Well it’s finally here…Christmas Eve! And that means Santa’s coming…tonight! Woohoo!
I know many of you will be spending today with your families or doing last minute shopping…so I thought it’d be a perfect time for a Christmas Eve Open Thread!

I’m enjoying my morning helping toys together with the help of my three year old, who’s super excited that santas coming this year. Now I’m off to cook roast on a 38C day.
Merry Christmas to all and your families. To all the people out there missing loved ones gone, I hope you find some peace and happiness tomorrow or now to my friends in various countries. This is a tough season for us also, lots of changes and losses last year. Out of darkness comes light, my dear friend I’d lost touch with back in my life. Can’t let end of year go by without saying how awesome the puppies were/are. Truly a God sent distraction to Chewfred & I. Some of you know we (Chewfred) kept a lil girl puppy “Mia” all two 1/2 pounds trying to run the house.
Alissa so happy you posted tonight, hoping you take much deserved time off with your family. To repeat my message to you from last year, enjoy Princess Riley cherish these moments they grow up so fast, nothing not even us addicts should pull you away from your family. Hoping you are loving your new home.
To all my friends a very special happy holiday to you, no matter what you celebrate. To my friends suffering special wishes, I know this can be difficult. To my friends happy and with family, have a ball!
I have my part of Christmas dinner completed and a nice pork roast cooking for tonight. Tonight just the three of us humans and all doggies for a quiet dinner as I suffer through yet another 49er game.

I’m growing curious about Little Lisa’s Recycling Plant, does it still help with railyard tasks? Does it accumulate all the time or only when railyard tasks are active?
keeps going in my game adds 450 every 4 hours
If you collect ‘blueprints” from the recycling plant all week (starting Tuesday), it will contribute almost half of what you need to earn the level 5 truck (with 3 rails and donuts) by the following Monday. Then you only have to earn the other half of the “blueprints” with recycling on Mondays, and the whole thing starts over on Tuesday.

Merry Christmas and God Bless everyone.. I hope that Riley gets all her little heart desires and then some. Treasure these times because they grow up so so fast. It seems like yesterday my son was that little and seeing the wonder and amazement in his eyes and the biggest smiles and gratefulness at Christmas time. Now hes 30 and married to his childhood sweetheart. He and his wife just came to visit me for a couple of hours (Now I the grateful one and smiling just for some company even if its only for a couple of hours) i still miss him not being home. It was him and myself for alot of years. Now im alone. But the memories will always be there. So once again God bless everyone at this magical time of the year.
Merry Christmas Everyone! I’m home now from laying around on the beach since October, we’re getting dumped on with snow here in British Columbia. Time to get the skis ready to go but first I’ll get my body used to the colder temperatures.
Calvin, I’m so sorry your mother passed away a month ago….it’s never easy losing a parent or anyone for that matter. When I read that you had mended your relationship my eyes watered, my brother mended his relationship with our Mother before she passed and reading your post brought back those memories. Cherish the time you spent with your Mother before she passed, it should give you peace. Enjoy Costa Rica, we just got back from the Dominican. We went in October and had a beautiful time there.
I just got Maggie’s snowsuit this morning, now to relax and enjoy the holiday season….
Alissa I’m sure this Christmas will be even more exciting, Riley is growing so much and thank you for sharing her beautiful picture!

My Mom died on November 23rd, the day before Thanksgiving in the States, so this holiday season hasn’t been particularly festive. It’s bizarre that Mom has been gone for a month. I miss her so much. Luckily, my husband and I had planned a vacation to Costa Rica months ago so I can at least be distracted with being here. Take a minute to hug someone and tell them you love them. Call your Mom or Dad or Grandma or anyone and tell them you love them. Make amends with someone because someday it will be too late. I’m so fortunate I had the chance to mend my relationship with my Mom. The last time I saw her was the evening of November 20th. When I was leaving I leaned over her bed, hugged her as tight as her tiny cancer-riddled body could handle, kissed her on the forehead and told her I loved her and the last words I heard her say was “I love you too.” I would give 10 years off my life to be able to hug my Mom again and tell her I love one more time. Merry Christmas everyone. Be grateful for your blessings, no matter how small, and be nice to each other. -Calvin

So sorry for your loss. 🙁 My mom is my best friend and I can’t imagine a world without her. I’m on the phone with her right now (she’s recounting the latest episode of Top Chef, lol) and I’ll be sure to tell her I love her (as I usually do) before I hang up.
I’m so sorry. Hope you manage to have a good Christmas. My Mom’s been gone 3 Christmas’s I agree wish I could wish her one more. I still do, I go out at night and send her wishes while I star gaze. It does get easier in time, but as far as my feelings it never quite goes away, but I remember the good times with people that aren’t here.Take care of yourself allow your self to smile, sure your Mom would love to see you happy!

What an adorable picture of Riley! I hope everyone has a happy/merry and peaceful whatever holiday you celebrate. Tonight is the first night of Chanukah. Is it wrong that the main gift I want is for Rabbi K to show up in our SFs tomorrow? I guess he probably won’t show up on Chirstmas day, but I think he would make a fine gift no matter what you do or don’t celebrate. Sigh. At least it appears that we might get him sometime soon. Again, wishing everyone a joyous holiday filled with precious time spent with loved ones. For those of you who have lost loved ones, I hope their memories can bring you more smiles than tears.

Today we are going to lunch with my mom. It is hee 40th wedding anniversary this weekend and my dad has to work out of town. We are also celebrating Hanukkah with her. At night we go to church for my mother in law. Then we got to her house after ward for Christmas Eve dinner. We also have a friend stopping by in between this two events. At some point we need to find time to build my son’s train table without him noticing. So hope your little guy naps today. I love the family aspect of Christmas but I will be super glad when all of the holiday traffic and other holiday related hassles end on Monday. It is supposed to be 60 degrees here in Kansas tomorrow so I’m excited to go for a walk in the woods if we have time 🙂 every other family seems to be disappointed by the lack of snow but I’m hella excited for a spring type day. Happy holidays all. Hope your weekend is amazing in whatever form it takes 🙂

Yep 🙂 kc/Lawrence/Topeka etc all have great wooded areas with trails. The flat part of Kansas that people think of is more by Goodland.
I drove through once and don’t remember trees but it was really late. I guess I’m originally from South Dakota and there are wooded parts you can walk in. Not many but they’re there.
