Treehouse of Horrors Act 2 is Live! (Updated and Complete)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s time!  Act 2 is upon us!

Remember…this is an automatic change in your game.  Nothing to download, it should just start up in your game..

Bart will start things off for you

Just what does Act 2 have in store for us?  Let’s take a look…

2015-10-06 12.48.12

First….if you don’t see content (questline) for Act 2 check to make sure you’ve completed the Act 1 Main questline.  Details on that can be found on this post.

The switch from S’mores to Gummies will happen even if you didn’t finish the questline.  But the next questline will NOT start unless you finish The Call of the Campfire from Act 1.

New Prize Currency for Act 2..

indicator_eldergodcandy Gummies

You’ll earn Gummies similar to the same way you earned S’mores in Act 1, but with a few changes. You can earn Gummies…

-By tapping nightmares, which will still spawn from the Campfire the same way they did before.  Each nightmare tapped earns you 1 Gummy.

-OR by sending kids to Roast S’mores as the Campfire.  Yes…the action is still there, now it just pays out Gummies instead of S’mores. IMPORTANT NOTE: You’ll only get Gummies from the Campfire initially.  Once you unlock Everscream Terrors (Springfield Horror questline, see details at the bottom of this post) you’ll only earn Nightmares from the Campfire.  Nightmares will still earn you 1 gummy for each one tapped.  But at this point the Gummy earning direct from tasks will be transferred to the adults.

SS from BEFORE unlocking Everscream Terrors:
2015-10-20 12.57.30SS from AFTER unlocking Everscream Terrors (Completing Springfield Horror Pt. 1):
2015-10-20 13.05.23

-You can also earn Gummies via the Daily Prize Combo.  So basically Login everyday and you’ll earn Gummies.

2015-10-20 08.08.05

-They’ll also be awarded when you complete the MAIN questline, which is The Very Young Folk and The Springfield Horror questline.   (Turbo Tappin’ will be up later)

-You will also be able to have Adults Gather at the Simpson House and through special Halloween themed facades for various buildings to earn even more Gummies.  This will not unlock for you until you start Springfield Horror, details are towards the end of this post.

Formless Terrors

formlessterror_front_walk_image_2

Yes, they’re still around for Act 2 and work exactly the same as they did in Act 1.

Shopkeeper’s Challenge with Hugo

Today’s (Tuesday) Shopkeeper Challenge is:
2015-10-20 13.05.29A LOT of you are getting confused because it says make S’mores..and s’mores are no longer available as a currency in the game.  HOWEVER…this is simply telling you to have Hugo do the task of “making s’mores”, i.e. Roasting them at the campfire (since that task box says “send youngsters to make s’mores”).  So simply do Hugo’s task there and it will clear this task for you.

2015-10-20 13.05.23

I promise it’s that simple and it’ll work.  Don’t over think this (or any other aspect of this game) it’ll just give you a headache…

At this point you’ll now be able to send Adults to gather at the Simpson House.  This takes 8hrs, but will earn more Gummies than the Campfire.

Here’s a list of who can go, at least initially:

To bring this option up, just tap on the Simpson House…AFTER you’ve completed Halloween of Horror Pt. 1.

At this point you’ll have to complete parts of Halloween of Horror to keep moving through The Very Young Folk questline.  So if you don’t see the next part of one or the other trigger, try finishing the other pending questline first.  I’ll explain it better on the Turbo Tappin’ post…

Once you reach The Springfield Horror Pt.3 you’ll have 3 new items added to the crafting Menu…

  1. Much better rewards this time around! I finished last year with about 50 spooky walls. Hope to get that much again. Where can I put a dozen or so wailing walls??!

    Operation Craft-a-lot commencing…. Now!

  2. Is it just me or looks the Tenta-Corp HQ a lot like the Gate to nowhere?
Nice update, to bad I had to use 5 donuts to complete act 1 prizes 🙁

    • I think they got the picture wrong. My game graphic doesn’t look like that. 🙂

    • Kim (kimberlyah794)

Yah, Alissa just put the wrong picture in her post. If you go to your game and scroll through the prizes, you’ll see what the Tenta-Corp HQ looks like. Sort of like a skyscraper.

      • I blame 4am 😉 Fixing it now…that’s for letting me know it was on my end.

        • Kim (kimberlyah794)

I don’t think it was a big deal to anyone, Alissa. 🙂

What concerns me more is that a woman who is 3-4 weeks away from her due date is up at 4AM to update this blog! I’m sure a lot of people are telling you this (because it’s true), to make sure you are rested now. Because a definite lack of sleep is ahead of you. Although you could get lucky like I did with my son; he started sleeping through the night (midnight to 6AM) when he was about 6 weeks old. Of course, my daughter, who was a preemie, didn’t sleep through the night until she was about 6 months old, so I paid for it in the end. 😉

          • lol I’m usually up anyway. I don’t think i’ve slept through the night since I was 20 weeks…I figure we’ll take what comes when it comes lol. For now it’s not too bad getting up to rundown everything…it’ll probably be awful when Act 3 starts lol. But we’ll see what happens. One day at a time at this point 🙂

      • Updating a blog at 4 AM seems like excellent practice for nightly feedings. Just like patiently telling people over and over where friend requests belong is good practice for potty training. 🙂

  3. Kind of ticked about Kodos being free this year. I spent a ton of donuts on stuff last year that is free this year.

    • Yeah that’s annoying and I didn’t use donuts. There seems to be a lot of that this year. At least she still seems to pay out at premium level (I crafted)?

    • But you got a lot of use out of them.

    • So, now that you know that’s a not uncommon occurrence, you’ll keep that in mind when deciding whether to spend donuts in something and we won’t have to hear this complaint again down the road, right? 😉

      • If it was just donuts it wouldn’t bug me. I actually spent cash to get the donuts. At leat with the House of Evil I got some crafting stuff.

And I will continue to complain about things. It is what I do best.

    • Don’t worry, I’m ready to be “ticked about” not being able to get freemium things from the past by anything another than donuts. I’ll let you know. *comradery*

  4. the wailing wall earns 300 cash and 30xp in my game every 12 hours…
    Does anyone have the same?

    • Same

    • In the crafting store it’s marked as just offering cash and xp, but if you buy it, it actually gives you a 2.25% bonus, just as it did when it was a premium item last year. Looks like another Tennis Court incident.

  5. This happened with the Tennis Courts, so I’m gonna say it up front: If anyone’s mad because they spent donuts on the Wailing/Spooky Walls and think they should get refunded, then you should refund all the bonus cash you earned from them all this time.

    • I would gladly pay 10 million bucks for 5 donuts. When you reach a certain point, the only money you care about is donuts. That is because in-game currency becomes easier and easier to get.

      • Be sure to also give back the things you bought with that extra cash, as well as the enjoyment you got out of having and using them.

      • Did you get the Rail Yard? If you did, you get 5 donuts each week, if you want to work for it. A very rudimentary calculation tells me that it only costs about 40k “money” in effort to get. So now you can spend some of those millions on ivory back scratchers.

    • Seeing your first reply….IT DIDN’T WORK! They’re willing to do as you say. Try another tact. lol.

  6. YAAAAAAAAAY! KODOS ☆☆☆☆☆

  7. For those of you wondering what to craft, my thoughts on the matter.
The Spooky Wall generates 0.05% which costs one donut at the regular base rate. To get a 1% bonus, you will need 20 wall pieces (a 20 donut value) and need 4000 brains to craft them. If you are replacing existing walls in your town, this is a good replacement, but if you are trying to cut down on the number of items, this is not your best option. The Spooky House and the Wailing Wall generate the same income but with different collection times. But the house takes up a lot of space (8 x 4 or 32 sq.), the wall very little (5 x 1 or 5 sq.). They can be stacked side by side (not end to end) to form a massive wall. This can be placed at the town centre for visitors to tap. At the very least, saying you have the resources, 20 visitors could visit and tap something without needing to navigate at all. Yes, the wall farm has been born (and remember you heard it here first!), but at 7 walls (5 x 1 x 7 squares) to one brown house (5 x 7) it will be far less obnoxious. Walls also cost less (250 brains) than houses (500 eggs), 4000 nightmares will get you 16 walls or 8 houses. But the houses are competing for resources with the Spooky Walls, not the Wailing Walls. So which is better. A spooky house is generating 75 dollars every three hours. I have not done the math yet for the average income rate for property, so for ease of calculation, let us say that 75 dollars every three hours is the standard income rate. Two houses cost 1000 eggs and generate 150 dollars every three hours. 5 Spooky Walls cost 1000 eggs and generate a bonus of 0.25%. In order for that 0.25% to equal 150 dollars, you would need 400 houses (you need 4 x 0.25% to get 1% thus 4 x 100 to get 100%). Only house farms can have that many units. So if you want to increase your income, the best option is Wailing Walls, out of what is available so far in this event. And for those of you wondering, 20 visitors require 60 properties to tap. At 250 brains each, you need 15,000 (fifteen thousand) brains. Start tapping!!!

    • I don’t think you even mentioned that wailing walls generate 2.25 bonus so and cash too. Only earning brains from now apart from shopkeeper tasks I reckons.

    • Nice math. You just forgot to mention the wailing walls provide a bonus %. So yeah, of course they are the way to go!

    • Thanks for the analysis! One other small factor to consider though…The spooky walls can be used to decorate “normal” areas…my Quimby compound is encircled by them, because they look like a normal kind of wall. The wailing walls are a lot more “seasonal.”

      • True. I love how we’re getting innumerable amount of bramble walls. If only that were true for the spooky walls as well. Oh well. Just have to craft like crazy if I want a plentiful supply of them.

    • I was working with the info listed in the crafting catalogue. I see now that they do indeed offer a 2.25% bonus. Five walls would offer an 11.25 bonus. If I did the math correctly, then you would need 8.89 houses to generate 150 dollars (100% / 11.25%, 100% would generate 150 dollars) which makes Wailing Walls a fantastic deal, better than 300 dollars twice a day. But they won’t work very well as a wall farm for visitors then. But they would make a good replacement for tennis courts in terms of space. I presume that since crafting is limited, they will not be withdrawn prematurely, but crafting early might be an idea.

    • Responded too quickly to the change in info. Was just happy to figure out the formula. Two Spooky Houses, four Wailing Walls, and five Spooky Walls all cost 1000 nightmares, which are equally easy to obtain. Thus the bonus generated by Wailing Walls costing 1000 nightmares would be 9% rather than 11.25 (which is for five units). Thus it would take 22.22 houses to generate 150 dollars per three hours (100% / 9% = 11.11 times, but 150 dollars is generated by 2 houses, so it would take twice that)

To put it another way, if you have 100 buildings paying out 75 dollars every three hours, a 9% bonus would pay you 675 dollars (100 x 75 x .09) for that three hours compared to the 150 dollars the two houses you could craft with the same materials would yield.

  8. My campfire is saying roast s’mores and is then saying it pays out so, not gummies 🙁

    • Hmm. It seems you get them when you tap on the nightmare now, rather than releasing the kids from the campfire. So you get all three ‘currencies’ unless I am missing something…

    • Actually it pays out just nightmares now. (but you still earn Gummies from Tappin’ nightmares) This morning, early, it showed Gummies…but I think that happens before you unlock the Everscream Terrors Facade. Once you unlock Everscream Terrors everything switches to that paying out…here’s a screenshot from my low level game that does not have Everscream Terrors unlocked…

  9. So, time to switch over entirely to brains and grind as many Wailing Walls as humanly possible? It’s like a super White House!

    • The next upgrade for my campfire is snakes. I was unhappy that Lisa wasn’t available to tell a snake story due to the quest, so I’d be stuck with zombies for a while. Then I learned about the Wailing Wall. I’m OK with getting more zombies now. 🙂 14 walls and counting.

  10. Just crafted Kodos! (Was I supposed to wait for a crafting quest? Too late now I suppose!). I sent Lisa off to make smores so I have to wait 3 hours until she can start her quest. Boooo.
Super excited about Clockwork Bart too. I don’t have any skins for him yet.

    • I wondered about that, too. I completed all the crafting side quests and found that they don’t require crafting Kodos. I crafted her right after that. 🙂

  11. It’s my first thoh and love it but I’ve got one major problem, I can’t visit my neighbours without getting kicked out of the game. Is there anyway of sorting this? Cheers by the way you guys do a great job with this site.

  12. How can we get Witch Marge if we don’t already have that costume?

  13. I now it we can craft Kodos oh and i crafted her it’s great but her’s 8 Hour Laugh needs a quest but no quest is poping up.

  14. Since we cannot get s’mores for the Evil Storekeepers Challenge, will that automatically change, too?

  15. Finally got Kodos without spending donuts hehehe..

  16. All I can say is thanks again. You guys are great.

  17. Phoenixgirl22447

This is awesome! I’d been wanting the wailing wall for ages but didn’t want to spend the donuts on it last year. And crafted Kodos too. Thanks for such a speedy and thorough post too!

  18. Are the kids supposed to be still roasting s’mores ? I thought we were collecting gummies?

  19. With the adult earning gummies it should be a little easier to get all the act prizes this time.

  20. So much new stuff! Im so happy! This event just got alot better in my opinion. Kodos, pumpkins, Everscream terrace etc… with 543 donuts to spend, i am ready!

  21. I spent 150 donuts on kodos last year. Feel kinda ripped right now. I little underwhelmed with the prizes so far. Gate to nowhere is a dud and everything else are just rehashed prizes from years past. I do like the model donut and Barts costume skin. Hopefully act three will bring some desirable content. Not really THOH but I’d love a Smithers Bobo costume.

  22. Shaping up to be an amazing event. And…and..KODOS?!? Seriously?? This may be the best give away I can remember in Tapped Out recent memory. Pretty cool to get the Wailing Wall as well. I wish they would offer the alien puking in the golden pool thing that was offered last year. Only item I’ve never gotten on the freemium scale.

  23. I had my kids getting smores when the changeover happen. Now I can’t access them it still shows them being there but not able to access s’mores menu. If I store their home building I can get them out again but what about Lisa and characters that don’t have a building.? Thank you if you hear anything I appreciate it.

    • So when you tap the campfire, nothing happens? Is that right? If that’s the case, try a hard close and restart see if that helps. You can also go to Krustyland and back.
If they’re still stuck, yes you can store their buildings but to get Lisa out you’ll need to contact EA.

  24. Finally, Kodos!

  25. LOVE that we get to craft kodos 🙂 been playing for almost 3 years now, but hadn’t had the chance to get him yet

  26. That’s better

  27. im getting a .05 % bonus on all the spooky walls I crafted. thats nice.

  28. Wailing wall, 250 brains and 2.25% bonus! Amazing!!

    • Do you that if you craft more than 1, you get the %bonus twice?

    • I can’t help but think that is a bug which will be fixed very soon.

      • Nope that’s how it’s supposed to be. Wailing Walls (and Spooky walls) were originally premium items when they were released. (2013) But last year they were brought back as crafting and prizes inside treat bags, so it’s the same deal this year. Craftable but still earn bonus %

    • Now have four of these…

    • I’ve never found them to be an attractive decoration. But, I guess if I have plenty of brains (BRAAAAAAAIIINNNSSSS) at the end of this act, that I might scoop up a few more of these and hide them behind some buildings.

  29. I was literally just thinking they should have Halloween facades! Very cool.

    • That’s cool how prescient you were in thought. I got spoilered a while ago about the impending façades, but it was still cool to have them finally appear. 🙂
