items, I want to sign up to origin ID so I can add more people than just who I know on Facebook and I can have the security of backing up my game as I want to start buying donuts to buy some premiums (I’ve done amazingly so far and not spent a penny)
I love the bad dream house!
Will I lose my account? Or be reverted back to a lower level and lose items? How does it work? Is it worth it?
Many thanks Tappers!
It is a quick few taps from your neighbor screen to set up an Origin ID. Just tap on Bart n Milhouse again once in the main neighbor page with the “Other Springfield”. You will see the neighbor pop up and an option to “add more friends” at bottom. Once tapped…it will tell you to create an account. Follow the instructions to do so. Then it will ask “you have a springfield Level ###…do you want to link it?” If that is the one you want to link, then accept it.
If you have any concerns, you have always contact EA for help. 🙂
Thank you Bunny I will take the leap and join Origin! Thank you for the reassurance 😀
