Why no Democrat Presidents? Not complaining.
If any of those presidents were alive today, they would probably be democrats- maybe even Nixon. 😜
Likely not true. But yes, both parties have shifted in philosophy over the decades.
Not getting too political, but based on agendas and philosophies it could be said that in the past Republicans would be current day Democrats and past Democrats would be current day Republicans (Linkin was a Republican, but many of his ideals actually align with the current day Democrats, for example). It’s eery.
Teddy Roosevelt created the national park system. Nixon created the EPA, the clean water act, etc. Eisenhower created the interstate highway system. Washington helped create a new nation with a revolution (John Lennon and the Beatles). Lincoln freed the slaves and saved the union from “states rights” activists. Can you imagine any modern day republicans doing any of those things today? OMG! Trump is the polar opposite of all of these other great presidents (yes. Even Nixon minus watergate).
I’m aware of what they did, my analysis is just different. I spent a lot of time studying this and writing papers on the analysis. I look at it through a different lens than you do
By the way- Teddy Roosevelt was the original “progressive”. Think early 20th century Bernie Sanders. Trust buster, etc.

I wouldn’t say it’s a political debate. It’s more a factual argument. I’m actually trying really hard to keep my own politics out of it lol BUT you’re right and we should stop. 🙂
Washington was a Federalist. While Lincoln and Roosevelt were Republicans, the party in their days was very, very different from what it became in the 1960s: Roosevelt ran for a third term in 1912 at the head of the Progressive Party, aka the Bull Moose Party.
As for Eisenhower, he was a war hero and believed strongly in equal rights (Truman had started the desegregation of the US military, but integration was very slow: Eisenhower made it happen) and in science (Eisenhower kickstarted the space race and made sure that ample funds were available to schools from elementary to universities to guarantee a large supply of scientifically literate people.) He appointed Earl Warren and William Brennan and Potter Stewart to the Supreme Court, ushering in an era of many landmark civil rights rulings. Having actually commanded troops in war, he was very reluctant to engage in war. He ended the Korean War, and firmly resisted the hawks in Congress and the media that demanded he use nuclear weapons against China. In short, Eisenhower may have been a Republican but he is in no way similar to the Republicans of today.
I wouldn’t say very very different. It was different, but a lot of the same principles. “Speak softly, carry a big stick” on foreign policy was Roosevelt’s motto. That’s certainly in thinking with the GOP more than the Dems.
And the same with Ike. You’re cherry picking things to meet your thesis. But that doesn’t represent a full picture of everything.
I would say the Democrats of today are closer to the labour party of Great Britain Kennedy would be closer to today’s Republicans. Nixon, I am not so sure of. His price controls, the EPA and favoring socialized medicine he probably be closer to Hillary Clinton then today’s republicans. Military, security, defending the country, philosophy of self-reliance. I would say that Washington, Lincoln and TR would still be closer to Republicans of today. Washington was the richest person in the country. Lincoln headed out west with the Railroads while the war was still going on.

awwww! the one time I got the random box, got Retro Lard Lad! 🙁 Although, 75 donuts is cheap for a full character and a building. I was just hoping to get one of the presidents. I’m a whiny baby, I know. 😉

I’ve wanted the presidents for awhile and never had the doughnuts. I previously got Lincoln. I got the three other presidents from the boxes, the skin, HQ, Freedom and LL. I didn’t really care for the skin, HQ or Freedom, but I got them in the boxes before I got the last president. I’ll have enough doughnuts for Ike tomorrow.
Lol, Alissa – You’re right about Ike looking more like Bob Hope! If we ever get one of the army base in our game, maybe he’ll go entertain there. 😉

Anyone else having trouble buying donuts? I tried to buy and got “There are no purchases to be restored.” What does that mean??
I have that same problem.
Hours on the phone w EA & Google play (I use an Android device), lots of troubleshooting steps later all to no avail. Each company blamed the other and thier final suggestion was to try my game on another device. So now, in order to buy donuts, I have to borrow my mother’s Kindle, log her out, log in w/ my info, but donuts, then reset the Kindle back to her settings.
It’s a PITA to say the least, and EA has told me repeatedly that there’s nothing wrong with the game !

Actually, if you have the option of buying donuts via a Kindle, you should always do that, because you usually get them at a discount, and often at a double discount. First, you usually get a discount when you’re converting real cash to Amazon coins and then Amazon often has (or had, at least) deals where you got con rebates once you silent them to buy donuts. When I was still buying donuts, I always bought them through my Kindle, unless I was using iTunes credit I’d amassed via QuickThoughts.

I bought all Mystery Boxes, all a good value at 75 donuts – started with Lincoln, then Nixon, then Americatown with Kumiko skin, then Republican Headquarters, then Roosevelt, then Freedom with Presidential Estate, then Retro Lard Lad, then, finally, Washington. I would have stopped if I got all presidents and Retro Lard Lad first, but that would have been incredible luck!
Anyone know what happens if you get Americatown but don’t have Kumiko? Do you get the full character?

Things are looking good for game A. Already have pirate ship. Spent over 900 donuts getting all the Presidents, plus extras!!! Bonus percentage at 2591.26%.
I think my favorite part of this all is the legitimately solid explanation for why we’ve got dead presidents walking around in Springfield, it’s so good.

Bought eisenhower straight away but only have 2 items in my mystery box and neither of them interest me. The Republican headquarters and freedom. If they’d added diggs the birds owner to the game with it as a bundle I would definitely consider it.
I’m passing on all these items (already have bell, memorial, & fireworks) – I guess I’m the only non-American here not excited by them. I’m actually just hoping they bring back all of the items from the current event for a final purchase before it ends. I’m still bummed the Vault has been so horrible… I wish they’d cycled items every 48 hours instead of leaving us stuck with items we don’t want for a week. All I wanted was a discounted Dr Nick!
My vault has been uninspiring, I want Dr Nick too. I did buy French Waiter last week. Looking forward to SIB for 4th July box, I don’t have any Presidents yet but I do have Freedom & Kumiko – not sure I want to risk my 🍩🤔
I’m not American and I am completely unimpressed. Normally I am all over the mystery boxes (a deal!) but will be avoiding all these things this weekend.
I *am* an American, but never really have understood the appeal of getting presidents in a Simpsons game. (Yes, I know they sometimes make cameos from the great beyond, but…) However, these are a really great deal – character combos for only 75 donuts! – and I’m flush with donuts right now, so I’ll probably grab them all. (The hard part will be figuring out where to fit in everything, design-wise.) But I may hold off on ol’ Ike and pick him up when he comes back on discount.

Can Retro Lard Lad replace the standard Lard Lad? There are tasks that require you to send characters to Lard Lad. Can I Store the Standard and instead send characters to Retro?

Mystery box seems to be a good buy for that price!
Nice, Ike’s Jeep has a 4% bonus. So in my book that is 90 donuts for a limited time character and 60 donuts for the 4% bonus item – so I bought him.
My 4th of July box had Washington, Lincoln, the presidential estate and the GOP headquarters in it. I played once and got Washington. Yay!
Not sure if I’ll try again for Lincoln, I am not too keen on the remaining buildings, my donut count is 40 now and I have Princess Kashmir in the vault to save for.
I take it you have to finish the mini quest line before the items are available? They’re not showing in my Springfields. I’m looking forward to the mystery box because I have all but two of the items. I want to get Teddy Roosevelt. I passed on him last year because he was so expensive. I’m glad I did. Maybe I’ll get Ike next year?
I was looking forward for the presidents (as I only had Nixon). Was saving donuts to have at least 2 tries – just finished getting 120 donuts this morning. Bam, one try costs 75 donuts. Well, at least one try – of course Americatown with costume for Kumiko (crap that I wanted the least). Anyway, I wanted Jebediah Springfield anyway, so purchased 300 donuts. Second try – of course, Republican Headquarters (shared last place with Americatown in my wish list). Third try – guess? Presidential house with NPC. At least now I can only get full characters. Purchased donuts were enough to get me Washington and Lincoln. Well, time to get good use for my stored 13 million ingame dollars – XP accelerator and purchasing bloodmobiles gave me enough donuts for 2 more tries, getting Retro Lard Lad and last the president I wanted the most – Roosevelt. Now with 2 donuts I am hoping they do not add something I really want (hoped I would have enough donuts to purchase Blackbeard – that is not gonna happen).
Hmmm, that’s backing up my fear that I don’t want to risk my 🍩 🤔 Might just splurge on Eisenhower but will be waiting to see what’s in my vault for next week first anyway 😊
