Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
Merry Christmas Eve and Happy First Night (almost) of Hanukkah! Busy weekend!
Well it’s finally here…Christmas Eve! And that means Santa’s coming…tonight! Woohoo!
I know many of you will be spending today with your families or doing last minute shopping…so I thought it’d be a perfect time for a Christmas Eve Open Thread!
Chat about the event, Snowsuit Maggie joining our games, your Christmas plans…or anything else you can think of! Just no Add me requests…those should go here. And as always just keep it PG.
Merry Christmas Eve!
P.S. I’ll be spending the day with my in-laws out of state, so I’ll try to moderate when I can…my apologies for any delays.
P.P.S. If you need help with Act 2 of the event, most of the info can be found on our Winter 2016 Page. So check that out to see if your question has already been answered 🙂
First…let me start by saying that Alissa isn’t aware of this post. I’m sneaking it in, and hope that you all understand why by the end of what I am going to write here.
After what has clearly been one of the most contentious years in many decades, I think we are all breathing a slight sigh of relief that at least during the next few days, no matter how or what you celebrate this time of year, can be yours to embrace and savor. I personally, love the Christmas season. At the age of of almost 63 (on New Year’s Day), it is absolutely impossible to target any single Christmas memory as “the best ever.” Choosing a favorite Simpson’s Christmas episode is difficult enough…and there are only a handful of them.
What I do know, is that my favorite two movies this time of year, both of which we watch faithfully with the kids every Christmas Eve, are “It’s a Wonderful LIfe” and the Goerge C. Scott version of “A Christmas Carol.” For me, the reason they resonate so strongly, is that they are both stories of men gone astray, and then finding salvation and a second chance for redemption.
I can honestly say that I have had far more second chances in life than any man deserves. But, part of that gift is understanding when one has been handed to you, and knowing to appreciate it.
I had exactly one of those “Chances for Redemption” this year…
Merry Christmas Eve, Happy Hanukkah and Happy Life Day everyone!
Feel free to insert Festivus (yesterday) or Kwanzaa (December 26th) or Solstice (Dec 21) or whatever you celebrate. If you’re not a big fan of holidays or religiosity, Happy Saturday. Wookiee popping by with the gift of another episode recap for y’all. While it’s a little late, I figured covering the latest Simpsons Christmas episode closer to Christmas was appropriate. One of the many features we like to have on this site is recaps of new Simpsons episodes for all our friends who can’t watch them immediately or like our silly reviews of them. I love when there are new episodes of the Best. Show. Ever. on TV and it’s my privilege to not only watch new episodes, which I would do with or without this awesome site, but then break them down for all of you. I stuck to the stream of consciousness format for this. Basically I watch the episode once for my enjoyment and then a couple more times slowly to catch as much as I could while jotting down notes. Without further ado… here’s my thoughts on Season 28, Episode 10: “The Nightmare After Krustmas.”
