Christmas 2018 is Nearing the End…

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Just a reminder that the Christmas Event Ends TOMORROW January 2nd.

And YES, this means that ALL of the prize track questlines (main questlines for Weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4) will go.  So you need to finish up and unlock ALL of the prizes before tomorrow at 10a ET.

This means that you will want to make that final push to gather up all the things you want from the Event before it goes with the Event.

As far as what is going to happen AFTER the Event… well, we can’t know… until it is over. Until then all we can do is speculate. So, patience. We all have to verify what happens after together.

But there’s a good chance you’ll see a mini event hit our games once this event is over…

Now as far as to what is going with the Event, here is a brief rundown…

  • Questlines linked directly to the progression of the Event will go. Like the Main Questlines that pulled you through all 4 Weeks.
  • However, the questlines linked directly to the prizes and Premium Characters you’ve won will remain. (so Jim Hope, Lee Carvallo, Young Marge etc)
  • The event removal will likely require an app store update to fully remove it from your game.  So don’t panic when the timer runs down and the event isn’t out of your game…  It may require an app store update to remove everything. (sometimes, in the past, with the Christmas Event EA sends the next update through the files and doesn’t require an App Store Removal.  That allows us to keep the snow, but have new content.  So we’ll have to see what happens this time around)

I know some of you still try to push that last few minutes of the collection as far as you can. However, with the last few events EA has really shut off the ability to play on “borrowed time”.  In other words, once the timer runs out the ability to collect prizes ends.  So don’t count on getting any extra time with this one.  Try to finish everything up before the timer runs out tomorrow morning.

And don’t forget to buy the cash items in the store!  Once they’re gone they’re gone.

So finish up those questlines, relax, and wait to see what EA has next in store for us.

Oh and don’t be surprised if we see a mini-event hit tomorrow with the removal.  As we’ve been saying for a long time…mini-events are downtime.  There’s never going to be a period where nothing is going on in the game, they’ll constantly update to keep players engaged.  They may be small updates, designed to finish quickly and then enjoy some downtime before a timer runs out, but you’ll never see a massive amount of time without new content in this game.  You may get a day or two, but not weeks.

Are you sad to see the event go?  Or ready for it to finally be over?  How did you do with the prizes?  Get everything you wanted?  What are you hoping to see next?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I honestly don’t think it felt like a series of mini events. It felt like an event with an actual story line. Loved it

  2. I loved the Christmas event! My only complaint was the task line for Mrs Claus. I hated it. No way could Santa’s wife be a drunk. Made me sad, especially after all the fun stories by the Simpsons. I love all the prizes we got though. Happy New Year!

    Seer of Seers!
    When will the mini Launch?
Thou knowest all, please enlighten us.
I / we require information, lots of information- even if it is a mere bucket of Bilogical Solids.

  4. I guess I wasn’t thrilled by it. It wasn’t terrible (see KISL event) but didn’t really have any activities that I knew of or anything really to do other than plunk down random christmas things here and there. I think they could go back to Halloween or the zoo to see how those things kept people engaged. I guess specifically in the Halloween event, the digging pit was fun and kept me engaged throughout the event… and this was despite the huge miscalculation of the Tween Lit building.

So it was fun but somehow as I was on long trips for most of it, didn’t really pay much attention to the dialog (totally my fault) and then the things that we earned didn’t make a ton of sense (again, my fault)… Though they could have as they did in Halloween. Super glad they didn’t randomly extend my springfield with this one and let me do it at my discretion.

I’m seriously considering a labyrinth for the monorail.,..

  5. I really enjoyed this event .. I finished yesterday and I loved the new characters I won and the few bundles (meaning the 4 religious buildings and character packages) I bought.. I really wanted At Paul’s Basilica as have missed it a few times and glad to say I got it on 4 out of the 4th attempt 😂… but I couldn’t pass them up for 60 donuts.. it turns out the Alien Manger is brilliant too so really chuffed.. bring on the next event 😄

  6. I hate not knowing if another event is about to pop up. I have to send Homer on a 24 hour task. With my luck I’ll send him and then the new event will start lol 😅

  7. OK, now that the event is over I can say this: Meh…. There was no gimmick for this event, No pressure. Nothing that made me want to get to my device “in a hurry or ill miss out”. This was the FIRST event where I didnt have to go to THIS blog to get advice. This was a real “no-thinker”. I expect MORE on one of the biggest holiday event of the year. IMO, quantity does not mean quality. Any who, I hope you all have a fruitful and fun New Year

  8. Thank goodness I spent a few donuts to rush the last set of jobs! I was absolutely up to the wire and the timer would have run out. This was a fun event and I’m delighted with the sleighs! Of course I got the cat lady, and I’m so glad I didn’t miss out on the greyhounds.

This was a busy Christmas season for us in real life, and the event was a nice diversion with funny storyline. Wishing everyone peace and blessings in 2019, especially my dear neighbor Handsome Hank!

  9. I got my first item warning today (9100 items) when I was buying multiples of the cash decorations from this event. I did buy 100s of the presents and carollers but I got around 30 and 40 of the trees, carts and booths. I hope the snow can stick around for a little longer in the game.

  10. Idk to me it just seems like they threw in 5 mini events in a row(thanks giving and Christmas) and now they are going to close it with another one doesn’t seem right

  11. 13 new characters for Christmas!!! 😍
Loved this event… just finished it last night 😊

Personally hoping for a small tie or a little new year gift with some old event item sales before thEAy launch the next major 6 week 3 act event.

    Perhaps even…
    Update the vault!
    Open up Springfield Heights land!
Add the final item in Roads to Riches!

  12. I completed all of the event quest and now I’m trying to get the last of the gingerbread for Marge & Maggie’s quest. At 264/350 uggh! Still have to wait 40 min before I can restart jobs. Just not going to be able to complete it in time. Haven’t done their individual 8hr jobs related since they didn’t earn gingerbread cookies (Why couldn’t you earn cookies? Whyyyyy?)
I really wish we could get a “free finish job” when there’s <30 min, etc. like on regular jobs.

  13. All I can say this was an awesome idea to have Mini Events stacked together , because we were rewarded with so much stuff (and it was so easy, no grinding, to obtain!)

Yeah, the bought Premiums were probably more rewarding, but the Game App has been this way long enough that any argument regarding this is now moot!

Let’s see if we actually will get a New Year’s Mini Event 😂

  14. Will there be a chance to complete the final questline if we are in the middle of it, like for Thanksgiving?

  15. Tracy-1ltwoody920

So I guess I shouldn’t send everyone out on a 24 hour event.

  16. I liked the event and the stories. But it wasn’t as relaxing as I thought. I just finished the last quest of the event today.

  17. I loved not having to grind these holidays. Much preferred the mini event to the constant grind. Now if tlhere was a better way to get land tokens.

  18. Happy new year everyone.
Regarding this event, well it was ok but nothing special. At least it gave us all a break.
Best thing for me were the boxes, I picked up a lot of characters at great reductions.

  19. I had a lot of reasons why I hated this event. I think the main thing that really hurt me was that I use this game to occupy myself when I’m not so happy. This event didn’t do it for me at all.

If this is the new normal, I won’t be playing anymore.

  20. Film For Emotion

I hope the snow sticks around a bit longer. I love the snow and having my christmas lights on the houses and the power plant!

  21. Any event that gives you four free characters is a good event. Plus each act was only a week long. I’d like to see more like this.

  22. I won’t finish the event in time (focused on family in December) but I have donuts to buy ONE of the building/character sets. Which one would you suggest? So sad I missed young Marge.

  23. I felt like this one was a snooze fest, I wish they would recycle some of the things they did the first couple of years but with some different prizes.

  24. This has been one of my favorite events in a long time, at least since the Sideshow Bob one. The story line was very good, decent prizes, and some nice offerings. Away to many events, to me, have been a big “meh”.

  25. Happy new year, folks!

I’ve enjoyed the lack of pressure on this one – I’ve been visiting relatives, and wherethey live there is no internet on most mobile networks….

But I think a special Happy New Year is due to the folks at EA. We are all quick to complain, but I think this event worked very well, so it seems only fair to give them some credit for a change 🙂

  26. This didn’t really feel like a full event to me, more like a series of mini events. I think I preder the old style, grind or not – at least then there’s a difference between the two types of event as well. I’m glad that the character prizes were building-less though. I want new characters but they now always seem to come with buildings I have no interest in. 😛

  27. Thanks for clarifying what “ends on January 2” means. TSTO was on the back burner for me through the holidays. Land tokens are slipping away. I might need to be a bit more addicted to TSTO today.

  28. I finished, but all I really wanted was another stab at getting Santa Homer. 🙁

    • He’s in the mystery box with Santa Flanders for 60 donuts. No guarantees you’ll gets him right away though. Santa homer is freemium and Santa Flanders is premium

  29. TallSpiderCandy

To me, this has been one of the best events EA has churned out!! 😃 I’m sad to see it go. I look forward to the snow, so hoping they keep it around for a while. Now I need to get busy organizing lol 😃 Happy New Year everyone! Thanks Addicts for all the hard and time consuming work you do!! Happy tappin 😃

  30. Good riddin’s
But, if a mini-event will be coming with the removal…how will we really notice a change at all? That’s what we’ve been doing for each of the last four weeks? LOL…

    HAPPY NEW YEARS tappers 😎🎉🎊
