Looks like an Episode Tie-In for this week’s “War of Art” episode just hit our devices. Working through the details as we speak, but this is an in-game update. Meaning it will download automatically once you start TSTO, so you don’t have to go to the App Store looking for it!

You may have trouble getting it to start in your town, if that happens try all of the usual troubleshoot methods (hard close and restart app, restart your device. You may have to do it more than once)

Mayor Quimby Auto Starts
Mayor Quimby: Residents of Springfield, do not panic, but we are experiencing an invasion by an alien species. Every neighborhood, every street is being overwhelmed by —
Lisa: GUINEA PIGS!!!! Dad, I’ve always wanted one, and here are dozens wandering the streets, desperate to be rescued, and I’m the FIRST LITTLE GIRL on the scene!!
Homer: Hmmm, don’t you think we should just call animal control? Or lots of speeding cars?
Lisa: No, Dad! Let me take them. I’d be the perfect guinea pig owner. I even know their common health problems, which include wheezing….crusty eyes, receding eyes, drooling, watery diarrhea, anorexia, bladder stones, limping and mange mites.
Homer: That sounds like a lot of fun, honey. But how about anything in the world else?
Lisa: We have to rescue them. Guinea pigs are mistreated everywhere. Did you know that in Peru people eat them? (Note from Alissa…true story. Once worked with a woman from Peru who used to tell me all about how they ate them, and the different ways to cook them. Kinda gross!)
Homer: Wait, they what?
Lisa: Nothing, Dad! They nothing.
Homer: I just have one question: how long are they cooked and at what temperature and are they brined and what sauces bring out their delicate flavor?
Lisa: They’re getting away! Help me rescue them!
Rescue Escaped Guinea Pigs- x40 To get things going you have to find and tap 40 Guinea Pigs in your town. They’re hard to spot but they are EVERYWHERE. They’re roaming around Springfield and they come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some are fluffier than others too! When you Tap on them they roll into a ball and disappear! Again do this 40 times to get this going in your town!
Lisa: Where did all these poor guinea pigs come from?
Wiggum: It’s common for people to dump unwanted pets in Springfield. That’s why there’s a flock of ferrets living under Moe’s, and hundreds of monkeys in Professor Frink’s lab. It’s strange that so many people didn’t want their monkeys
Lisa: That’s horrible! But I’ll never give a single one of these cute guinea pigs away — ow! Hey, that white one just bit me!

Homer Starts
Homer: Uh-oh, I see blue hair coming this way.
Marge: Homer! There are 40 guinea pigs in Lisa’s room!
Homer: I know, honey. I’ll find a tactic to make her get rid of them right away.
Marge: Good.
Homer: Um, what tactic do you suggest I use?
Marge: Parenting!
Homer: Okay, I’ll try, but I haven’t had much luck with it before. Lisa! You can’t keep these guinea pigs here. You have to find a home for them right now or you don’t get to go to Janie’s birthday party.
Lisa: Okay
Homer: Good lord, this “parenting” thing is some powerful mojo.
Make Lisa Locate a Guinea Pig Sanctuary– 12hrs, Earns $420, 100xp
Lisa: Dad, I found a guinea pig rescue center on Craigslist!
Homer: Ah, Craigslist — the site that killed off classified ads, the yellow pages, and escorts having no where to advertise.
Lisa: The land the rescue center was on was taken over by survivalists so the center’s looking for new land. Apparently it’s easy to move — it’s a “manufactured home.”
Homer: In my day, those were called “mobile homes” and the residents were proud to be called trailer trash. But there’s no no name for these “manufactured home” people! Why must we ruin everything?
Lisa: Dad, I’m a little tired of hearing your “take” on things. Can’t we just find some land?
Homer: Land! The only thing in the world that God’s not making any more of…except during the Squidport update.

Lisa Auto starts
Lisa: I’m so glad we finally found a home for all those adorable guinea pigs. Can we go there right now and make sure that the workers are calling them by the names I gave them? It’s easy to confuse Iphigenia for Clytemnestra.
Homer: Sure, we can go. My shoes can always use a few minutes of standing in shallow pails of bleach.
Place Guinea Pig Rescue Center- Free building, takes 24hrs to build.
Make Lisa Faun over Rescued Guinea Pigs- 8hrs, Earns $275, 70xp
The Guinea Pig Rescue Center is in your Inventory! (Woo-hoo free building!!) Requires Level 5, Earns $200, 20xp every 12hrs. And it’s 10×10 in size. Takes 24hrs to build.
Lisa: The guinea pigs look so happy! And only a couple of them have bumblefoot or slobbers.
Homer: “Bumblefoot or the slobbers?” What are those?
Lisa: Guinea pigs diseases. But not to worry, I don’t think humans can get them…Dad, you tripped! Are you okay?
Homer: Yea, that’s weird — my foot suddenly doesn’t fit in my shoe. And I’m drooling like crazy.
Lisa: Oh, Dad, Pokey the guinea pig is looking at you! Can I please adopt him?
Homer: *slobbering no*
Lisa: Please, please, please, please….?
Homer: *unintelligible slobbers*
Lisa: That’s great, but I wanted a guinea pig.
That completes the Episode Tie-In Main Questline.
Other new stuff this update brought…unfortunately this stuff isn’t free.
PREMIUM ITEMS:
Pokey the Guinea Pig- 40 donuts, non-playable character. Part of the more pets and animals character collection.
Strupo Statue– 20 donuts, Adds a .50% bonus to all cash and XP, Requires Level 5. 2×2 in size. Pretty tall. Can be placed on the grass, beach, pavement or boardwalk.

I also have the glitch now. Tried uninstalling all devices. It happened when I opened my town on a different device to the one that did the first guinea pig task

building the guinea pig rescue center now! it’s cute! For now I’m putting it next to Dr. Hibbert’s practice – I thought it would go well there, but now I’m liking the idea of putting it in a more wooded area. We’ll see. I would need to buy more land for that though…

Saying that, I’m glad that EA gave us The Guinea Pig Rescue Center free and not the other way round… I can live with having the Centre without a guinea pig… 🙂
I am having the same issue: pt. 1 of the guinea pig quest restarted but I can’t complete it because there are no guinea pigs. (I completed part 1 early this morning.). I have no clue what to do. I will be bitter if I miss out on something. Help!

I actually really don’t want to tap on the guinea pigs. They’re so cute scurrying about!
In my A game…I am letting them roam free. Lol.
I’m confused. I tapped on 38 of them and saw two of them scampering around. However I got the completion thing for part one and the guinea pig icon vanished. And part two never kicked off. Is it supposed to auto start or did I do something wrong?
Homer starts part 2, is he currently free in your town?
He wasn’t but I stored the race track and set him free. I didn’t realize he needed to be available. Thanks

They disappear as soon as you tap that last one. I just know due to I had 39/40 and still a handful all over running around.
Does Lisa have to be free to start this? I’ve logged in and out a million times since this morning! Frustrated! I’m on my iPad. Ugh!
She shouldn’t have to be free, it should autostart. I’m assuming you’ve hard closed the app too? If you’ve done all of that try restarting your iPad and see if that helps trigger it. 🙂
If I have Lisa currently doing tomorrow’s homework for another quest, that’s one of the tasks you can’t end early because the Simpson House can’t be stored, right? (When I google a variation of the phrase end homework early, I get a lot of parenting blogs with parents complaining about how crazy and hard their kids’ homework is…. so sad!)

You know what? I know we’re really not supposed to do it here I think? But I’m kinda wondering recently in the past like 2 weeks 5 of my regular neighboreeno’s have been inactive? What gives? Could it be bc of the update glitches that weren’t fixed until the other day? How long should I wait until I just say bye bye to them? Bunny or whomever is on 2nite, do u have any advice? I usually only give them a window of about 72hrs if there’s a timed event, sometimes even less. But these were active daily players? Has this happened to others recently?
Okay, nxt question. Got Stampy & a blip came up saying I’d now get 3x the $? On certain buildings? Only if I graffiti my neighboreeno’s still? Or in my own town if someone graffiti’s me, or taps my buildings?? I’m confused bc I don’t see a difference in $ when I tap in mine or my neighbors??
And next question..sorry. Some of my friends opened their Springfields & got 3 donuts the night yesterday, but I didn’t & what was that about???
Finally, should I still vandal my neighboreeno’s if they have Stampy??
Ack! One other thing, sorry again, do you get a lot of experience for building the very expensive, but freemium items like magnifying glass, escalator, zirconia, etc??

As for the players…I give mine more than just a few days. Yes, there are glitches preventing those from playing. Looks like it is mainly the Apple devices. That or someone may be on vacation or at a point they can’t tap for a few days. I always give people a couple of weeks, even then…I wait.
For $$ and the XP…are you looking at the actual amount popping out of the buildings? Like ***$$ and ***XP? If you are tapping fast then leaving, you may not have noticed the change, but it is there.
The donuts are random, so you will never be exact with someone else. They may get lots now, and none later or vice versa. There is absolutely no indication what so ever on how many or how often. Just…random.
I say it is up to you whether you keep tagging them or not. I think it is fun…so I keep doing it.
Easiest way for you to see what XP you get on ANY item is to go to the lil blue italic “i” in the items box. That will pull up all the information on that item, including payouts/XP/bonus multipliers.

Is anyone still getting donuts from the “post-Stampy” deal??? I got four, about one per day but none since Sunday night…
I was starting to wonder the same, but one popped up today, so it appears to still be happening.

(though a rumor and probably because it is what I like to do…it seems graffiti pays them out faster…to me anyway…I could be wrong)

They are very random and only start to appear AFTER you get Stampy.
Five on Monday, none on Tuesday and three yesterday.
Eeeew, ya’ll suck…still no more donuts for me…I guess I could stand to lose a pound or two… 😉
Are you just not seeing them pop out and maybe your count changed? Like my town. Or no changes at all in the numbers?

…but my town sucks right now…and my donut count is never forgotten…I try to leave people’s town with one tap left if there are no paintables…jump up and down and throw things when I tap a paintable but the adjacent building pops…couldn’t “stitch” my town if I wanted to…I’m about 10k, XP away from 3 donuts that will put me at a mere 139 donuts…I’ll be okay… 🙂

i can’t find Lisa. every time i click to do part 2 it goes to tom o’flannagan instead. Searched town and krustyland but i cant find her anywhere. Anyone else have this issue?
She isn’t in the Pub doing the St Patrick’s Day tasks, is she? If you are not sure and she is not showing up, kick her out of the building by storing Tom’s and then replacing it. This will kick any characters doing tasks there out.

yeah she was stuck in pub but not showing up when clicked on it. had to store pub then re-place it. she popped out.
Oh good, I am glad. That is the one thing I like, that if a character is needed for a questline…the game will take you to their location when you tap on the task bar icon. 😉

So I got the update on my iPhone this morning while I was at work (Its great to be the boss) and started the quest line. I got the 40 G-pigs and started Lisa on the 12 hour task. THEEEEEEN I got home and updated the game on my iPad… Lisa was just wandering about in town. I quickly closed my iPad app and reopened my iPhone app, but the quest line restarted with Quimby. Now I have to tap 40 guinea pigs again, but the problem is there are no guinea pigs to tap. None. Nada. Zippo. Zilch. I can’t continue with the quest line at all.
I’ve opened a ticket with EA. They haven’t contacted me yet… It took weeks for them to contact me the last time I had a problem, so i’m not holding my breath.
I reinstalled the app on both devices, but i’m still stuck in guinea pig limbo. This sucks an Olympic sized swimming pool of a**.

Awwww I am sorry you got that glitch. Uninstall and reinstall the app is the best thing. With the Apple devices, you got to make sure you wipe out any and all info you can from the game. Clearing the cookies and cache. Anything you can to eliminate the app from it. Then restart your device to clear out any remnants. Try seeing if you can borrow an Android device from someone and play the game. Sometimes playing from an alternate device can trigger things to kick in. Beyond that…it really is something that EA would have to look into further. Sorry.
I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled on all devices, tried my Kindle, did whatever I could to completely wipe the app from my devices and still nothing. The game is acting like I have to complete the guinea pig quest, but there are no g-pigs roaming about in my town. I’ll just keep my fingers crossed and hope EA contacts me. I’d hold my breath, but i’m afraid i’ll suffocate.
I’m sorry. I wish there was more help I could offer to make it go back to where it was. Just make sure they know you are missing out on the building and other items, in case they need to help you get them. I hope they get back quick too.
No worries, Bunny. I just wanted to vent. I hate knowing I’m going to miss out on something. Especially since I’ve been a faithful player ever single day since I first downloaded this awesome game.
I’m a dyed in the wool premium player that can’t even get a free building…. I want my guinea pig too dammit. Lol!

Same issue here.
It looks to be a sync error when you log into a different device. Have tried uninstalling, clearing caches etc but no joy.
Have logged it with EA but don’t expect it to be resolved until the next update….
When I ad issues during the Kumiko tie-in, EA gave me the character. Don’t be afraid to ask for the center even if the event is over. They have that ability. I’d actually expect them to give it without asking but we all know what assuming does.

I agree! This tie in is way better then the last one! I really hope there is more land coming in the near future, and if there was a way to finally connect my Springfield River to the ocean, that would be the icing on the cake!
I’m with you on this. More land and connect rivers to the ocean. And maybe adding dirt roads!

As strange as it sounds…this one (at least right now) has no impact on the Conform-O-Meter. This could change with a future update, but as of right now…at least what I’m seeing…no impact.
Ok I am still a zillion Frinks points away from Stampy, hardly started part two od the st paddy days quest Lisa hasn’t started dying the beer yet and now guinea pigs running round wild and my falcon is ignoring them?
So do I have time to do GP and finish St Patricks day.

Yes…as long as you’ve started both quests you’ll be good to go. I’m in the same boat. I’m working on Stampy (although i’m a little closer than a zillion away lol) half way through St. Pat’s and just started the piggies. As long as you start all of them, you’ll be in good shape to finish all of them.
However, since the episode tie-in comes with a free building (after part 2), work on that first so you can be certain to get the building before it ends. 🙂
And yea…there will always be people asking about THAT. I’ve got a post coming that handles that very subject 🙂

Alissa if a man said that then that would be just wrong especially on a family site as this. i love this episode tie in and i am curious about that Strupo statue? Looking fwd to Sunday! They threw that Turkey in for free, i do not see why they made the pig a premium tho without tasks or interaction! I have to say that i did enjoy whacking/tapping those lil piggies! 🙂

It said you just need to be at Level 5 game play, so you should be fine even if you do not have him as the dialog from him just auto starts. I had to restart my device to get mine to trigger. So you may want to try that if you haven’t seen it yet.
i also had to reboot my device 🙂

This game is so cool! Love the surprises and free stuff! Keeps it interesting and fun. Gathered all my Guinea Pigs, and am anxious for my building and new critter for my town.
I am hoping for a Whacking Day event as I missed it last year. Any idea if/when we might see that?

Now I’m worried there is some form of war going on between guinea pigs and bunnies if you giggle when they squeak (in pain I’m assuming). Whenever I have visited farms, the guinea pigs and rabbits seem to be living in perfect harmony, please don’t say this isn’t the case!

I brought an end to four Copperheads last summer…

Bit many times but not a rattler…death comes in many ways, had a burning house fall in on me, ran outta air in an underwater cave, struck by lightning at a cookout in front of 30 others…but, no…not bit by a rattler. 🙂
Definitely excited about a new free building. The last episode tie-in was a bit disappointing to me. They had two episodes to pull content from and we got a new crop and an NPC. I guess the new crop is cool for those who like four hour tasks like me but I already had a four hour crop with Witch Marge speeding up silvertounge. The new building looks like it will fit nicely in rural/forest areas. Now if they could just give us dirt paths…
oo dirt paths. So ready for those!! I love the new building. Adds a great feature to the forest section, fits in nicely with Kamp Krusty, Lincoln’s Cabin, Fort Sensible & Brown houses. 🙂
Are these dirt paths really a thing coming on the horizon ? I’m looking forward to replotting my whole springfield if the events would give me a breather. But I will wait even longer if we are getting new roads.
It’s hard to say if they’re coming or not. I think right now it’s just wishful thinking for many of us 🙂

Took me awhile to find all 40 because they disappear behind buildings and houses. I expect house farmers will have some difficulty with this one.
Yah…those that have a TON of roads behind buildings are gonna have to look really hard to find 40.
It helps to go into the move menu and turn off visibility on the houses and decorations. That’s what I did to find the last two scampering around my town.
Yay! 32 guinea pigs caught so far. Lisa is going to have a lot of work haha!

Guinea pigs in the town, questline, and a FREE building? Woo-hoo! For some this might even be better than the St. Patrick’s Day update, since the only freemium content there is a returning item.
Have you noticed that in recent updates, the character icons in the dialogue have a much wider range of facial expressions? In the earlier days of the game it was always one Homer image, one Marge image, and so on. Now we have Homer happy, Homer sad, Homer surprised, and the like. Love the attention to detail by EA here.
I’m loving all of the different facial expressions! Really makes the dialogue pop more 🙂
