Addicts Community Member Ebron has been dealing with this too & she’s been graciously communicating back and forth with EA about the issue. So I’ve been posting her comments in various posts (you can find some info at the top of this post)
Yesterday, Ebron posted a solution to fixing the server issues & was gracious enough to grab a screenshot of the solution as well…for those who don’t read every comment. Here’s the solution:
Now I know this isn’t feasible for everyone…as not everyone has a second device they can use but this should help a majority of you. Even if you borrow a friend, parent, significant other’s device to do this quickly.
For those that can’t do this…your best bet is to contact EA or go to their forum and add your “Me Too” to their post.
I was wondering why a was losing money all of a sudden. Turns out that when I was using the Office of Unenployment, Cecil Terwilliger is automaticly doeing the Road to Riches jobs. Don’t know if anybody else has the same issues but pay attention to this if you suddenly see large amounts on your bank account dissapear.
For me, Cecil always earns if I use the OoU, and only need to be careful if sending him by tapping for his task list and only reading the time taken – then it’s too easy to make an expensive mistake.
I finally connected in today. Had 202 out of 400 currency for the final prize. Sent everyone out on tasks. Logged in later to clear the tasks and the currency was still 202 after I collected everything. Sent them back out again figuring I won’t be able to collect the prize track because the game was still broke. Logged in later to collect and the game gave me the 198 more currency I needed and the final building. I should have only gotten around 65 or so.
I’m wondering if EA is giving everyone the prizes because of the connectivity issues.
Anyone else experience this ?
I can connect, but it’s so slow as to be almost unplayable.

I tried to log in this morning, and it worked.
(ios and I play Tapped Out on my ipad)
I didn’t need to do anything, it just worked.
I guess Bart thought he had kept me out of paying long enough. 😛

Mine comes and goes. I went through the initial whole day about waiting for a fix. Finally I just uninstalled then reinstalled it. About a half a day later, again came the connection problems. I think I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled it about 4 times. During the spots of playing I have been able to do, I’ve done a few neighbor visits and came back. I guess we’ll see what happens next time I try starting it up.
If you don´t have an extra device opening EA Ticket is the solution!
FREE MONEY TRICK
If you sell the old convention centre (not the capital city one) you will get $37000. Go to the store and the convention centre will be available for $150000 with a rebate of $150000. (i.e. FREE) If you keep buying and selling the convention centre you will make $37000 everytime without losing any money. You can sell the convention centre without waiting fo it to rebuild. I’ve been doing this for about 10 minutes and have made $5 Million dollars.
The rebate for the convention centre is only available while this event is on so hurry and you can make millions.
I really like my convention center so I’m scared to try this lol

Thanks, didn’t realize that for whatever reason. But I now have successfully replenished the $15 million I just dropped on land last week plus an extra one or two.
this is an awesome tip. Works perfectly for me.. Be aware, though – my Consumerism rating dropped to Zero, I think because of selling all these
Convention Centers. But getting tens (hundreds) of millions is worth it IMO.
Holy carp, thank you! I made about $20 million doing this yesterday and I’m going to try to pile on more today.
Warning: this either no longer works or doesn’t work for me. There is no rebate anymore…at least for me.
Thanks so much for this tip. I got a decent amount of funds yesterday. I plan to purchase a bunch of land and do some proper town planning over the next few months. The best reason I can fathom for EA doing this is that the next (mini) event will involve the convention centre.
Wish we’d figured this out sooner. In two days we picked up about $100,000,000. A quite decent haul.
Remember how bad the harp of death was all those years ago? That was bad. Hopefully EA has learnt from their mistakes and can sort this quickly. My game is working but feel for whos ever isnt . I couldnt do the harp of death again ever!
Remember to force a sync before gameplay so you don’t get locked out, and to sync again before leaving so you don’t lose any progress if it glitches again or you swap devices anyway.
The problem is fixed… At least For me. I didnt do anything… Just tried to join.

I installed tsto on the wifes phone and tried this…works a treat.
No longer need to talk to her…normal service resumed

Deleting and then installing the game again did the trick for me

Not sure if this has been addressed yet, but I’ve noticed some premium outfits paying out standard rates, for example prairie Maggie.
So glad this page was here, the second device thing fixed my issue last night.

My game was stuck for two days. After reading this I picked up my wife’s Android phone and started downloading the game (she doesn’t play). While it was downloading I was able to sign into my account on her phone. I confirmed play at the warnings about a second device.
Since it takes about an hour to download the whole thing I immediately went back to my Android phone and tried to log in. At the warnings about a second device I said play anyway. And it worked. I’m able to play again and finished the event. But for how long will it work? I went back to my wife’s phone and deleted the download that was still in progress. Thanks for the help.
Just make sure you visit a neighbor before doing anything else when you start the game. That should help keep you connected to the server.
both of my devices have the issues… ~sighing~ i’m on the list of “me too”… I was so behind on the last event do to my health… ~pouts~
You can still use the “fix”…if you can’t get into the second(backup) device, delete the game and start a re-load…you can log in while it re-loads. While the backup device is loading, go to your original device and start the game…choose “play” when you get the “other device” notices and when the game starts, immediately go to a neighbor’s town. TSTO on your original device should now allow you to play.
When the backup device finishes loading, you will now get the “other device” notices on it…go ahead and choose ”play”. Immediately go to a neighbor’s town and back. Both devices should work now.
Just make sure to immediately visit a neighbor’s town each time you start up the game (until this problem is fixed) and you should be ok.
Force-close TSTO on one device and re-start it.
You only need to trigger the “other device” warning and force a sync to get going again
I have not been able to connect due to Server error for 5 days now. I don’t have another device either. So that’s it for me. It’s the only game I play.
Or you could try the contact EA option….
Please see my link below to the post I put on EA forums about this, you don’t need another device, just a way to trigger the “other device” warning like a part or full reinstall or anything that forces you to log in and makes the server uncertain about the device
Not sure how to trigger the “other device” warnings without having been on another device. Just re-installing the game didn’t work for me nor did logging out and back in( I tried both when all this first started)…any other ideas? Thanks, it would sure be easier if we could do it with one device.👍
Deleting log-in and saved state with either a full uninstall and back to the app store, or find the app in settings and clear data – not just the cache, all of it so it downloads all the “in game” updates and needs a login.
When it starts again it doesn’t know for sure if it’s a new instance somewhere and will – in my experience anyway – prompt with the “your other device” warnings
There is no “clear data” option available on the iPad when you go to TSTO in Settings…you can change sound and notification status, but that’s it. Are you playing on Android?
The “other device” warning comes every time I log out of my game and log in again – even if it is on the same device. Since I have more than one game going, I log out and in on a regular basis, and never end the game without a synch. Maybe that’s why I didn’t have any connectivity problems?
I had this issue on Saturday. I raised a ticket with EA who got back to me very swiftly, saying they were aware of issues and were trying to rectify it. In the meantime, they suggested some troubleshooting methods, which I did. Now either EA sorted it for me or my troubleshooting worked…..either way, they very generously gifted me with 20 donuts for my inconvenience which I was more than happy with ☺️. Great customer service.

“Yesterday I cleared the data files on my Fire tablet and then restarted the game, had to re-login and was able to play as normal.
However, the Bart screen is back again tonight
Obviously this is not an OS fault but something wrong at EA”
This has worked but is tedious after a few times to say the least, I will try Ebrons suggestion (if wifey (suspicious and a non-player!) gives me her tablet!) and let you know if this is successful for the benefit of other addicts
Update 35 mins later
Logged in using wifeys tablet, went to neighbours as instructed and returned to my Springfield. However Barts screen came up whilst syncing back to my Springfield – balls to this I thought
Re-logged back into my Fire tablet, went straight to neighbours and back out again, all seems well and good at the moment except the 4hr tasks I set this morning have gone and the game has gone back to the 8hr tasks I set last night. I collected a few buildings and exited the game – then was able to get straight back in again a few minutes later – so hopefully this is now fixed
I’ll update again after the 4hr tasks I’m going to set every character just to make sure!
As an aside – I hope the Ebron in my Neighbours list is the one who has found the solution!!
Hi neighbor…I posted the solution, but Graham was the super brain who first posted it on the forum. Without his research we’d all still be staring at Bart 24/7😆
I hope they extend the event. I haven’t been able to play in three days.

Just to be sure the problem doesn’t re-occur (it did for me, I had to fix it a second time), make sure you always visit a neighbors town immediately after starting the game. This helps anchor the game (thru a sync with the server) and keeps you from being dumped again. Hopefully, EA will fix this soon, but until then, alway visit a neighbor town first before doing anything else. 😁
Since the fix on Friday I’ve seen Bart once and the first retry worked, but I do sync regularly anyway, mainly to clear the fog of floating XP and dollars while tapping or the chance I’ll want bluestacks for a screenshot and want to make sure my game is saved.
You don’t need a second device if doing a part or full reinstall triggers the “your other device” warning.
Do sync before gameplay in case it locks you out again though.
Ebron explained it well, having read Christine’s post earlier on the open thread, but may not have answers to all questions.
The origin of this solution, and a little extra information on how and why, and what if you only have one device has been posted on the EA forum.

I had a similar problem about 3 years ago and contacted EA.
At the time I only had one device and the problem was resolved by signing into my town on a friend’s device and her signing in on my device.
If anybody does not have a second device it may be possible to resolve if you have a friend or relative who is willing to download the game to enable you to use their device. It’s just an idea as it worked for me.
I am having this issue, I don´t have access to another device, is there a chance this issue will resolve itself? Or do I have to forcefully contact EA?
If you use the in-game help (a question mark shows up on the screen), choose the option to have them call you back. They have always called me within 2 minutes anytime I requested…also, they are alot more helpful than the email folks.

I couldn’t use the regifter or even see the proze track through out the whole Christmas event. I contacted EA and they had me do all kinds of things to my settings but my issue was never resolved and I wasn’t able to finish the event. They didn’t seem that concerned even though I spend quite a bit of money each month on them. Luckily I was able to play this event. Seems a lot of the issues I am having are coding issues on their end ( I have a brand new phone, plenty of space and great connectivity). I am feeling that TSTO has run the course for me. So unless they give troy mcclure, I probably won’t do another event.
