Update: Just got home and had a chance to pull the files. This is a PERMANENT addition to the game (Shelbyville stuff), so it’s sticking around for awhile.
Just saw 2 returning items in our stores as well. The Snow Globe for 225 Donuts with a 100 Donut Rebate, net 125. Offering 750 
. And the Ice Palace with Ice Princess Martin for 120 Donuts, with a 40 Donut Rebate, net 80 Donuts. Offering 480. Links will take you to previous SIB posts, my opinion on both remains unchanged, even with the price drop. Snow Globe is over priced and HUGE. Ice Palace is HUGE, ok price if you’re a fan of Disney.

Well looks like EA found a way to get players to spend cash in the game…
When you log into your towns today you’ll see this message:
If you go to the part of your game where you actually pay cash for donuts, you’ll see that various donut packages offer an item from Lemon of Troy when you purchase the package:
Looks like EA is finally giving something to players who spend cash on donuts and forcing others to pay up if they want the content.
I know this is going to tick a lot of you off, but this is EA’s way of making money since they’re giving away so many donuts. I expect to see more things like this in the future…
Once decent thing is the characters are at the lower price points. (Note these are US prices. Your prices will be adjusted based on your country. However, these are the base prices EA charges. Any increase in pricing is because of taxes charged via Apple or Google). Here’s a breakdown..and with a look at what might be coming next…
–Shelbyville Manhattan- Stack of 60 Donuts. FULL Character, with tasks
Ned’s Winnebago- Tray of 132 Donuts
–Jebediah Springfield- Truckload of 300 Donuts FULL Character, with tasks
Shelbyville Car Impound Lot- Store Full of 900 Donuts
–Shelbyville Manhattan Statue- Boatload of 2400 Donuts
I will have details on these items up later, BUT I won’t be doing a Should I Buy. This is more about what you can afford to buy than anything else. Personally I’m just happy gift cards are on sale at Costco right now.
Oh and one other thing..if you scroll through your Character Collections you’ll notice one at the very end, it’s new…
I think you’ll all be pleasantly surprised at what you’ll find inside this collection…

OK so the statue gives 10% extra money… useless but got to admit I love the statue…. not 100 dollars much though and considering I’ve played from nearly the start… I have too much money right now.. But I admit I like the statue.
I assume Ned’s Winnebago add’s a % but not a job… but might get it… Does the Impound Lot add any jobs? cause if it’s just a lot I can collect money from definitely not worth it..
……and in other news, ‘Satan’s Anvil’ was sitting in storage with 5% bonus attached to it. Dusted it off & found a place for it…..It always pays to try & complete the freebie prize track. Happy dayz…..☃🎄……💜X

Thanks for the post. I got the initial message, but nothing showed up in my store. After a hard close, the doughnut offers appeared.
I haven’t bought doughnuts in months, but I splurged on the truckload of doughnuts to get Jebediah Springfield. Buy 300 doughnuts, get a free character? Deal!
With the extra doughnuts, I purchased Hank Scorpio and the Volcano Lair, which I have wanted for a long time. Up popped three quests! Just in time, too, because I finished the Christmas/Pagan quest line this morning.
They did it! Got more money from me. Good job. I was so excited by the two characters that when I saw my donut increase, I momentarily forgot that they came with the characters! Bonus!!!!

Now that the game has updated, my quest for the ice castle is still displayed? Where you able to get rid of yours without buying the castle?
Ok, this would be nice, but I just noticed that the prices were readjusted, at least here in my country. We used to buy 132 donuts for 19.99. Now the price for these donuts is 36.99. Yikes.

As the post above says…the value listed on my screenshots above is the value the items cost (when converted to your country’s dollar)..anything over that isn’t from EA it’s from iTunes or Google Play and their new taxing policy. EA does not get money from that price increase, that’s all Apple and Google.

Got some free iTunes dollars from company health insurance incentives. Been waiting for some kind of Christmas special price for donuts. Since this has now hit, should we assume there won’t be any reduced price for donuts this season? Or does that usually come the day after Christmas? (This is my first year playing.) Thanks.

I invested in Shelbyville Manhattan + 60 Donuts. Mainly because there is hardly anything new in this event, only tons of stuff that has been around my town for years. Starting to get weary of the “limited time offer” repeats…
Well, nice try, but no. I’ve already spent quite a lot of money on this game (truckload twice, some smaller packs and several scratchers including platinum ones) and spend them only on the stuff that I really want after contemplating a bit, they are adequately rebated or if they are truly iconic stuff.
With all the donut earning options lately, my current donut amount is currently still around 1400 after having purchased the last boatload in February this year. I use them up very slowly despite buying one or two items per month.
That said, I couldn’t resist spending money on the 60-donut pack which seems like the best offer with a full premium character for a limited amount of money. The decorations with most other packs are kinda “meh” in my opinion, anyway.

That’s true but now I must speak opposite. Dam EA. Now they’ll be character’s and item’s I can’t ever get cause I can’t afford to put money in Tapped Out.
I had hopes that I would become a completionist, eventually. Those dreams have been crushed.
Rather than venting my frustration, I will channel my energy and in my free time focus on becoming a fremium completionist !

In a way Christmas came early. I finally got the Ice Palace and Princess Martin, but I had to buy donuts. At least I got two new characters, but I can’t bring myself to spend more. I wish more of the event prizes where characters and not decorations, but the wicker man is pretty sweet, and the dialogue only makes it better!
Well, I wanted to spend $50, but I guess if they’d rather I just spend $25… 😜

I’m very unhappy with this. First, they make it possible to farm doughnuts, which makes the cash you get from doing tasks pretty much worthless. I fear we are seeing the same thing happening to doughnuts: to get new characters, you must pay RL money to buy doughnuts that will become increasingly worthless.
I don’t know if I will purchase Donuts, but I am interested in the “Homer the Heretic Collection” 😀
The Snow Globe just became my new favourite thing in the game. Looking forward to having all eligible characters available for it tomorrow. Just love the look of it, some of the best animation in the game IMO and it has the only animated task for Santa’s Little Helper. Happy to spend the donuts on it.
As for the promo items with donut purchases… ok. Not for me, but nice to reward the premium players. There are still a bunch of premium characters and buildings that I’ve yet to buy, and it will take a long time to earn the donuts for them. Won’t start to feel I’m missing out on these new items until I reach that point. Until then I’m filing them under “really expensive premium items I won’t be buying anytime soon, oh well.”
Re Martin and the ice palace task, pretty sure that’s a mistake. I’d wait for a patch if you’re affected.

I held on to my google play store gift cards till last night & bought a boatload. contacted ea & they said to try & get a refund from google so I could repurchase the donuts. not worth the trouble
Tap the “Get More” button on the bottom left, next to your donut balance. When I first got the update, the only option I had was the waste-of-money dozen, (that’s the only package I’ve never purchased.) After a hard restart, I got all the options once I hit the “Get More” button.
Am I mistaken that this is the first time we’ve been offered a second chance at Gil deals? I was delighted to get the snow globe at a discount, it was a difficult decision to pass when it was offered, but it was too overpriced.

The Ghost Pirate Airship and Sepulchre of Evil were both originally Gil deals, both offered for a lower price this past Halloween. Not sure if there are other examples.

I’m 90% freemium, so I went ahead with the Jebadiah option. May as well pay AE a little scratch for the game I’ve been enjoying (mostly) for free.

The princess nerd part two won’t let you complete it if you already have ice princess Martin but don’t have the ice castle. Unless you buy the ice castle. Which is so not worth it. Hope they either give it to players for free that already have ice princess Martin or allow you to skip the quest.

The ice castle will timeout in a little over 11 days. The task will probably disappear after the castle timer counts down to zero.

I am suffering from the same fate. My first “orphaned” EA task after over 3 1/2 years I’ll never complete, with Martin permanently stuck in my task list as I will never afford the Ice Palace being purely freemium.

This. I am annoyed because I won’t spend 80 doughnuts on the building alone and now I have an open quest sitting there.
I won’t be buying more doughnuts. I’ve already spent so much money in this game. If these “bonus items” had been there from when I started this game (almost 4 years ago) I would have already have at least 3 of the “bonuses “. So, sorry EA, you will not get any cash from me.
This offer hasn’t shown up in my game. When I go to the currency tab all that’s available is buying in game cash with donuts and buying a dozen donuts for $1.99. Am I doing something wrong?
