The Curtain Is Soon Closing On Terwilliger Act 1 (And Kids are All Fight)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Here we are in the final few hours of Terwilliger Act 1…are you ready for Act 2 to start up?!

I know many of you are stressing out about not earning enough items to craft the Farmer’s Market or not getting enough spades (spatrowvels) to unlock all of the prizes…but don’t sweat it!  Really.  It’s going to be ok.

Let’s break down what’s leaving, what’s staying and what’s cha- cha- cha-changing, when Act 2 kicks off!

Note: Act 2 Offically Starts at 0800 GMT (4am EDT) on 4/28…

mhud_eventpanel

So, here’s what we know…

What’s Leaving…

Basically everything from The Kids are All Fight Episode tie-in (note that ends at 0700 GMT (3am EDT)..so about an hour before Act 2 starts)…

So grab them while you can…

bartsbigwheel_menu Bart’s Three Wheeler- $7,500

nightmarepile_menu Nightmare Pile- 100 Donuts.  Note: You DO NOT have to complete the tasks for this before the tie-in ends, only purchase it.  You’ll have as much time as you need to complete the tasks.

Wondering about Lisa’s Car?  Well…as long as you’ve started the questline for The Kids Are All Fight you’ll have about a month to complete it and earn the car (the questline kill date).  So just make sure you work on the questline as you can over the next month to ensure you unlock her car for free…

From Terwilligers…

republicanpartyhq_menuRepublican Party HQ- 90 Donuts.  Should I Buy can be found here.

museumofswordfish_menuMuseum of Swordfish- 70 Donuts.  Should I Buy can be Found here.

What’s Staying…as is

ico_stor_terwilligers_farminglicenseThe Farming License- 90 Donuts…although if you didn’t already get it, I don’t recommend buying it now.

itsawonderfulknife_menu gino_play_with_handmade_toys_active_1It’s A Wonderful Knife & Gino- 150 donuts.  This pair is sticking around until the Terwilliger Event leaves Springfield…

williestractor_menuWillie’s Tractor- 35 Donuts.  This does leave on May 5th…

ALL of the items you can craft!

canefield sanijohnsmokehouseflipped springfieldfarmersmarketflipped monsarnocafeteria monsarnoprimateresources

Yes, that’s right ALL of the Act 1 Craftable items will still be in the craft menu when Act 2 hits…so there’s NO RUSH to get the Farmer’s Market (or anything else).  For a complete crafting guide for Act 1 check out this post…

Corn and Fertilizer

ico_terwilligers_fertilizer_lg ico_terwilligers_corn_lg

Both Corn and Fertilizer will be used and needed during Act 2.  So whatever amounts you have will carry over into Act 2.  So keep collecting!

ico_terwilligers_mutantseeds_lgmutantseedling_idle Mutant Seedlings- Yes…these lovable blobs will be sticking around for Act 2.  So you can hang onto them if you want to get a head start on the new prize currency when Act 2 starts.  Once Act 2 starts they’ll act the same as they did during Act 1 only now they’ll drop the Act 2 prize currency (instead of Spades) along with Corn and Fertilizer

What’s Staying….but Changing

Act 1 Prizes

monsarnofounderstatueico_terwilligers_oldsimpsonfarm_unlock  petmutantplant_menu

Once Act 1 is over the prizes you haven’t yet won will remain….BUT they’ll be moved to become craftable items.  Which means you’ll need Fertilizer and Corn to craft them once Act 1 is over…

What’s Going…

ico_terwilligers_spades_lg Spades/Trowels/Shovels…oh how we’ll miss you Spatrowvels!

Once Act 1 is over Spades will no longer be a currency in the event and they will be replaced by something else…and no, your spade count will not carry over.  You’ll start all over again in earning the new currency from 0.

Strategy

Homer

A lot of you are asking me what’s the best strategy for going into Act 2…and really that’s a personal choice.  It depends on how you play and where you are in the event.

In otherwords…I cannot tell you what to do or don’t do.  I can only tell you what I would/wouldn’t do.

I DO recommend crafting the Farmer’s Market as soon as you can (if you’re close) so it’s out of your focus for the event.  So if you can craft it now, do it.  Do hold onto those items because you’re worried about upgrading when Act 2 starts.  Upgrading won’t cost you nearly as much, and once you’ve crafted the Market it’s off your mind and you can focus on the new items introduced for Act 2.

I DON’T recommend leaving mutant veggies in your town, unless you plan on staying up all night.  They’ll still replenish as usual so there’s no need to hoard them for a long period of time…remember you can only have 40 in your town at a time.

Personally, I’ve been saving my Mutant Seeds for Act 2 to start.  This will give me a head start on earning the new prize currency, as well as help my neighbors get a head start as well.  But to each his own…what works for me may not work for you.

Again take it with a grain of salt…and make up your own mind about what to do.  A lot of you are still questioning me about the Farmer’s Market.  Honestly, if you don’t want to craft it…don’t.  It’s your choice.  That’s the beauty about a game with free will.  I’m just saying that’s not how I would do it (and not what I did).  Personally on the Farmer’s Market for me…I knew that if I didn’t craft it as soon as I could I probably wouldn’t.  With Fertilizer being required for Upgrading in Act 2 as well as new prizes I knew it would be easy to forget about the Market and not craft it.  So for me I decided to craft it as soon as I could.  Since I could easily earn enough Fertilizer to upgrade to Level 8 once it hit and continue to move up.

Again…that’s what I did (and why I did it).  What you want to do is up to you.  You’ve got to do what makes sense to you…

Act 2 Leveling Up

ico_terwilligers_monsarnoupgrade_md

A lot of you are worried about Leveling Up Monsarno when Act 2 starts, and yes it will be a factor.  However, don’t stress about it.  The amount of Fertilizer and Corn needed to level up is no where near that which you’ll need to craft.  Let’s take a quick look at some patterns in the cost to level up during Act 1…

During Act 1…
Level 2 cost 150 Fertilizer 25 Corn
Level 3 cost 300 Fertilizer 50 Corn
Level 4 cost 450 Fertilizer 75 Corn
Level 5 cost 600 Fertilizer 100 Corn

Are you starting to see the pattern?

Each level increase required an additional 150 Fertilizer and 25 Corn.  So based on that pattern, if Act 2 continues on that pattern (and I don’t see why it wouldn’t)…

Level 8 will cost 1050 Fertilizer 175 Corn
Level 9 will cost 1200 Fertilizer 200 Corn
Level 10 will cost 1350 Fertilizer 225 Corn

And so on…

As you can see Leveling up will be MUCH easier than crafting (plus this will help some of you know how much to set aside for leveling up).  So don’t stress about it!

Neighbor Visits

ico_terwilligers_upgrade_highrollers

Remember it takes 24hrs for the timers to reset, so if you’ve visited your neighbors already today you won’t be able to go into their towns right when Act 2 hits, you’ll need to wait the full 24hrs to start visits again.

What We Know/Speculate….

-New items will be added to craft (in addition to the old ones).
-New Act 2 Prizes will be added (Act 1 prizes move to craftables).
– Cecil’s Daily Tasks will continue into Act 2
-A new crafting currency will be added…in addition to Corn and Fertilizer
-More of the Terwilliger family will be unlocked as the event continues

So there you have it my friends…just some quick basics on what to do to get ready for Act 2 starting up in the morning.  And, hopefully, a reassurance guide that there’s no need to panic!  Remember…the most important advice we can give you…Don’t Spend Donuts to Craft Items, Rush Tasks or Get Prizes. This event is meant to be long and tedious.  Everything can be achieved without spending donuts, as long as you put the time it.  It may take you a while to get there, but you can and will get there.  So don’t spend donuts to rush it…then you’ll just be bored.

Remember Act 1 Ends and Act 2 Starts at 0800 GMT (4am EDT) on 4/28/15..

What are your thoughts on Act 1 ending and Act 2 starting?  Any other questions you might have about it?  (remember no spoilers)  Have you earned all the Act 1 prizes?  Which items have you crafted?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. This event is meant to be long and tedious.

did they mean for it to be boring and lame too or is that just a bonus?

  2. I’m nowhere near crafting the market yet despite playing every two hours or so to clear out the elders task and kill plants. I’m both confused and in awe of the people who have theirs! I did manage to catch up on spatrowvels though so I got my plant. 😀 And I agree with previous posters: there are not enough pods dropping to leave them around, and it doesn’t seem right that friends get no notice that I’ve visited. There’s not even the popup when starting the game now.

  3. My thought (and I welcome discussion on this): I am about 24 hours from having enough to craft farmer’s market. However, I think with act 2 beginning in less than 12 hours, I will upgrade the lab as quickly as possible hoping to increase the amount I get from every job. Hopefully that will get me back to crafting in a shorter amount of time.

    • That’s exactly what I was thinking. I am only an hour away from having enough to get the farmers market though. So tempted to just craft it. But I do think immediately upgrading is a better plan. I’m going to try and hold out lol.

    • Eric_Go_Isotopes

I agree. It’s simple economics. Leveling up will unlock jobs for different groups that we aren’t earning with yet I would assume, such as kooks and celebrities, as well as increasing the amount you earn on existing jobs. Even if it only does one of these, economics still applies. Having more earners as well as earning more on jobs obviously increases your earnings greatly. So the Market which has taken about 8 days to save for will probably take 4 once you’re leveled up.

  4. I could craft the Farmers Market, Yet knowing this, I would rather see if I can Level Up Quickly & then be able to use the new stuff I can do to replenish the Fertilizer (because it’s my limiting, lots of corn in my storehouse).

The only reason I might shift and craft the Market is if the new quests don’t provide fertilizer. Then I’ll have to decide.

Looking forward to what you have to share in the morning.

    • It doesn’t look like there’s much in the way of new tasks to get fertiliser, but the tasks that are there already give better rewards once you upgrade. I’ve upgraded my research centre, time will tell whether that was the right thing to do or not

  5. What was the update that hit this evening? wwas it just for the Act 2 changes upcoming or another patch?

  6. I’m still gathering enough to craft the Farmer’s Market before I craft anything else. It’s taking forever… yawn (have gotten bored with it). I hope the new items being added are better. I don’t have much enthusiasm over prizes and craft-able items thus far in this event. I’m getting a little bored with sending everyone to gather fertilizer and corn and seemingly getting nowhere with it as well. Sorry for coming off as a little grumpy, I’m hoping this event improves a little with Act 2.

    • kingofstillwater

if you dont get it in time save the corn for the gass and grub and the fertizer for the monsarno walls

    • I totally feel you on this – it’s very grindy for me & after the last two long events that is not good at all.

  7. I’m REALLY surprised how much the crafting items cost. While we are all generally focused on the Farmers Market (solely based on the quest) let’s not forget there is also the Sani-John Smokehouse and the Cane Field (which unless I miss my guess, isn’t the greatest ‘single’ item to have — meaning I know I’ll want more than 1).

I consider myself to likely have spent more than most players on characters. I don’t have them all (I know there is a strong contingent that DO own ALL the characters, but those are in the minority of players) and I’m a few hours away from having the Farmers Market.

I’ve played pretty obsessively over this event. Never letting mutants max out. Sending out and tapping seeds with players who respond quickly (maximizing return)

…and I’m 10k fertilizer short of Act 1 crafting. …I stress Act 1 because I fully expect new crafting recipes (beyond rewards not earned) to appear during Act 2.

I’m sitting on just shy of 26k spades. How can I have had such an easy time on the prize line, and an impossible time on the crafting? It feels like poor balance on the game designers part…and if I’m not suppose to have crafted stuff by now, its…poor choices on the designers part to show us.

  8. Can’t craft farmers market….. time to PANIC!!!! LOL JK. Thanks for the tips, but seriously. Can we just all panic now?

  9. IMHO a very weak event so far. I’m collecting currency that I cannot use because everything costs way more than I’ll ever have. And when I reach a Spade milestone, what do I get as a prize? More useless currency in miniscule amounts! Goals are completely unattainable, and since I’m not made of money, I’m not wasting donuts. This is so far the next in a recent line of dissapointing events.

    • “…the next in a recent line of dissapointing events”? You found the Superheroes event disappointing? Christmas didn’t work for you? Hmmmm… Just so I can get a better idea of what you’re saying, what was the last event that wasn’t disappointing for you?

      • I agree with M. I’ll get the prizes eventually, but this event is labor intensive and the reward is so little. I didn’t like superheroes or CoC or find any other recent ones that special. The events that have been interesting and FUN were Halloween 2013, Building Squidport, Building Krustyland and Whacking Day.

    • Eric_Go_Isotopes

You have a month. Do you only play once a day? That might work fine during normal gameplay but not during an event if you want to get everything. I play a little about 4 times a day and will have no trouble earning everything with no donuts spent. It sounds like you want it to be too easy. The events are definitely designed to get people tapping.

    • Agree.

    • The goals might seem unattainable now, but I’m sure they won’t be by the end. It’s a long event and I think at the end you will be able to get the stuff you need much easier than you can today.
I think these early stages are just an exercise in patience, but I understand exactly where you’re getting frustrated.
Oh, and by the way, don’t waste donuts! 1) I honestly don’t think you need to and 2) the rewards don’t justify the cost

  10. Farmer’s Market – I’m about 2,500 fertilizer away from obtaining this (I hope there isn’t anything I need to craft in Act 2 right away after midnight PST)

Fertilizer and Corn – keep on collecting as you will need ’em

Spade / Shovel / Trowels – let’s see what EA has to offer as a replacement during Act 2 of this Event

Mutant Seedlings – about the only part of this Event I don’t like (utter waste of time / too hard to tap in my opinion)

Mutant Cornstalks – love tapping them (easy to do)

Once again, thank you for the suggestions & tips & ideas on how to keep this game simple and fun for all Tappers 🙂

    • Definitely agree with the Mutant Seedling part of your comment. they are like running a race and if you don’t tap them in like 3 bounces, they disappear, and reappear somewhere else, only to bounce another 3 times and disappear again! Other than that, I’m satisfied with this event, albeit not as much as I was with Superheroes, maybe its just too soon for this calibre of an event (after superheroes)

  11. I decided to leave Homer, Lisa and Bart task free (before the reset time) assuming one of them may kick things off.

  12. I’m at like 5000 fertilizer ’til I can craft the farmers market. I’d be closer, but I decided to sleep instead of playing a couple of times, haha. I think I’m still gonna craft it as soon as possible in act2. I want it pretty bad. I made a nice spot for it next to the grocery store.

  13. Is it over yet???
I need my life back !!

    Oh yeah,
last night’s episode “Worst episode ever!”

  14. Hi all happy tappers out there. The Farmers Market was driving me crazy so just started it, there is 24 hour build on it so will the switch to Act 2 affect it one way or other…..inquiring minds want to know lol. Also I usually have Mother in Law duties on Wed usually when we get updates, going tomorrow instead DRATS! Have to leave right when Act 2 is hitting eastern time DRATS! Will have to update if we stop long enough for lunch unless storm hits & I stay home.
Thanks for all your help on this site & also thanks to all friends for their visits! Bring on Act 2

  15. Would love to take your advice and craft the farmer’s market now… Do you have about 5,000 bags of fertilizer I can borrow? 😉

  16. I dont have enough to craft farmers market. Think im gonna upgrade first and craft and very last minute.

  17. How on earth do you earn enough Fertiliser to craft the Farmer’s Market? I’m on Level 49 (been holding off starting the Level 50 quests until this event ends) and I’m sending all my characters off on Fertiliser earning quests as often as possible (at least every 4 hours 4 times a day) but I’m still about 5000 short – and that’s without using it for anything other than upgrading the Research Building. What am I doing wrong?

    • Nothing. Everyone’s playing at different paces, depending on how many characters they have. Some have a ton (I have quite a few) and can play often (I try to get in ever 2hrs).

      • I suppose, but I’m only two characters shy of the number any freemium player would have if they were at Level 51. I only have a handful of Premium characters and none of them have a task that earns fertiliser. I’ve been playing as often as possible – a minimum of 4 times a day and usually more depending on the daily tasks and I still only managed to get 2/3 of the fertiliser required for the Farmers Market, while hitting all the targets for Spades and Corn quite easily.

However having spent all my hard earned fertiliser upgrading the Research Building to Level 14, I now notice that the fertiliser payouts have increased for all my characters tasks. Has that come with levelling up or did EA realise that the fertiliser earnings were too low and increase them for part 2?

    • Maudlin Monarch.

Of my 40-ish(?) neighbours, only two have their Farmer’s Market already built up. These two players are very likely heavy doughnut users, though, and always high in the “bragging rights” standings. Either the purchase and more-than-abundant use of seedlings, or being able to buy/rush items via doughnuts may be the reason why.
Either way, I find them valuable to see what a win-able/purchasable item looks like, and how it behaves long before I would get it.

Thanks to these two, I knew that the Hovercrap from a few events ago wasn’t worth losing sleep over.

  18. I really hope to see a nice bump in the seedlings, I’m lucky to get 5 a day and don’t like having to pick and choose who gets them. Right now I’m trying to give back to the nice neighbours who send them to me or the ones who are way down on the leaderboard but there’s not enough of them to be of much benefit to anyone.

  19. I crafted the farmers market & have enough corn for the Sani-John but only 1750 fertilizer. So you think it’s worth it to keep saving to get the sani john done or would you start leveling up monsarno when act 2 hits ? Thanks you guys are really awesome & make this game much easier 😉

  20. So they are still going to have corn and fertilizer in act 2?

  21. Finally! Very ready to move on from the dull tasks and items from Act 1

    • ready to get the next dull tasks 😉 Honestly i don’t expect it will change much until the last act. Obviously other demographic groups will get some earning tasks, some new prizes for the new “currency” and HQ level ups. Wheeyy!

  22. I have crafted the super market!! You are right if you play it multiple times a day and on time.. It’s doable but it’s time consuming and tedious. I pride myself on playing multiple times a day but I have been playing around the clock every 2 hours for the last 6 days. Good thing that when I upgraded I won those two buildings. I’ve already crafted the field of grass so my last is the smoke house which I’m not rushing. Time to switch focusing upgrading again as soon as Act 2 unlocks, hey you never know the smoke house maybe a gift. Ready for Act 2!! Thanks to my kids I wake up daily at 6:15 am to get them ready for school

  23. The Iced Rooster (now HalcyonJays)

On the last trek to get the Mutant Plant: because I made a new account some time into the event and I’m only sitting at 11,000, and it’s my exam period, he’s gonna have to be crafted at some other point? Do you know how much this little guy will cost to craft?

    • From what I can see he’s VERY pricey to craft (more Fertilizer than the Farmer’s Market) but that’s just speculation until Act 2 actually hits.

You won’t need to get him to complete the event, it’s merely a matter of if you want him or not.

  24. I’ve been staying up way past my bedtime to start Cecil’s tasks at midnight. Does that make sense tonight? It says it resets at midnight but with the new act starting at 4 should I wait for act 2 to do Cecil’s tasks.

  25. I’m pretty close to having enough for the farmers market and should be able to later today. Now just out of curiosity, why not hold off on crafting it so I have enough to upgrade monsarno right away and start earning fertilizer and corn from the new unlocked character tasks? Wouldn’t that get me the upgrades and farmers market quicker?

    • Honestly…this is why I say it’s up to you. Personally, my thought process is with the new items hitting and upgrades you’ll end up not crafting the market if you don’t do it now. Considering both the new items and upgrades will require fertilizer. So if you want it, get it and get it now. You’ll earn enough fertilizer to upgrade soon enough.

But again…as the post says…strategy is up to you.

  26. Is there a trick to working your way up the scoreboard with “points” during this event? I earned all the prizes, have done most of the daily tasks, have enough corn and fertilizer for all crafting except for the market (just need a few thousand more fertilizer for that) but rank about 35th on my list of 100 friends and am way behind most of those in the top ten. It seems like I’m missing something in terms of moving up that leaderboard?

  27. Wouldn’t it be better to not craft the Farmers Market so you can use your corn & fertilizer to upgrade Monarno right away? Presumably this would allow you to ramp up production and reach the end goal faster (rather than spending on the Farmers Market and then re-earning corn & fertilizer to upgrade).

Also, I have neighbors (who I know are well into the event) interacting with my building (handshakes & graffiti). Is this a known glitch or something I just don’t understand?

    • If you’re close to the farmer’s market (like within 1,000 or so) get it. You’ll earn enough Fertilizer and corn (you should already have enough corn to upgrade) to upgrade quickly anyway. So if you’re almost there get it…otherwise you might not end up crafting it. That’s my own 2 cents…I crafted it this morning and I’m already at more than enough to level up to the next level when it hits. You don’t have to listen to me on it…that’s why I say strategy is up to everyone individually, but that’s what I would do (and did).

Could be that they just haven’t unlocked neighbor actions. There’s no requirement once you’ve downloaded terwilliger’s to actually play the event. You can not complete the tasks and not upgrade Monsarno to level 3 and still play.

    • Axe, I’m not going to craft it. At least, not yet.
I’ve no idea what’s coming that I might want more and I’ve no idea how much the Monsarno centre can be upgraded, but I reckon a similar theme to Act 1 will continue, i.e. it’s gonna be better to upgrade as much as you can before crafting.
Personally, and this is just an opinion, I’ll save my crafting until the very end – or near to it – that way I’ll see what I can afford and what I prefer. Of course, that might be risky but I’m not that fussed about the Farmers’ Market anyway!

  28. Can’t wait for Phase 2, if for no other reason than to stop paying $300,000 for my one extra doughnut!!! Both times that I reached the extra 3,000 spades, my first bonus gift box was 2 doughnuts, then I bought the box with 1 doughnut in it, before finally getting my 3 doughnuts in the last box. That’s $600,000 for those 6 doughnuts instead of the 4 I won in the first free boxes.
Same thing happened last event too. Of course, this is tongue in cheek… I’ll take all the doughnuts I can get!
Good thing I have like $25 million, so no big deal I guess, just a run of bad luck. I did win $10,000 on Itchy & Scratchy ticket today, so maybe my luck is turning 🙂
Can’t wait to see the changes in the morning!

    • Paying $50,000-$100,00 for one or two doughnuts?
      I’ll take that deal 12 times a day !!
      Best bargain out there.

    • Yeah that happens to me every time too – I always seem to get the 3 donuts after 2 attempts. If you have 25M spare, why not buy & sell bloodmobiles to quickly gain xp to level up and get 3 donuts each level? You should be able to level up at least twice over for 6 donuts. Im always saving money these days just for the bloodmobile express level-ups.

  29. The content update is already active (14.7 MB set)

  30. Personally, I’ve quite enjoyed this event so far. I’ve liked the story, there’s a variety of things to do while playing (Cecil’s Dailies, Friend Visits, tapping veggies, upgrading, crafting, etc.), and there are several neat new items and characters being released, obtainable in several ways.

About the only thing I don’t like is the return to “limited friend value”, where it’s only beneficial (event-wise) to visit 30 of our friends, the other (up to) 70, don’t matter. I really liked how there was still some value to tapping ALL friends during the Supers event, and was hoping that’d be the new standard. Further, unless I get pods (which seem very rare), my friends don’t benefit when I visit them… They can’t even tell I was there. 🙁 And again, during Supers, they’d get Spotlights which left my mark of visitation and gave THEM rewards, too (on all visits, not just when I had a scarce pod to drop off).

    • The “value” is supposed to come in the “sharing”. The Mutant Seedlings.

    • I totally agree with you on this one. I’d like if the events gave you a reason to visit all friends – something more along the lines of Friend Points. Start with a higher yield at the beginning and taper down to just one by the end. It still gets you in people’s towns and them in yours. I’ve also found that the number of seedlings that I am earning is dropping every day. At the beginning of the event I would earn easily 20+ every day just randomly in my town and I’d make sure to drop one in as many neighbor towns as I could — just to let them know that I appreciate their continued friendship (even though I’m maxed on FP, I still visit everyone every couple of days so they see the handshake and know I’m still active. Well, before the event started that is.). The past three days I’ve only gotten 3 seedlings each day. So it’s harder to distribute to my neighbors and let them know that I care about them as a friend. It would be nice for future events to be able to show that you’ve visited, even if there wasn’t a big currency bonus. Some of us *do* care about the neighbors that we’ve cultivated.
