Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
It’s Halloween in our pocket-size Springfields! Yes that magical time of the year when our towns turn dark, our water becomes mucky and there are monsters everywhere to battle. And of course an all new event means all new twists and turns to make us all a little crazy….
Seeing lots of questions from you guys about the Monster Actors Guild (or MAG Points). How do you get them? What do they do? How do you get it started? Let’s take a look at all those questions and more as we break down the details of MAG points…
You have the WHOLE Event to Unlock Everything in the MAG Prize Track. So pace yourself..and don’t stress.
In a nutshell…MAG Points are similar to the players club from the Casino Event. It’s another aspect of of the event where collecting will earn you more currency (for crafting and prizes), unlock Trick-or-Treating tasks for kids and get and exclusive gate decoration (and skins for it)!
How Do I Earn MAG Points?
There are several different ways to earn MAG Points. You’ll earn them when you unlock prizes during each Act. They can also be earned when you craft prizes, but not every prize. Only some. And finally they can be earned when you buy certain premium items.
For Act 1….here’s what each prize pays out in MAG Points:
Remember you will NOT get the
until you’ve placed (and built if necessary) the items in your town.
Crafting items also earn MAG points, we’ll discuss that in the crafting post. (too much to outline here). But pay attention when crafting if you’re looking to earn MAG Points. Only some items will earn them, and the number that you can craft to earn them is limited. For example:
The Iron Wall earns 20 MAG Points when Placed, BUT you’ll only earn MAG points on the first 8 you craft. So pay attention to the box when crafting to make sure the item you’re looking to craft earns MAG points.
Also during Act one the following premium items pay out MAG Points…

Crazy Iguana Lady Bundle- 110 Donuts. 200
(when CCL is used, initally she goes into inventory)
The Island of Dr. Hibbert- 70 Donuts, 530
on Placement
Hellementary School- 90 Donuts, 175 ![]()
Halloween Party Walls- Pack of 10- 20 Donuts. (These Leave in 1 week, so on the 11th)
How Do I Start to Earn MAG Points? What Triggers it In my Game? I Don’t See the Panel in my Store?
As soon as you earn your first MAG Point, you’ll trigger it to start in your game (it’ll launch some dialogue explaining it and you’ll see the event panel popup for you). So either via earning a prize, crafting an item or buying a premium item…one of those will unlock the MAG prize track for you.
What Can I Win from the MAG points?
MAG Points is a cumulative total and you’ll need a total of 6,410
to earn everything you can from the Actor’s Guild. Note: Remember this runs for the whole event. So you don’t need to unlock everything immediately. Don’t stress about it, you’ve got 35+ days to earn it all…
Note: Event Currency means it’ll payout that act’s currency when you get there. So it’ll show Film Strips now, but that’ll change to Act 2 currency when we get there, and Act 3 when we get there.

Can I Unlock All of the MAG Items Without Spending Donuts for Premium Items?
Several of you were asking this question in the comments…and I’m happy to say yes you can. TSTO is a game, unlike some other freemium games, where you can earn/win everything available during an event with diligent frequent tapping.
As I mentioned above you’ll need 6,410
to earn all of the prizes offered in the MAG Prize track. From prizes alone, acts 1 through 3, you’ll earn over 4,700
as long as you unlock all of the prizes for each act. You’ll then need to earn an additional 1,700
. You can easily achieve this by crafting.
It won’t be easy, but you absolutely can earn enough
to unlock all of the prizes without spending donuts on premium items.
And that my friends is the basic info on the MAG Prize Track!
What are your thoughts on the MAG System? Excited to unlock all of the Trick-Or-Treating Characters? Think it’s an interesting way to earn more crafting/event currency? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

Bell Tower- 270
Count Burns’ Castle- 360
Space Marshmallow- 540

Dear Alissa, I am stuck. I do not know what to do. I just built Burn’s Mausoleum and received MAG points for it that gave me Ralph for Trick and Treating. When I click the MAG button where you can see your MAG points progression, it says on the top that I can now recruit 2 of my friends to the MAG society. I am not sure how to do this. Can you please explain? Many thanks in advance. PS: I have already found a while ago three characters (Witch, Bobrella and the Space Mutant) than can do event earning jobs in the MAG tower
Vampire Burns also does tasks in the Mag building.
Thanks a lot
Alissa can you answer this, I also have the same question? How do you recruit 2 friends to the MAG society?
As you go through the MAG track by earning MAG points (by crafting stuff, mostly), you unlock various things, including the ability to send additional characters trick-or-treating.
But the whole wording of the MAG messages and such is meant to be a satire on the way that Scientology works.
Hi, you are not stuck, just continue crafting and updating MAG levels. I think it’s a joke referring to a pyramid scam. You can’t actually recruit anyone in your game.
How many obols do you get from the small obol prize pack? I wasn’t paying attention to how many I had before I got it, but it seems like I didn’t have that many afterwards.
Seems to be 10
That’s depressing. I was hoping for a big boost towards the catacombs.
“…You can easily achieve this by crafting. It won’t be easy…”
This made me giggle… Like: “I’m so confused, is it easy or not!?!” lol
Is anybody else having a hard time getting odels? They dont seem to be dropping that much and i am only really earning them from trick or treating . Crafting is going to be very slow going
I’m having a hard time too. So far I can only craft maybe two fence pieces a day.
Same here been a couple days and I haven’t got much, and the 3rd prize in act 1 only gives you about 15 🙁
Absolutely, do not seem to be getting anywhere a hand full a day (I have very ickle hands) if I’m lucky
So EA did not considered premium kids on this year Halloween event… and I bought like 4 during 2016 for the Trick or Treat missions… hopefully they’ll consider premium characters on X-Mass event like in 2014 when you could send bunch of them.
Squeaky Voice Teen is premium and he can trick or treat..
He is premium, but only earns 2 just like everyone else. Or at least that’s what I’m seeing in my town.
Question: how will you know if you maxed on the crafting items for the MAG points (ie. you’ve already bought 8 of the 8?).. it used to tell when you were circled on the item, how many you already had (at least I thought?) now I can’t tell.. there is the “+/-” symbols to purchase multiples at one time but no tally of your totals crafted for each.. am I missing it?
It says “All MAG Points achieved for this item!”
There will be a ALL MAG Points achieved for this item! statement in place of the First 8 award 20 MAG Points on placement.
You have to watch very carefully.
JUBIE DOG & SANDRA – Thanks very much for posting the response to KIM’s question. I came here precisely for that answer myself. I knew this lovely community would not let me down😎. Have a chocolate 🍩 on me…..💜X
Mmmmm…..donut…
Are any other premium kids going to tag along like squeaky?
Over the course of the ENTIRE update…if you get all of the levels of the MAG point levels done, you will have access to Milhouse, Martin, Nelson, Ralph, Rod, Todd and Dolph.
Hellementary more donuts but less mag points than hibberts island??
Maybe the will be covered in the Crafting post, but doesn’t the the Iron wall and Gargoyle wall give the best payout of MAG Points per Obol spent? And that’s probably why there is a limit on how many you can craft until they stop awarding MAG Points.
i’d have to analyze it…i haven’t had enough coffee for that yet this morning 😉
For what I’ve unlocked, yes, one for one. So far everything else costs a few more obols than the number of MAG points you get. So far I’m focused on get 8 of each wall. I’m hoping when you hit the limit that the crafting screen will indicate that there are no more MAG points to be had.
It will.
Alissa, when will the crafting post be put up? I’ve seen it mentioned in a bunch of other posts and comments, but can’t find it anywhere (maybe I missed it?).
Here’s the link to the crafting post: https://tstoaddicts.com/2016/10/06/halloween-2016-event-101-monster-actors-guild-mag-points/
No that’s not crafting…i didn’t do one yet. This is the link to the same post you’re commenting on…
Ooops, my bad! (And sorry to HLH, too!) I did notice, after the fact, that I had posted a link to the post I was on, but I did think that this was the crafting post. On a more careful re-read, I can see how wrong I was. Although it does reference crafting, it isn’t really all about that.
I’ll try to be more careful in the future when I’m trying to be helpful, so I won’t be “antihelpful,” lol!
Wait – huh? The post that you just made this comment on IS the crafting post! Did you read it?
When I made my previous response with the link, I hadn’t noticed that you were commenting within that very post! (I was reading your comment via email and just tattooed on the Reply button and hadn’t noticed exactly where it took me.)
This post is NOT the crafting post. This post is about MAG points. I haven’t written the crafting post yet. Therefore, at the moment, the crafting post doesn’t exist.
Yup, I screwed up. Have posted apologies in another comment, but I’ll just say “I’m sorry” again here, especially to HLH. 🙁
apology accepted. 🙂
I’m trying for before Act 1 ends, but they keep adding stuff to the game lol. So worst case right after Act 2 starts.
Fortunately, there’s no rush to craft. 🙂
Alissa, thank you very much. Also, I appreciate how busy you are as a new mom, with your work, and with this amazing site. (I don’t know when you find time to sleep!) I’ll just keep an eye out for the crafting post and save up until then. Thanks again!
🙂

Thanks for that info! I was saving up to get a casket, but now I’m thinking I should max out on bats first.
(That second sentence would be so weird out of context, lol!)
It’s still being updated, FWIW. The best bang-for-your-Obol for the ‘early prizes’ were the Iron Wall and the Gargoyle Wall (with a 1:1 MAG-Points-to-Obols ratio), with linearly diminishing returns after that… until Level 9 unlocks the Hanging Streetlamp, which is another craftable with a 1:1 MAG-Points-to-Obols ratio. 🙂
Yup – just bought my first street lamp today! 🙂
Earlier in this thread Jen posted
“.. when you’re battling the monsters that some of them lets you use more than one character to battle one monster and you get extra films! So instead of 150 films, you get 210.”
Could you explain how this works Alissa? After the timer glitch was fixed on the monster fights I was able to play 4 fights at once, then only 3 at a time, and now consistently only 2 at a time. I did notice on this current fight that there’s one new type of monster fighting and one of the original type monsters, but I’ve not seen an option for more than one fighter to fight one monster. Thanks for clarifying this.
I’ll have a post up a little later today detailing it…
But there’s a monster that lets you use 2 characters at once to fight it. It’s random when it appears.
Okay, thanks for clarifying that, Alissa.
I love the way it works like the Casino event – LOVED the casino event.
I noticed that all of the NEW crafting items pay out MAG points. Right? Is that worth noting for an easy way to work out which items do give out MAG points?
Yea, it’s the new ones. But as I mentioned, I’ll cover it in the crafting post. Too much to name in this post.
I’m quite far down the MAG path but the rewards are all pretty meh. The event rewards are decent in Act one but MAG rewards, which take three events to complete, seem unworthy of all the effort. Especially as most of us have copious amounts of fence from other events!
AND this is from someone who loves Halloween and everything gothic!
Hi
I can fight my demons now! Pfuiiii! However even when it says 3 or four, when ever I reach 2 I cannot send anymore to fight. Has anyone has the same problem? It just makes it harder on me and having to play in the middle of the night to keep within limits.
I am having problems too. In my case I am not “generating” monsters to fight at the proper rate. Ugh, as this is a prime currency generator.
I had been considering getting mostly premium kids with my donuts, and was so glad to know it would have been a waste for this event.
Instead, before the event started, I got Manjula. 🙂
😱 I foolishly didn’t notice the limited quantity to earn MAGs, I have crafted 6 spooky houses 😱 No wonder I’m not progressing enough. D’oh!
The whole MAG thing has a number of not-very-subtle jabs at an oft-reviled church that is well-known to be heavily involved in the film industey.
I know what church/terroristic organisation you mean, but when are those jabs?
I think this might be an example:
https://imgur.com/gallery/NMrWb
Ah yes, that makes sense. Thanks!
Is it better to save the oobols and use them to directly upgrade the construction yard, or to spend them on crafting things I don’t want, or don’t need because I already have them? There are several things in the craft track that are recycled, like the bramble hedges, spooky houses, and scary groves.
If there’s nothing left craft that earns MAG points either, it probably is cheapest. Just remember, though, that things could change in the future. I personally always craft equal amounts of everything, unless there’s something like wailing walls last year that is irresistible, because who knows what I may want to create down the track.
Spend them on crafting things that give you MAG points.
When we unlock the medival gate how big is it? What does it enclose? How many pieces is it? Is it just a single gate?
Goin’ out on a limb here, but my guess is that it’s intended to go with the various craftable fences.
I really love this website! Not sure if this was mentioned but I noticed that when you’re battling the monsters that some of them lets you use more than one character to battle one monster and you get extra films! So instead of 150 films, you get 210.
I noticed it too, there was a yellow monster instead of the blue one, which let me use two characters to fight it. But I only encountered it once, so I don’t have more info.
Could you guys do a should I buy on the CCL and her house (not with the swamp)?
Scheduled for tomorrow morning.
What’s this about a swamp?
Check the post in the morning.
Hey there! Just a quick thing I noticed that I didn’t see in any of the posts here. There are (at least) 4 hidden jobs you can do that generate event currency that aren’t accessible from the event menus.
“Set Up Training Exercises” is a 4 hour task that generated 50 film strips, that appeared on: Dracula Skin Burns, Space Mutant, Boobarella, and Suzanne the Witch. I had to manually click and assign the task, and they head to the mag offices for 4 hours. It might be available on more Halloween characters/skins, I only have about 90% of them.
Also, if these ARE on a menu (like trick or treating is) I’d love to know about it because that’d make things a lot easier. 🙂
Yes, they’re covered in our question corner post which you can find here
http://tstoaddicts.com/2016/10/05/addicts-question-corner-halloween-act-1-glitch-round-up/
Perhaps it’s a good idea to emphasize again (like you did in an earlier post about crafting) that it’s not necessary or even prudent to spend cuurency just to level up the forge using the green button in the top right. I Know that some people (myself included!) accidentally used currency to upgrade the 3D printer instead of using it to craft ánd gain the upgrade benefit in the process.
Yup, and I’ll bold it when I do the crafting post 🙂
It’s SO much like the Casino event, that “the following premium items pay our Club Card Points” — oops! 😉
I dunno what you’re talking about…i see nothing 😉
It’s a cool system though, happy to have it back (I sort of expected it to make a return at some point)
Awesome write-up.
The event and the Addicts are fantastic!
Thank You as always.
: )
Side question:
I look forward to every THOH event to use my Bad Dream House. Can’t find any character to light it up this year. I think it used to be Willie.
Does anyone know who it is this year? ( and not the rubberbuggybumper babysitter lady )
Thanks for the help…….
Dave
Haven’t seen it yet. May happen later in the update.
I hope so soon….was also looking foward to it lighting up all cool!!!!
Do you have the Wise guy from the Googolplex? Have him do the 12 hour plumbing task when he is standing in front of the bad dreams house. I had to store the Googolplex, then place it next to the bad dreams house. You can put back after he is on his task.
thanks for the tip. he’ll be checking the plumbing there forever
Wise Guy Raphael has a 12 hour task ‘Check the Plumbing’ that seems to use the nearest residential building – which includes the Bad Dream House! It’s simply a matter of getting the character close enough… I managed to do this by storing the Googolplex and placing it in my Halloween area (you can always move the building later without storing it).
I just tried this and it works. But come on EA – What happened to “sleep in the bad dream house” task that was so easy. Light it up and make it happen like the Halloween past. Everyone enjoys it! Pleeeease…
Both the Sarcastic Guy and Babysitter bandit. Sarcastic guy can check plumbing for 10 hours, babysitter bandit robviously a house for 24 hours but they have to be right next to it when you start the task. Babysitter bandit has been there exclusively in my town for almost a year now
I have mine lite up with the baby sitter. If you can place her near the bad dream house and then send her to rob a house (her 24hr task) she’ll go into the bad dream house and it’ll do its thing.
Are the Halloween skins going to stay after the event?
Yes.
What you guys think of Doc Hibbert’s Island? Worth it or not? I want it so badly, that episode was one of the very first ones i watched and i remember it dearly, and it gives nice MAG points, I really think I’m going buy this XD
It doesn’t do anything special except provide a 2.5% bonus, it’s really just a nice decoration for the water area. So I’d say that if you like it – especially if it holds some sort of special significance for you – then get it, for sure 🙂
Just a deco with animated fire eyes. Depends how donut rich you are..
http://imgur.com/QA9JVri
I got it and it immediately unlocked (among other things) three additional TOT-ing kids. So I’m earning 90 additional currency and 6 additional obol every four hours from the get go (or 360 currency and 24 obol with four logins a day, which you’ll have to do anyways). Since this event is doable but very tight without any premium items it takes the pressure off a bit, at least in the beginning. Plus it looks cool. A much better investment than eg. the card that doubles rewards for friends actions, since that will net you 450 currency daily but little obol — which is harder to get, and more valuable since that also allows you to craft quicker, and thus speed up your MAG points… So my advice: if you like it, and even more so because it has special meaning to you (what a wonderful memory to have of your first episode!), get it now — IMO the sooner the better since you’ll start earning extra right away. I hope this helps you in your decision… 😀
I just wish EA would give us another strip of ocean. It is getting too crowded along the shoreline.
I want to want it, but it’s just too out-of-scale for me.
Put it in a corner away from anything else so it looks like it’s in the distance.
I didn’t realize the Crazy Cat Lady gave Mag points when I bought her this morning. I was pleasantly surprised when Martin’s Trick-or-treat job immediately unlocked.
I’m a little disappointed that not all of the kids will be able to trick-or-treat this year, especially the premium ones (other than Squeaky Voiced Teen). I have almost all of the kids now (most from the old mystery box), and it would be nice to get some benefit from them.
I know! After last year’s THOH event where I had barely any kids, I have been waiting for an event where I will be able to use all of the youngsters that I have amassed since then, just like people were able to in that event. Unfortunately, not this year 🙁
is it possible to unlock any other premium character TOT jobs besides squeaky voice teen?
If you get the nightmare pile out of the mystery jack o lantern, that can be used for one character to be in costume….once you go through the quest line to unlock the costumes that is.
I have it but keep forgetting to use it… any film or coins for the tasks There?
Honestly haven’t used it myself, still have to do the quests to unlock the costumes, so haven’t bothered, Bart has been busy with the event.
Oh, I’m super excited to unlock all the costumes for the kids! Trick or treating kids in the game is one of the best parts of Halloween in TSTO for me.
And as for the MAG office, I like that it and crafting are stress free parts of the event, at least for me.
