Popping in with a bit of good news for many of you…but bad news for some of you. The Terwilliger Takedown Update has FINALLY hit the files.
IT’S NOT IN THE APP STORE YET. So currently there’s nothing to download. BUT it has hit the server, which means at some point today (usually between 12pm-2pm EDT) we’ll see it hit our App Stores.
This will be a welcome sign for many of you who just want it to be over! However, I know there are some of you who are still trying to earn those extra Bonuts (Bonus Donuts) and crafting materials…and for those of you who are trying to do that you still can!
If you’re looking to extend this event beyond the app store update, you can. Just delay downloading the update. First, make sure your auto updates are turned off for TSTO. Otherwise it may automatically download and throw you out whether you want it to or not. So if you want to extend it turn off the auto update for TSTO.
Then just continue to play as normal…you’ll usually get at least another 24-48hrs out of it before the game forces you to update (you’ll see a popup telling you to download the newest version to continue playing). So if you want to keep playing, do nothing.
For those of you who want Terwilligers to be over…simply keep checking your App stores for the update. Once it hits we’ll have a post up here for it as well.
Once again…there currently is nothing to download in the App Store. This is just a note that the removal is coming and should hit today. So don’t panic if you don’t see it in your App Store right now, because it’s not there.
We’ll be back when it actually hits the stores with any changes that have occurred.

Also, just a note. I’m going to be away this afternoon (probably right around when the update hits). I’ll be in NYC going to a Yankee game with my Dad (you’re never to old to go to a ballgame with your dad!). However, Bunny will be here covering the update if I’m gone by the time it hits. So hope you all get everything you want out of Terwilligers and here’s hoping we get a few days of downtime to redesign our Springfields!
I agree with some of you as well. So close to the homer decoy but wasn’t going to get it by the end of the day….so I crafted a bunch of extra items. Now as I have still been playing, looks like I would have easily gotten it. All well. Ugh.
I contacted EA about the deadline and how I spent all my items on crafting items I did not want and the event is still going on. I managed to get the BOB sign which is what I was collecting for from EA in my inventory after expressing my disappointment how close I was and could have crafted myself if I knew the event was extended. I figured didn’t hurt to contact them and complain and it worked. Glad it is almost over. Still collecting music notes for donut bonus until it is finally GONE.
Tried the same but got fobbed off.
so i can just not download the update from the app store and get to another 3000 music notes for some additional donuts?

One of the things that irked me most about this event was the fact that only one of the Monsarno buildings paid out. Right now I have a little Monsarno campus for the event, but I might just store those buildings if they don’t have a payout. That’s part of the reason why I loved the Superheroes Event so much, you could craft as many Zenith City buildings as you wanted and have another source of cash in your town.

This game has always done this with the end date. It “ends” Tuesday and the update will get pushed through Thursday.
Not always. Not usually. Usually it ends and the update hits that afternoon. From what I can see in the files, it looks like this was intended to hit yesterday. So something probably held it up. Either the app stores, or something in the programming.
Well crap. I really wanted this event to end, but now I’m close to more Bonuts. So I guess I’ll keep playing until I get them, then update.

I’ve really enjoyed this event (esp the element of strategy in choosing what to craft and when) but I’m glad it’s ending.
I’ve been itching to nuke and my Springfield for weeks but decided to wait until the Terwilligers had left the building.
I was really happy about the end of the event and waited for the update while returning to normal jobs. Now after a day and a half of casually squishing bob clones I’ve almost gained enough materials to craft something which I may not be able to caft if the event ends so now I’m not looking forward to the update :/
Random question (and this is not a knock on the work you three do on this blog):
Why are the comments moderated for approval? Wouldn’t it be better, and more like a community, if it were more of an open forum than comments on a blog waiting to be approved? I don’t know how many comments you get that require deletion, but the EA forum is super active with thousands of comments and yet it is totally open. I’ve always wondered that and its somewhat hindered me from commenting.
They’re moderated for a couple of reasons. 1. to ensure all comments follow our guidelines (they’re edited for cursing if needed and disrespect of others) 2. it weeds out the trolls. (we have very few, but every so often they popup) and 3. If there are questions that we need to answer it helps us see them to answer to them. Otherwise if they all go through we may miss important questions people are looking for answers on. For example..this morning from the time I went to bed to the time i woke up (about 11pm-6am) there were over 200 comments pending. If they were all pushed overnight automatically I wouldn’t have been able to go back and answer the questions that people asked.
Oh and while we have a spam filter, every so often spam doesn’t make it through the filter. So moderating the comments prevents those crazy spam messages from going through too
You go to just about any blog, they do the exact same thing.
That makes perfectly good sense. Thanks for the prompt answer. This is still my go-to source for TSTO, so clearly you guys are doing a lot of things right.
Also, the irony of you seeing and answering my question because it was pending approval (and was not lost in the shuffle) was not lost on me 🙂
Although I agree that the time lag can sometimes be a tad frustrating when our dear Addicts dare to actually have a life and not just live to cater to our every whim, I definitely think that moderation has made this forum a MUCH pleasanter place to hang out on than the EA forums are. I’ve gone over there many times and have found it to be a much more negative, unpleasant place to hang out (and all of those annoying animated gifs, etc., really don’t help!). People are much harsher over there with one another, something I know just wouldn’t fly with our mods here.
Also, moderation helps keep this place relatively spoiler-free, which a lot of people here really appreciate. (Oh, and without moderation, each thread would probably be flooded with misplaced “add me!” posts, too.)

I can tell you first hand seeing it on this end, without moderation… this site would be a mess.
Just be patient with us. I have been dealing with a Family Emergency so our turn around time has slowed as it has been mainly Alissa or myself solo on both sites. We will try to do the best we can. 🙂

How do I turn off auto update for tsto on a kindle?
honestly I don’t have a kindle so I don’t know. Any one from the community have any ideas?

Seems to have information on where the setting for automatic app updates would be.
TSTO Updates that go through on (my) Kindle automatically have only ever been for level updates. Event starter and event takedown updates have always been something I’ve needed to initiate manually in the appstore.
For perspective, automatic updates only occur if no changes in permission are being made (so level updates pass through the filter). Manual updates are required if permissions changes are a part of the update. Since events tend to have their own unique alerts (“Your town is overrun with X. Come Clear blah blah blah”), permission changes occur to begin an event (so require manual update), and when the takedown occurs the alerts are removed (so permission changes occur) also requiring a manual update.

It probably depends on your settings. On iOS and android there are options where you can set it to update apps automatically when an update hits the store. And it seems kindle has the same option.
This one ticked me off. If I would have just waited, I’m sure I could have gotten the last thing I wanted crafted. But instead, like a sucker, I thought they’d pull it sooner (AT LEAST within 24 hours of the “end date”) so I crafted other crap instead hoping that the “craft items” task might yield me something. Why have a countdown if you don’t even end it then?!?! argh.Very frustrated this time.
same here, i was 1400 dna away from the welcome bob sign, but it was about an hour till the “end”, so i crafted other things so my resources dont go to waste… and now i have 1200 dna (some was left over after crafting, rest is earned), so had i waited, i would’ve gotten the sign by this evening…
Exact same situation as me (I was going for the Bob Sign too). I’m a bit disappointed, but… Oh well. If they had updated on time, I wouldn’t have gotten it either.
Incidentally, still can’t download the update or auto-update or anything. When I go to the market the only option is “open”, not “update”. I spent too much to hope to get anything now, but I also can’t update so I’m doubly frustrated.
You’ve certainly earned an afternoon at the ballpark! Thanks for everything you’ve posted – I would not have survived this event without TSTO Addicts, that’s for sure.
As for the game itself, being a long-time A’s fan since Billy Ball, I wish you lots of yummy food and an interesting game. *whistling*

I don’t understand the negativity towards this event either…I wouldn’t say it is my favorite to date, but I still don’t get it…
I’m glad that it’s ending. As much as I like Sideshow Bob and the rest of the Terwilliger family in my town, those tasks for resources are getting incredibly repetitive. I was considering foregoing the app store update until I got the Homer decoy but I think I’m going to let it go, seeing as it would take me about a week to get the DNA I need. Once the update hits I’m focusing on finally getting the Fortress of Choclitude.

I thought we’d have another full day and about 45 minutes. That special sale (700 DNA for 25 donuts) is in my store for another 1 day 45 min. I just assumed that was the FINAL ending of this event. I’m not worried either way, I’m pretty satisfied with what I’ve achieved during this event.
Nope that DNA sale triggers when you upgrade Monsarno to a certain Level (i forget which one now). Just auto programmed to say 3 days.

I was playing safe and crafted the Monsarno Library when the event almost came to an end… I regret it so much now that I got some more time 🙁 I could have left the materials and craft somehing new!!

I was a good luck charm for George Brett as a baby.
My parents had a friend who worked the ticket office so when they wanted to go they always got tickets front row behind home plate. The first time he came to bat I cried out, he turned and winked at me, then hit a homer. So the rest of the times he came to bat he would wink at me before stepping up to the plate.
Each time we went he would look back his first time at bat and if we were there he would always wink before stepping up to the plate.

I’ve been seeing a lot of negative feedback in this event. To be honest I don’t get it. I truly enjoyed this event and would even go as far as to say it is my favorite to date. It took a little work to get everything but for me that just makes all the prizes and crafting items that much more satisfying when you get them. It wouldn’t be any fun of EA just gave them to us, it is a game after all. I got everything and multiples of the crafting items without to much trouble. We got A LOT of cool items during this event!!

I enjoyed it too! The only thing that I would say is that it really was pretty long. Otherwise, it was a very fun event.
Yay, I’ve only logged in the past two days to tap clones for seed pods to pass on to any of my neighbors who were just a bit short of the 16050 mark.
I’m on a droid, so would I need to change a setting in the game or where? Google play store?
I spent all my stuff the other day but still been collecting resources. I’m back at half way for the Bob sign, think I could get it before a forced update? Probably a couple more days of grinding which is fine, just not sure with an update soon if I’m waisting time.
Play store, Settings, then under general it’ll say Auto-update apps. Tap on that and you’ll get a list that says do not auto-update apps, auto-update at any time. Auto-update over Wi-Fi only. Change it to do not auto-update apps.
Thank you, did not know about that setting in Android. Might be good to note, if already logged into Google Play, the setting did not appear on screen for me, I had to swipe the menu from the left.
I have a Galaxy S6 so I dunno if it’s just my version of Android, but that’s how it looked for me. But still good to know! 🙂
