Tapped Out Level Walkthroughs: Level 51, Dr. Monroe’s Back from the Dead

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Level 51 hit our Tapping Devices way back before the Terwilliger Event even stared, and with it arrived one two characters back from the dead…in particular Dr. Marvin Monroe.

While we’ve had the Turbo Tappin’ walkthrough up since the update first hit (you can view it here) I know many of you still love going back and reading old walkthroughs.  They’re great if you missed any of the dialogue while playing the level, or if you just want to know what to expect when you reach Level 51.  So for those that may have missed it (or for those of you that want to live it again)…I bring you all the dead raising fun of Level 51!

Note: IF you purchase and place the Walk in Therapy stand…that questline will popup for you as soon as Dr. Monroe is free.  So don’t be worried if it stops progress on The Ungrateful Dead questline.  Once you’ve sent him to Psychoanalyze himself (20hrs) the Ungrateful Dead questline will continue.

The Ungrateful Dead Pt. 1
Lisa starts

Lisa: Springfield has really grown.  It has all the necessary services of a modern American town.
Homer:
But that still leaves the unnecessary ones.
Lisa:
What are you thinking? Yoga studio?
Homer:
Even worse.
Build the Monroe Family Therapy Center- $1,200,000. 24hrs

The Ungrateful Dead Pt. 2
Dr. Monroe starts

Dr. Monroe: After years trapped in the abyss of limbo, I’m back among the living! What a profound and traumatic experience!
Homer:
Pfft, everyone in this town has gone through that. Well, except me.
Dr. Monroe:
But it’s a voyage to the beyond and back! A little death, if you will.
Homer:
Don’t mind if I do!
Dr. Monroe:
This sort of thing should take years of therapy to process!
Make Marvin Monroe Tell People How They Should Feel– 4hrs, $175, 45xp

The Ungrateful Dead Pt. 3
Dr. Monroe starts

Dr. Monroe: This entire town has been through the trauma of death and rebirth.
Homer:
Ugh. Are you still going on about this?! Most people just make a joke about it and move on.  Usually with some scheme to make money… or some story involving a conspiracy theory.
Dr. Monroe:
No, Homer! This town needs therapy… and I’m the only previously-licensed therapist here.
Homer:
Forget it. I’m not paying some guy to listen to my problems…Except in the form of buying a lot of beer at his bar.
Dr. Monroe:
What if the session was free?
Homer:
How’s next Tuesday at 1:00?
Make Marvin Monroe Offer a Therapy Deal– 8hrs, Earns $275, 70xp

The Ungrateful Dead Pt. 4
Dr. Monroe starts

Dr. Monroe: Welcome, Homer. Are you ready for your session?
Homer:
I’ve got my top three questions ready to go.
Dr. Monroe:
You have questions?
Homer:
Yup. Number one…what are the winning lottery numbers for this weekend?
Dr. Monroe:
What?
Homer:
Okay, tell me who wins at the track this weekend.
Dr. Monroe:
Homer, I’m not a psychic, I’m a psychiatrist!
Homer:
Top grossing Summer movies?
Dr. Monroe:
*sigh* Just… tell me about your childhood.
Make Marvin Monroe Psychoanalyze Homer– 12hrs, Earns $840, 200xp (requires Homer)
At this point the Lowering the Bar questline will start up if you have Kearney, we’ll cover it after The Ungreatful Dead questline
Homer: …and then it turned out Mom wasn’t dead and Dad had been lying to me–
Dr. Monroe:
That’s tough stuff, Homer. Tough stuff.
Homer:
Is that all you have to say?
Dr. Monroe:
Uhm…
Homer:
I’m spilling my guts out to you, man! Say something!
Dr. Monroe:
Uhm… That’s all the time we have?

The Ungrateful Dead Pt. 5
Milhouse starts

Milhouse: I’ve got big problems, Doc.
Dr. Monroe:
You’ve come to the right place!
Milhouse:
I have a constant feeling of dread, like my entire future is at risk.
Dr. Monroe:
What is your biggest concern?
Milhouse:
I don’t like where the Radioactive Man franchise movie is going. It’s making me start to doubt his origin story.  Who’s the villain? Who am I rooting for?!
Dr. Monroe: Milhouse, these aren’t real problems.
Milhouse:
It’s too much for me to handle sometimes!
Make Marvin Monroe Psychoanalyze Milhouse– 4hrs, Earns $350, 90xp

The Ungrateful Dead Pt. 6
Dr. Monroe starts

Dr. Monroe: Mister Nahasapeemapetilon, what would you like to talk about today?  The role of death in life? The meaning of existence?
Apu:
Honestly, I just came in for an hour of peace away from my eight soul-crushing little miracles.
Dr. Monroe:
I see. So tell me what’s going on with your family.
Apu:
Can we just sit in silence instead?
Dr. Monroe:
Umm…
Apu:
Shhhh!
Make Marvin Monroe Sit in Silence– 24hrs, Earns $1200, 300xp (Requires Apu)

The Ungrateful Dead Pt. 7
Dr. Monroe starts

Dr. Monroe: What purpose do I have as a therapist if no one will talk about real problems?  Wait a minute — I’m talking about real problems!  Tell me Marvin, how long have you felt this way?
Make Marvin Monroe Psychoanalyze his Own Reflection– 12hrs, Earns $420, 100xp

This questline will start up after Part 4 of The Ungrateful Dead questline, IF you have Kearney

Lowering the Bar Pt. 1
Dr. Monroe starts

Dr. Monroe: I thought that making the first session free would get people hooked, but no one is scheduling follow-up appointments.  Apparently therapy is more like LSD than crack.  If only there were another way for an overeducated man to make money.
Frink:
What about an NSF research grant? It’s how I make ends meet.
Dr. Monroe:
That would be a great idea, but psychology is not a real science.
Frink:
Neither is what I do, with the whatzitmatrons and combulators and robots built to love that always leave me for other robots.
Dr Monroe:
By God, you’re right! If biologists can call themselves scientists, then so can I!
Make Marvin Monroe Setup a Research Study– 8hrs, Earns $275, 70xp

Lowering the Bar Pt. 2
Bart starts

Bart: Hey, Doctor Monroe is looking for kids to take some kind of crazy test for his clinic.
Kearney:
Forget it, I got all the tests I need to ignore in school already.
Milhouse:
He’s paying cash for anyone who participates.
Kearney:
My mom always said I would end up as a science experiment!
Make Kids Take Monroe’s Test– x4. Send 4 Springfield Kids to take the test.  It takes 4hrs and earns $175, 45xp Freemium and $260, 70xp Premium
Make Kearney Take Monroe’s Test– 4hrs, Earns $260, 70xp
Dr. Monroe: Hmm, the results of these psychological tests are all pretty average.  Except for this one from a Mr. Kearney.  His scores place him at a high school level!

Lowering the Bar Pt. 3
Kearney starts

Kearney: All right nerd, I did your test. Now where’s my money?
Dr. Monroe:
This study is going to get me published and rock the psychiatric world!  You’re the most advanced ten-year-old I’ve ever worked with!
Kearney:
That’s because I’m in my twenties. Or forties. Oh, who knows — sometimes I have grandkids.
Dr. Monroe:
So you’re an adult?  Then you’re not above average at all. Quite a bit below, in fact.
Kearney:
Tell me something I don’t know and haven’t heard before many many times.
Make Marvin Throw Out His Research– 8hrs, Earns $275, 70xp

And finally, if you purchase the Walk-in Therapy Stand a short (1 part) questline with Dr. Monroe will start up (and yes, he’ll sit and use the Therapy Stand)

Physician, Heal Thyself
Dr. Monroe starts

Dr. Monroe: So many patients… I’ve never been this stressed.  I should really speak to a therapist.  I’m lucky enough to have access to the best — and only — therapist in Springfield!
Make Marvin Psychoanalyze Dr. Marvin– 20hrs, Earns $550, 135xp
Dr. Monroe: What a great session. I feel so much better now.  I’ll just tally up the bill and… Six hundred dollars?! That’s insane!  You psychiatrists are crooks! I should report you to the authorities, Dr. Monroe!  Go ahead. Of course, then you’d have to admit you saw a psychiatrist.  Ooh, can’t do that. Here, take your blood money!  Yay! I’m rich!

And with that Level 51 is complete!

It’s a fun little update to keep you busy taping.  AND the dialogue is cute…in a TSTO sort of way.  If you run it from start to finish, with out using donuts, it will take you 3 days and 16hrs to complete the Ungrateful Dead questline.  If you have Kearney the Lowering the Bar questline will take you an additional 20hrs to complete.

My best advice?  DON’T RUSH IT!  Take your time with this questline and enjoy it.  And remember…save those donuts for content.  Don’t spend them on rushing.  🙂

What do YOU think of Level 51?  Were you happy with the character choice?  How about Dr. Monroe’s Dialogue?  Where have you placed the Family Therapy Center in your Springfield?  Have you purchased the Walk-In Therapy Stand too?Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Curious if anyone has an issue with Dr. Monroe’s 24 hour task. In one of my towns he has a 24 hour task to prove he’s real. In a different game, my A town, his longest task is only 20 hours to self-analyze.. Is this something I should talk to EA about ?

  2. lol …I was thinking the exact same thing! really itchy fingers waiting for an event …was hoping it would drop today.

Am hoping for a follow up to superheros with more bad guys and buildings to compliment the statues we’ve already got as they are so hard to place anywhere at the mo!

  3. Unrelated question: Are updates or events usually dropped on Tuesdays or Wednesdays? Because I know people said they wanted some time off since the Terwilliger Event but…. I’m ready now.

My guess EA has something big planned – I’ve been doubting a Futurama Universe, or how they can execute a working Monorail in the game but now with it being what, two weeks now? I think anything is possable. Though I did wake up from a dream of that Baby Event I’ve been harping on…

When is the next update/event going to hit? 😮

  4. Any idea whats next for the game? New event, new level, new tie in?
