Unemployment Job Manager is Here! (ie A Send All Characters on a Task Button!)

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

We’ll you’ve been asking and asking and asking for it…and it’s FINALLY here!  A send all characters on a task button!

As many of us suspected, the task update yesterday was preparation for this new feature in the game.  And now you can finally send ALL your characters on a task at once!

Kirk will kick things off for you and the Office of Unemployment is the hub for everything…

More details below the fold…

As mentioned above Kirk will get this started…

Between Jobs Pt. 1
Kirk starts

Unemployment Worker: ID and social security number please.
Kirk: I’ve actually got both, now that the criminal who stole my identity gave them back.
Unemployment Worker: Oh! Mr. Van Houten.  You can just skip the line thanks to your frequent visitor status.
Kirk: That’s ok.  When you’ve got nothing but time on your hands, waiting in line is like a vacation with a purpose.
Unemployment Worker: That’s the saddest thing I’ve ever heard and I work at the unemployment office.  And moonlight at the suicide hotline.
Kirk: You do?  Tell Gary I said hello!  And I’ll be speaking with him soon!
Unemployment Worker: So do you want a job?  I’ve got chicken sexer, roadkill cleaner, virtual gold farmer…
Kirk: Right now I was kind of just hoping for a hug.
Gil: If he isn’t taking it, I’ll take that virtual gold farmer job.  Maybe then ol’ Gil’s virtual wife will stay faithful.
Squeaky Voiced Teen: I’ll take the roadkill cleaning job.  After working at Krusty Burger, it’ll be nice to see where our meat comes from.
Kirk: Wow, I didn’t realize that I wasn’t the only unemployed loser out there.  Why is all of Springfield looking for a job?
Homer: Some people are just too lazy to tap a few buttons.  Not me — I trained a monkey to push buttons for me!  He’s my boss now.

Now to do this you head over to the Office of Unemployment Building in your Springfield and tap on it.  Just like Town Hall you’ll see characters doing tasks, if they’re there, the payout time for the building, and an option with a green button:

2015-09-24 13.40.36

When you click “Go” it will bring up all the options at the Unemployment Office:

Job manager 1

Now this is from my personal game.  As you can see I already have most of my characters on 4hr tasks for today (the rest are doing stuff for SH).  So here’s a look at how it will look if you don’t have characters on tasks (this is from one of my lower level games, so i don’t have quite as many characters):

jobmanger2

As you can see it will COST money to use this feature.  The cost (in green) will vary based on how many characters you have (just like the payout and XP).  The more characters you have the higher the cost, but the bigger the payout.  The less characters the lower the cost etc.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: IF a character has a task in yellow (ie from a questline you’re playing out) they will NOT get sent out on the jobs via the Job Manager.  So if you have a character that has to do a quest for a task in the task book/questline they won’t be included in the characters that get sent out.

BUG ALERT: This does not send ALL characters.  I just tested it again and it left 46 characters off of the 1hr task auto send.  Those characters are (for me anyway):
Apu, Barney, Bart, Brockman, Bumblebee Man, Cletus, CBG, Database, Dolph, Dr. H, Dr. Nick, Duffman, Eddie, Fallout Boy, Fat Tony, Gino, Grampa, Greta, Helen, Hugo, Janey, Jessica, Jimbo, Kang, Kearney, Kirk, Lampwick, Lisa, Lou, Luigi, Marge, Matt, Michael, Milhouse, Mr. Burns, Mrs. K, Nelson, Otto, Rod, Shauna, Sherri & Terri, Sideshow Mel, Snake, Todd, Uter & Wiggum.

Not sure if this is how it’s supposed to work, or if there’s a reason those characters were left off….we’ll have to so some investigatng.

When the jobs are complete you will still have to go around and clear each Thumbs Up, just like before.

Between Jobs Pt. 2
Kirk starts

Kirk: I’m used to paying for a lot of things: hair plugs, girdles for men, my child’s love. But did I just pay to go on a job?
Unemployment Worker: Oh you actually noticed….Sending someone on a job means a lot of paperwork, which we pay people to do, but then there’s paperwork for hiring them, and you see how this goes. So we deduct a portion of your income to pay for our administrative fees.  It doesn’t cost you anything…except for money.
Send All Characters on a 4hr Job

And there you have it my friends….the details behind the new Job Manager!

What are your thoughts on the new feature?  Are you have to have a “send all” button?  Wish we had a “collect all” button to clear those tasks quicker?  Thoughts on having to pay for the jobs?  Sound off in the comments below you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you THANKYOU.😃

  2. how are u guys getting this? The building on my game does nothing at all.

  3. For those of you concerned about the maths, it is a matter of perspective. At over 100 characters and especially with the slow visitor tapping, i was starting to use 24 hour tasks exclusively, which resulted in an unplanned pregnancy and not much fun from the characters. For 100 characters, after the UO fee, I would get 55890 dollars (70800 before the fee). Now if I visit my town 16 times (16 * 7080 – fee) to set all the characters on 1 hour tasks plus an 8 hour task overnight, I earn 124025 dollars after the fee. So if you want to spend the same amount of time as you currently are using to send each character on a task, but spread it out over the day, you can earn up to 75% more dollars I may have the maths slightly wrong, such as 1 one hour task too many per day or the percentage, but the idea is that you still get out what you put in. Therefore, I do not see these two mass functions as the beginning of the game’s end.

    • I was thinking along the same lines. With so much grinding for the Monorail my other characters were either on long tasks or even just idle. This will enable me to earn more by sending all on shorter tasks. I can still manually send some characters on favorite outdoor animations, seems like a big win to me. Can’t wait to see what new tasks for characters are outdoors.

  4. 27 characters not sent on the hour task, could be more but I have the heights and monorail working too. Other than that, very cool.

  5. Personally, I feel as though this may be the proverbial nail in the coffin.. Sure it may seem cool for a day or so.. Then what? The whole aspect and point of the game is in the title, with this new, essentially, auto play button, it take the purpose out of the game. It like us having an auto drive feature in Forza. Sure, you can still design your town, unless of course you are a farmer and just throw your buildings anyway.. And I’m sure many will say.. You don’t have to use it..and that to an extent is true. Still some features that are requested should never be brought to fruition, and I can’t help but think this May be a step towards tapped outs downfall.. New players especially may get bored with this command point, but hey.. What do I know. Sad face.

    • New players can’t use this feature till they unlock the unemployment centre so they can’t use it till level 37

    • My thoughts exactly! This new feature kind of defeats the purpose of the game.

    • New players would be foolish to use the job manager… New players need to earn as much cash as they can get and don’t have so many characters that manually sending them on jobs is onerous. But when you get to the point where you have over 100 characters, and don’t like to tie them up with 24-hour tasks (and lose a lot of XP by doing so), then this feature becomes a godsend. Also, we have the recycle center and Springfield Heights to use to get our tapping fix!

I was hearing more people threaten to leave from the boredom of having to send a bazillion characters on tasks at least a couple of times a day than I suspect we’ll hear from people threatening to leave because they’re bored because they don’t have to tap as much to send their bazillion characters on tasks. But I guess only time will tell!

  6. It didn’t send any (most?) of my kids on tasks, but I guess that makes sense, since an unemployment office wouldn’t provide jobs for kids…

    • Were you doing eight hour? They all have the six hour go to school task that prosit kills it. Store the school and try again.

  7. I discovered that some of the characters can’t be sent on jobs because the place they need may not be available. For example: If you only have 1 bench in your town there will be several characters that won’t be able to do their 4-hour task because they all can’t use the same bench. You will need to add more benches to accommodate all the characters that need them, or just send them on lower or higher timed tasks instead.

    • I assume that also goes for buildings that you may have in storage. If the buildings are not in your town the characters probably can’t be sent to do their task there.

      • This isn’t true for me. All of my characters can do their tasks, but I always get 5-10 left behind. i.e. if I want everyone on an 8 hour task I use the ‘send all’ function, then have to cycle through each character left behind to choose the 8 hour task. I think it’s just a bug as mentioned in this article.

  8. What I.R.S building???

  9. Hey, it works somewhat well. Even ninety percent is good with me.

    Expatrie-

  10. What about characters with premium skins? Like characters with Stonecutters tasks that get a premium rate? Seems like you have to do those characters manually, which kind of defeats the purpose.

    • If they’re in that skin that’s the job they’ll be sent on. The game won’t automatically pick the premium skins for you. You have to decide which characters you want in which skins.

  11. IRS Building quest just showed up in my game!

  12. Oh man, and now the IRS is here!

  13. My game keeps crashing :'( and its only started since the unemployment office update. Not a happy tapper!

  14. I haven’t had the bug. It works perfectly for me. Also, the other side of this that we’ve been wanting just dropped in my game! A Collect Al function!l

  15. Eh, the cost is too high for my liking, so I doubt I’ll be using this feature any time soon. As for a “collect all” button, that just circumvents the games primary mechanic.

  16. This is going to be GREAT, especially when I’m at work and I want to update everyone’s job 😉 I’m very happy to have this feature. I feel like it takes me longer to send people on jobs than collect all the money, but a feature to collect all the money at one time would be nice too, eventually. I’m happy with this feature though 🙂

  17. For what it’s worth, when I did the 1hr it sent everybody except for Mrs. Lovejoy (I don’t have Shorty’s). At the time I had pretty much all of the Springfield Heights / Recycling characters already doing those tasks (and Akira working on bonsai). I’ve got most of the characters in the “bug list” and they went okay. I was wondering if the issue has something to do with which skin is currently selected for the characters, but many of the ones in the list don’t have skins. Hmm…

And as I’m sure people have noticed, the IRS questline just started!!!

  18. Yay the IRS building has arrived!

  19. Just a note, although this may be obvious to some/most, even though it sends characters on jobs, it doesn’t set the farm, KBBL, or Channel 6 Studio building tasks.

    • Good reminder. I keep noticing that but still forget to actually set them! That’s going to take some getting used to.

  20. Working perfectly in my game and I love this. This is making the game so much easier and better. I’ve been wanting this for a while and it is perfect! I was very excited when the task showed up this morning.

  21. Interesting observation.

I sent everyone on hour long tasks, then went through the rest manually.

Every single one was in a costume that had a task less than 60 minutes. But homer had already gone on a task, I had put him in a costume that’s shortest task was 60min.

CBG was still roaming sing so I switched his outfit, and suddenly he was eligible to be sent via unemployment office.

And my math showed between 17.5 and 17.9 percent of the reward dollars in payment. I’m wondering if you are just paying a flat fee per character per hour making premiums a bit better of a deal. I’ve seen others sang closer to 20%, but I’ll wondering if maybe I have a lot more premium characters and outfits than them.

  22. Seems like when i send a group on their jobs the game gets very slow/laggy for a good duration.i hope they work out something. Its not as efficient as it should be!

  23. Glitches glitches glitches. Only half of my characters went for their one hour tasks. So far I am not impressed.

  24. Sent mine on 12hr, did it for 51 chars but manually had to send rest (70+). Is this right a bug?

    • Or a bug *

    • We think it’s a bug as indicated in the post

      • Thanks for replying Alissa, top job as always. Apologies, I read the post earlier and didn’t re-read before asking my question. I’m grateful for all the help you guys provide and I don’t know how you manage to find the time! Cheers.

      • Ah. That bug confused me. It made me think i wasn’t using the feature right.

The next thing i want to try out is if the game sends characters in their default outfits’ tasks or what they are currently wearing. This is because I would rather have Burns do a UBO task and otherwise Stonecutters’ tasks so they all finish at the same place.

  25. Ehh! Not a terrible feature but im under the impression that they hurried it into our games or something cause it lacks a sense of completion and seems like it should do more than send people on tasks. It would be nice if it would clear all jobbers as well.

  26. That is cool !!! Thanks EA

Can I please ask for another feature….

Oh wait we are Homer’s boss right….sky finger says “COLLECT ALL” button.

Sky finger has asketh so sky finger shall receiveth….

    Lol !!!!

    🙂

    • OMG !!! this is freakin AWESOME !!!!! I am on my way to unlocking the new IRS building. dialogue is about collecting money much easier. I60 minute task to go and I think I can “COLLECT ALL”

Sky finger has asketh so sky finger shall receiveth….

  27. Too bad it doesn’t specify if It’s an outside task vs inside

    • Agree, I like to see my characters so sometimes someone will be on a 24, some on 12, etc. just so I can see them

  28. I LOVE IT!!! Thank you for this new feature. We have been waiting for something like this 🙂 TAPPED ADDICT!! <3

  29. Here’s a thought. In my game, it looks as though the characters that were not sent out on their 60-minute tasks were those that have shorter tasks available (6s, 45s, 5m, 10m, 30m, etc.). Could the OoU be sending out characters only for whom 60m is their shortest task?

  30. I would rather it be able to find all the characters on completed jobs. Assigning jobs is easy with that button in the upper left, but I always seem to miss a few people who were done. It’s a useful new feature, of course, I just wish it included am way too find those last stragglers.

    • Yeah, I hate the tasks that walk around but don’t stick to the roads. Miss at least one every time.

If I’m clearing everyone I scan city hall, but really wish we could sort city hall by time till compete with those that are done popping to the top.

    • You can use town hall for that. What I would do is collect everyone I could find, and then scroll through the census to see if anyone didn’t have a “Waiting for a task to do” message. (Of course, that only works if you generally send all of your characters to do the same length task at the same time.)

      • I don’t send them on the same task lengths. I usually just send them on tasks I like the animation for. (This can include a building animation.) So I have groups that are 8, 12, 16, 24 hour, and then there’s a couple on 6 hour, and then of course there are now the ones I need for Springfield Heights and/or monorail jobs. So no, town hall doesn’t always do the trick, sadly. Being able to sort city hall but time left would be fantastic!
