In a VERY strange twist…Christmas has hit our devices..at night?! Very odd for EA….
Anyway…currently Christmas is live on iOS, so hit up your App store and download the newest version..
Android users…don’t worry yours should be hitting very soon..you can download the update now!
Kindle users…yours shouldn’t be too far behind Android (I hope). (Any of our Kindle readers…please let us know when the update hits for you) it should be live for you now too! (Thanks guys for the feedback!)
More details as we go through everything…Details below the fold..
For now know that, YES Springfield is covered in snow. And 2 Mayor Quimby gets it started with Auto-start dialogue (Even if you don’t have him). And you’ll be tasked with building the Toy Workshop, which takes 12hrs. Workshop costs $2,000. AFTER you build it…that’s what kicks off the event.
This is also going to run like the Halloween Event. Where you use the workshop to get your prizes. It will be broken into two parts…
Ok guys…there is A LOT to this update. And it’s unlike ANY Christmas event in the past. I’m going to do my best to cover as much as I can in this post. Basically the basics. However, most of the stuff will be broken out into individual posts with more detail over the course of the event.
First little detail…the event is in 2 parts. Part 1 starts now and ends on Christmas Eve (12/24). And Part 2 starts on 12/24 and runs until the end of the event. We’re going to focus ONLY on part 1 in this post, since that’s what hitting now.
(Note: Images are coming…I’m flying solo at the moment so I’m focusing on getting the content up and then will have images up a little later…Update: Bunny is currently working on the rest of the images. It’s now after 1am here…and I’ve got work in the AM. So more details will be up in the morning. For now this should get you through the intro)
Santa has arrived in Springfield! He’s decided to move his Workshop to Springfield…and as mentioned above…your first task is to build the Toy Workshop..
Toy Workshop- $2,000. 12hr Build. 8×12 in size.
The Toy Workshop is the main hub for Christmas.
Christmas WILL NOT start until the Workshop has been built. So you won’t see any new items in the store until AFTER the Workshop has been built.
From the Toy Workshop you can have characters make Toys to generate presents.
So the new currency for this event is…Presents!
Various characters will have the ability to make presents at the Workshop. For starters only Homer and Lisa will have tasks there.
Earn More Presents…
If you have items from Christmas 2012/2013 they can help you earn MORE Presents.
NOTE: These will NOT start right away. Progress through the questline and bit and then the’ll start to generate gifts. In my A game I’m on Jingle Bell Wreck and they’ve started earning presents. ALSO…if they have cash over them already they probably have to be cleared to reset the clock for presents.
If you don’t have these…don’t worry there will be chance to win AND buy these down the road. (Winning is free…buying will cost donuts)
Here’s what helps…
Holiday Tree- 10 Presents/24hrs
Elf House- 5 Presents/10hrs
Present Depot- 8 Presents/4hrs
Now let’s take a look at the new store items…
This WILL have limited-time items …within limited-time items. However…EA learned it’s lesson from Halloween and the items that are super limited have timers on them!

Christmas Volcano Lair- 10 Donuts. Decorations for Hank’s Lair.
Claus Co- 90 Donuts. Earns $300, 30xp/ 12hrs
Egg Nog Bar- 60 Donuts. Earns $105, 11xp/ 3hrs
Santa’s Workshop- 70 Donuts. Earns $135, 15xp/4hrs

King Winter’s Cave- 175 Donuts. Earns 1.5% bonus on all XP & Jobs. Comes with King Winter.
..Does have tasks and a Questline.
After you complete the first task…having Lisa and Homer make toys. You’ll be awarded Ice Princess Martin. It’ll be found in your inventory.
ALSO…after you’ve completed the first toy task and Homer starts pt. 3 of Jingle Bell Wreck…you’ll unlock the ability to place the Elf Cave
Elf Cave- Costs $500. This will give you Elves that will help you make MORE presents. (7×7 in size)
Now…HERE is where it’s like Stonecutters…..
Santa has daily tasks that you MUST complete each day to earn more prizes!
Each day you’ll be tasked with a daily task for Santa (note today there are 2 tunnels to complete). To complete them click view to see more into the tunnel and what you’ll have to complete.
Here’s Tunnel 1:
With Tunnel 1 you can earn:
Homer Fever Snowman
1 Extra Elf (to help you earn more presents)
And 100 Presents!
Complete all tasks in 24hrs to clear Tunnel 1.
Here’s Tunnel 2..
In Tunnel 2 you can win…

Brown House Christmas/Christmas Burns Manor (if you already have Brown House Christmas)
-1 Extra Elf (to help you earn more presents)
And 100 Presents!
Again..you have 24hrs to complete!
Note…you have more than 24hrs to complete and earn the 1st 2 prizes in each one. You have 24hrs to earn the 100 present bonus.
Completing tasks in these tunnels will unlock Apu and Frink’s abilities to make toys..
This is REALLY important: The Clock for 24hrs does NOT start until you’ve started the 1st tunnel task (in that tunnel). So DO NOT STRESS! Your clock will start when you’re ready to start it.
Also..the first set of tasks are really short and you’ll complete them in less than 6hrs. So don’t stress & don’t spend donuts!
Remember…there’s NO TIME LIMIT on getting the prizes. If you don’t complete it in 24hrs the only thing you’ll miss is the 100 present bonus. But you’ll still be awarded the prizes. So don’t stress over it!
Visiting Neighbors…
AFTER Part 9 of Jingle Bell Wreck…THAT’S the optimum time to visit your neighbors. At that point you’ll unlock the ability to send Feds to your neighbors towns and earn more gifts!
Tap the Fed Button in the top right corner to send them in your friends towns..
You can either tap on the presents on their own….OR use the Fed Button. You can only do either or. If you use the Fed Button you’ll earn bonus currency.
Questline…
After part 11 of Jingle Bell Wreck you’ll basically finish the main questline for now and see this popup….
Then you’ll get this task…
After you complete this task you’re out of tasks until Part 2…

Frosty the Hitman- 1200 Gifts
Toy Workshop Bell- 2300 Gifts
Sponsored Church- 3500 Gifts
Festive Light Plunger- 5500 Gifts

What happens when you collect all the prizes?
Well….you can earn donuts!!!
I’m not quite there yet…but my guess is once you’ve collected 2,000 you’ll get a game similar to the Bonus Level Up game.. I will keep you posted

I’v been playing this game for a while now. I’v had several surgeries and this has kept my mind busy. But I’m still learning. Is there some kind of a chat site or something where I can find neighbors and get tips?

Donuts are earned at various stages in the game. You’ll get them for leveling up, maxing out your levels, maxing out your friend points and other ways.
How do you answer the question about the couch scene in sundays episode? ?

Hope everyone is having as good a time playing as I am. I’m hoping to see more Feds in my town, so far I only have 3 neighbors leaving them. I know it takes a while to get to part 9 so I’ll be patient a little while longer. I’m maxed out on neighbors and I am leaving Feds even after maxing out on gift actions. My message to my fellow tappers- Don’t be a Grumple- leave Feds for all!!
I’m on jingle bell wreck pt 10. Still no Feds icon. The previous quest that told me to tap 3 feds is still up. I have 2/3. But it went on to the next part without letting me finish the initial Feds quest. Now there are no Feds in my town, I’m still at 2/3, santa is tellin me to drop Feds on a friend. No fed icon pops up to fulfill that quest.
Super frustrating. Feels broken.

I’m already finishing part 10 of the Jingle Wreck, although I have the “send Feds task” on my task book the Feds button doesn’t show on my game. Has anyone else had this problem?
Should show on your neighbor screen. If it doesn’t you may have maxed out your actions for the day. Let your timers reset back to 3 actions and see if they appear then.
Remember..it’s either or with the Feds. You can either leave 3 feds and get presents and your neighbor gets presents. OR you can tap presents and you get a present and your neighbor gets none.
Does anyone know of a fix for the ipad crashing problem? I updated and played with no problems but today it suddenly started crashing before it can synchronise. I’ve turned my ipad on and off and uninstalled and reinstalled but it hasn’t made a difference. It’s getting really annoying 😔

We’ll have Should I buys coming soon. I must admit to getting him. Not to steal Alissa’s thunder but I would say wait since Homer is needed for his quest and is heavily involved in daily tasks and the regular questline also.

when you get the Toy workshop bell Homer has a 4 hr task to do….he’s a busy guy this update…..do I need to do it now or can I wait…

I know I have nearly 130 characters. It would be nice if Homer could have some free time. Today I needed him for the bell, the main questline, the winter King and the tunnel prize. I’ve gotten the doughnut torture device and can’t wait to use it a second time. Been waiting nearly a month and a half
Problem is, EA has to keep critical (questlines) tasks down to those characters that most people, even relative newbies, might have, or those folks wouldn’t be able to get anywhere in the event. But, yes, I’d love to be able to send Ralph and Freddy Q. out on tasks all the time instead of Homer, because those are two of the most annoying characters I have lol!
I understand that with the seasonal event but he was heavily involved with the King Winter quest which you have to be at a certain level to acquire so more characters would be available
FYI for anyone’s who’s interested… I accidentally sent Apu to make something in the toy works for four hours, so I tried storing my first Kwik-E-Mart to dump him out of that task. Even though I got the usual message that Apu would be stored, he wasn’t — he stayed right in the toy workshop and didn’t budge from there even after I took the Kwik-E-Mart out of storage and put it back. (Hmmm… I didn’t try storing ALL of the Kwik-E-Marts….I wonder if that’s why he didn’t actually leave the workshop?)
Guess I’ll just let him finish his task there, as it doesn’t look like I’m going to need him for an event task during that time, and I don’t want to try storing the whole toy shop and losing the elves’ progress on their tasks, etc.
So, just be careful about accidentally standing Apu to the workshop, because it appears to be difficult to undo that mistake!
Same thing happened to me. I only have two KwikEMarts and I put them both in storage and when I put the first one back down he came out of the Toy Store
Thanks! I wondered if maybe I would have too store all of my Kwik-E-Marts, and it sounds like the answer is “yes.” Unfortunately, I just did it again this morning (Must. Tap. Slower!), but I think I’ll wait and see if he’s needed for anything before I try to dump him out of the toy shop.
I just wanted to remind everyone you can see what the daily tasks are in game. When you go to the tunnel the first task is ready but the others are quite readable. I know Ned is up later so I didn’t him snowmobiling today. If you want to know how long the tasks are you’ll have to come here, but since the first one was 4 hours I sent everyone on 4 hour tasks, then I don’t have to worry.

Yeah, he should start walking the streets of Springfield after you get the message saying you got him, and I believe you have to touch him as a minor task, but he should be there. Or, if something weird happened, he might be in your inventory…though that’s unlikely.
Hope you find him, if not write them ASAP, they’re usually good with problems and fixing them. Good luck!

Long time Tappers do have certain advantages (we got Items from previous Xmas Quests that generate Presents & previous Decorations), but please stick around long enough? You will be rewarded similarly. 🙂
Santa Quests in the Elf Caves mean you got to keep certain Springfield Characters available (to complete Daily Quests). When a Character isn’t required (or isn’t doing a Wreck The Halls Quest), if that Character can earn Presents doing a Task? Please take advantage of that and have a nice weekend.

I have a question. How come I don’t get presents when I visit all my friends? Do they have a cut off? I visit 15 friends and I get presents after that, all I get is money and a friend point. Is this normal or is there a glitch in the game that I should be reporting? If you could let me know that would be great. Thank you.

From past experience, do you think the snow will stay all winter, or end with the Christmas event?
It’s really pretty, but it’s harder to decorate with trees and such and see what you’re getting and it’s cold in my house, so looking at all that snow and listening to the wind howl just makes me feel colder LOL! (Too bad I don’t live in Australia… It would be such a refreshing view if I were sweltering in the heat! 😉 )

Just tried again and it’s now going to the loading screen but can’t connect to the server so basically it’s doing what it was just before I uninstall nd reinstalled not good during an event..
Could be just a rush to the game.
I was playing like an hour ago now tried to play and wouldn’t connect to server so I uninstall then reinstall now it just shows the fox screen then says tsto has stopped. Iv had it say tsto has stopped working before loads times but can get rite back on but now jus says its stopped 😔
I finally got some Feds from a friend! Problem is, I can’t see who sent them. I like to return the favour to neighbours who send me good stuff, but EA wasn’t thinking when they put white wording on white snow. Do you know where I can go on the EA site to make suggestions? I’ve tried to find something but have been unable to. They say to post on their Facebook page, but there’s no option to write on their wall.
I also want to make another suggestion to them. I think it’s really cool that we can play with people all over the world. But I want to see where my friends are from. So I’m hoping EA will add flags so we can put them in our towns to show what country we’re from.

We don’t but a lot of this stuff is last years. Just use the search bar on the main page and put in the keyword of the item. Or, check our premium page link.
Any other decorations coming back this year from previous. ..I.E. wooden snow angels, festive lamp posts etc?

I don’t know about anyone else but I was hoping to be able to collect some reindeer this Christmas. I started tapping in January and didn’t get the chance to experience last year’s Christmas. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love love love this Christmas update but a few reindeer would fit nicely into my town 🙂

That means you may need to purchase the areas before you get to that section first. As you buy a plot, the ones next to it will open to buy as well.

Hey Addicts, my comment in reply is still showing awaiting moderation.
After working out contacting EA because of my game issues, I have now been able to get in. Lucky for me I was still able to get the bonus present’s from tunnels 2 & 3. I had about 40 mins left on the timer. Im on android & still experiencing a few server connect issues.
Just wanted to make sure to again state how much I appreciate the hard work you all put into this site. Any questions I have had with the game, reading your posts & the comments always provides the answer & help’s to enjoy the game.

Just wondering if anyone else is having slow loadings when visiting neighbors after the update. Mines taking forever to load between neighbors. I even reset my IPad and that didn’t help.
