Well it’s not Valentine’s Day…but we did get ourselves a little in game update in preparation for the “Big Game” this weekend! Gil is back and he’s brought along some tailgate fun!
Oh and did I mention there’s a new quest involving donuts?!
Back with more in a bit as soon as I go through it . For now know that you’ll need Homer and Lisa free to kick things off for the donuts…. (Gil will just be hanging around Springfield as usual)

Ok so let’s start with a couple of the basics…you know the stuff on timers 😉
It’s Superbowl Weekend and TSTO decided to celebrate the Big Game by offering up a Gil Deal in addition to some items returning to the store. Let’s take a look…
Items in the store…
These appear after you start the dialogue for the Gil Deal…

Football Uprights- 50 Donuts
No, we won’t be doing Should I Buys for the random stadium items in this update. They’re returning from Tap Ball and basically they’re a if you like it get it items.
And now onto our friend Gil..
You’ll find Gil wandering around the streets of Springfield with a deal for you! Here’s what you’ll see when you tap on him:
Gil: Who ya rooting for in the Big Game? Care to put some skin in the game? Because that’s all I’ve got to bet – my skin.
Homer: The Big wha?
Gil: Y’know, the Big Game! The Gridiron Championship! 22 men enter! 22 men leave! But only 11 as winners!
Homer: Ohhh, you mean the Superbo–
Gil: Whoa, buddy! Do you want Ol’ Gil to get sued? Although if I get sued one more time, I get my next trial free. Instead, keep me out of jail by buying my sweet tailgate party package with beers, burgers and babes for the Big Day!
And if you say no….
Gil: No sale!? Not even for the Big Game? Well, fine. I’ve got my own party to throw. And nooo, it’s not with imaginary friends. Because I’ve saved up enough money to buy the dolls.
And if you say yes….
Gil: Finally! A win! Much like one of those teams that will be playing on that day we mentioned. I won’t have to melt all my participation trophies down for scrap metal. Instead I’ll keep sleeping on them in my trunk. So pointy!
The tailgate itself is pretty massive at a whopping 11×17 in size. We’ll cover a lot of details on it in it’s own Should I Buy post, yes we’ll be doing one. But for now know that it can be upgraded and it comes with it’s own questline.
So now let’s talk about the other big thing with this update…daily challenges. First let me start by saying there’s a questline and a few other things associated with it. This post is just a general understanding. We’ll break EVERYTHING town in detailed posts, as we always do, coming up. So sit tight for more detailed info, as this is just a basic overview….
Homer kicks off the Daily Challenges quests and you’ll start by getting a series of short tasks…from 6s to 1m until you unlock the challenges.
You’ll also unlock a new building…Big Box:
Once you’ve unlocked the challenges you’ll see this popup:
You’ll now be able to complete challenges each day at a shot to win prizes, including donuts! Pretty sweet!
And they’ll work just like Daily Challenges from previous events. Log in each day to unlock a new Challenge. Complete the challenges each week to earn the prize! And because there are 5 challenges to a week, and today is Thursday EA’s unlocking the first 4 for you to complete today. So that by tomorrow (Friday) you’ll be able to unlock the 5th and final prize for the Bonus Prize! And the challenges will reset again Monday morning. Now that i’ve played through it I can tell you there’s a challenge every day, including weekends. And the number of challenges to complete to earn a prize will vary from 5 challenges to 20 challenges.
Now one thing to note. The arrival of the daily challenges means the removal of the Daily Play Combo…
Which means…no more free weekly Mystery Boxes! However, EA’s giving you 1 more free one to make up for it…

Note: Some of you are getting confused on this. This is not the end of Mystery Boxes. You’ll still be able to buy them in the store (for donuts), it’s just the end of the Daily Play Combo…meaning the end of the free mystery box on the 5th day.
There are a couple of questlines that come with this new update. We’ll cover those in our Turbo Tappin’ post…
However, one other thing to note is this update includes a new task for Springfield Heights. You’ll now be tasked to upgrade the Private Island to Level 5 via the Paradise Found questline.
Some of you are commenting that your Islands are all already at Level 5 and you can’t do anything to clear the task. If this is happening to you, and you don’t have an option to purchase another Island. Contact EA. Let them know what’s going on. It’s a programming glitch that needs to be fixed. They’ll have to release a patch to restore it. So contact EA and let them know. Once you’ve contacted them, sit tight and ignore the task for now. (You can contact EA here)
You’re also tasked with upgrading the Exclusive Resort to Level 5 via the When Four Stars Is Not Enough questline. Currently I have a bug on my Exclusive Resort where it says it’s an Elf Cannon and it won’t let me upgrade it. If that’s happening to you as well, contact EA.

Any free donuts are good donuts
An easier way to get donuts has been a long time coming. Better than playing five days straight only to be “rewarded” with a stupid pond.
Nice update! I would rather have this than mystery boxes.
Got the in-game update and all the new quests, but now my game has no sound. I checked the settings and they are still showing there should be sound, but apparently, there’s a bug in the new code as I now have silence. No music and no sfx.
Ok. I rebooted my device and sound within the game came back. Weird. Had sound for other things (music, other apps, youtube, videos on facebook, etc.), just not TO. But at least I was able to resolve with a reboot. When in doubt…

wow, i was really lucky, earlier today i got a mystery box for logging in and in it i found 10 donuts. what a great thing for a last regulary received mystery box 😀 couple of weeks ago, i finally got the lard lad donuts, the last premium item from mystery boxes that i was missing. I wont miss the boxes that much now 🙂
Awesome, I got my last mystery box today and it had 30 donuts in it! On the other hand, I’m leaving tomorrow for a place without Internet and won’t be back till Tuesday night. I wonder how much I’ll actually miss.
I have a problem because I have already upgraded all of my SH buildings to the max (including the private island). I can’t buy anymore and update them, so I can’t move forward with that quest.

so have they removed the daily bonus? i think it’s a good thing they have, becauase i would keep getting the same things in the chest, i’ve got around 6 weather trucks, loads of Crab Kalash carts, loads of superintendent chalmers cars, 2 Lard Lad doughnut shops, and loads of others that are just the same.
Woohoo update!! Very cool that they brought back a lot of the tap ball craftables for donuts. Too bad the ones we already have don’t come with a bonus. And free fences yes yes yes!!! I wanted so many more fences during the event and just couldn’t afford them.
And this bonut thing is amazing!! Simple tasks for donuts. EA is being very generous lately.

Sadly we cant give presents in the game, I could have given out some of mine. I have five lard lad donuts in my inventory and three outside on display. XDD

I have two Lard Lads in my inventory. Sadly you cannot transfer items from one account to another.
It it were possible, we would likely see more complaints about hacked accounts and/or theft after someone accidentally landed in a foreign game (haven’t heard about that for quite some time, but in the past it happened kinda frequently).
I’d like that feature, though, so that I could transfer stuff from my B to my A game – especially earned donuts.
So I guess a bunch of idiots who are never happy, got the mystery box removed? Just because they got a pond or bomb shelter occasionally. WHY?!? You could get 40 donuts in one go. Now it’s going to take a month to get that much with the new system.
How about you wait and see what the new system has to offer. Especially since a lot of times you don’t get free donuts in the mystery box and with 1 every 5 days it could take more than a month to get it. Personally, I haven’t gotten donuts in a mystery box in at least 4 months. I didn’t complain about it, but i’d rather get some donuts than no donuts.
Ya I can’t remember the last time I got donuts either. Just kept getting H_ndas and ponds… I for one welcome our new daily challenge overlords!

And I like the new tasks they so far seem easy (just send characters on jobs and ‘we’ can dismiss/swap a task for another if ‘we’ don’t like the task ..Yay, I’m ready for some free sprinkles.. 🙂

Besides the donut and big game thing, I was prompted to upgrade a Private Island and an Exclusive Resort both to level 5.
I also got some tasks to upgrade a private island all the way to level 5.
I got that same task… and I have an island sitting there that is maxed out that isn’t getting counted :o\

Yeah, heights currency does pop up on the rewards. i had one for pills (task was to collect 15 pills, i got 5 as a reward). I’m not sure if all the different SH currencies are options, but certainly some are.
Little bit disappointed, I was gearing up for Valentine’s or Level 60. The challenges looks quite cool though, I never won anything good from the mystery boxes so I don’t care too much about losing them.
I hope we still get a daily bonus during events because I always appreciated the extra currency every day.
Anyway. I’ll be buying a few stadium fences since they’re available. Last time I was only able to craft two pieces, and what are you going to do with two pieces of fence? Not a lot..

Good point. I did get blue haired lawyer and Kearney so I’m thankful for those. In over a year of playing I think I’ve got donuts maybe once? This way seems much better.
I have about 7 bomb shelters, 5 cars, 10 signs..

After doing the first couple of challenges I’ve already decided I like them better than the boxes.
You know what’s called bad timing? Sending everyone on 12 hour task LITERALLY 5 minutes before we get an update. Sheeit.
I keep getting an upgrade private island to level 2 tasks (heights) but I’m done all of them. Is this a glitch or something more sinister? Ie new character for another 1 billion sh points.
Is anyone else having the issue where the game restarts itself and takes you back to the loading screen, saying “synchronizing” and then reloading the game again?
Nope. Try uninstalling and reinstalling
Hey, what happens if I dismiss a task? Do we have only 5 tasks? Then I guess it’s better dismissing 1 doughnut tasks and doing only 3 doughnut ones.
You can dismiss 1 per day for another task. You’ll still get 5 each week. In otherwords if you dismiss 1 it’s replaced with another.
I feel like this is the beginning of the end of level updates…. EA has been way to generous with donuts in the past few months. Buttering us up to let us down gently….

It’s just a replacement for the Daily Prize combo. You know the Mystery box you got every 5th day? Sometimes you’d get 30 free donuts in that. That’s what this is. Just a update for that. You won’t always get donuts as the final prize, but it is an option. Enjoy it for what it is 🙂
Speaking of free donuts, I have recently been getting more free donuts from visiting neighbours. Previously,there were long gaps in between finding the occasion donut from a neighbour visit. But, the last two days, I received 5 in total! Yay (I mean, OH NO!!! this must mean EA is closing the Simpson game down!!!) LOL 🙂

It appears that they’ll still be around (they’re still in the store), but just no more getting a free one from 5 continuous days of play. These daily tasks appear to be replacing that system.
I thought it would be both… hit me like a ton of laundered donuts.

They’ve scrapped the daily bonus / mystery box and replaced it with daily challenges with free doughnuts! I got 30 doughnuts in my last ever mystery box – I wonder if it’s the same for everyone?
Unfortunately, no – both Alissa and I got the news van. Jelous of all of the people I see posting here who got the 30-donut prize!

Off the top of my head, CBG, Agnes Skinner, and Reverend Lovejoy are pessimists. I know there are many others, and I’m sure there’s a handy list somewhere around here.
I’ve the same tasks too. I think these are the starter tasks that introduce the new challenges. I wonder how long this is going to be around? Anyone know?
I changed out the Cletus task ($1,000) and got “Make pessimists complain about reboot” x 5 (1 donut). Always go for the donut. 😋
