Should I Spend Donuts On Gil’s Jay G Deal?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The snow may be gone but the party’s just getting started!  Gil arrived in Springfield a couple of days ago with an all new Phatsby of a deal!  Premium…of course.

Of course with that limited-time label it can be tempting to buy everything that looks as awesome as this because it’ll be gone soon.  But don’t sweat it!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth those donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Jay G’s Gil deal to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this faith healer to your Springfield…

2017-01-18-20-16-57

Combo Characters: Jay G and Goosius
Combo Decoration/Buildings:
Jay G’s Mansion and Pool
Donut Price: 225 Dounts
Earns: Mansion earns Earns $300, 30xp/12hrs.  Pool earns 2.25% bonus on all cash and XP.
Size: 12×18 Mansion and Pool (each)
Conform-O-Meter:
 Mansion : Indolence +20, Pool: Vanity +200

Leaves Stores January 25th

Pros
-Mansion is a unique building with a LOT of attention to detail. Looks awesome
-Comes with two characters.  One with a full set of tasks and the other’s an NPC.
-Pool offers a decent bonus %, considering everything else you get with the combo (for the donuts spent)
-Jay G has some fun tasks, one of which involves Goosius

Cons
-Not voiced
-Still a pricey donut offer
-Mansion and the pool are both MASSIVE in side.  You’ll need a lot of open space to place them.

Final Thought
Premium:
I like this one.  You get a lot in this bundles for the donuts.  Do I wish it was cheaper?  Yes. 225 donuts is a steep price to pay for a 1 off character.  BUT the Mansion design (and the pool) is a decent trade off.  I’d say if you’re a premium player consider picking this one up.

Freemium:
The one downside with this combo (Aside from the price) is that Jay G is a one off character.  So Freemium players, if you have a ton of donuts at the ready you may want to consider this one.  But if you’re saving up for a classic character already in the store or one that may hit with the next event…pass.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would or wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you as a premium player, I picked him up almost immediately. Just remember this is limited time , and will be leaving our stores next week.  So be sure to make your final decision before he’s gone from our games for good. (

Here’s a look at his tasks.

Jay G’s Permanent Tasks:

Task Length  Earns Location
Visit His Horticulturalist 1hr $105, 26xp Jay G’s Mansion

Buy Local Businesses 8hrs $420, 105xp Jay G’s Mansion
Make It Rain 12hrs $600, 150xp Outdoor/Visual
Feed Goosius 24hrs $1,000, 225xp Outdoor/Visual

  1. Passed like the Ep but it’s a rip off
Me well I’m gonna wait for it to return for a discount they always do
At some point and if it don’t who cares I would never pay that much
For a one off after all he ain’t Hank Scorpio
    I’d rather get Herb

  2. I got it because of Baz Luhrmann.

  3. I really wish EA would list what’s being offered in a Gil Deal! You definitely canNOT always tell what you’re getting just from an image. For instance, with this particular deal, if I didn’t visit this website, I’d have no clue that the Pool & Mansion are, in fact, separate ‘buildings’, nor know if the Goose was a PC, a NPC, or a Deco! I mean, even just knowing that some part of the bundle gives a Bonus % & how much $$ & XP it generates per xx hour would be helpful! Is this information there, but hiding? I would expect to have it pop up when you tap it, like with any other item in the Store, but that doesn’t happen on my (Android) phone. 😢

Having said that, I *do* really like this bundle (even though I haven’t seen the episode it’s from) and it’s actually NOT that pricey compared to other Gil Deals, considering what comes with it! I may splurge & buy a few Donuts to get enough to buy it. Or at least a few Golden Scratchers & have my fingers crossed while scratching them! 😄I got 168 donuts from 4 tickets during the Winter Event, which enabled me to get Rabbi K…perhaps lightening will strike twice? 😉

  4. I might hold off on this deal when it could return again with a rebate like with the giant snow globe from the winter event, though 225 donuts for 2 characters, a building and a decoration is a decent price for a gil deal because he offered some decorations for the same price in the past.

  5. I think I’m gonna gamble and say they’ll offer this again down the road and it’ll be a better deal. Seems to be the case lately with older stuff you may have missed out on.

  6. Anybody else get a small update this morning? (only about 7gb)…now my entry screen is solid green with just “The Simpsons” header…no graphics or sky finger…weird…

  7. I collect and buy donuts. I have every character offered in the last three years of playing. Every character has at least one job that is fun. When updates come up and a unique character can help, I am so glad that I already have it I just need more land to display my Springfield better.
Fun game to play and enjoy That is ALWAYS important! FUN!

  8. Is anyone else just a bit annoyed that along with the nice Springfield heights expansion, they’ve put the price up for every donut pack? Pretty bad move on EA’s part, it was expensive as it is but now it’s just unreasonable.

  9. As a “farmium” player, I’m at the point now where I can probably afford all limited time characters, so I picked him up even though he’s overpriced. I waited until I unlocked the 2 SH strips and put it all there. Still grinding my SH supplies. Those yoga mats are killing me, and I don’t have Duffman.
I’ve got a list of about 20 permanent premium characters that I don’t have yet

  10. Tempting, and I got found of the episode, but I’m saving my donuts in possible new and returning female characters for the possible Valentine’s day event.

    Just splatter the batter

Go nuts with the donuts! 🍩🍩🍩

  15. I got it, but only because I’m swimming in doughnuts (thank you KEM farming). I think 225 doughnuts is too much for most players.

  16. Man this better make return in couple months when im ready to drop donuts, maybe even with small rebate no.. Rabbi and Murderhorn took too much for me to catch this price

  17. I splurged. If it wasn’t for the new heights land I probably wouldn’t have , but it works in nice and I still have a good strip in the back of heights still open. I was a little short on donuts to get him so I bought a 300 donut pack, and still am well positioned going into the next event

  20. Huge, expensive, I don’t really care about a character (presumably) parodying Jay Z, so I easily passed on this. It does look nice and the tasks look pretty cool, which makes me reconsider, but I’ve already filled much of the new land in the Heights with stuff that was waiting for a place over there so where on earth would I put it? Hm.

  21. Jay G is only mildly interesting to me, so I decided that I’m just going to wait to see if he comes back at a discount at some later date. Besides, those classic premium characters have indeed been calling out to me… so Disco Stu just ate some of my donuts, instead.

Including NPCs — not all of which I even care about — that brings me down to 47 characters left to go, in the store… and depending upon event splurges, I might get through a decent portion of those before the end of the year. 😀

  24. It was huge but before I got to enjoy it, my phone crapped out. I got bluestacks but after about 10 seconds of play it crashes. Anyone with bluestacks experience that can help me out?

    • I have the same problems with Bluestacks. I have uninstalled it. I consider is CRAPware 😡

      • Although it was awful for TSTO, I love it for Amazon music. My phone just went nuts and that was my jukebox. I have Amazon unlimited on my laptop and it’s great for uploeading music but awful for playback. Glad to have my phone app I love so much on my computer.

    • I have found that TSTO and BlueStacks just don’t get along very well, especially once you’ve reached the point where the game starts warning you about how many items you have in your town. Every building, decoration, character, NPC, and task-completed icon takes up resources, and once a certain limit is reached, the app tends to die.

I tried storing most of my parking lots, lamp posts, and bonsai, and that does seem to improve things somewhat, as does clearing tasks as quickly as possible, but there are still times when the game just repeatedly crashes.

(And I had to give up playing the game in the middle of the Superheroes 2 event when the app would crash on startup, only coming back for Halloween after installing an updated version of BlueStacks.)

TL;DR: there’s an incompatibility between the app and player, and there doesn’t seem to be any reliable workaround.

      • Thanks, I gave up on it already. Odd not being able to play at all. Hope nothing hits before I can figure out what’s going on with my phone

  25. Probably will pass, being a freemium player. I did buy Duffman last night. He’s been on my radar for a while, what enticed me to do it was the task in Heights.

  26. Man, if it was cheaper, I’d snag it. And while I enjoyed the episode…I have to think of it as “will I need to use him for anything in the future?”

The final decision came down to tasks. His visuals are on the high end, 12 and 24. I normally use 4 or 8…so, gotta pass.

  27. I got it – I needed something to fill all the free space in Springfield Heights 😉
Seriously now, I think I only jumped at it because there was such a long lull. Finished the mini-event ages ago, and just needed something to do.
No regrets, though. The only drawback: I don’t really know how to decorate it, because it comes kind of fully decorated in itself…
