Unemployment Job Manager is Here! (ie A Send All Characters on a Task Button!)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

We’ll you’ve been asking and asking and asking for it…and it’s FINALLY here!  A send all characters on a task button!

As many of us suspected, the task update yesterday was preparation for this new feature in the game.  And now you can finally send ALL your characters on a task at once!

Kirk will kick things off for you and the Office of Unemployment is the hub for everything…

More details below the fold…

As mentioned above Kirk will get this started…

Between Jobs Pt. 1
Kirk starts

Unemployment Worker: ID and social security number please.
Kirk: I’ve actually got both, now that the criminal who stole my identity gave them back.
Unemployment Worker: Oh! Mr. Van Houten.  You can just skip the line thanks to your frequent visitor status.
Kirk: That’s ok.  When you’ve got nothing but time on your hands, waiting in line is like a vacation with a purpose.
Unemployment Worker: That’s the saddest thing I’ve ever heard and I work at the unemployment office.  And moonlight at the suicide hotline.
Kirk: You do?  Tell Gary I said hello!  And I’ll be speaking with him soon!
Unemployment Worker: So do you want a job?  I’ve got chicken sexer, roadkill cleaner, virtual gold farmer…
Kirk: Right now I was kind of just hoping for a hug.
Gil: If he isn’t taking it, I’ll take that virtual gold farmer job.  Maybe then ol’ Gil’s virtual wife will stay faithful.
Squeaky Voiced Teen: I’ll take the roadkill cleaning job.  After working at Krusty Burger, it’ll be nice to see where our meat comes from.
Kirk: Wow, I didn’t realize that I wasn’t the only unemployed loser out there.  Why is all of Springfield looking for a job?
Homer: Some people are just too lazy to tap a few buttons.  Not me — I trained a monkey to push buttons for me!  He’s my boss now.

Now to do this you head over to the Office of Unemployment Building in your Springfield and tap on it.  Just like Town Hall you’ll see characters doing tasks, if they’re there, the payout time for the building, and an option with a green button:

2015-09-24 13.40.36

When you click “Go” it will bring up all the options at the Unemployment Office:

Job manager 1

Now this is from my personal game.  As you can see I already have most of my characters on 4hr tasks for today (the rest are doing stuff for SH).  So here’s a look at how it will look if you don’t have characters on tasks (this is from one of my lower level games, so i don’t have quite as many characters):

jobmanger2

As you can see it will COST money to use this feature.  The cost (in green) will vary based on how many characters you have (just like the payout and XP).  The more characters you have the higher the cost, but the bigger the payout.  The less characters the lower the cost etc.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: IF a character has a task in yellow (ie from a questline you’re playing out) they will NOT get sent out on the jobs via the Job Manager.  So if you have a character that has to do a quest for a task in the task book/questline they won’t be included in the characters that get sent out.

BUG ALERT: This does not send ALL characters.  I just tested it again and it left 46 characters off of the 1hr task auto send.  Those characters are (for me anyway):
Apu, Barney, Bart, Brockman, Bumblebee Man, Cletus, CBG, Database, Dolph, Dr. H, Dr. Nick, Duffman, Eddie, Fallout Boy, Fat Tony, Gino, Grampa, Greta, Helen, Hugo, Janey, Jessica, Jimbo, Kang, Kearney, Kirk, Lampwick, Lisa, Lou, Luigi, Marge, Matt, Michael, Milhouse, Mr. Burns, Mrs. K, Nelson, Otto, Rod, Shauna, Sherri & Terri, Sideshow Mel, Snake, Todd, Uter & Wiggum.

Not sure if this is how it’s supposed to work, or if there’s a reason those characters were left off….we’ll have to so some investigatng.

When the jobs are complete you will still have to go around and clear each Thumbs Up, just like before.

Between Jobs Pt. 2
Kirk starts

Kirk: I’m used to paying for a lot of things: hair plugs, girdles for men, my child’s love. But did I just pay to go on a job?
Unemployment Worker: Oh you actually noticed….Sending someone on a job means a lot of paperwork, which we pay people to do, but then there’s paperwork for hiring them, and you see how this goes. So we deduct a portion of your income to pay for our administrative fees.  It doesn’t cost you anything…except for money.
Send All Characters on a 4hr Job

And there you have it my friends….the details behind the new Job Manager!

What are your thoughts on the new feature?  Are you have to have a “send all” button?  Wish we had a “collect all” button to clear those tasks quicker?  Thoughts on having to pay for the jobs?  Sound off in the comments below you know we love hearing from you!

  1. After all time lows in customer satisfaction EA has finally decided to stop biting the hands that feed!!! If they add dirt paths and a “collect all” button, and stop overpricing premium items, I will officially be the happiest Tapped Out Tapper… 😋

    • Kim (kimberlyah794)

Yah. I’ve certainly felt the premium items have been overpriced lately. I’ve noticed quite often, Alissa mentions “X item is overpriced for what it does” in her SIBs. I don’t mind spending money to support the game, but I can’t spend that much all the time. I sometimes feel like they’re trying to milk me dry.

  2. So I had Hugo free. He has a 1h to 24 h task. But somehow when going to the job manager I couldn’t set his 24h task from there.

Also I later I had about 11 characters that just finished SH tasks. I send them on the 4h task and only 4 got send while they all have 4h tasks.

  3. Well, it doesn’t seem to be working like it’s supposed to yet. I did send all my characters on 8-hr jobs (apart from the ones that were doing SH or Rail Yard stuff) but still had a bunch of characters roaming around with nothing to do (and yes, they all had 8-hr jobs available). Most of them premium, but also some freemium (e.g. Dolph and Janey).
For a moment I thought it was all characters not “attached” to any specific building, but if that was the case, then Janey obviously shouldn’t be there. Anyway, I just hope they get it fixed soon.

  4. This is awesome but wish it would complete jobs and clear each Thumbs Up when it is complete.

  5. Awesomest. Button. Ever.

  6. What has happened at EA? Monorail, free donuts for grinding, lots of new freemium stuff, new jobs, and now SEND ALL. Ahhhhhhhh! Whàt’s next? Dare I hope for Maggie?

    • She’s inevitable. Maggie will be freemium along with several other freemium babies and a premium Gerald. I’m counting on it.

    • Well, they *did* give Marge a new 8 hour task that doesn’t involve Maggie so… the hope, it is there.

    • What’s next, you say? I hope it’s the unreleased IRS update, which lets you collect from multiple buildings & characters in a radius around where you tap.

      • talking about it is ok…but linking to unconfirmed content I can’t let happen. Especially because it’ll mean we’ll get bombarded with “WHEN is it coming?!” and it’s not even for sure confirmed (loads of stuff in the files that hasn’t hit the game).

  7. Total no brainer and a good $$ trade to use. Makes it possible to do more cycles of shorter tasks during the day. Our little group had kept those characters that we needed for tasks generally free and sent everyone else on 24 hour tasks. Now we can play with greater frequency, due to the shorter duration. Also applaud adding missing “time length” tasks in for all the characters another nice change.

  8. Does anyone know if you still have to tap the thumbs up once the job is done or is there an option to dismiss all from the office? I’m so glad they added this!

  9. I’m not sure I want to bother with it. The majority of my characters, when “Sent all” on the one hour job, did nothing, simply sat around. I had to tap them all individually to get them to go anywhere. Mostly people that have Springfield Heights and Monorail Jobs, though a few of them went too. Hopefully I wasn’t charged full-price, but 760 isn’t too much to pay. 🙂

  10. This is going to be such a bonus! 🙂
I can usually log on several times a day but I get too lazy to send all of my characters on shorter tasks as I seem to have over 100 of them now. A lot of the characters that never start off new updates I would just send on 24hr tasks but this way I can make them earn more money faster and spend more time designing.
The updates over the last few months have really managed to get me hooked on this game again and I’m just hoping they keep on this roll for Halloween too!

  11. This will save so much time…and the constant bickering from my partner to “hurry up with that stupid game”.

    • Ah yes, “hurry up with that stupid game!”…. I get that one from my wife in English and Spanish. But this new feature, plus all the added jobs for characters, almost- ALMOST- makes me willing to accept the glitches. Now, if we can just get Maggie as a character and a Burns Casino storyline…..

  12. Oh Happy Day!

Now I can figure out which stored charaters are NPCs and which ones have jobs!

  13. I know you are still playing through it, but I noticed that some characters I still have to manually do. Kirk, fat Tony, and a few others.

    • Hmm they all went for me.

      • As somebody else on this page pointed out, if the character has an active quest, they won’t get sent. Mind you, if a character has to accompany them on that quest (i.e., “Make Milhouse sue Krusty for Discrimination”, where Krusty will accompany Milhouse to court) then the character that is “In Charge” won’t be sent, because they have the quest, while Krusty won’t be sent because he technically doesn’t have the quest. Hope that makes sense.

    • Same thing here. I had to manually send a few of my characters.

    • I also had to send a few manually – the one that sticks out is Lisa, who has no questlines available that I’m aware of.

    • Me too….Kang, Blue Haired Lawyer and about 6 more that I can’t remember

    • Same for me. Kerney, Herb, Kirk, Fat Tony and both cops, among a few others, aren’t getting sent out on jobs. It’s weird. Likewise, as that picture above shows, you can’t send every character on every job tier. If everyone has now been given a 24 hour task, why does the Job Manager only show that 79 characters can go on a 24 hour task, but 109 can go on a 1 hour task? This is an odd little glitch, but I’m not complaining too much. This arrived at the exact perfect time, as I’d started just ignoring my Springfielders who weren’t gathering Monorail or Springfield Heights pieces. This will definitely keep everybody in rotation now.

  14. This is the best thing ever.

  15. YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  16. Oh happy day!

  17. On the one hand, yay!
On the other hand, I guess it was unrealistic to think they wouldn’t cut the price.

Oh well, I’ll still probably use it to save time.

  18. OMG HALLELUJAH

  19. If a character has a ‘yellow’ quest task, they don’t get sent. I had the 2 hour take over town hall available to most of my characters, so they didn’t get the 1 hour task. I guess that makes sense since that would mean they technically have a job to do, so not ‘unemployed’.

    • That makes sense. But if a character has to “go with” another character, they can be sent. I know because I have the “Make Milhouse sue Krusty for Discrimination” quest, and while Milhouse wasn’t sent, Krusty was. Food for thought.

  20. This is awesome! So happy to finally have this button. Just have to be careful I don’t send characters on tasks that I don’t want. When sending all on 1 hour tasks it sent Arnie Pye on “do a sky harness interview” and I hate the helicopter flying through the screen lol. But otherwise, absolutely love this update!!

  21. this is awesome!

but since earlier today, i’ve been experiencing another glitch/maybe a change? my prompts aren’t showing up in the upper left corner with the characters, or over the characters. instead the exclamation mark is only showing up on the respective building.

    • If the character is on a task the prompt won’t show up, just their icon will. If they’re not on a task the ! will show up. This is annoying but better than before where if a character was on a task you wouldn’t know something was prompting you.

      • Interestingly, I didn’t get any real Kirk notification in the upper left corner. The only difference was that he was on top of the pile (his icon was showing) but there was no ! with him. I wouldn’t have known about this new feature/task if I hadn’t gotten the message here. After the last update (the Monorail take down) I find that the “notification” in the upper corner is not as prominent as it was, which is too bad, but not horrible. As always thanks for the heads up.

    • Kim (kimberlyah794)

I’ve had that, too. Also, if the character is in a building, and is done with a task, but has a “!” prompt, it doesn’t show the thumbs-up on the building at all, just the “!” prompt. But once you tap the “!” the thumbs-up reappears so you can collect the money and free them from the task.

  22. And Kang

  23. Here’s my list of adults that weren’t automatically sent on 1-hr tasks when I tried that: Marge, Eddie, Otto, Mrs. Krabappel, Grampa, Comic Book Guy, Snake, Barney, Lou, Bumblebee Man, Dr. Nick, Matt Groening, Apu, Fat Tony, Kirk, Cletus, Wiggum, Willie, Flanders, Krusty, and Mr. Burns.

  24. WOO HOO!!!! That is more awesome than the Crazy Cat Lady throwing a cat over the roof of the Simpson house!!

  25. Wow wow wow wow wow (peed akttle) Wow wow wow. Obligatory Woo Hoo!

  26. Finally! 🎉🎉

  27. Looks nice, but it costs you $$$ to use Send All, so you have to balance that with the increased convenience……

    • Kim (kimberlyah794)

That’s just like anything else in life, though. I mean, a loaf of bread probably costs less than $0.15 in ingredients, but I pay more for the convenience of having someone else to the work (and so I don’t have to heat up my kitchen in the summertime).

  28. Woohoo!
Can you tell I’ve been wanting this feature?

  29. But for this we have to pay
