Well it’s been teased in game..and now we finally remember what Homer forgot….it’s update time!
This is an APP STORE update, so check your app stores to update. If you don’t see it as a pending update search your store for Tapped Out.
Currently this is only live on Android…waiting on iOS and Kindle…

As always I’ll be back with more details as I go through them, but for now…I’ve finally had a chance to go through everything, pull all the data and images…so here we go, details below the fold
Homer kicks things off with a 6s task, followed by another 6s task, followed by another 6s task, that last one will trigger the event and the event buildings…again back with more in a bit.
Side note…once you do the first 6s Homer task you’ll get a side quest from Bart. Initially you’ll be instructed to unlock Cecil…but once you have you’ll get a new daily challenge system…Road to Riches. From what i can tell this isn’t part of the event…I’ll explore it more in a bit…
As mentioned above you’ve got several 6s tasks for Homer before you’ll see event content in the store and your games. First thing you’ll see is…
Followed by a task to build the Excavation Site….
Excavation Site- Free, 14×14 in size
You’ll initially start with several shovels, because you’ll have a task to dig at the site…but the premise of the Excavation Site is to use the shovels you’ve earned to “dig” at the site until you find the gem. Once you’ve found the gem you’ll unlock all of the rewards that go with the site…until then you’ll earn rewards for each dig you do.
To dig simply tap on a square, as long as you have shovels you can dig.
For the first task Buried in Time Pt. 1, you’ll have to find the gem. You’ll be given more shovels (for free) until you do…since you can’t progress in the game without it. This is the ONLY time you’ll be given additional ones for free like that and you’ll see this popup

You can earn more shovels at…
Mom & Pop Hardware- Free, 9×10 in size.
This unlocks via the questline (Buried in Time Pt. 2) and you can send characters on 4hr tasks there to earn additional shovels. (initial task for questline is 6s…it won’t stay like that after you’ve finished the questline)
The Panini Press unlocks with It’s About Time Pt. 4…
Panini Press- Free, 2×2 in size
This is another one of those “tap to clear all tappables” items, but this has a little twist. You’ll have to upgrade this one to earn wider tap radius and decrease the cool down time (more on this in another post)..the starting cool down time is 24hrs
To upgrade the Panini Press you’ll need Tachyons, 
. You earn Tachyons from crafting, purchasing premium items and occasionally from the dig site.
Neighbor Actions
You’ll get 19 Fossils for your first set of Friend actions and then it’ll drop to 9 each until you’ve reached 90. Once you’ve hit 90 you won’t earn Fossils until the day resets.
Act 1 Prizes
Currency for Act 1 is Fossils 
You can earn Fossils several ways

-Digging at the Excavation Site

-Daily Challenges

You’ll also notice the prize screen is no longer “Acts”, instead it’s sections. You’ve got Prehistoric (which we’re working on), this will be followed by Egypt and that’ll be followed by Pirates.
Crafting
Crafting for this event unlocks with the questline, It’s About Time Pt. 5. You’ll be tasked to Build the Springsonian Museum
Springsonian Museum– Free, 7×13
Crafting currency is Specimens 
. You can earn these through the dig site and tappables.
Crafting will be available for the ENTIRE event.
Once again we’re in a level up system…level up crafting to unlock more craftables….
As always, I’ll have a FULL crafting post to breakdown each craftable up later. But here’s the quick list of what you can craft:
Prehistoric Fern– 250 (Level 1)
Dinosaur Skeleton– 2,500 (Level 2)
Triceratops Statue– 5,000 (Level 3)

There are 15 total levels for crafting…
And then there are items you can find at the excavation site, and once you find them there you’ll unlock them for crafting. They are:

Egyptian Sundial- 1,500
Pirate Treasure- 1,500
Grog Barrel- 700
Important Dates
Here are the important dates for the event…everything starts/ends (right now) at 800 GMT (4 am ET). This is just main event dates, we’ll breakdown when items leave the store etc when we post about them…

Event Ends July 5th, 2017

Items in the Store…
First thing you’ll notice is a popup for “the Vault”
This is something for everyday, not just during the event. EA has cleaned up the store a bit…you’ll notice icons in the store have really lowered…
The Vault is a way for EA to make regular items that are always available in the store “limited-time” to entice you to buy them when they are available. The nice thing is they are offering rebates on a lot of the items.
What’s in the vault appears to vary from town to town…so your vault may not be the same as your neighbors. It’s nice that the items will be available on discount…BUT keep in mind this will remove a bunch of items that have always been available from the store. So you’ve got to watch your vault and see what becomes available for you. (i will have a post up about what’s in the vault/what can be included)

Pertaining to the Time Travel Event…
New stuff…
Velvet Rope- $500
Cave Wall- $500
Waterslide Tree- 100 Donuts
Curvaceous Cave- 100 Donuts (if you don’t have Booberella it’ll come with her and cost you 50 donuts. You get her skin as well)
Springfield Historical Society– 150 Donuts
Certified Time Traveler Card- 90 Donuts during Act 1 (unlocks after you’ve completed the first round of friend actions.) This doubles your event currency you get from tapping neighbors. Don’t buy it…it’s a waste of donuts.
3 Shovels- 3 Donuts
25 Shovels- 20 Donuts
50 Shovels- 35 Donuts
Remember Shovels are used for digging at the excavation site. You can earn them for free by completing tasks at Mom and Pop. Don’t buy them unless you have some kind of shovel emergency…
Returning
Small Iceberg- 8,500
Medium Iceberg- 15 Donuts
Large Iceberg- 25 Donuts
Murderhorn- 250 Donuts, with a 125 Donut Rebate..Net 125 Donuts.
Cemetery Plot- 100 Donuts (Earns more shovels…so if you already have it be on the lookout for shovels from it) (Update: Sorry guys this was a little vague…the Plot doesn’t earn Shovels, Gravedigger Billy will. He’ll have a task at Mom and Pop’s to earn Shovels.)

This Friday (June 2nd) is Donut Day! And once again TSTO is celebrating by making it rain donuts!
Yes, that’s right..for a brief moment (unless you buy the donut boat) it’ll rain donuts in Springfield!
You’ll also get a nice little Donut Day gift from EA…15 free donuts!
Beyond that you can purchase donuts and get a Scratch-R bonus…or buy donut themed items on rebate (the boat makes it rain donuts)

For now this is an additional daily challenge system..like a list of Aspirational items to spend your in-game cash on.
They’re not going anywhere. You’re not forced to do it. But should you chose to you can.

New strip of land available across the bottom of Springfield…runs from the Ocean to the right.

I’ve run out of the shovels before I’ve unearthed a gem… I never received a pop up showing tasks to accumulate more shovels. I don’t have the “mom & pop’s hardware store” yet. All that considered… I’m not seeing options to be able to earn shovels to unearth a gem to complete “Buried in time Pt. 1”

Continue, it’ll give you move shovels for free. Just go back into the game and hit a square…that’s all indicated on the post above.
I wish I could play this event. But I get a “land error” ever since the update.
I accidentally bought Sherri and Terri YESTERFAY and my 178 donut stash became 18…. bought a $2 golden scratch off, BOOM! 50 more! Alright! 😽
I’d say this event is off to a great start.
what is the bonus for the cave?
I have a choice between:
-booberella and the cave for 150 donuts
-Powers house from the vault at 110 donuts(40 rebate)
Boob allows you to get 4 shovels per 4 hours.
But does the cave give some bonus ? It is not written in the description

Have they removed donuts from the mystery box (purchase for 6 donuts). I bought “several” today and usually get some donuts as a prize. I wanted to see if there were any new prizes in the box. I got multiples all of the usual items but never any donuts???

It’s a 25-box cycle (except for one that’s shorter). If you’re at the beginning and you don’t have the luck of getting donuts instead of Lard Lads, it can be a while before you get your first box with donuts in it.
Thank you. Before yesterday I think 12 was the highest I had ever gone without donuts. Yesterday I think I did over 13 rounds and got 3 lard lads and the other worthless stuff and no donuts. I’ll try some more when I build up donuts but didn’t want to keep trying if they were gone. Thank you!!!

It would appear that I’m missing some characters from the store. Probably a few other things as well. Guess that means I can expect them to be in the vault in the coming weeks. Which would be great, I love getting characters on rebate.

If you had to pick only one of the new premium items (Historical Society, Booberella caves, or water slide tree), which would you go for? I’m leaning toward the tree for the fossils and bonus % (I figure more fossils can help me hit bonus donut rounds), but am interested in your insight.
I guess it depends on what you like and if you have Booberella….
If you don’t have her, the cave. If you do have her then Historical Society. Not the water slide. Characters always trump items, IMO anyway.
seems like the Booberella deal isn’t a good one unless you don’t have her. seems odd that EA wouldn’t give an incentive for players who already have stuff.
Similar deal with Hank Scorpio and the Mastermind costume during the spy event. Great deal if you hadn’t purchased Hank before, but rather expensive if you had him already… My guess: you only need an incentive, if people don’t spend donuts (for whatever reason) on a regular basis, i.e. don’t have those premium characters. If you bought them at full price before, you have already proven that donuts are not an issue, and buy the costumes anyway. I did… 😉
I didn’t get the Bart/Cecil quest? I don’t own Cecil, but he’s not available to unlock via the Characters tab in the Store either! And no, I don’t have a new, 3rd green tab in my daily tasks taskbar. *sniffle sniffle*
Any ideas what I may need to do to get this to trigger?? I’m at lvl 939 & finished the Googlplex questline ages ago, so I doubt it has anything to do with not being levelled high enough.
The TTT Event is going along just fine, due to finish my 1st round of shovel-gathering in a few minutes. Haaaalllllp! 😭

I did a force stop of the game, and when I opened it back up, I got a quick little download & was excited & thought it might be the Road to Riches thingy. It wasn’t.
Uninstalled, reinstalled – nothing.
Closed & reopened my phone – nothing.
Spent 30min on the phone with Aaron at EA – no ideas, I guess he’s forwarding it to the development team. Suggested checking EA’s boards for others with this issue.
*sigh*
Hmm, I’m not seeing this either. The task didn’t trigger, can’t find Cecil in store, and no task on the daily task menu. Maybe need to report this to EA? Going to check husband’s phone/game.
I contacted EA yesterday and was basically told if you don’t have Cecil already, you won’t have the Road to Riches. 🙁
Hey, did you ever get The Road to Riches to start? As soon as I broke $2million in-game cash, it gave me Cecil & the associated Tasks (both his original & the new TRtR). I wonder if that’s the (unstated) requirement?
It’s a permanent addition to the game so I’d assume you haven’t completed whatever is needed to trigger the quest yet. By all accounts it is somehow related to aspirational items already owned (money mountain, giant redwood, $1 million-plus buildings/decos in the store) and/or in-game cash levels. It should start when you complete the prerequisite activity.
It finally started when I reached $2m in-game cash. I havent finished MM nor even begun the Redwood one, so I guess that’s what I needed! 😊

Booberella in a cave woman bikini was too 60’s B-movie schlock for me to miss out on, so grabbed her too.
Hi Anyone having problems with this update. The event has started over twice for me already and now when I logged in it was starting again with homers 6 second task…

hitting (r,c) (2,2), (2,5), (5,5), (5,2) will cover 25 of 36 squares. If you don’t find a rock try (4,3) covering 3 spots. Then you have 4 covering 2 spots (1,3 or 4), (4 or 5,1),(4 or 5,6),(6, 3 or 4). . That leaves the four corners. And last being (3,4). Worst case: it takes 14 shovels. If you get a rock in the first 4, the most to find the gem is 4 more, or 8 max. The 5th requires 2 more, or 7 max.
I don’t suppose there is a diagram of what you’re getting at, here? I don’t really understand what the numbers are supposed to be standing in for.
Don’t do it! I’m writing a post about it, but complete the dig site in as many moves as possible, you’ll earn way more fossils.
I’ve noticed that, but you also earn fewer of the other currencies.
Yea but my thought processes would be finish the prize track then focus on the other items. Prize track takes some Fossil grinding…

I’m not really concerned about getting enough fossils. I’ll be fine on that front. I’m finding shovels way harder to come by than fossils. I’m just not sure what these numbers are supposed to be representing in terms of the grid. I guess I need a picture.

Sorry, still not following. I get that the gem is next to rocks. I don’t get what the numbers mean, here.
1 is position (3,3), if you find a rock you should try -1- (2,3), (4,3), (3,2), or (3,4). If blank, it will not be any of those, thus try 2 (4,5) and repeat.

I mean it’s up to you…but the vault items all rotate with a discount, so you’re better off buying them from the vault when available.
Besides this new prehistoric new quest, I got another update with a new added character ‘Cecil Terwillger’.. I didn’t have him before so maybe it was just for those of us who didn’t have him? There is a quest line called “Say ‘Cheers’ ” but I didn’t see anything about this quest here? Only a June 2015 post about Cecil and a new quest for him then. This quest has Cecil “Hang out with the Barflies” and ‘Make Moe Gouge Customers”. I’m only o9n “Say Cheers Pt 3” so I am not sure what else goes on? Just curious who else got this and how long it goes on?
Out of curiosity, do you already have sideshow bob ? I noticed some of us didn’t get a prompt to unlock Cecil.
I do already have Sideshow Bob.. but never had Cecil.. Cecil unlocked for me with the new update and added green icon to put him on jobs. But first Cecil has a bunch of quests for the ‘Say Cheers’ quest line

Cemetery plot is doing nothing for me. No shovels! Should I contact EA, or do I need to wait for something to trigger it? I purchased it when it originally came out.
The character that came with it does earn shovels, not the grave itself.
It won’t produce anything. Gravedigger Billy can be sent to the Mom & Pop store to earn 3 shovels/4 hours.
I guess most people were expecting the event to be set a few decades in the past not a few millenniums (thousands of years). At least the event only lasts 5 weeks instead of 6 this time. I noticed that Johnny Tightlips and the casino have disappeared from the store and I had a 0.50% increase in bonus with this update, what item has had a bonus percentage added to it?
Explosives and Sacred Parchment, both 0,5%
Stonecutter’s “Sacred Parchment” now has 0.5% bonus
WildWest “Explosives” now has 0.5% bonus
Both was unique free prizes from past events.
Thanks aabend380 and Alex – aabcampos2, it must be the Sacred Parchment in my town that increased it and I’m going to have to look for the explosives because they must be in my inventory somewhere, do you know if anything else has a % percentage bonus with it from this event? I heard that the Snake Tree from superheroes also has a bonus % now. 🙂
Gravedigger Billy’s cemetery plot earns shovels? I know that he does, but hadn’t thought to look there. Thanks for the tip. Has it ever earned income before?
