Anyway enough rambling from me….it IS Sunday and you know what that means, right? No it’s not time to see if Dominick the Donkey is in town! Nope it’s time for another Sunday Night Open Thread!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

I am enjoying this event so far. I was shut out of my game for a little while Saturday and missed the present bonus because of that (combined with being busy earlier in the day). The EA servers were apparently down as well when I tried to complain, but in the end it’s a minor setback in an otherwise fun event.
I would be lost without you Addicts explaining the event as usual.

I was really looking forward to the Christmas event & it’s even better than I was expecting. I am having the cannot connect to server issues on my ipad & phone but have been able to use my phone by using my data. At the minute I am right on track with the numbers looking at the calendar. Thanks for your constant posts on all the tasks it helps me plan who to sent to which task first.
Anyone else having fed trouble. My game quits on me whenever I send them 😬
Try hard closing, restarting your device and reloading TSTO. See if that helps the issue.
I’m really looking forward to some more stuff for sale in part 2. I can’t say I’m overly overwhelmed with the stuff in part 1. Maybe I’m just not a jolly enough person to see the joy in an egg nog bar or lawn bells haha. I’d like a character/building combo besides King Winter and his cave. He doesn’t look all that appealing and I think he’d look out of place too. Costumes to me aren’t all that appealing either, the only one I’ve ever jumped on is Marge’s Witch costume. ‘Spose we’ll see what else comes in 15 days, if anything else comes at all that is.
Woke up this morning to find another Boardwalk section ready for me. Went to create another one only to be told I have completed the maximum number. Woohoo! Now that was a marathon session!
lol it takes FOREVER…but when you’re done it’s such a nice sense of “I did it!” Of course now you’ll miss making them…lol
You’re so right. I remember when it started people complaining that it would take over nine months to complete (without donuts) and would cost so much. Now it’s done I will miss it and no doubt will find myself occasionally clicking on the Squidport just in case there are any more to create.
Yeah, after missing out on the bonus presents yesterday, I’ve decided to hold off completing tunnel 6 until this first part of the main questline is complete. Hopefully tunnel 7 won’t involve Homer or Lisa (or Mr. Burns for that matter), otherwise I’m holding off on the next one too. Annoying because I want everything *now* buuuut, nowhere nearly enough to spend donuts or miss out on another 100 presents. Oh, and that 4hr bell sabotaging task is gonna wait too.
Oh, and that was meant as a reply to elwyn5150…whoops.
Loving the Christmas event so far. Luckily I’ve had time to tap at work last week despite it being one of the busiest I’ve known in a while and it isn’t even Christmas week yet. Mostly because too many managers were off ill and so I had to step up for a couple of days. Don’t get paid for it though 😒.
Got an extra day off today though and I would still be asleep now except I have cats that require feeding and
It’s finals week. It’s too bad I’m not getting tested on Tapped Out. :-/
I’very been enjoying this event so far. I like that the 24 hour tasks don’t automatically reset at midnight, like with the stonecutter event. However I have been plagued with connection issues all weekend and have only been able to play for short periods. I’m about to miss out on my second 100 present bonus. At this rate I’ll never be able to catch up without spending donuts. 🙁 hopefully a permanent fix is coming tomorrow.

The Thanksgiving mini-event came and went so quick and the current Christmas Event was right on its heels, I never had an opportunity to share the Thanksgiving Day Parade I created in my Springfield. Here’s a screenshot. I was originally going to use Caged Tom Turkey as the final “float” in the parade, but after reading about it here, I felt it cost too many donuts for what you get and I would only have it on display in my town for Thanksgiving time, so I passed on it. The “Simpsons Go to Hell” float which is in its place isn’t very much in the spirit of the holiday for the parade, but it is ‘The Simpsons’, so absurdity goes with the territory.

Yes, I imagined commentators there from Channel 6 covering each group marching in the parade. Of course Kent Brockman is there relaxing in a lounge chair watching the parade go by in his swimsuit at the end of November (brrr…).

Something very odd indeed is happening to me; I have my full compliment of neighbours, but it just won’t let me into one neighbour’s town in particular. I’ve been trying for 3 days! I can visit all my other neighbours, but every time I try to visit this one my game freezes. I deleted and sent another friend request, which they accepted, and I still can’t get in, does anyone have any ideas?! They’ve sent me Feds and I can’t do anything, I feel terrible!
They could have an issue with their game that’s locking you out. It happens from time to time. They most likely don’t have access to their game either…
I’ve had handshakes and Feds off them, so they don’t seem to have any problem getting in. It’s all very strange!
Click on their Krustyland instead of their town — you should be able to visit there and at least let them know you are visiting. It sounds to me like this friend has too many items in their Springfield and your device is crashing when it tries to load the town.
Not sure if this is something new or not, but when I was in my Krustyland I clicked on the ongoing tasks and the donut cost to rush complete them was about 35 million (34491955 to be exact). I don’t think I could justify $15,000 to advance an hour in the Christmas storyline ;-p

Have you ever thought about a separate post for tech problems like there is for finding neighbors? I sign up for the email notifications so I know when my question is answered and I enjoy seeing what others think of whatever is going on at the moment. Instead I get 200+ emails a day saying ‘I can’t log on, can someone help me?’
We have them….(it’s our Q & A page). 🙂 The problem is people still don’t put them on the right threads…and with something like a technical issue it’s hard to delete the comment like we do with Friend requests if it’s not on the right post. Especially since we’re here to help as best we can.
I think this event it’s really well done overall! It’s very engaging, with plenty you need to do to earn stuff, but very doable and much less stressful than the Halloween event. They’ve given the user a little more control over things by starting the tunnel clock when you start the tunnel. There have begun lots of little goodies to earn along the way, for both first-timers (like me) and those who have done the TSTO Christmas event before. There’s also more stuff to look forward to as it progresses (a flaw with CoC, which I got through fairly quickly and then spent a lot of time doing repetitive stuff just to get more of the same decorations).
The only thing I long for in this event, is some kind of way to possibly earn a chunk of donuts, like we had with doing down the aliens in the Halloween event. I could really use another 90 donuts, like I was able to earn in that event!
I do feel bad for the folks with connection problems though…I would be super frustrated and bummed if that happened to me. I want everyone to be having the same fun I’ve been having!
I’ve only been playing five months now, but feel that this event has more strategy involved than any event I’ve played thus far (Clash of Clones, THOH 25 or Thanksgiving) as you really have to plan the order of the tunnel tasks to try to qualify for that 24-hour 100 present bonus. I missed one bonus, but can live with that. I was locked out for a few hours on Saturday, but can live with that too. The best part of this event has been the pleasure of having about one (or even more) new item a day to look forward to. I’m really hoping to make it through all the tunnels and then try to see if I can earn some donuts!

Those of us not on that part of the quest line, are we behind? I don’t feel behind because I’m getting through all the daily tasks, getting my bonus, and have cleared the sponsored church as of tonight.
No. Pace yourself. You’ve got plenty of time to complete the questline. The most important thing is you’re on track with Bunny’s Calendar…or close to it. That way you can make sure you get all the prizes before Part 1 ends.

I’ve noticed when I’m collecting my friends on some of them when I first enter there is a siren that goes off, does this happen to anyone else and does anyone know what it means. Thanks for any feedback.

I think it just means there are Feds in that town. But we can’t do anything with them as visitors to that friend’s Springfield.

I know this is kind of random, but I was reading the dialogue on the Jingle Bell Wreck Quest that tells Homer to do a Plant Shift. I accidentally skipped, like, the whole thing, so could someone please give a summary of what was said and why he is doing the shift? Thanks!

In tech support, we refer to throwing the device as an “impact reset” — it generally doesn’t solve the issue and voids the warranty! 😉
Great event so far. It’s my first Tapped Out Christmas since joining back in March, so I’ve been looking forward to this for a looooooong time. Hoping to get a few more buildings/characters from years past – any idea when additional items will be available to buy during this event?

I was visiting a friend’s Springfield this evening and saw what looked like a carved-ice Shiva sculpture. Is this something new, and if so, where can I get one? I think it would make a nice companion piece with the brass Shiva I have in front of my church.
I was also wondering, how much time does it take for a Brown house to generate presents for my visiting neighbors? I’ve added another dozen Brown houses since the start of the event, and I pop into my Springfield throughout the day to reset visited houses and businesses, but since I have a lot of friends, I want to make sure everyone visiting me can get their quota of presents.

It is the Ice God available last year. Based on all the returning stuff, we may see it again. Gotta say while it’s beautiful during winter, it is hideouse for the other 10ish months. Brown houses earn rent every 5 minutes. You can collect away on those and still help out friends.
Despite the fact I cannot play when I was able to get on (EA have assured me they are working on a fix) I love this event and I love the tunnels I loved the idea when they did it earlier in the year and even better this time we don’t have to work out who is a kook etc as it goes straight to the appropriate character!
Would be totally lost without this site though to guide us through and fingers crossed when I can play it will be worth the wait!

EA: Great update! Some minor glitches (and a few major ones, I’ve heard) but overall I’m happy not to see random things I have no chance to win because random luck doesn’t seem to go my way in this game very often. Also, in my time zone, the new episode of Simpsons is playing right now. I would really like the chance to get the cooling tower decorations that showed up in the first few minutes of the episode. Best. Event. Ever.

I’m a bit annoyed by how frequently the game just crashes for no reason on Android.
I’m also annoyed at how there are all these tasks from Santa and key characters such as Homer and Lisa are needed both in the storyline tasks and the Santa tasks.
Yeah, that one bothers me a little too. I wait to see who the next tunnel is going to need before I have Homer or Lisa do anything else.
Ditto on the competing story lines. Really annoying to see Homer sent on a 24 hour task, and need him to complete an elf-cave task as well.
Homer is in his 19th hour of his 24 hour strike at the moment. I will still be able to finish in time.
I also want to send Marge out to do her 16 hour task and Bart on his 10 hour task that will earn presents but you never know if the next Santa task will interfere.
