Before we get into the Open Thread, a quick note. I’m off in Virginia today celebrating my nephew’s 3rd Brithday. So there won’t be a Should I Buy posted for Big Butt Skinner Balloon. Instead I’ll just give you a quick rundown on the important details…it’s a decoration and you guys know when it comes to decorations I have a hard time telling you what you should or shouldn’t get. It’s a personal preference kinda thing. Anyway, here’s the basics…
Conform: Vanity +400
Bonus %: 2% Bonus on all cash and XP
Can be Placed: Springfield, Squidport and Krustyland
Size: 2×2
What Does it Do: floats, but does not get airborne (it’s tied down). When tapped it makes an air being let out of a balloon noise. And when you buy it Skinner says “this is the worst thing to return to Springfield since my mother.” Beyond that, nothing else. I’m probably passing on this one. It’s a little to pricey for what it does and the bonus % it gives. (Usually 40 donuts gets you 2%) but if you like it and want it, grab it. That’s why I think decorations are a personal choice….

Anyone have a specific deal breaker/deal maker moment, other than its price or iconic status?
I must say, I am very disappointed in half my friends – even though they play daily or even hourly, they NEVER come visit me. I started keeping track, and 45 of my 100 friends have not visited me in over 20 days, but they ARE active in the game. I can only HOPE they will visit during events! Please visit me!

Huh…. you just got me wondering if all my neighbors actually visit me. I had been getting the feeling they all don’t, guess I’ll track them and see.

Exactly. I visit, and if there is nothing to tap, I move on. Maybe tomorrow there will be something to tap. But I will not comeback, today.
I would say about half my friends have never visited outside of events. It used to annoy me, as I visit everyone daily, but as long as they play the events I keep them around. But when there’s things like seedlings to distribute, i make sure they go to my visiting friends first. Unfortunately a couple of my very diligent visiting friends seem to have quit playing during the Terwillinger event 😢
I’m the same as your inactive friends. I used to visit all my friends every day, but once the events started utilising the “visit friends” function a bit too much it became a bit of a chore and I started to enjoy the downtime in between, so only visit if there’s something to be earned like Friend points. The odd free donut is nice, but quite honestly not worth an hour of my day, and I’m really not sure what other benefits there are to visiting once you’ve got 5 stars and oodles of cash.
When you have a friend, virtual or otherwise, it’s not just about what’s in it for YOU! Your friends benefit from having you visit them. If you can’t be bothered to visit your friends, then perhaps you shouldn’t have any (at least not between events).
I only really visit friends during events and when there are new friendship prizes. The effort is not worth the reward, IMO.
Then perhaps you shouldn’t have neighbors, because you’re cheating them out of the money, XP, and, potentially, FP they could be getting from a replacement neighbor who WILL visit them.
Lots of worth. If you are at a lower level it is the best for racking up FPs and XPs; after maxing out, it is awesome for cash (3x cash) and donuts.
Keep track of this for a week or so. If someone hadn’t visited you in 8 days (which allows for someone who’s been on vacation and didn’t have the time to visit), then dump them and get new neighbors. There are plenty of people out there looking for a good, faithful neighbor like you seem to be!
I’m am totally with you Sandra! This “neighbors” thing is a two way street, it is ment to help *both* parties. I don’t have heeps of game cash burning a hole in my pocket nor do I have loads of real cash to buy donuts, so having helpful neighbors helps. This has been an enlightening post, I am going to start keeping track.

I’m having a few odd things happening today – wondering if others are seeing this, or have seen it before? For one, I’ve had tasks that I complete, but they “freeze” in completed state – shows “Done!”, but won’t let me collect the bonus and remove it from the task list. I’ve been able to resolve this by visiting a friend’s town and going back to mine and it allows me to collect.
The second is really odd. This morning when I was going thru my town and clearing tasks and tapping buildings, I was noticing several characters with task bubbles (‘!”). Somewhere along the line, though, they all disappeared and nobody has any. They didn’t get clicked, because there’s no new tasks in my task list. I almost feel like it happened when I bought my three bonus deals from Gil. I’ve stored and re-added them with not change, and ran everyone thru a 60 min task to see if they came back, but no dice.
Thoughts???
I’m experiencing the first thing you said as well. Came here to look for a solution and to see if anyone else was experiencing the same thing. I guess it’s a glitch?
Also new tasks aren’t popping up for me. People that are supposed to start the dialogue aren’t popping up…
I’m also having the same problem. My tapped out game is stuck…I was able to clear the task and collect the money and xp, but now no new task won’t trigger..

I was fortunate enough to finally get the Shauna character, and I’ve completed the 1st part of ‘Chasing Shauna’, which requires to have a river (done) and an 8-hour task to ‘Make Shauna Tease the Ducks’ (also done).
It still appears on my task list (i.e. no prompt or ‘!’ coming up to move on to part 2), and at first I assumed that it needed a character to start. I’ve made sure that all characters are free except for Mr. Burns with his money-shovelling task (I assume he’s got nothing to do with the quest involving Shauna).
What gives?

Considered nuking, but I’ve just got 5 stars on my conform o meter for the first time in my two years of playing and I want to enjoy it a little while longer. Also, there’s typically bound to be an update if/when I take the plunge!

so happy that i finally got the Duff stadium! i am a freemium player and had amassed 524 donuts over quite some time…i never buy any of the premium items that are a permanent fixture of the store. however, the duff stadium was too cheap to pass up. i was considering the aztec theatre but i was a bit tardy.

I’m working on the 6th iteration of the 7-year itch. I need some baby powder. We just celebrated our 38th – got married at 19 so we are only 57. Our oldest is only 24. We waited 14 years to have children.
Wow – married at 19! Makes it even more impressive that your marriage had lasted as long. It was probably wise not to rush into having kids at that age, but what do I know? My husband and I never had any kids for various reasons.

Am I the only person who intentionally purchased Duff Stadium, even though I don’t have Duffman?
Nope. I purchased it awhile ago, one of my first premium purchases, long before I purchased Duffman. I love baseball (Let’s Go Mets! And my beloved Somerset NJ Patriots!) I needed a stadium in my town and i just love the way it looks! (Though I have to admit, Duffmans task there is icing on the cake!)

The first premium building I bought was the stadium because I love baseball and the mets. During the Christmas sale I got the brewery any I love sending duff man to the stadium. It’s one of my top 5 fav animations in the game.
I very recently got all the land in krustyland and I’m building my own baseball stadium there. It’d be easier in springfield cos of the lack of decos in k-land but it’s making for a fun challenge. The first premium building I bought was duff stadium because I love base ball and the mets. During the Christmas sale I got duff brewery and most the time you can find duffman promoting duff there. It’s in my top 5 fav animations in the game.
Very recently I bought all the land in krustyland and was trying to figured out what to do with all the extra space. I built a theatre(which I seen versions of before) but I wanted something unique or at least something I’d never seen. I was messing around and started building a baseball field. Well, it has into a full fledged stadium with bleachers, snack bars, dugouts, and a scoreboard. I hopefully will be done with it today so I want to post pics on the open thread but don’t know how. Does anyone know how I can add a pic to a reply or post like this. Thanx and have fun.

I don’t have Duffman! I love baseball so I had to have the stadium! I just wish it would animate more often, I love the megatron.

i did the same, and i got no doubts about it. but without being able to task anyone at the stadium to see the awesome animations, i can’t help but look forward to the next time the duff brewery is offered at discount….. if i can even wait that long…….

I bought Shauna using the Gil deal and I thought she would show up automatically. Well she didn’t. I had glanced at the post about a glitch when people bought Jimbo and thought that I was having the problem too. So I used the information that the Addicts supplied to get in touch with EA. This is what I got for a response:
“My name is Orla, I’m a Game Specialist here at EA, and I also work part time for the Springfield Bureau of Trade Practices. I’ve been asked to look into your report that Gil may have shorted you on one of his deals in The Simpsons: Tapped Out..
I’m really sorry to hear that, Gil swears that Shauna didn’t show up in your Springfield because “she’s a teenage delinquent and impossible to manage” , but I’m not sure I’m buying that excuse – if you’ll pardon the pun.
I managed to entice Shauna into your inventory by laying a trail of fresh-baked, pink-sprinkled and delicious premium currency from the Noiseland Arcade to that cardboard box you keep your Springfield stuff in. She’s in there now, ready for you to find her.”
I love the fact that EA has people like Orla that really understand the Tapped Out experience and the characters that make up this fun, although time consuming and mind ruining, awesome game.
That is amazingly awesome! I hope they do a customer service survey at some point, so you can let EA know that customers really appreciate stuff like that.

I watched the Season 4 episode, “Homer the Heretic” and it was fun when Apu went to save Homer from a house fire, and protected Kwik-E-Mart with Little Jamshed, who yielded a shotgun at Kearney, Jimbo, and Dolph, who were shocked by Little Jamshed.
And I also watched Lisa the Beauty Queen, and in the beginning of the episode after the opening sequence, Springfield Elementary School is having its carnival, deemed “The Happiest Place on Earth”. Principal Skinner kicks out Blue-haired Lawyer representing Disneyland and his muscular goons with surprising physical force, and this is where I was saw BHL without his glasses, and surprisingly, he has the same eye size as Milhouse 😀

EA needs to improve their daily bonuses, especially based on your level. Ooooo $1000 for my fourth day. I can have Homer melt snow to make that in a day. Cmon EA, upgrade payouts as your levels increase, just like when buying buildings at higher levels!!
I was wondering if anyone thinks they’ll bring back the candy striped cooling towers this xmas? I had them in 2013 but had to delete my game for lack of storage and didn’t realize I could save it with an Origin ID. They’re the one item I really miss. I kept that skin on year round! Really brightened up the plant lol.

I know were always waiting for more land… But after the event the money mountain and Malibu Stacy imam out of room… I keep everything out and now my town is just cluttered… I had a house farm during the event knowing I would need to tap all day which was smart but now only 5 houses remain due to the lack of room… When we do get land I hope they start to expand both ways
I like this kind of Gil Deals. I bought Otto at the back to school deal last year (including a tether ball), Barney at the sale at the end of last year and now I bought Jimbo and the Aztec Theater. I opened the Mystery Box this morning for my daily login bonus, got 30 donuts and bought Shauna too.
Now I’m hoping for Herb. I’m waiting for him since they released The Homer.
I hope that nothing big drops this week. My 16 year old son is having brain surgery on Wednesday so I will not be playing much, unless I just need a quick distraction. If an event does drop I apologize to my neighbors as I will not be around as much as usual.

With all the cool discounted items being offered I had been torn with saving my donuts, save them for the 4th of July (or whatever the next event will be) or spend them now. As a freemium player I’ve been having a tough time deciding. So I thought I would leave it up to the Golden Scratch-R. I had never bought one before but I figured if I won “big” I would take it as a sign to spend them now. I bought 4 tickets and got 9,9,6, and 12. Not a bad haul but not the big winnings I was looking for to move me to buy anything now though….I might however kick myself later.
I’m at level 53 and I feel like I’m level 10 with as much money I have. I’m on the last level of burns money mountain and it really literally is a money pit. On the plus side, I’ve gotten to level 53 pretty quick and I still need to build Dr Monroe’s building. Maybe by the time I get my money back up, Dr Monroe will be cheaper!

I would love the Monorail… Coincidentally, today marks a related anniversary. On this day in 1959, the first daily operating monorail system in the western hemisphere, opens to the public in Anaheim, California, the Disneyland Monorail System.
Everyone wants the monorail, how is this supposed to work? Everyone would have to either build it on the edges of their town or completely redesign. Also seems like it would block the view of most of yr buildings
Bought the boy, the girl, the camp. Today every dime I make in Springfield buys land.
Now a complaint: It is my current opinion that Matt Groening and his writing staff were hatched from alligator eggs from which they had to slither away quickly lest their mommy and daddy eat them. Men in Tapped Out feed birds sitting down, lounge, sleep, meet, party…what do the women do? Marge walks the streets carrying Maggie for 8 hours without once sitting down. Pregnant Brandine wanders Springfield like the Flying Dutchman never once getting off her feet. Three months of NEVER putting her feet up, getting a baby shower? Treatment of women is monstrous. They are friendless and the only way to relax is with a cigarette or getting their hair done.I want 2, 6, and 8 hour tasks for every female character to be in her own home. Call it ME TIME.
Luann has it the best with all that relaxing in her jacuzzi suit!
…and only one child who was as screwed-up as possible by First Grade; nothing left to do but attend to her own affairs. 😯

Marge has at least one task in her town, but it’s cleaning house…not exactly relaxing! However, Mindy does get to hang out at Moe’s for 8 hours and lie out on a lounge chair tanning herself for 12 hours (though I’m guessing that, in a few years, she’s gonna need to visit Dr. Hubbard to treat her melanoma….).
I can only imagine how difficult it is for Marge to put on her witches costume and stir the pot for 12 hours. Her feet must be killing her. I always send her on victory laps the next day to enjoy herself and take the pressure off her toes. My grandmother always told me to take care of our feet.

I work Witch Marge very hard overnight with the stirring and then two 4-hour stints speeding up crops. So, in the time between the crops and the overnight pot stirring, I turn her back onto regular Marge and let her have a nice 2-hour dinner at The Truffle, even though I lose money doing that. Isn’t it funny how easy it is to become empathetic towards our characters?
Don’t forget my favorite- her mowing down pedestrians on her motorcycle (also why I want Father Sean so bad) Happy Anniversary Sandra! 29 years, Wow!

btw for what it’s worth… agnes feeds birds sitting down for 1 hr, marge and edna can dine at the truffle for 2 hrs, patty naps on a bench for 4 hrs, bernice shops at the banana dictatorship for 6 hrs, janey play on her laptop while sitting on a bench for 8 hrs, martha quimby goes on a shopping binge for 8 hrs, lisa hosts a peace fest for flanders and sits down at the outdoor feast table for 10 hrs, mindy works on her tan for 12 hrs, luann relaxes in a jacuzzi suit for 12 hrs, princess penelope plays poker for 24 hrs, kumiko can watch monkey trauma center marathon in the simpsons house for 24 hours of me time, and these are only the ones i came up with off the top… just sayin!

I just wanted to ask people from all round the world how much the Golden-Scratch-R’s are for them? Because they’ve recently gone up to £0.79 in the UK instead of 69p. Am I right in thinking they cost $0.99 in the U.S? Because even 69p made then more expensive in Britain as the current conversion rate is .64p to the dollar.
In the UK, the price listed already includes the 20% VAT. In the US, prices shown are not inclusive of tax. Additional tax will be added based on where digital goods are taxable.
In my country, Golden Scratch-R is costs me 267 HUF (0.963069 USD, 0.618938946 GBP) including the 20% VAT.
I’m in the US and this was the first time I’ve ever bought the Golden Scratch tickets. For me they were $0.99 plus $0.09 for taxes.

From what I’ve read, it appears that your higher prices are due to additional taxes, etc. on iTunes and other app markets…it’s definitely not an EA thing.
I’m in the UK too and noticed just yesterday that a stack of 60 donuts has risen in price from 2.99 to 3.99 – that is a crazy increase and way above inflation. I usually rely on credit from Google survey rewards to buy donuts and I now feel very defeated that it’ll take so much longer to build up enough credit for another stack. I understand this is how EA funds the game, but such disproportionate price hikes are a real bummer.
Nicola – It’s my understanding that the price increase you’re seeing isn’t EA’s fault, it’s coming from your app market.
Exchange rates can vary……you wouldn’t want EA to lose out !😀
I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago…I noticed the price went up to 79p and was mumbling to myself, then got 50 donuts so it was OK

I am going to make an assumption that you are using an apple device. Apple put up all prices recently in the UK, but the prices remained the same on Android devices
I just paid $1.25 in Canada. Pricey if you only get 9 donuts, but I scored 50 so I won’t complain.
For me they cost .99 USD plus .06 sales tax for a total of $1.05.
As far as next week goes I’m certain there isn’t going to be a new event ea is probably just hold out for the Fourth of July. BUT!! I do think a new level is going to come out. Bring in on level 54!!! Any suggestions one who/what it’s going to be????? And is this “Pride Month” really over… I hope not! Also always fingers crossed for Maggie. But I feel like if she ever joins the game she’ll be a premium! Well there’s my rant.
Not quite time for level 54. I am 60% of the way to reaching new donuts with bonus points. Usually, I get new donuts and then some before a new level is introduced. After July 4th event, then a new level

BodyByCoors, Thank you SO much for that screen shot. Unlike most premium purchases which give you a shadow preview of the item in your town before you’re asked to hit Confirm to spend donuts, this one doesn’t preview for me.
I don’t mind the price but I really won’t spend without seeing the size. I’ll probably add it.
I’m really on the fence about Duff Stadium. Please share your opinions about having it in your town. Btw, Duffman and the Duff Brewery isn’t at the top of my list of Premium purchases, but will get them eventually.

I got the Duff Stadium when it first came out (Whacking Day 2013 maybe? I don’t remember when exactly). It’s pretty big, and Duffman is the only character with a regular task there. If I hadn’t gotten for free as an event prize, I wouldn’t spend donuts on it, but that’s just me.
I’m confused by one thing in my game. Homer has a 1hr task called “Hide”. It’s sitting at the top of his list of tasks but is white – and has been done more than once. I only have Burns’ money mountain as an active ‘quest’ so I’m at a loss to explain this task. Any ideas?

I noticed that also. One of his quests during the Sideshow Bob event was to “hide” so I’m guessing they added that as a 60 minute quest, I dunno.
I think it is part of a Money Mountain level. There was a dialogue at the beginning, then Homer hid for an hour and Smithers had a 24-hour task too. I remember because after Smithers had done that once I accidentally sent him on it again because it was at the top of the list when I was sending everyone one 1-hour jobs to get back on my usual 4-hour shifts.
I really wanted to buy this but I just can’take justify only a 2% bonus for that many donuts. I have purchased everything else during the sale that except for big butt skinner and Kamp Krusty.
