Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Well here we are…we’ve reached the end of the Halloween update! While Halloween was officially over on November 1st, EA decided to give us a few extra days of trick-or-treating to see what prizes we could win! However…now it’s all coming to a close! So squish the last of those Rigellians, send those kids on their final Trick-or-Treat tasks, shoot down the last of those UFOs…because tomorrow it’s ALL gone!
As of right now, we see no signs of this event being extended. In the past, if an event was going to be extended, EA would make an announcement several days before it was initially scheduled to end. As of now, no announcement & no changes to the files. So I think it’s a safe bet to assume Halloween will be gone tomorrow. (and hopefully a something new in it’s place!)
So beyond the items what else do you need to know for the end of the Halloween Event? Let’s take a look at some of the steps you should know to finish out the event and get ready for some kind of update.
Based on previous events this is what we can expect to happen tomorrow:
-The set end time for the event is 8:00 GMT (3am EST…remember in the US we jumped clocks back 1 hr on November 2nd, so GMT to EST is now 5 hrs instead of 4.). However, based on past events, the update won’t end at that point. It will take the update to remove it from your game. So you should still be able to play your game for some time tomorrow morning. (remember….this is based on previous experiences. You never know with EA)
-Some kind of update will hit our games tomorrow. This will be an App Store (or Google Play Store) update, where you will need to actually go in and update your game.
–Usually, and again I say this because it’s based on what’s happened in the past, the update will hit sometime between 12PM EST and 2PM EST.
-The update may contain a new Event, or a level update, or it could just be an update to remove Halloween with nothing new in the game (like what happened after Easter). Right now we’re not seeing anything in the files to indicate anything. So we’re all flying blind & at the mercy of EA.
As always if we see anything in the files…we’ll let you know. Usually if something is going to appear in the files before the update hits it’s a 2-4 hr window before it actually hits.
What you can do to get ready if you’re on Level 46:
-Do not send your characters on 24hr tasks. Whatever task you send them on tonight into tomorrow morning make sure they’ll be free after 10AM EST (just to be on the safe side).
-Ignore all of the random quests the game will try to send you on between today and tomorrow, unless they’re short quests. Just because they’re telling you to send Bart and Milhouse for a 24hr Sleepover doesn’t mean you have to. So hold off on those quests until you know what’s going to happen tomorrow. (you’ll know it’s a random quest because there won’t be dialog popup with the task request)
-Check your App Store tomorrow, again this will be an App Store update. So you will need to download and update TSTO for it to work.
Finishing Out Halloween:
-If you haven’t yet cleared all of the prizes…keep trying. You still have time. Also, just because an update is here doesn’t mean you have to update your game. Because this will be an App Store update, if you haven’t yet cleared your prizes you don’t have to update your game. You can keep playing in Halloween and earn more Protein Strings (usually 2-3 days after the update hits, although in the recent past they’ve forced Tappers to update hours after the update hit the App Store). Just keep in mind if your neighbors have updated it makes it that much more difficult to earn Protein Strings, since you won’t be able to squish Aliens in their towns, or shoot down UFOs.
-If you’ve finished the event…STILL HELP YOUR NEIGHBORS! Visit neighbors who are behind and leave them Grem-Aliens. Also, don’t defeat Grem-Aliens in your own town…this way they can earn the max from them. This is the best way to ensure your neighbors can earn all that they can before time runs out!
-Make sure you purchase all of those limited-time items before they’re gone, if you want them. They won’t be here late tomorrow for you to make a decision on. If you’ve already purchased the Halloween items, they’re yours forever and will remain in your Springfield (or storage) unless you sell them or delete your game (via origin ID…not uninstalling from your phone). This also applies to items won. If you’ve won them, they’re yours.
So just what are the limited time Halloween items? Well here’s a complete list of everything that you will no longer be able to purchase (with think) after November 12th:
Freemium:
Dead Tree- $270
Jack-o-Lantern- $135
Pumpkin Patch– $450
Spooky Tree- $325
(Make-A-Thing will also no longer be available to build..but by now you all should have built it)
Premium:
Drive-In Theater- 150 Donuts. Comes with Space Mutant
Tentacle Tree- 18 Donuts
Portal to Rigel 7- 100 Donuts
Teleporters Alpha and Omega- 50 Donuts.

Confused about what you should purchase before it’s gone? Well here’s my advice. If you have the cash buy everything, you can add a few of each (you can also store them). I’m not saying run out and spend all of your cash on decorations, but be sure you buy them before they’re gone. Trust me you’ll regret it in a few months if you didn’t purchase them. Plus, it’s part of your “battle scars” for playing TSTO. So next summer when new Tappers are coming into the game they’ll covet those spooky decorations!

Remember the event ends tomorrow so be sure to purchase everything you need by tonight before it’s all gone!
Now…some are you are asking what to do with all the items from Trick Or Treating. Are there better items to craft? What’s the best for you to do? Well here’s my advice…
First…and most important. Craft what you like. If you want 10 Rigellian Shrubs, craft 10 Rigellian Shrubs. If you want a ton of Spooky Houses, craft them all!
If you’re looking for the best strategy when it comes to crafting, here’s my suggestion. Spooky Walls are the only items craftable that will earn you a bonus %. So if you have everything else, craft as many walls as you can (remember…you will have to place them in your Springfield in order for them to count toward your bonus). This is especially great advice for freemium players who don’t have a lot of premium items to boost their bonus %.
Now…it you’re like me and already have a fairly high rate as your bonus % and are looking for other fun things to do…craft other stuff. Personally, I’ve crafted several Rigellian Tribal Hunts & Shrubs. This will help me decorate my Rigellian area once Halloween is over.
Remember…the Pumpkin House, Spooky House & Tribal Huts should all earn you cash and xp after Halloween is over. So those are also great investments…if you have the space.
The one thing I do not recommend crafting more of…Human Test Subject.

Additional suggestion before time runs out: If you have automatic update enabled for TSTO (such as through the Google Store), and you want to play in Halloween a little longer (assuming they allow it at all), disable that automatic update.
I have played simpsons tapped out from the beginning, when it was first released & That was the worst update bar none…. It was boring & long winded, it was difficult to win prizes, & the prizes weren’t worth winning anyway… I’m very disappointed, & I’m hopeing for big things for the next update….

I liked CoC… for a freemium player, we got a lot of prizes that increase payouts.

COTC was an okay concept, fairly well thought out and unique. Easter was garbage because of the random generation crap. I would say it was on par with those two events. This was an atrocious event. I shouldnt have to play 4-6 times a day just to barely get the max prizes. The Make-a-Thing shop was good in theory except it was based on the typical EA garbage random generation crap. I have 1000 gummy bears and 700 corns and wasnt able to come close to crafting the giant pumpkin or the tribal hut. I cant stand that.
The FGQFS Ghostbusters event was great because you got everything if you played hard from start to finish. The Simpsons events seem like your lucky if you can get everything.
Actually, I think that THOH 2014 was a pretty awful update. The whole concept of rotating out prizes is stupid, and you have to be playing 24/7 to even hope of getting all of the prizes. Clash of Clones was nice because you had a reasonable time frame to collect prizes. Easter, as we can all agree on, was one of the worst updates because of the randomization, but randomization was also found in treat bags… (as Meeklo Braca said.) Unlike others, I hate the Stonecutters event, because EVERYTHING (except the Stonecutters’ Building) gave you ONE emblem. Not to mention the horrible timeframe (yay final exams!)
Not everything is for everyone. Others hated Clash and Loved Stonecutters. You dont have to like it all. Players are varied so the events are too. 😉
Agree – the earn and win prizes were beyond terrible with not even a single one giving a bonus multiplier.
However, consider this: 10 donuts from moe, 20 donuts from Kang and Kang herself – a premium character from the very start for free. Considering that and the relatively free hugo, scary house and pumpkin house this was possibly the most valuable event to date.
I agree. I got lots of doughnuts, and let’s face it- in the end, it’s all about the doughnuts. The prizes were nice too, especially, Hugo, pumpkin house, spooky house, and tribal hut.
Also, something else that I’ve noticed is that I used to get a moderate amount of Silver/Gold Treat Bags from Trick-or-Treating, and Chocolate Bars from these bags, but one update during the middle of the event did something (or I was just extremely unlucky) that made EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER give the lowest Treat Bag they could, and made chocolate bars EXTREMELY scarce (for example, I’d get like 3 chocolate bars when I have 12 Bronze/3 Silver/1 Gold)
I started playing in the middle of last years event so I only made it part way thru the prizes. However, the prizes were better. I also miss how there were personal and community prizes. This year only had personal and IMHO werent really worth the time and effort it took to get them.
I completely agree. I’ve been playing since the game was first released, and last year’s Halloween was the best out of all three since the prizes were all reasonably attainable.
I’m at almost 12 000 LPS, because my game kept giving connection errors for about 36 hours during the week, which makes me really mad because the UBO was the prize I wanted the most (DIET sign was second)
Honestly, I’ve been disappointed with this year’s Halloween event. While I did all I could (that my schedule allowed me to), I never got near the top prizes, and I was really displeased with some of the bag drop rate (like the chocolate bars), that I didn’t even get close to crafting the top prizes of the first two phases. Compared to previous events, like The Stonecutters, or last year’s TSTO, I liked the setup where you could earn about 10 limited edition items, but limiting it to 6, and 3 of them being a high goal to reach was a bit hard when the servers weren’t at their best. The crafting concept (which was interesting that both TSTO and FGTQFS both did this) was a nice addition this time around, but as said, the drop rate for some of the better items was ridiculous. But I’m at least others managed to get enjoyment out of the event, and we’ll see where EA takes us next.
It’s a bittersweet moment that it’s leaving. On one hand, I’m so done with this event, on the other, I want more. I wanted more Tribal Huts and Shrubs, but making my second Hut took away from the Shrubs, so I have five or six to make an adequate village area. Went shopping for freemium stuff, and overall, I have what I want. 13ish Spooky Walls for the bonus, about half crafted and one from before, more test subjects than I could ever want. Only crafted one because it was the last thing I could craft, and struggled to place it. All the prizes, finishing the Trick-or-Treating for the kids. All I want now is a break before Christmas. I think it’s too late to start a Thanksgiving event and have it be a good one. A 2ish week break before December to level and complete missions would be great.
I also have lots of pumpkins that will remain unused. I’m on crisis right now because I still don’t know what to craft! D:
I have the possibility to craft another Spooky House, but if I craft it I would not have enough fences to craft Rigellian Shrubs… Sigh

Argh!!!! I had saved up enough treats to get 35 spooky walls, but, by accident, I hit the Great Pumpkin, which I had absolutely no interest in, and which used up a huge number of the pumpkins I had saved up to make walls with. :(. Why couldn’t they have had some kind of confirmation for crafting???
On the positive side, I got another 30 donuts with one of my couple of remaining almost, so that made me really happy! I think those big donut infusions were the best thing in this event (or maybe tied for best with Witch Marge).
I liked the event. I wasn’t a fan of any of the prizes from collecting currency (I managed to get all of them) but I did like the craftable ones and I won at least 120 donuts, which is awesome for a freemium player. I’m torn between building a second pumpkin house or spooky walls. I want the bonus but I also think the pumpkin house may prove advantageous in upcoming Hallowe’en events… I was able to craft a second hut and two additional spooky houses as well 🙂 I do wish there was a way to exchange crafting inputs, I have SO many eggs and gummy bears and not enough fences or candy corn.
I’m sooo close to getting the UBO! But I’m maxed out for friend actions and I don’t think ill be able to get it on my own, even if I play continuously til the end of the event tonight. If anyone has any extra grem-alien eggs they don’t want, could you send them over to me please!? I would really appreciate it!

Not sure what you’ve got against the Human Test Subject but I’ll be crafting as many as I can. It helps the Conform-o-meter just as much as the Rigellian Queen does and takes up a fraction of the space.
Together with the fact that it uses different ingredients to Spooky Walls means my spare ingredients are going there – it’s either that or let the candies go to waste.

Also, my 2 cents: after an event, the servers seem to get seriously slow. After past holiday events, it was challenging for me to sign in and be able to work on my town (redecorating, etc.) so I’d suggest that you hold off major renovations for a couple of days… let the dust settle, so to speak. It’s really frustrating to start decorating and keep getting the ‘retry’ screen and lose your progress.
I think it is really good advice to pick up & store some of the things that will be going away. Do you have a suggestion of how many it is good to buy?
I started playing during COC, didn’t realize it was going to end (or exactly what that meant) and was so sorry I didn’t spend the last of my elixir on some different things.
So I looove the dead trees, but don’t have room for like 50 of them in my Springfield just now. but do you think they (and the pumpkin patch) will appear next year, so I don’t have to worry about it so much?

Just depends on how you like to decorate your Springfield. I have at least 5 of everything…that way I can play around with it all
For what it’s worth, both the dead trees and the pumpkin patches were available during last year’s Halloween event as well, so it’s a pretty safe bet that they’ll be back again next year. But if you have some extra cash right now, it certainly wouldn’t hurt to buy a few more just in case.
I hope that there’s a break between events – I need time to reorganize my town! Especially once I started building the bigger board-with-a-nail-in-it weapon, my tap radius has widened and caused me to turn on nearly all of my Christmas lights. I’ve been too busy squishing to bother with fixing them, so my town looks like I’m That Guy on the block that puts their Christmas decorations up right after Halloween! 😉
No lie. My neighbor keeps their lights on their house all year. I understand that because they’re older and have a hard time with it. However, this year they started turning them on TWO WEEKS BEFORE HALLOWEEN. TWO. WEEKS. I wanted to turn them into the Christmas police. Heh.
Wait, you mean IRL? What?!?! That’s too soon too soon. Don’t get me wrong, I like Christmas but working in retail for way too long makes me angry that it starts earlier and earlier every year. Ps. I’m totes stealing the Christmas police. That’s a new classic!
Chatonka here. I put my “projects” houses Xmas lights on all year because us poor white trash do, in fact, don’t take them down. This fact makes me giggle and therefore replicate it in my town. Perhaps that’s it.
I was wondering why some of my neighbours had Christmas lights suddenly come on.
Lol. Some put them up year round.
I loved this update. I think it’s right up there with my favourite updates ever. I won so many free donuts (including 90 from shooting down UFOs) that I was able to buy both Kodos and Witch Marge – I WAS trying to save up for Otto, but since he’ll still be there long after Halloween is over, he had to wait. I was hoping to get enough for the mini black hole and super collider too, but I didn’t quite make it.
I won all of the main prizes and I like most of them, with my favourites being the mutant peacock and the DIE(T) sign. The donut torture device and UBO are both fun prizes from a couple of my favourite episodes, but I’m just not sure how often I’ll actually make use of them – still, I’m glad I have them.
I waited until today to see if there would be any more prizes to craft, and when I didn’t see any I just went ahead and crafted all the gold treat bags I could, and found 2 or 3 more donuts in them. Once the kids finish their final round of trick or treating tonight (tasks that I will really miss after this event is over) I’ll use up the rest of the stuff to craft whatever I can (probably more spooky walls and a Rigellian hut).
what to do with leftover items (got a tons of gummibears but can’t craft with them…..)? Any good advice?
They already removed a lot of things to buy…I thought I had till the countdown ran out =(
What did they remove for you? I bought a bunch of stuff right at the end of the countdown. Really wanted some things I couldn’t afford, but at least the spooky walls will help my bonus.

I’ve been looking forward the closeout post for the past couple of days. Not because I wanted to event to end, but I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything. 🙂
I wish the spooky walls didn’t use the same candy types as the pumpkin houses. I really like the pumpkin house design so I’m going to craft as many of them as I can which means no walls (or maybe a couple if I have a bit leftover). Looking over the candy types I’ll probably get a few extra spooky houses as well. Too bad there’s no way to use the extra candy of a single type by itself — I’m going to have a lot of extra gummy bears.
