Should I Spend Donuts On the Whacking Day Bundle?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Whack…ing…Day.  Whack…ing…Day. Whacking Day. Whacking Day! Whacking Day-Whacking Day-Whacking Day WHACKING DAY!!

The Whack is back jack!  As in Whacking Day is back in our Pocket-Sized Springfields!  After 3 years of begging EA, newer Tappers finally have their wish in a mini Whacking Day Event!  Well really a Whacking Day sale…but hey it’s your chance to get some of that Whacking Day swag you may have missed from way back in 2013!

While there’s loads of free Whacking Day items to get your whack on, you can see them in the rundown post here, there is one premium bundle looming large on the minds of many Tappers!  Now with that limited-time label I know it can be tempting to buy it right up because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Whacking Day Bundle to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down if you should add this bundle of all things slithery to your Springfield…

Leaves stores on Thursday May 12th, 2016…

I’m going to do this a little different and just go straight to my opinion.  I think the pros and cons pretty much weigh themselves with this one…

Final Thought:
Premium:
If you missed Whacking Day originally you may want to pick this up.  It’s several requested items with a great return on them (bonus %) for the cost.  However, buy it only because you like it (or you need the bonus %)…the items have no real practical purpose.  They won’t do anything in your town.  They’re just decorations.  Premium decorations and that’s in.  So get them if you like them, otherwise pass.

Freemium:
Here’s my take Freemium players….unless you need the bonus % (and most of you don’t) pass on this.  While 100 donuts for that nice 10+% bonus might seem tempting, the reality is these items aren’t anything spectacular and you’re better off spending the 100 donuts on Luke Stetson.
So unless you’re hell bent on getting these items, or you really really really need that bonus %, pass.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you I won several of these already, but I’ll be passing on the combo itself.  But whatever you decide just make sure you do so before it leaves our games on May 12th.

And there you have it, the details on the Whacking Day Bundle!

What are your thoughts on the Whacking Day Bundle?  Will you be picking it up?  Or did you already?  Where have you placed the items in your town?  Did you miss out on the original Whacking Day?  Were you excited to see it back?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. When they do stuff like this they take away the value of being a long time player. They should leave some things exclusive to those who were there from the beginning.

    • I have been a long time player since 2014! I am glad to have the set now. I think everyone should have a chance on getting any and all items. I did miss out on playing the event because I did not play back in 2013. You had that experience, so you should be happy with that. Also, people have to pay for missed items way more than use in game cash. That keeps the game going as well as you may know.

    • Isn’t the value of being a long-time player that you got to play this game for a long time? Does depriving others of things really enhance your enjoyment of them?

    • They did! You got to exclusively experience the event while newer players will not have that chance.

    • Eww, really! Now all the rabble will have all the same decorations as me, getting all of their noob cooties all over them. Might as well put em all in storage now that they don’t make me special anymore. Game ruined!

  2. Finally broke down and got the bundle. Love all the items, and right away it said I had Lumpy, but as someone else mentioned (either here or on open chat maybe) they couldn’t find Lumpy anywhere in their town, or inventory. Low and behold I had the same issue, couldn’t find him. Contacted EA, got the Call Me option, and its almost like they fixed the issue before calling me lol Found Lumpy at the Slaughter house sniffing the horse parts right as they called. lol Oh Lumpy 😀

  3. Hello tappers.

During the last Halloween event did the stump produce snakes? I seem to recall that several decorations/items may have popped out an event tapable, like some grave for zombies… Well, it would be another selling point.

  4. Bought it just for Lumpy; the rest was a nice bonus.

  5. I bought the bundle and then a couple additional rocks. Not because I really need the bonus percentage, but because I like some variety in my decorations. I wish things like rocks and tree stumps were as common as shrubs and flowers, but if my only option is to pay donuts for them, then I will.
(If I could have just bought them individually before buying the bundle, I would have done so. Didn’t care much about Lumpy or the practice snakes, but I wasn’t given the option before getting the bundle. Tricksy, EA.)

    • It’s too bad we couldn’t have gone in on a bundle together…I could have had Lump (and maybe the other snakes) and you could have had the decorating stuff, which I don’t really care about (or at least not for donuts).

    • What about that piece of debris with the tree stump? That’s pretty common.

  6. I only really wanted Lumpy so for me it wasn’t worth it and I saw some of the Act 3 items and would rather save the sprinklies! But for others this is a great buy for value!

  7. If you consider that one donut is value in 0.05% bonus because that’s what is cost the picket fence and that’s the cheapest thing that you can buy with donuts (1 donut) it means that for 125 donuts the average % of bonus would be 6.25% but they are giving you a lot more, so I think it really worth it

  8. I was on the fence about this one yesterday, then I read the comments in the Whacking Day post and was pretty much sold on buying it. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet, but will later today.

And a special thanks to Sandra! I’ve earned $60 through that QuickThoughts app since March. I’m saving up for a boatload of donuts, which shouldn’t take that long to earn the remainder. Woot for free donuts! 😀

    • Seriously? The quick thoughts app is legit?

      • Oh, absolutely! I’ve made about $50 or so in iTunes cards myself. (Just wish they didn’t have to apply tax to virtual currency purchases (which seems kind of dumb to me), because it kinda screws up trying to not use real cash to buy donuts, or at least makes it trickier/slower.)

      • It totally is! At first it felt like a complete waste of time, but then I earned my first $10, and less than a week later I’d earned $10 more. I’ve gotten $60 since mid-March. 😀

    • $60!? Could you be their dream shopper or something? LOL

    • I’m impressed with your patience…most people can wait that long and end up buying the donuts once they have 10 or 20 dollars worth saved up.

And you must be in a perfect demographic to be able to do $60 worth in such a short time! 🙂

      • I’m lucky, I guess. I watch just enough TV And happen to have small kiddos at home, so I seem to answer a fair amount of surveys. Although I get plenty of duds, too.

  9. I bought this right away. I couldn’t pass it up. I’ve always wanted Lumpy (and the pet snake) but thought I would never see them. It’s so satisfying to check off a character collection. 😀

  10. I’m thinking of buying this mostly for the bonus %. I’m at 94.20% at the moment and I’ve been trying to get at least 100, but as a freemium player, I find it difficult to do so with just in game cash.

  11. I’m torn. The bundle is nice, but all I want is Lumpy. I just bought Ninja Homer and the two other snakes, so why not round it out, right? The stump, log, and rocks will be great additions to my Wild West section (which I just now realized is on the east side of town). But what if Act III of Wild West has something really cool, like Queen of the Old West Grampa???

I may have to take a personal day to solve this dilemma… 😉

Sharing for people who likes to do the maths:

I have a 332.95% bonus from conformity and decorations.
    Today I bought a 24hrs xp multiplier (x5 = 500%) – 5 donuts
    That gives me 833.95% bonus on XP;

I Spent 115 million on rat traps trucks.
(selling them for more money using area select tool was very helpful)
That gave me 35 bonus rounds (x3 donuts)= 105 donuts

    • wow very nice!

    • I do this when I have 30 mil in game cash. I’m at approx a 490% bonus so that xp multiplier certainly helps. I usually only spend about 20 mil of my cash to make sure I always have some. With this and the occasional scratcher I can usually get most of the stuff I want. 😎 RachelS

    • Thanks for sharing! What kind of rounds are you referring to? Level ups? I was under the impression that there are no bonut rounds currently.

    • Amazing! But what kind of bonus rounds? Level ups?

    • Don’t you mean 832.95%? The first bonus rounds up, btw, depending on factors, then adding in the x5 would be more like 833%…..back to like you said.

  13. Do the speakers play Barry White? Because that would make this an instabuy! 😉

    • Don’t I wish! The speakers just fall over when you tap them.

      • I just love how the speakers call the snakes. I never knew they did something like that. I started playing not long after WD & would always wonder how/why the speakers were connected to the snakes when I saw them in my friend’s towns. What a nice surprise this was! 😎 RachelS

I want to go on record saying this has been the best update IMHO since whacking day. With stonecutters and superheroes coming in in second and third respectively. This has been an exciting and true to form addictive update. Thank you EA LOL

  15. Thank you for the posting; I was waiting on it.

If not for the many freemium Wailing Walls and Tennis Courts I’ve gotten in the past year to up my bonus %, I’d probably be all over this. If Lumpy were available separately, I might get him, but I think I’ll give this a pass for now.

  16. I’m freemium and I bought it. That’s crazy value! Can’t front on the income this provides.

  17. One word. .. Lumpy! !!!

  18. BraveElfgirl1994

Missed out on the original Wacking Day. So I bought 10 each of the freemium decorations. Thoughts? Did I buy too many or not enough?? How many did you guys get?

    • I got one each of the tents and 6 of the snake wind socks. 10 of each tent seems like a lot unless you’re using them to fill something else out. The snake decorations are cool though.

    • I bought quite a bit more, but I have more cash than I need and I’m always worried I won’t have enough of things, even though I’m pretty sure I’ve overbought on these and missy of them will sit in my inventory forever.

    • Maybe a tad too many, but hey its in game income, so its easy to make up again. I only bought one of each personally.

    • I bought about 70 of each of the freemium decos… Then again we hardly EVER get freemium decos anymore so I’m taking full advantage LOL.

    • I only bought one of each tent so far but I’ll probably pick up a few more for my Farmer’s Market/Woodstock area and possible future decorating wants. I got about 20 wind socks for the same reason and I just appreciate the interest the animation provides.

  19. You summed it up for me. Maybe if my bonus was lower I’d be more interested. But, it’s pretty high and I’ll pass. Plus I’m not really interested in Lumpy. There, I said it. Sorry Lumpy lovers. 🐍😃

    • Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat??? *gasp* But he ATE THE KIDS. It can’t really get more awesome!

    • I thought Lumpy was more interesting when I was a newer player but now that I have a substantial number of NPC’s in inventory it is kind of a Meh for me too. (Don’t hate the player, hate the game- ok, that doesn’t really apply as we all obviously LOVE the game. I was having a Simp7
moment there) I bought it for all the nature snake deco’s and will probably pick up few more individually as well.

  20. Lumpy was in my store yesterday morning and now he is gone! I have restarted, uninstalled and reinstalled, but it does not come back. Please help!

  21. I get it to 8.75% and not 10.75%? Or am I missing something? 🙂

    • Yea, I forgot the Snake Rocks in the breakdown. I’ve added them back in now. The rocks add 2%. I counted them in my total, just forgot to write them in the breakdown

  22. I feel like a crazy person because the math doesn’t seem to add up.

    Snake Speakers +2.5%
    Practice Snakes +.25% x 4 =1.0
    Snake Stump- +2.5%
    Hollow Snake Trunk +2.75%

That’s 8.75%…right? Did we miss one? Do the rocks pay out 2%?

    • Yes they Rocks are 2%. I just forgot to put the rocks completely in the breakdown list….notice they’re not there for donut price either.

  23. I got it. I was kind of surprised when I first started playing the game and found out Whacking Day wasn’t an annual thing so this was a nice way to get some of the items I wasn’t around for the first time. Plus, it’s a decent percentage bonus for the cost although I probably don’t really need it at this point since I’m over 190% now.

    • Have to agree with you there, was in the same mindset. Where Whacking Day is so prominent on the show (At least it makes it seem like an annual Springfield “holiday), the game would have it as an annual event also. Oh well, at least getting the items now 😀

    • I liked that they included in the dialogue that Lisa had tricked Homer into missing the last two years. So maybe it will be an annual thing now.

  24. Caved…brought Lumpy ♡

  25. I bought it bc i missed wacking day 3 years ago. So happy i have Lumpy now!! Wanted him for ages 🙋

  26. Coin toss on this.
The % bonus would be OK, (Don’t really need it though),
The items themselves are kind of nice.
I think EA has been most generous with the free donuts that they have been giving us, so I have a plentiful stash.
    Will decide to night.
The only downside to me is there is no playing character. That’s what I am most willing to spend donuts for.

  27. I jumped on it but have to admit, it really is a better bargain if you also pick up ninja Homer. Even without him though, it’s still a decent deal for Lumpy. I’ve wanted Lump pretty much since I started playing. So (without also grabbing ninja Homer) it’s like grabbing Lumpy and a 10% bonus for 40 additional donuts – which is a steal.

The extra decorations are small, but they’re also really unique looking and I’m glad to finally have the rock and stump in my Springfield. I’d actually love to pick up about a half dozen more of each for landscaping – but the individual prices are way too high.

  28. It ain’t Sunday, who cares who else has posted

    • …You want me to post? Sandra?

      • I didn’t understand the original post, to be honest, and don’t understand yours, either. So, I’ll let you deal with this one! 🙂

        • Punctuation by them might have helped, unless a rhetorical statement was being made. That is, I didn’t understand it either….so basing my reply on it succeeds in a second level of trouble understanding. If they ever reply then we’ll know.

  29. Essentially I see it as spending 125 donuts on Lumpy. He’s one of the npcs I really covet! I can’t see this coming back anytime soon either. Why couldn’t they have offered him separately grrrrr. Okay calm …I’ve still got another day to sleep on it. For me it’s the jump into premium again as I would have to buy the donuts. I did a scratcher and got six…Eughhh!

    • I am with you, I really want Lumpy but I don’t really care about the rest of this stuff and . On the other hand I have 124 donuts at the moment so I should be able to get 1 more in the next 2 day but still 125 for lumpy is kind of steep.

      • Whoa. I have 124 donuts too…. I was hoping to pick up the mine, but I think I will get this combo as soon as I get one more donut. Then I’ll be flat broke, LOL.

    • I agree. Now that I see he was originally available for 55 donuts, I’m even more sorry that he wasn’t offered that way again…I would have definitely splurged 55 donuts for him.

    • You know, I see it completely differently. I see it as 125 donuts for 3 buildings and a 10.75% boost. OK, they’re not buildings but decorations that pay – just as good, maybe even better. When I use the XP multiplier I get a donut for each million I spend, roughly. The payout and the multiplier will get my donuts back pretty quickly. Lumpy didn’t even enter into my calculations. In fact, if it weren’t for the speakers he’d have gone straight into storage.
Just offering a different view of things…

      • But when I but buildings, it’s usually to build my town, not for the cash. Your point is an interesting one though…every time I’ve made up my mind not to get this bundle (because I keep seeing it as 135 donuts just to get Lumpy, and no NPC, no matter how entertaining, it’s worth that), someone posts something that makes me start to consider it again.

  30. is Lumpy a npc or just a something that sits in the same place? i’ve only been playing since halloween of last year
