From the Mouths of Addicts: The End Isn’t Near

The following post was submitted by one of our Addicts Regulars..Totbox.  Perhaps you’ve seen Tot in the comments a time or two ;)…

Hello all you Paranoid-ereenos,

First and foremost, make sure you are taking your medication as your doctor prescribed, don’t forget to contact your physician if this is a medical emergency.

(Wish somebody told me that before the police found me running down the middle of the street half naked that one time –true story– but that’s not what this post is about)

THE END ISN’T NEAR!!

(I repEAt, the end isn’t nEAr) end isn't near 1

end2

EA is a company like any other that will continue as long as they have a profit (not to be confused with a “prophet”).

Money, REAL money makes this game continue. You know why this game doesn’t have pop up ads like some other EA game? It’s because this one has Whales (I’m Not talking about the one you can buy for donuts) – it’s a term for gamers that spend real cash for digital stuff.

end3                                    (I realize this is not a Whale but it made me laugh) :p

These “Lulls” (as Alissa calls them) between events/updates/mini-events is a way for EA to work on something bigger and greater and for us (the players) to regroup and edit our towns and remember that we might have a life outside of the game we should probably pay attention to for just a moment before the next new contact hits. It’s meant to be a good thing for us.

If you are still worried read Wookie’s post from a few years back http://tstoaddicts.com/2013/11/30/is-it-the-game-that-will-never-end-will-it-go-on-and-on-my-friends/

So come out of your Y2K bomb shelter and take a deep breath, if it really was the end of the world as we know it, I feel fine 😀

ENJOY EA’s free donuts and popular released characters and read my Apoca-Lips

THE END ISN’T NEAR!!!

If it sounded harsh, it was meant to be (a slap in the face is the fastest way to common sense). Do you want to slap my face? Do you need to contact your physician? Are you mixing your meds with alcohol again? Getting enough sleep? Do you still have Chicken-Little-Syndrome? Do we need to get a negotiator to talk you down from your sofa? We will help you as best you can but sometimes getting professional help is better. Leave a comment if you must, you know we love hearing from you :p

  1. The Sherriff is near!

I have to assume there was a hint of Blazing Saddles in that post. Nicely done.

If Fox can milk out 25+ years out of a poorly drawn cartoon, EA probably had a good 15 left.

  2. Is the next update near? 🙂

  3. I left my iPad at work on Friday, so 3 days with no TSTO. I got so much work done on the weekend, but I was miserable. A big thank you to all you Premium players for keeping this game alive.

  4. I am still absolutely convinced that with every new day coming we will be one day closer to the end. 🙂

  5. I wouldn’t be surprised if the game outlasted the show, or at the very least, kept going long after the show ends. And yes. The show will end eventually. The show’s already a little stale. There’s nothing more they can do that hasn’t already been done. As the character on South Park famously said: “Simpson’s did it”.

  6. I think even when the game is completed (long time from now), they’ll do reruns of events, so that they can have different players take on the game

    • I think it would be fun (a few years from now) for EA to “end” TSTO by having Homer blow up the town again, but allow us to restart but with the Futurama characters instead. They could give long time players a ton of premium currency for the new game. New players would start from scratch.

  7. Loved this 😀

I don’t understand why there’s so much doom and gloom, OK it’s been a while since we got a new level but it’s not as though there’s been no new content and the game has been left sitting on a shelf. Now we just have to wait and see what EA deliver next 🙂

  8. Leave a comment if you must?

Sounds like you don’t really want us to
    🙂

    • Greetings to you , Lee! Love checking out your brilliant creativity.

    • Lol – you noticed it. I just assumed that this wasn’t going to be as positively received. Expected a lot more rebuttals.

And when ever I read “leave a comment, you know we love hearing from you” I always read it as if it is sarcasm. Just putting my own spin on it :p

      • I never thought anything was ending,
people try to read something into everything that EA™ does (or doesn’t do)
The only thing we can be sure of …..whatever EA™ is doing, is their latest strategy for continuing to make money 💰 💰 💰

        and keep taking the meds 💉 💊 💉 💊 🚬 🙂

  9. After playing EA’s superhero game (I forgot the name now)- that was super popular I always worry when they start doing things that are ‘sunsetting’ behavior :p

  10. IT’S BETTER (*slap!*) TO BE SAFE (*slap!*) THAN (*slap!*) SORRY!! (*slap!*)

  11. Oh woe is me the end is NOT near 😂😂 I agree it’s the best of this type of game out there by far, if you want to moan play Family Guy, loads of reasons to moan then. 😉 just read the comments from there, the poor girls get it all the time there, and still smile.😊😊 Don’t know how they do it. Oh bye the way still on the medication . 😩😆

    • How did you get out of my head, Simpsonsfan? Gotta push you back in there. You belong right there next to simp6fan, swimfan, and fgfan. Right there between my eyes. The eye brain (which is where that eye goo comes from). I got my eye on you, is what I’m saying.

  12. Kim (kimberlyah794)

“Read my Apoca-Lips” LOL, Tot! You are awesome! 🙂

  13. Great post Totbox.

These mini events are busy work. Nothing more, nothing less. Do you really want two major events back to back? No. Chill out folks. I’m only peeved off that level 60 hasn’t dropped yet. I think something big (major event, part 3 of Springfield heights or level 60) will hit this week. The tallest tree is busy work for us sitting on millions of cash.

  14. I love the breaks! In between, I have been playing Tapped out since the very first day. I have never missed one day and when I go on holidays I play or ask my neighbour who already feeds the cat, water’s the garden and now has to take care of my Simpsons. However I trust no one with the challenges, and do them myself. I have woken up so many times to play during the night, to make sure that I get all of the prizes. My life is entwined with the Simpsons. I am turning yellow!

    • I had jaundice, too! 🙂

(Oh, um, you weren’t saying that…..)

      • My lady friend said I am homer. For example, I dance with funny moves, I burped loudly and unconsciously I even did the both arms raise hoo hoo pose in a recent photo.

        • All I can say is that my “lady friend” grumbles (like Marge!) when she realizes I’m doing something Simpsonsesque. I say “eh, what are ya gonna do” during those “just stop doing it” moments, like finishing some food that tastes unpleasant. The grumble mostly happens when we’re watching the show and she realizes that’s where it comes from. Her normal reply, btw, is “you could stop”. Lol

    • You have nice neighbours! I ask my lady friend to use her Handphone to download the game and play for me when my phone broke down but she refused.

  15. Of course it won’t end. EA makes good money off it, why would they end it? Even Star Wars didn’t end…

Imagine how many premium items there are for a new player….
We have been playing for years! had the chance to win bonuts from past events.

New players can run away from the game scared with how hard will be to get all “must have” premium content.

thats why there is new ways to get donuts now….
Not because “the end is near”.

    • As someone who has been playing for almost a year I welcome that donuts are a little easier to get hold of.

After all this time I still have a 800 donut wish list of non-timelimited premium characters to work my way through.

  17. they are giving LOTS of donuts for free. We have maggie, we have everyday-event, we have the train thingy. are you sure isnt close to an end? :c

  18. Frankly, my wife would rejoice if TSTO came to an end… she already thinks I spend far too much of my time in Springfield! 😆 (She’s right… I do. I really, really do.)

    • My husband solved this problem by getting me addicted to it too. Now I can’t get irritated because I’m too busy tapping my own game (he is also wowed by my ability to cook while tapping and not drop the tablet into a pot or burn everything).

Great column, totbox. I agree it’s not ending anytime soon but OMG do I want a new level.

      • I broke out laughing picturing you cooking and tapping on the other hand. For me I still tap away when in the toilet doing my stuff.

      • Would, that I could accomplish the same… but my wife has an irrational (to my mind) hatred of all things Simpsons, ostensibly based on moral grounds. And yet, she loves other shows like Dexter and Big Bang Theory… 😐

        • Aww. That is odd. I can understand Family Guy and even American Dad (which I love) but Simpsons just seems so…wholesome. We briefly weren’t allowed to watch Simpsons as kids when it first started airing because an aunt my mom thought was immoral liked it. Then she saw a couple episodes herself and it was allowed.

    The End is Rear?

  20. Just give me land pleassssse. And I’m done taking meds, Totbox…I hope. And I have complete confidence that the end of EA is not near (the world is another question).
PS: I WASTED 250 donuts not realizing the final Valentine bundle was going directly to my dump box….fensessssss, benchessss, etc…no trees, mind you. Dang!
Love you, Totbox; will be visiting you today. I’ve been flu-ish and on a couch for 3 days, so no visiting! RevJRO

    • sonicboiny834 ryan

Oh yeah, we’ve hit that begging for more land point again. I was just doing some rearranging and I had to move my unemployment office. I didn’t have room. I don’t like storing things but I didn’t realize till then I was out of space

      • I agree . I have way too many houses in storage. It seems as though the last land purchase did not stretch far enough. Happy Tapping. RevJRO

  21. Also, so I just realized this post was from TOTBox and *not* Alissa…TOT, though my comment was directed toward Aaissa, I hope any and all babies surrounding you are also fine.

PS–I am also hopeful that the looooooong lull is just to bring us some cool new features. Like a ‘grouping’ function, where I can attach a lot of pieces/parts together and move it easily. C’mon EA, if Microsoft can do it, so can you….

  22. I’ve been at level 59 for about a year now so a new level with some new quests and items would be awesome! So even tho I’ve enjoyed the downtime to arrange some land and buildings purchase things that weren’t important before but now have the spare Springfield dollars to do so sprucing up my town! I think I will play TSTO until they remove it! New levels or not! Happy Tapping!! 👇👇

  23. Well, if the end is near, I hope they give us enough heads up to push that nuke button just once. In 3 years, I haven’t had the courage to, and I’m sure not going to start now.

Also, looking forward to the other half of your story. You can’t start a story of half-naked running through the streets and just leave it hanging (so to speak).

LOL, hope all is well with babies and real life, and even TSTO!

  24. sonicboiny834 ryan

    Amen

  25. We’ve been in near constant grind mode since… April/May of last year with Springfield Heights/Monorail/Tapball/haloween/Gorgefest (Thanksgiving)/Winter/Rocketry/BigRedwood. While I appreciate the slower pace, I’m starting to run out of money sinks to buy, got all the Building/Character combos, max leveled. At this point I’m logging in to keep my 15 day donut payoff rolling, remaxing springfield heights and the new buildings, and rotating my monorail workers.

I’d like to see a new level in a week or so.

  27. I agree wholeheartedly. As long as a revenue is being made the game will go on. You only have to look at the number of forums (yes there are others out there besides tstoaddicts) and the regular commentators on those sites to realise that the game makes a big income. Personally I have used this down time to 1. Get on with SH which is a time consuming aspect in itself, and 2. To accrue enough ingame cash and donuts to buy further land expansions to accommodate new stuff. I’ve only been playing a little over 1 year but have realised with each new event comes more content and the need for more land to place it. I now am getting to a stage where I can happily but chunks of land to accommodate the new stuff and make my Springfield better.

Honestly people, if there was new content each week we would have the same naysayers complaining that there was too much going on!!!!

  28. Andreas Kleanthous

Why would it end? They’re still making new episodes so we still have loads of characters to unlock, episode tie-ins, events(easter is in a few weeks), and my ultimate hope is that we’ll one day to get the ability to get a more zoomed in view. Like a third or first person view. I know it’s not that kinda game but, it would be cool! Plus my redwood is only on level 4…

  29. *takes off tin foil hat*
    I wasn’t panicking. Honest…!

  30. Since I just got to level 59 and bought Barney, of course it can’t end!
