Looks like Ol’ Gil is back in Springfield…good to see the mob that drove him out during the Monorail Event couldn’t keep him away! And this time he’s got a trick or treat of a Halloween Deal for us…depending on how you look at it.
Back with more on this in a bit, as soon as I’ve had a chance to go through it… More details below the fold…
As usual you’ll find Ol’ Gil begging on the streets of Springfield..
Once you tap on him you’ll see this dialogue between him and Mr. Burns…
Mr. Burns: Gunderson! This army of deadly robots you sold me has not launch a single attack. They just wander aimlessly about the mansion.
Gil: I kept tryin’ to tell ya. They’re not soldier robots. They’re vacuum cleaners. What makes them, quote “robots” is a logarithm that keeps ’em from gettin’ stuck under furniture.
Mr. Burns: Ever single one of them is stuck under some kind of furniture.
Gil: Yes. They are not good at what they do.
Mr. Burns: Fine. Just refund the money I paid.
Gil: I’m sorry. I spent it all on this stone bed. But I gotta say, this thing is tough to sleep on. It’s cold, hard, inspires malevolent thoughts when I touch it…
Mr. Burns: That’s not a bed. That’s an evil sepulcher! Just like the one Mama had!
At this point you’ll be offered the deal you see above…225 donuts for Sepulcher of Evil.

Gil: Wha-What?! You don’t want it?! If I don’t make a sale, I get fired. And by that I mean I get thrown into a pit of eternal fire. But no pressure, you do what’s right for you. Just…ignore my screams.

Gil: You brought it?! Yay! Ol’ Gil’s on an upswing! Life is lookin’ pretty good! Now all I need is a dry place to store my trash bag belongings! I’m living the life now!
So what is it? What does it do? Is it really worth 225 donuts?
First, we’ll break a lot of this down (in particular if it’s worth it), in a Should I Buy post…which will be up later today. You have a week on this promo, so don’t rush right now and buy it. Think about it and wait till you have all the info before you pull the trigger on buying it….
Animated when tapped. The book in the center opens and pages turn. And the Gargoyles eyes light up. 4% bonus on all cash and XP. 11×11 in size. Comes with a questline, focused around Mr. Burns. You’ll have to complete the questline to unlock the job for Mr. Burns to spawn nightmares. And Mr. Burns has a pretty awesome task there…
As far as nightmare spawns…it requires a 4hr task for Mr. Burns and spawns 4 3 nightmares. From what I can tell it spawns whatever nightmare you currently have in your town (so if you’re spawning Zombies, it’ll continue with Zombies)

Ok I’m confused. People are talking about the wailing walls and the bonus they give but in my town they give cash not a bonus it’s the spooky walls that give a bonus what are they talking about
They give a bonus. It’s just not posted. If you put them in your town you’ll see your bonus % increase…

I thought the Gil update would be EA making amends for excluding the most loyal players from the special deal. But no. I was buying one or 2 golden scratchers a day but not one since it was clear EA was treating me like dirt.
Gil’s deal just offends me all over again. My, EA is getting smug. Stuff ’em. But not with my donuts.

Holy geez! Thats alot of donuts! I think it looks awesome and would love to get it but my oh my its costly! I love demonic type stuff and without jest, it seems to like me however i just cant afford it! Kinda saving donuts for something like skins or new characters.
It’s not worth it but damn does it look cool. What does that translate to $20?
If you buy 100 USD worth of donuts, it costs 9.38 USD, 500 USD – 12.50 USD, 20 USD – 14.99, 10 USD – 17.08 USD, 5 USD – 18.71 USD, and 2 USD – only 37.31 USD. Yes, everyone should buy their donuts 2 dollars at a time. Bruhahaha. There are equivalents for the scratcher ticket rates, but I doubt anyone is buying them for this.

Considering Sherri and Terri award 8 nightmares every four hours at 150 donuts, this thing should award at least 12 every 4 hours! 😄
And there’s the logical clincher for passing on the deal.
Hard pass. Gil’s “deals” are always so expensive. I can’t remember the last time I saw one that actually WAS a deal.
I always kinda thought that was the idea… Gil is offering you a “deal,” but remember, at the end of the day, he is a sleazy used car salesman.

I hate the price, but it plays on some of my favorite horror motifs so I think I have to get it. I felt the same way with the Murderhorn and have no regrets with that purchase. I giggle every time I see McAllister’s frozen toboggan body. I’m also dying for a new level, I’m bored with the maintenance stuff–Monorail and the endless leveling up of the bonfire, I want more! Thank you for the pictures and info, after I read the pros and cons I’ll probably have this in my town.

Yikes, I wish there was a way to select “No way” and see or hear Gil scream in eternal flames. Fort that amount of donuts I’d expect a Lot more.
Even if Burns was Lord Voldemort and had Slithers it would still be a pass for me. And I doubt his summoning nightmares task is titled “Boo-urns”
While the down load was happening I was hoping for a Level Update because I have Tenta-Corp, I don’t NEED any more Nightmares until the next act and even then I think I’ll have plenty.
So, I’m sorry for being so sour about this deal. But the price seems insane to me. Maybe the folks at EA has been working to hard, All work and No play, yadda yadda.
One for the whales. I’m not freemium but the cost of donuts is still expensive enough to prohibit a see it, want it, get it, attitude. Besides, I’m still bloody annoyed about the Frink rip off.
Incidentally, for comparison the boatload costs £79.99 in the UK, is roughly $122 US. No idea if the value is the same everywhere or if some countries are getting swizzed but I do know regular donuts are out of my budget.

currently i have a queue of neighbor requests from people that i either don’t know or IDs that i don’t recognize, so for anyone that happens to read this post and has a pending friend request with me, get at me and i will add you right away. as i’ve mentioned several times before, people that i “know” that comment on here will get precedence over lurking neighbors that i’ve added, unless they happen to always be active or are simply awesome neighbors (i’d give props to a few i have that i’ve never seen comment, but i hesitate to give their IDs away if they are concerned about that).
Looks very cool, but that price is way iver the top for a glorified decoration. Getting crafting parts has not been am issue during this event, so I would only be buying this for the look. Not worth it imo.

I don’t remember that, I’m too young, but this doesn’t really feel like a deal of any kind. Probably would have been better just to unleash it into the store to buy just as has been done with other items.
It’s halfway through the event and we already know that we can make/collect enough stuff

OK, I’ve just got to throw out there that SmashBurger’s truffle mushroom Swiss burger is INSANELY delicious. But at 60 or 70 grams of fat? I’ve been putting it off for months. Alissa, I take your trip to SmashBurger as a sign from the indulgence gods that it’s time for me to go, too, so thanks for giving me an excuse. 😉

They have a peppermint milkshake now (until after Christmas) that I was drooling over yesterday. But I have a hard time justifying getting milkshakes. Plus I’m not really a dessert person, I’ll usually have like 1/3-1/2 of something and then end up giving it to my husband to finish. So instead i just drooled over it. lol

For me it was the exact opposite, I haven’t gotten anything just for the reason of helping with the event since Halloween 2013. I’m more than set for craft items so that wasn’t a consideration. I just want variety. I don’t do multiples of anything. That’s why in my town you’ll find one tennis court and two Spooky walls. I’ve been stuck above $200 million for a long time now, keep waiting for an aspirational item for like $250 million. For me it comes down to it looks freaking awesome and I have the book of the dead in my town. I’ve probably watched Evil Dead four times in the last week.
When the update hit, I loss my shop keeper count for today’s task. It’s now back to 0/4. Anyone having this issue?
It looks really cool and I really want it, but the price……it’s insane. Will definitely sit on the fence for awhile. Also, somehow I missed when Bob’s house was leaving. I wasn’t sure on it, but once it was gone, now I know that I really did want it. 🙁

OK, maximum 20 nightmares per day x 19 days left = 380 nightmares or one and a half Wailing Walls. If you like it per se, then it is an option. But from the perspective of helping your crafting, this is way overpriced. Definitely a pass for me.
Definitely a pass for everyone who has mr. burns with dracula costume, that gives 24 x19 = 456 almost 2 Wailing Walls with much less tapping. (24hrs task x 4hrs task)

No , no way, absolutely not. I pass on these ridiculously expensive Gil deals even when I think the item is super cool. Something I can’t even see? What a joke.
I really expected a new level when I saw the download start. What a massive disappointment this is.
It was a sort of big download (compared to the text patch the other day). Seeing this huge mystery was interesting…but 225 donuts…. Nope, you can’t have all my donuts, EA! Plus, as you say, what the heck was it, I couldn’t even see it. I had to go to a website to see the actual design.
There were a few other things they added to the files along with the Gil deal. But stuff for the THOH event…
“But stuff…”? What does that mean? (No, I wasn’t saying “butt”….) I understand that there are often more changes made than just the most visible one. But that thing looks huge and the animations must make the file bigger, too, therefore I think that’s the reason this update was a bit larger. I have no way to tell if I’m right, but I think it was bigger than the last tie-in update. I based this on how long I have to wait for them to finish downloading (because I didn’t keep track of the numbers). heh…
The thing is almost the size of the campfire and ugly. I seriously doubt the number of nightmares Burns can summon will make 225 donuts worth the price for me. I’ll craft enough Wailing Walls without his help.
I bought Gil’s deal this morning while tapping my life away. Came back to check on it and it’s gone! What the????

Not necessarily. Sometimes they push a Gil deal and you won’t see anything new until the Gil deal is up.

Speaking of Level updates… I recently reached Level 57, and was amazed to find that I could instantly buy the Overpass Diner, while still working on gameplay from Level 40!!! Is this what they do now??? Can we buy things immediately???
(NB: Haven’t actually bought it yet – waiting for more updates so the price can go down. Just really surprised to see it pop up in my store!)
Usually if you have the character/building from the earlier levels you can buy the next one even if you’re not done with the earlier questlines.
I got offered the Overpass Diner, as well. I have a feeling that that’s the only one to be offered early. I’m only like level 50 in gameplay even though I’m at lvl 58 in xp now.
Cool looking item. Was hoping for a level update but this will do.

Awesome animation with Burns in a robe but even I am going to skip it. Even though I can get it for free with a mod it’s totally pointless especially after the event is over there is no point at all to have it….it most likely won’t do anything at all after the event is over. So you’d basically be throwing 225 donuts out the window for something that does nothing long term unless your using a mod and want to get it for free. It doesn’t look too bad its just pointless, we already got enough things that spawn nightmares for the event…..what we need is a new level update or something else…something better like a new character or something…..

Yep, I know I got “ripped off”, way too steep a price for what it is. Not meaning this as a complaint, but this tapper has hardly had any content to buy this event. Something I would have passed on, but figured that since I’ve hardly spent any donuts this event, it won’t hurt the bank too much. Plus am loving the look of the blue brick with the gold fancy SH fences. Want an area that’s spooky fancy 🙂
