Unemployment Job Manager is Here! (ie A Send All Characters on a Task Button!)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

We’ll you’ve been asking and asking and asking for it…and it’s FINALLY here!  A send all characters on a task button!

As many of us suspected, the task update yesterday was preparation for this new feature in the game.  And now you can finally send ALL your characters on a task at once!

Kirk will kick things off for you and the Office of Unemployment is the hub for everything…

More details below the fold…

officeofunemployment_menu

As mentioned above Kirk will get this started…

Between Jobs Pt. 1
Kirk starts

Unemployment Worker: ID and social security number please.
Kirk: I’ve actually got both, now that the criminal who stole my identity gave them back.
Unemployment Worker: Oh! Mr. Van Houten.  You can just skip the line thanks to your frequent visitor status.
Kirk: That’s ok.  When you’ve got nothing but time on your hands, waiting in line is like a vacation with a purpose.
Unemployment Worker: That’s the saddest thing I’ve ever heard and I work at the unemployment office.  And moonlight at the suicide hotline.
Kirk: You do?  Tell Gary I said hello!  And I’ll be speaking with him soon!
Unemployment Worker: So do you want a job?  I’ve got chicken sexer, roadkill cleaner, virtual gold farmer…
Kirk: Right now I was kind of just hoping for a hug.
Gil: If he isn’t taking it, I’ll take that virtual gold farmer job.  Maybe then ol’ Gil’s virtual wife will stay faithful.
Squeaky Voiced Teen: I’ll take the roadkill cleaning job.  After working at Krusty Burger, it’ll be nice to see where our meat comes from.
Kirk: Wow, I didn’t realize that I wasn’t the only unemployed loser out there.  Why is all of Springfield looking for a job?
Homer: Some people are just too lazy to tap a few buttons.  Not me — I trained a monkey to push buttons for me!  He’s my boss now.

Now to do this you head over to the Office of Unemployment Building in your Springfield and tap on it.  Just like Town Hall you’ll see characters doing tasks, if they’re there, the payout time for the building, and an option with a green button:

2015-09-24 13.40.36

When you click “Go” it will bring up all the options at the Unemployment Office:

Job manager 1

Now this is from my personal game.  As you can see I already have most of my characters on 4hr tasks for today (the rest are doing stuff for SH).  So here’s a look at how it will look if you don’t have characters on tasks (this is from one of my lower level games, so i don’t have quite as many characters):

jobmanger2

As you can see it will COST money to use this feature.  The cost (in green) will vary based on how many characters you have (just like the payout and XP).  The more characters you have the higher the cost, but the bigger the payout.  The less characters the lower the cost etc.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: IF a character has a task in yellow (ie from a questline you’re playing out) they will NOT get sent out on the jobs via the Job Manager.  So if you have a character that has to do a quest for a task in the task book/questline they won’t be included in the characters that get sent out.

BUG ALERT: This does not send ALL characters.  I just tested it again and it left 46 characters off of the 1hr task auto send.  Those characters are (for me anyway):
Apu, Barney, Bart, Brockman, Bumblebee Man, Cletus, CBG, Database, Dolph, Dr. H, Dr. Nick, Duffman, Eddie, Fallout Boy, Fat Tony, Gino, Grampa, Greta, Helen, Hugo, Janey, Jessica, Jimbo, Kang, Kearney, Kirk, Lampwick, Lisa, Lou, Luigi, Marge, Matt, Michael, Milhouse, Mr. Burns, Mrs. K, Nelson, Otto, Rod, Shauna, Sherri & Terri, Sideshow Mel, Snake, Todd, Uter & Wiggum.

Not sure if this is how it’s supposed to work, or if there’s a reason those characters were left off….we’ll have to so some investigatng.

When the jobs are complete you will still have to go around and clear each Thumbs Up, just like before.

Between Jobs Pt. 2
Kirk starts

Kirk: I’m used to paying for a lot of things: hair plugs, girdles for men, my child’s love. But did I just pay to go on a job?
Unemployment Worker: Oh you actually noticed….Sending someone on a job means a lot of paperwork, which we pay people to do, but then there’s paperwork for hiring them, and you see how this goes. So we deduct a portion of your income to pay for our administrative fees.  It doesn’t cost you anything…except for money.
Send All Characters on a 4hr Job

And there you have it my friends….the details behind the new Job Manager!

What are your thoughts on the new feature?  Are you have to have a “send all” button?  Wish we had a “collect all” button to clear those tasks quicker?  Thoughts on having to pay for the jobs?  Sound off in the comments below you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I absolutely LOVE this button. I’ve been wanting this and a button to release all jobs/building incomes for a long time. It takes so long to put everyone on a job that the game just becomes tedious and doesn’t feel like a game. So I wasn’t putting my characters on jobs unless they had a task on my task bar. Which means I haven’t been getting the amount of money I could get so I can buy buildings faster. Now I can concentrate on buying buildings and working on my town. I love this!!

  2. I’ve played a lot of games on my IPad but have never given up on this one because the game developers do a wonderful job with feedback. Once again they are up to the task. Thanks again!

  3. I’m very thrilled to have this new feature but I got my fingers crossed that that floating file over the building isn’t staying. I think SH has me a little frazzled with all the “upgrade me” symbols floating about on the buildings I don’t wish to upgrade.

    • I agree completely! That’s why I stored the moon bounce. I hate my SH buildings always looking incomplete because of that. I think EA has forgotten most TSTO players are a little bit OCD. We’re unhappy if we can’t clear everything with our taps. It’s a legitimate issue.

      • Did you store your race track, too? That was the first building to annoy me with the ever-present icon (but I left it in my game, because it adds visual interest and short-time tasks for several characters).

      • There are so many new things going on in the game today that I’m hoping this will be removed later.
Wouldn’t be awesome if you could change the SH building facades once they’ve been fully upgraded, that would take care of those darn floaty “upgrade me”. EA did that with the pool so I’m praying at some point the SH buildings are next.

    • Me too. I don’t like the higher levels of the office garage or delux condos but those upgrade symbols are so annoying! I would love if there were a way to turn them off it really (imo) takes away from the look of SH

      • barleecreations (canid88)

I agree, I does take away from the look. Each level has a interesting design that I want to keep one of each but not be annoyed with the symbols.

  4. I just ran a few numbers. Looks like the cost of using the feature is approx. 21% of the total revenue from sending characters on reg tasks.
For those of us that have a lot of characters, and more in-game cash than we know what to do with, it’s a great feature.

I’m thinking that the best thing to do is go through all the characters, send the ones with special/premium/costume tasks that pay out more, send them individually. Once they are all done, go to the UE office and mass send the rest.

Have to play with this a bit, but so far, I like it.
Wonder if the drone and IRS building I’ve read a few places will be a “tap all buildings” feature. That would be amazing because it would make it simpler to hit all the same revenue cycle buildings at the same time. I always seem to mix a few on my rounds…

    Thanks for the post Alissa!

  5. Worked perfectly for me?!? I LOVE the convenience. It was taking so long to send all my characters that I had stopped doing so–most hung out in 24hr tasks and those with crafting jobs would get my attention!! I am sure with a little time missing characters will be taken care of in game updates.

  6. How does it work with characters with multiple skins how does it choose what task does it pick the skin they are currently wearing or the normal skin

  7. I have no idea what happened to my game but I’d like to tell it here. Hope my English is good enough so everyone reading this can understand.

Since tap ball event, when you had to tap on fans to earn the event currency, I started a different method of sending characters on tasks and even after that event ended, I kept doing that method: instead of sending every character on the same length task, I’d just send them on the longest indoor task, so it was easier for me to look for fans to tap. That means that when this new unemployment job manager thing hit today, the characters that I had sent on 24-hour jobs yesterday morning were done, and I sent all of them on 4-hour tasks. I didn’t take notice if there were any characters free after that, because my upper left icon was showing me the statues from SH, and I didn’t wanna collect them because I didn’t have enough pills to make more statues, so I just left the game. That was about 10:30 AM my time (1:30 PM GMT). Then I logged in my game like 15 minutes ago; all the characters that I had sent on 12-hour jobs last night were done, so I decided to send them all on 1-hour tasks, because the questline asked me to do so. The moment I sent them on the 1-hour tasks, the message saying that I had completed pt. 1 from this questline popped up; so did the dialogue between Kirk and the unemployment worker, and I was prompted to do pt. 2. At this moment, I think I was affected by the glitch that doesn’t send all of them, because that big finger appeared pointing to the icon on my task bar to send all characters on 4-hour jobs, then I just did it. The moment I did, the message saying that I had completed pt. 2 of the questline popped up, and now I have already completed the questline, even though NO ONE has finished any tasks. Oh, and this time I checked, all my characters had been sent on tasks. No idea who was sent on what length tasks, though.

    • Sooooo many typos 🙁 sorry. Of course I can only see them after I submitted the post…

      • Funny that you provided a disclaimer, because this post is entirely in perfect English. Correct semicolon usage and all. What is your native language?

      • I had the same issue. but my game has been buggy like this since SH. I started noticing i was getting awarded for upgrade milestones before they were done. But the problem is that the issue isn’t repeatable so there is no way to bring it to EA’s attention…

      • @obscuravc879: Really? So maybe it’s worse than I thought, because I see typos where actually there are not? Lol. But I’m sure you’re being nice… There must be little mistakes here and there, or not necessarily mistakes, but words that are not really “suitable” in the context I was referring to.

I’m a Japanese Brazilian (is that correct?) by the way. Portuguese is my native language. 😉

    • I do a similar thing during events, except I send them on their shortest indoor task and then ignore the thumbs unless I need then for a specific task.

I think I’ll start the next even by sending then all on one hour, then an hour later I’ll tap those on the streets and send them all on 4 hour, then tap any that still end up on the streets, then send them all on 8 hour (or maybe manually check for two hour tasks)

Great English by the way, better than many here in the US.

    • Just saying, your English is better than a lot of native speakers…

  8. Will there be an updated “Should I Buy…” for the Pet Shop, now that so many more characters have tasks there? I’ve never really paid any attention to it, but now I’m beginning to think that spending 90 of my 130 Freemium-earned donuts might be worth it in the long-run.

Or, should I wait until after Halloween / Christmas??? I just can’t decide!!!

    • Probably not. It’s still the same in my mind honestly. Jub-jub’s new tasks don’t pay premium. So you’re spending donuts for a character that earns regular income…

  9. I noticed that all the characters that were not sent all had jobs less than one hour. Maybe this is to keep SH and Monorail characters free and accidentally includes a few others.

  10. The Problem Child

I noticed that Homer Dog who is supposed to be a NPC is listed in the Town Hall. Weird.

  11. It’s kind of pain that they put a cost on it, but I guess it’s not that much if you don’t have the time to spend sending them individually. I hope they fix it so it actually sends all the characters on the appropriate task. Another thing to note is that you need to put the character in whatever costume you want them in. E.G. if you want Homer to earn the premium rate for his Stonecutter skin, you have to put him in that costume first.

  12. Best. Button. Ever. And here I am using my finger like a sucker! (Might also reduce crashes!)

  13. brilliant and very efficient

  14. I Like that Stampy and Mr, Tinny have more task to do now

  15. It’s like they’re reading my thoughts. Last week I thought about how nice it would be to have this exact function. I love it.

  16. So Far I’ve used the 1 hour option a couple of times and I haven’t seen any issue. I’ve checked the Town and there is no one “Waiting for something to do.” When the tasks are complete I’ll check the 4 hour option.

  17. Apologies for the long post . I haven’t got the unemployment office yet despite being on level 44. I know you have to complete Weekend dad part 15 but the only quests I have at the moment are::: High school low Pt5…. Springfield Confidential pt5…Career Aspirations Pt1… Running with the bullies Pt 1… The Krusty-est place on earth Pt 26 and the most recent Narceps one. Out of those is there any chance you could tell me which 1 will unlock the office quicker please. 😁

  18. Very worth the money. After 2 years in game, I have way more game cash than donuts available. Very useful when the timers run out on tasks and I only have a few minutes, before I need to go somewhere, like just before a doctor’s visit or before mass.

  19. Sounds like a great feature. Just need the collect all money button (like in family guy app) and it’s gunna be so much better to play.

My question is: does the job manager total payout include bonus money and XP?

    • I don’t think so. But honestly I didn’t do the math.

    • I don’t think we’ll have a collect button, we have the town hall, that basically lets you locate every character, and that’s what I use to collect all those pesky characters that walks too fast or are too small (Looking at you Snake, Legs, Louie and JubJub :/ )

      • You’d think so, except that the unreleased IRS building has a collect all task. I’m surprised that they are released separately since they basically work together.

  20. Okay I just did some experimenting and I think I’ve figured out why some of the characters don’t go on their tasks when you press the button. If any of the characters are in their main costume and they can craft stuff, they don’t go. If any of your characters have a yellow task in any of their alternate costumes, they don’t go. However if they have a crafting job and you change their costume to something different they do go. That’s what I’ve noticed so far.

    • I thought the same thing, but it doesn’t explain why Barney and Greta don’t get sent…

      • Yeah, I couldn’t get Lenny or Carl to go on the 4 hour task and I don’t have any outfits for them or crafting tasks.

    • It sounds logical, but it didn’t work that way in my town. In mine, some characters who can craft stuff in SH or the recycling centres or both got sent on the 1 hr task (Ralph, Lovejoy, SVT, Herman), and some who don’t do any crafting didn’t get sent (Eddie and Matt for example). Also, some of the characters who didn’t get sent on the 1 hour task in Alissa’s town did get sent in mine (Uter, Hugo). So it does feel a bit random …

  21. I’m almost sobbing with joy. When they fix it so the button includes everyone….just look out. And if they add a “collect all” button???? Well, I think I’m going to ask TSTO to marry me. o_0

  22. Hmmm, I wonder if the bug is OS-related. I still haven’t updated to iOS 9, and when I did the one hour send all task, it worked. No stragglers left behind. I love it! 😀

  23. Am I the only one who is totally unimpressed? I feel it’s taking the tap out of tapped out : (

…and I am usually so positive about all things tsto…

    • You don’t have to use it lol

    • Using 10-15 minutes to send/collect +100 characters can get tedious, specially if you do this every hour, also having 80-100 neighbors will consume 30-45 minutes of your time already, so that will be couple of hours per day (That’s not even counting if you are grinding for Railyard or SH or building/modelling your town). I’d rather have this button than neglect my town.

  24. In my town, all but six were occupied – and that is who were sent – on a one hour task. I was then immediately prompted to send them on a four hour task. Which almost appeared to be a quest line.
Has anyone calculated the “cost” of using this short cut? What is the discount rate? That is, your character will earn the standard $100, but it will cost $10 for the convenience, netting $90.

    • Just subtract the payout (which is accurate) from the cost.

      • Yep, thanks. Just had the opportunity- 2 characters, earning $70 each in normal times. Reward is $140. Cost is $35.
        Convenience has rewards and costs.
Next step – does the cost increase if a Premium Character is in the mix?
What can I say about myself other than I am a nuts and bolts personality. I like to understand the intricacies.

      • I look forward to you full in-depth review.

      • Interesting, I purposely cleared two characters separately.
And I the used the new App on the Employment Office

        Number 1 paid $105 26 XP. and cost $16
SSBob. paid $70 17 XP. and cost $18

The Algorithm is confusing, to me.

  25. Do you know if the payout changes if characters are equipped with premium skins? 🙂 And what if premium skins aren’t equipped, does it still pay premium because premium skins are available? 😀

  26. This is a real blessing for my B-towns. For now, I am not sure if works properly right now though. Had a very large amount of people with open 24hr tasks (and no open yellow tasks) still available AFTER starting the 24hr task through the office. Will observe a bit more and then report it to EA, if it keeps being like that.

Usefulness for my A town will have to be seen, I am usually rather picky about who does what. So I’ll have to see how I approach this. But great to have the option!

  27. barleecreations (canid88)

For me it was the 4hour task that didn’t send all characters.

  28. For me I still have a hard time figuring it out. First time 65 characters went on the 1 hour task and it worked ok, although I had 30-some characters that did nothing.

When I did the 4 hour questline it sent 48 people, but the remaining 45 or so were free so I clicked send them on 1 hour quest and it only put 19 people on those. Then when I went to put others on 8 hours it said, “no jobs available” even though many of those free characters have 8 hour tasks the can do…so, I have no idea how that works.

As for paying for it,I assume it works like this. You pay 10K for 100 characters to do 24 hours tasks. When those are over you get 64K for a bonus PLUS you get 600 or 1000 or whatever you get (plus multiplier) from each character so it costs you 10K to send all but in the end you get what you would normally get plus 50K more…do I have that right?

  29. A lot of my characters I had to send individually

  30. Has anyone done the math? As in, what would the payout be for us to do these jobs manually versus via the Unemployment Center?

    • The payout is what’s indicated, it’s the same. The difference is the cost to send the character on the task.

      • But how do premium characters’ incomes factor in? The payout is probably the number of characters times the “regular” payout for a task of that length, right? And, when you factor in the cost to use the feature, do you earn more sending everyone on one-hour tasks using the feature or sending them on four-4-hour tasks manually? (I’d have said “two-hour tasks,” but I don’t remember if that’s an option for everyone now.)

I agree with Hugh… I’m gonna need to do some math to figure out what the best strategy is for using this nifty new feature!
