Should I Spend Donuts On…Easter Redux- The Buildings

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s Easter in Springfield and with the new event in town lots of items from Easter past have made their way back to the store.

As with events past EA has decided to make old items new again, and give players who might have missed out on something a second chance to get it.  Of course that second chance doesn’t come with out a price, as many of the returning items are premium.

The Easter buildings making a comeback this year are: The Blocko Store & Banana Dictatorship…Johnny Fiestas too, if you count the freemium ones.

I know many of you have been asking if these items are worth your Sprinkles. Well before you hit that confirm button…let’s break down the pros and cons and take a look and see if these buildings are worth YOUR donuts!

Blocko Bunny

This will run a little different than our typical Should I Buy posts.  Basically I’ll give you a quick overview, some pros and cons & my opinion on it now…but I’ll also link you to the previous Should I Buy (if applicable) for more insight…

REMEMBER: ALL of these items will leave the store on 4/7/15 (Which is also when the event is slated to end).  So make your purchases before then…or you’ll miss out.

So let’s kick things off with everyone’s favorite building toy…LEGOS and the Blocko Store…

blocko building

Building: Blocko Store
Donut Price: 50 donuts
Dimensions: 6×5
Payout: $200, 20xp every 12hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Consumerism+10
How You Got it Before: Won it in the Pink Easter Box

Pros
-Great design
-Will be used by Chalmers, 2hr task there.
-Boosts Consumerism, one of the hardest areas of the conform-o-meter to max out

Cons
-Was initially free
-Animation isn’t that great, when in use the doors open but that’s about it

Final Thought
Premium
If you missed out on it last year during Easter now is your chance to grab it.  And I strongly suggest you grab it.  The Blocko Store is one of my favorites.  I love the look of it and I don’t think you’ll regret picking it up.

Freemium
If you have the donuts I say grab this one.  I’m usually not a fan of buildings without characters, but I think this one is really designed well and I like the fact that it comes with a permanent task for Chalmers.

banana dictatorship

Building: Banana Dictatorship
Donut Price: 30 donuts
Dimensions: 5×5
Payout: $135, 15xp every 8hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Obedience+10
How You Got it Before: Won it in the Gold Easter Box

Pros
-Looks cool
-Can be placed on Squidport
-Will be used by Bernice Hibert

Cons
-Only impacts Obedience, lately one of the easier areas to max out
-Looks cool, but not bright and colorful like the Blocko Store.

Final Thought
Premium
Just like the Blocko Store, if you missed out on this one now’s your chance to get it.  It’s at a fair price and a chance to grab a building from Easter past.  If you have the donuts grab it…but I will say given the choice between the two, I’d rather have the Blocko Store.

Freemium
Personally, if I was a freemium player I’d pass on this one and go for the Blocko Store.  I do think the store is the better investment.  So if you’re limited on donuts, I’d pass on the Banana Dictatorship.

Just remember…whatever you decide you have until April 7th to make your final decisions or these buildings will once again disappear from the store!  So be sure to make your decisions before then.

  1. I bought Johnny Fiesta because I already have Banana Dictatorship and Blocko store. Very happy about!
But I thought would be helpful to buy a second Blocko store, considering Consumerism. But is not available in the store to buy. Maybe because is NOT allowed to have more than one building of each kind? Talking only about this three buildings. Thank you for helping me to understand and for being there ALWAYS for all of us, addicts! :))

  2. I used to think I had done poorly in last year’s event, but considering that I had the first two buildings and I now managed to swoop the Johnny fiesta for cash, I am pleased!

  3. fairiesnboots

The only building of the three I won during Easter was the Blocko Store. I guess I should be happy that I won the most expensive. I immediately bought Johnny Fiestas, for in game cash I’d be silly not to! I’m seriously considering buying Banana Dictatorship because I love the way it looks in my friends towns and I’ve wanted it all year, plus it’s only 30 donuts. Decisions decisions….

  4. I got Jonny Fiestas on my squidport ….and am attempting to hide the Blocko store behind a taller building so my other half don’t realise I been spending donuts ……she’s a nosey neighbour-eeno …. always asking what I’m building etc.

Decided to get the Blocko after reading what Alissa said about consumerism rating on the conform-o-meter … (not that I’m anywhere near 5 stars, …. but it may count in the future)

  5. Chranberry778

With this new update I went up 5 levels in 2 Days.

  6. With the blocko building is Chalmers task a reference to an episode at all or just EA giving players a little extra for their donuts than just a building?

  7. I’m a freemium player I did have 118 donuts and was saving for crazy cat woman (don’t think it will ever happen) ended up getting blocko and banana dictatorship then thought what the hell i hardly have any donuts left anyway so brought 6 mystery boxes and won svt, bhl, kearney, billboard, channel 6 van, pond and bomb shelter. Now got 2 donuts left (sad face) but I’m happy I got so much premium stuff for 116 donuts 😀 I’m hoping ea scrap these new mystery boxes at the end of the month and put more premium characters in so we get even more premium stuff lol. Get a free box tomorrow so hoping for tire fire or lard lads fingers crossed.

  8. Of course Johnny’s was the only one I got last year and of course us the only freemium one this year lol. However I did get Father Sean so….

  9. I won both the premium buildings last year. The Blocko store is one of my favourite buildings in my town, but the Banana Dictatorship is such a weird shape. I ended up putting it on a corner – it really looks odd placed in between any other buildings. I think I would probably still snap it up for 30 donuts, but bear in mind you might need to do some rearranging to accommodate it.

  10. I’m tempted by the Banana Dictatorship one, but not at all by the Blocko one. The 6hr task for Bernice would be handy too. I’ll be thinking about it…

  11. Very fair prices but the revamped mystery box has made me happy man – just got Blue haired lawyer! 😃 90 savad for something else

  12. 3 awesome buildings for 80 donuts and some change sounds like the deal of the year to me… well, other than these revamped mystery boxes!

i know the banana dictatorship isn’t as colorful as the blocko store, but it’s still one of the best designed buildings in this game, and an absolute freakin steal at just 30 donuts (makes my purchase of the abandoned store they brought back during vday seem like a waste of 30 donuts). i love the freemium takes, and am usually in agreement with them. however, in this case i would say if you got the donuts, it’s a must buy, regardless of whether you bought the blocko store or not. one of the few regular buildings that can go on squidport as well….

  13. I never won the Blocko Store last year and fifty Donuts is a reasonable price (attention all noobs, if you’ve got the donuts? pick up this Building so that Chalmers has a 2 hour task).

I’ve got Banana Dictatorship from last year (its nice to give Bernice Hubbard an additional task), noobs with thirty Donuts to spare will get their $’s worth.

Johnny Fiesta’s is a no brainer (just clicking on the Building to hear the music makes me feel festive), and you can put this Freemium Building on Squidport Pier. 🙂

    • it’s nice actually seeing a relatively positive post from you for once! but what’s up with the condescending noob remarks? it’s not like you being mr longtime tapper had any effect on winning those items last year, since you still missed out on the blocko store. and you’ve made it pretty well known you’ve always been strictly a freemium player, so you are basically in the same boat as any other non-preemo player contemplating the use of premium currency, recent or otherwise.

  14. Unrelated, but can you make a list of the odds for the new mystery box? Also, if you already have some of the characters or other premium prizes does it give you their value in donuts? Or does it just increase your chance of getting crap?

  15. Anyone experiencing any glitches when trying to send a person to work? It will blink and then the character task for me to click on goes away?

    • Seems to be going around. If you tap the icon in the top left corner it should avoid this

    • Ok, I was wondering if it was just me.

Almost regularly when I have a bunch of characters to send off on tasks, I tap either the character or the upper left character button to bring up their task list and it disappears. Sometimes I touch the list to select a task and it disappears; other times it disappears all by itself.

    • I’m still experiencing this glitch as well. It’s somewhat annoying so I hope EA fixes the bug soon.

  16. I don’t know what to do.

I am a freemium player just now. And have 120 donuts. Was going to use them for the school bus but given that these buildings are very cheap to purchase I keep wondering if I should and save again for the next items. I have a feeling I will purchase donuts in the future just to get the items I want in my town but don’t want to become addicted to premium items too soon 🙂

    • lol it’s tempting I know. In the end it’s going to have to come down to what you want. Otto will still be there next week, but these buildings will not. So if you think you really want them and will regret not picking them up, then grab them. 🙂

      • I think i might fight myself over the next few days first 🙂
I thought I had a normal addiction to tsto (since starting in December) but since the discovery of this site and the benefit of having so many neighbours and getting all the prizes in the superhero event I just want more now lol tsto has taken over my life…Please help lol.

Currently writing a dissertation and it’s write a few lines then tap out then repeat lol not productive at all.

    • you will definitely regret not picking these buildings up! hehe, besides the fact that otto is permanent, the other thing to perhaps consider (i do this all the time) is that otto and the school bus have been sold for a discounted rate at least twice within the last year (back to school gil deal and gil’s black friday). might be worth waiting in case it is discounted again in the future.

  17. yellowbrai913

I won these all last Easter and I love having them in my town. They are pretty reasonably priced too so if you have the donuts go for it!

  18. I was so happy with the fair pricing on these buildings and I really really wanted them so I picked them up right away. Though they were free in the past I don’t mind spending my hard earned freemium donuts on them.

  19. The plural of Lego is lego! 🙂

    • cause it’s usually followed by blocks or bricks 😉

      • No, cause that’s its name and correct spelling. You’ll never find anything official using that spelling as the Lego company doesn’t accept it. It’s a purely an American colloquialism 🙂

  20. Today I got a blue haired lawyer in a mystery box. Especially since I’m puking today like its going out of style.

    • I’m waiting for a post abouth mistery box. Blue haired lawyer came with a explanation from mr. Burns about new prizes from it. Btw I’ve got a burning tires today as well. Looking fwd to found out what can we get from mistery box. Is it worth buying.
Bunny come on with the explenation…

      • Well…I usually write the Should I Buy posts, not Bunny lol

However, you’re on your own with the Mystery Box. It’s one of those things that if you don’t have any of the items you’re likely to get them, but the more items you have the odds of you getting “junk” increases. This one is on you to decide if you want to take a shot for 6 donuts…

      • Alissa, I know what you mean by “junk”, and I tend to agree – but only cos I now have a few of them but I would point out one thing…

The cycle seems to go roughly like this (if you have all the unique items already, that is)
        _ONDA
        Khlav Kalash stand
        Minnow Pond
        Bomb shelter
        Channel 6 van
        I&S billboard
        Donuts (either 10 or 30)
The order is different, but those 7 seem to be on a cycle with the occasional Lard Lad thrown in (I’ve bought so many boxes it’s silly!)

So, back to my point – for 7 Mystery Boxes you will pretty much definitely get 3% bonus (2% from the van and 1% from the billboard). It’ll cost you 42 donuts but you’ll also get back either 10 or 30.

That’s a pretty good %age bonus return for the donuts spent.
I suspect they’ll drop how often the donuts pay out.
In fact, if the 1-2% you quoted in another reply is true, then it sounds like they already have.

      • I just bought another 4 (cost: 24 donuts) to see if donuts were rare.
My 4 boxes gave a Minnow pond, Lard lad, Channel 6 van, 30 donuts.

I reckon they’re well worth doing! Even if you’ve got everything ‘good’.

      • Alyssa and Wavey tnx for yor replys.I’ve got 30 donuts left. Think I’m gonna waste them on mistery boxes…

      • yup just did a few rounds tonight with the son, here’s what we got:

        5th day free box: billboard
        1. 30 donuts!
        2. onda
        3. minnow pond
        4. khlav kalash
        5. news van
        6. billboard
        7. onda
        8. bomb shelter
        9. khlav kalash
        10. lard lad
        11. billboard
        12. 10 donuts
        13. minnow pond
        14. khlav kalash
        15. billboard
        16. news van
        17. 30 donuts!

for a total of 32 donuts, i’d say that’s more than a fair share’s haul. and this is after already acquiring everything from the new mystery box at least once (3rd lard lad, 3rd and 4th news van, many billboards!).

  21. Otto has a 2 hour task atJohnny Fiesta’s & it plays music when tapped. I got it last year and still love the look of it. I placed it beachfront and added a patio area.

  22. 4kidsandacatdog

Banana Dictatorship says Bernice Hibbert will use, but the original Easter building breakdown post doesn’t say anything about this. What is her task there?

    • Yea that’s because the building post was written before Bernice was released in the game. Her task is a 6hr Look for a new Power Suit task

  23. Is that a permanent task for Bernice Hibert with the Banana Dictatorship? If yes how long of a task? I sorta hate that she doesn’t have more shorter tasks, the choice of 60 minutes or 12 hours by herself miffs me somewhat.

    • It’s a 6hr task, Look for a New Power Suit.

      • barleecreations (canid88)

Ooh, I’m gonna have to think if I can afford to buy that building then. A 6 hour task would be helpful. Thank you Alissa!

    • If you plan ahead a little bit, she has a 4-hour task with Marge and an 8-hour one with Dr. Hibbert. I got tired of seeing her stumbling around drunk, so I now head to City Hall first and select her from the census before assigning other characters tasks for either of those durations. Hope that helps!

  24. Hmmm am on the fence now. Was going to pass on both buildings, but now that I know that characters use them, am not sure. Would be nice to get rid of a kwik-e-mart franchise but I tend to keep Chalmers on his 10 hr task.

  25. Hi , until today i noticed that when i buy a house the price goes up if i Want to Put the next one and if i had too much houses of one especific type the price is $216000 i get shocked

  26. BTW I’m referring to the fact that they have now become premuim. Not that I was under the understanding that they already were lol. Also I believe it should be noted that until EA corrects the issue of them not earning a premium payout with there associated task for Bernice an Chalmers it should be mentioned in your above post so you don’t get alot of people complaining from buying them under false expectations of EA past system with regular characters an premium buildings an the task associated with them. Also so you don’t get a lot of people asking the same question. Are there task payouts premium lol. Happy tapping

  27. If these two buildings are premium an I had them already from last year then why arent they paying out a premium payout for Bernice an Chalmers task that are associated with them? Other buildings do for example cbg an the aztac theater or the krustyland lady an the studio task she has. Iv checked both task an there currently not paying out like they should be an this IMHO is a issue that should be addressed. Happy tapping

  28. The Blocko Store was one of the few items I won last year but I was happy as who doesn’t love LEGO? Although it would be nice if Chalmers’ task there now paid out as premium.
I am considering the Banana Republic but it’s shape doesn’t make it easy to design with so I may still pass.
Of course I snapped up Johnny Fiestas, can’t pass up freemium content. 🙂

  29. Been waiting for this post! Will be swooping up the blocko store! Thank you!

  30. I won the first two buildings last year. Johnny’s was the only one I didn’t get. So happy it only cost money and not donuts.
