Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
We’re nearing the end of Act 1 and preparing for Act 2 to start tomorrow, but something else restarted today…the Shopkeeper’s Challenges!
So let’s take a look at what you’ll need to do for 5 days during week 2 to earn bonus crafting currency and 20 bonuts!
Sorry these weren’t up before today’s task started, but I like to just double check with what the files are saying and what my game shows. Just as an extra “ok it’s on track”.
Here’s what the Shopkeeper has in store for us this week…
And when you complete them all within the week you’ll earn 20 bonuts!
Remember all new tasks unlock at 8am your local time….
A Note About the Hugo Challenge (Tuesday, Day 2):
Today’s (Tuesday) Shopkeeper Challenge is:
A LOT of you are getting confused because it says make S’mores..and s’mores are no longer available as a currency in the game. HOWEVER…this is simply telling you to have Hugo do the task of “making s’mores”, i.e. Roasting them at the campfire (since that task box says “send youngsters to make s’mores”). So simply do Hugo’s task there and it will clear this task for you.
I promise it’s that simple and it’ll work. Don’t over think this (or any other aspect of this game) it’ll just give you a headache…
And there you have it my friends, the challenges to earn you 20 bonuts during week 2!
What are your thoughts on the Daily Challenges? Did you earn your 20 bonuts last week? Think you’ll get there again this week? Ready for Act 2 to start tomorrow? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

I LOVE THESE !!!!!
These are task you are doing anyway and there is a huge time frame to do them.
So much better than those doopy “send four goofs to do………………”
When act 2 starts, will there be new currency? Should I craft items with my excess eggs, brains, etc or should I hold onto them for phase 2? Any thoughts?
S’mores will be replaced. Crafting currency (ears, eggs, etc) will nto be. So don’t worry about using the crafting currency up…
Pity we did not get the shopkeeper too.
Tiny question, when you hit the 4500 items (is it still that or did that change?) do you get like a warning message? Thanks!
You should still see the warning message.
Ok thanks!
I am not going to get enough Smores to finish the act 1 prizes, I am on the portal, the last one. Will I be able to craft this later on or am I losing it forever? It is currently at around 400 donuts for me to purchase…
I am really having a hard time earning smores I think I must be doing it wrong. We don’t get them from friend visits so I am not sure what I am doing wrong other than not playing constantly. Real life invades ya know.
It doesn’t look like it. From what I can tell, and most likely suspect, you’ll be able to purchase any Act 1 prizes you didn’t get for donuts once act 2 starts. So collect as many s’mores as you can, because the more you have the lower the required donut amount will be.
Are you guys going to make a should I buy on the returning items? I bought the pet cemetary, mausoleum, and the raven and I love them. But I’m wondering if the donut torture device is worth 80 donuts?
Nope…we’ve got all the details for each item laid out on the site. The Donut Torture Device, while not a premium, has all the info on it in the prize post for it. Honestly, it’s not worth the donuts in my opinion. But that’s just what i think…
http://tstoaddicts.com/2014/10/15/thoh-probe-prizes-breaking-down-the-donut-torture-device/
Thanks. I think I’ll pass. The animation looks awesome, but 80 donuts for just one task and no multiplier is a lot.
Yup, like i said..not worth it. Especially when the 1 task is 36hrs and doesn’t pay premium
Nope, not worth it. It has an amusing animation, but it takes Homer out of the game for 36(?) hours. I got it for free and enjoy having out sticking out behind my Stomach Staple Center, but no way would I ever pay 80 donuts for it!
Way to go EA. Love the free bonuts. And to Wookie, Bunny & Allissa, great work. Love reading comments & finding answers.
So basically, apart from ‘Craft a Prize’, to win 20 donuts I just have to keep playing exactly as I have been. OK, I can do that.
Thanks EA! 😀
Yep !!!
Woo Hoo !!!!
I have to kinda agree with a couple people here as far as the end of the game being upon us. Maybe not very soon but within the year.(sadly) EA has lost so many customers and money due to stupid @%# game hackers who feel things should juzt simply be free!! And it is getting worse! More and more people steal stuff via a hack each day. Its like downloading music online(stealing) with no charge. Nevermind the artists time and money and resources they put in! Its %@#-~}{ stupid but unfortunately we live in a time where some people feel its ok to cheat the dollars from a working persons pockets and the food from their families plates! ! ! To those who hack- yer an idiot! Now i may not make it thru moderation on this one but atleast i feel better as i type this.lol
lol I think it’s safe to push. Kinda made me giggle 😉
But I wouldn’t worry about the game itself. This is still one of EA’s most profitable games. And honestly we’ve been hearing people start the “it’s going to end soon” rumors for the last 2 years. The game is still here and still going strong. Right now it’s too profitable for EA to shutdown…
I believe that as long as The Simpsons is running the game will exist. 🙂
So….based on previous interviews, another 3 years? lol sorry had to say it
Anyone else having trouble getting into the game? I have been crashing non stop. Cant get past the log-in screen. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I need 800 more smores and today is the last day!!
Since I now spawn enough monsters after Campfire Upgrades that I don’t usually need to finish two whole 4 hour rounds, I came up with a chart that tells me which characters I can store so that I can usually get a headstart on the next upgrade. The only Story can’t interrupt is Lisa’s.
So, the poorly formatted chart tells you for each character how many monsters they spawn, and how many S’mores they make, and if there is a building you can store to interrupt the task. Even if you change the story, the character making s’mores will make the old monsters unless you interrupt them and start them over.

Holy crap…..dude I thought I was bad. That’s a whole other level of too much free time.
It was actually relatively easy. The “addictions” already have a list of building/characters which I just had to add a couple that the left out. I grouped all the buildings together to make it easy to store. Took me 30 minutes total.
Ok. I have 1000 s’mores left to get before time runs out tonight at midnight. Think I can do it???
0800 GMT is when time runs out…so 4 am EDT. It’ll be tight and depends on how often you get in and how many kids you have. But I like to have faith 🙂
I think they made the challenges pretty easy as to compensate for not having bonus donuts for collecting more smores after having all the prices.
I don’t know how others doing, but I think most will wind up with more donuts this way than by earning Bonus Track donuts with s’mores.
I don’t know, I finished the Act One prizes over four days ago….I could have earned A LOT of bonuts in that time. But the shopkeeper tasks are soooo much easier than the Terwilliger/Monsarno tasks. I agree with another comment from this week, I much prefer this laid-back approach to the events as opposed to the clock-watching nail-biter that was!
So I finished a campfire upgrade and checked to see the next nightmare needed (zombies) and I somehow had 142 already tapped!! Not sure how or why it was already almost 75% done? Not complaining just want to know if there’s a way to do it again 😈
happy glitch I think…
I had the same thing. Sadly, it seems to be a one-off. Sure saved me some time!!
Ok so it literally just happened again. Finished skeletons and checked the next one in line….again zombies. And again there was already 105 tapped already!! Sweet! The only thing I noticed was I also finished Getting Wood pt 6 and the daily challenge simultaneously. Is it completing the Getting Wood task what is getting me the extra zombies??
It shouldn’t be…
Are you sure you finished a whole upgrade (got to a new campfire level) and not just finished a round of s’mores making?
Absolutely.
Did you have the gate to nowhere already when this happened?
Yes. I think I was at level 22 or 23 campfire as well.
A couple of us have this issue as well. It’s really hard to figure out – don’t think we will either. Best guess is it’s somehow a concurrency thing and not really truly reproducible. If you by luck have a couple things going on at once, a level up will be triggered somehow.
Note, I post here because this type of bug is really hard to solve as well. Remember the never ending rigellian stuck on face glitch. Timing was everything to get it and took EA forever to solve. Think this is one of those issues – race condition or concurrency related.
I need Hugo, now! So unfair! The materials might help me get him though. So that help’s.
Ouch, what do you still need to get him? How many youngsters do you have?
Easy peasy tasks – even more so than last week, since there’s no task to tap 100 of something!
I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again….it’s making me nervous how many donuts EA is kind of giving away these days…wonder why and how it might be fitting in to a bigger plan of some sort?
The one non-scary rationale I came up with is that perhaps when people are close to having enough donuts to buy s limited-time item, they’re more likely to buy donuts to make up the difference? Or perhaps they figure that these extra donuts will give folks enough donuts to buy the limited-time items from this event, wiping out their banks and making it more likely that they’ll buy donuts for the Christmas event items?
Or maybe they’re just worried about losing players due to technical issues (like the slowness and crashing some folks have been experiencing) and figure people are less likely to walk away if they still have donuts to spend?
Or maybe this is the final volley of fireworks before they bring TSTO to an end (so they don’t care about giving more away)?
Or maybe I’m just WAY over thinking this! 😉
Have to say I was kinda fearing your third option also. Especially where the second to last level update, the splash mentioned being the end of level updates, only to receive another level a few weeks after. Being as long as it has, they’ve got to be running out of characters, items, and quest ideas to issue though. Sure they have what, almost 30 years worth of stuff to pick and choose, but alot is repetitive. Part of me kinda wishes they’d give a “black haired” Milhouse skin, sort of retro since if I recall he started out that way. Or even Smithers the way he started out, I dunno.
I think it might be at least partly the first one. For me, just looking at the time and effort that goes into earning 12 donuts a week from the Rail Yard and Friend Actions, spending 10 bucks is starting to look less expensive, particularly when I’m eyeballing some of the limited-time stuff. I don’t mind taking forever to save up for the Bowlerama, but I want the drive-in theater NOW, dang it!
I think it’s far more likely that they have realized that free donuts just get players addicted to donuts, so then they buy more. (Worked on me.)
Also, Halloween has often been a donut bonanza for devoted players. In 2013, I got 140-some free donuts from the bonus, got the ray gun for the price of a scratcher. Last year I got at least 120 donuts from UFOs, and one guy I knew got over 200, the lucky whatchamacallit.
They’re just simplifying it this year and making the distribution more even by making it less of a grind. They just want to make sure we’re logging in every day, and getting hooked on having some donuts available. Don’t worry about it.
I know its off topic but I dont know where to go..I need some help/opinions.. I accumulated 238 donuts by playing (buying is not a choice for me) and next week i will have 20 more donuts (thanks to this weeks Shopkeepers Challenge)and maybe more 2 donuts for level 58 (and i will get the rail yard weekly 5 donuts) I need help in what premium itens should I buy with this donuts..:
OPTION1: Barney[250dnts] (i have the Plow King outfit in storage)
OPTION2: Frink,SchoolBus[270dnts]
OPTION3: Hans Moleman,SaxLisa,RadMillhouse,WizardMartin[270dnts]
i want barney so much but i feel the other options are better deals, because of heights service and premium job money etc.
So anyone can help chosing? maybe an option 4?
-Extra info:
i Have 85 characters:
Premium ones: The yes Guy,All American Apu,Bumblebee,giuseppe,Mr Plow,ebenezer burns,Squeaky voice teen,Santa Ned,Number one,Rex Banner,Number 600.
and my bonus from conformity and decorations is 30.75% (4.5 stars, missing indolence.)
EA: TheCharmichael
Option 4 is wait and see what the rest of Halloween and Christmas bring. Which is what I would suggest. This time of the year is when some of the better limited-time characters come out..
thanks everyone , i will wait until the Christmas events ends , if nothing better appears i will take Frink and Otto.
Fyi on the plow king outfit… I had the same thought. But I didn’t even get a questline because it’s too old and Barney is premium anyway so no bonus from him wearing it. Personally I don’t think the kids skins are worth it. Would definitely pick frink and Otto from the options you gave. Or Alissa’s option 4 if not.
Ditto, this. Frink and Otto are must-haves.
I think option 2 is your best choice. Otto was my first premium purchase and I’ve never regretted it. I don’t personally like Frink (and, therefore, don’t have him), but both Otto and Frink are used a lot in most events and such, plus they earn for both characters and buildings, so I think they’re a good utilitarian purchase. However, in the end you should make sure that you’re choosing things that will make you happy to have in your game…things that make you smile a bit or make your town fuel more “complete,” or that will relieve an aggravation for you (like a building that gives a character a quest for a particular time length that’s missing for them).
The only good argument for option 3 (which is actually my least favorite option) is that it contains limited-time items. The items in options 1 and 2 will be there whenever, but, if you’re going to regret not getting those skins, then you should probably go for option 3 now, and wait until later for the other stuff.
My 2 cents: 1.) I love my Barney! Some of my favorite outdoor animations, hands down. 2.) Alissa’s option 4. Would hate for you to miss out on a cool limited time character- the others will still be there. 3.) Otto and Frink, both beloved characters also with good outdoor tasks.
Hans helps out a lot like SVT in events, KL (so does Otto)and SH but king of Meh. Total pass on the kid’s costumes.
Hah! Auto correct changed Hans from ‘kind’ of Meh, to ‘king’ of Meh. Lulz! 😄
Will the bits used to craft items be the same ie snakes , skeletons, bunnies and zombies. .also does anyone know if the crafting items will all change or just be added too.. xx
Crafting resources stay the same and carry over. Items to craft from Act 1 carry over to act 2 and more is adding in act 2.
EA is so generous with this! I’ve been playing for about 10 or 11 months now, and this is the month liberal they’ve ever been with the donut gifts! Thanks Thanks Thanks!
Easy to achieve and by tapped out standards pretty generous!
Does anyone know if all our bunnies and skeleton bones will be reset to zero tomorrow with the start of Act 2? (I.e. do I need to go on a wild spending spree tonight?)
No they carry over
ARGH, I clicked the shopkeeper challenge, then when I tapped a few more snakes and leveled up the fire, it didn’t collect on the shopkeeper. Frustrating that I now have to level up from scratch for it.
I noticed that last week. You must tap the “DO IT” button for the Shopkeeper’s Challenges or your progress won’t count.
That is what I did, I clicked/tapped the do it button, then finished a few more zombies for the level. Alas. Musta just glitched.
I’m kinda surprised how easy these five tasks are, that is, as long as you already have Hugo or have enough currency to craft him. No matter, I’ll happily accept the 20 bonuts Saturday morning.
Hold on to ya butts, but yeah these are nice little tasks, not to challenging mind.
I love the daily challenges they are achievable I got last weeks done in 5 days. Getting. 20 donuts is brilliant as I can buy what I want for my Springfield.
This is good. So easy and more bonuts
i’m at 133 donuts (all earned in game). after this week, i’m finally gonna buy jasper! that’s a paddlin’
Yes! same here! Been saving for Jasper for a while now. The rail Yard and these weekly challenges have really sped up that process.
Alissa
I know you did your best to get this out but…
“And when you complete them all within the week you’ll earn 20 bonuts!”
I think you meant DONUTS? Hope this helps.
>
Nope Bonuts. Bonuts=bonus donuts. It’s a phrase used a lot around here 😉
All I can think of every time I see the phrase is “Homer Simpson doesn’t say ‘B’oh!'” =D
I’ve recently started losing weight and the idea of donuts is so tempting right now. I suppose in real life, those could be bonuts, too. 😉
Mmmmm Bonuts 🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩
Another 20 bonuts wooohoooo ☆
I am wondering if the prizes are going to change for the Campfire rewards? So far it seems to be an endless rotation between the bramble hedges, the tents and the spooky shack. there seems to be no end to the cycle…I am at level 21.
Also, what is the end-game with these particular decorations. For the monorail event the prizes repeated in a similar fashion but there was a clear purpose to the pieces you were collecting: to build your monorail and their stations. With these camp fire rewards though, I am unsure what the point is. I only need so many spooky shacks and tents. Am I missing something?
Thank you!
The upgrade prizes? No it’s just those few and that’s it…on an endless cycle.
No real purpose that I see…i know some players like a lot of hedges for designs etc.
Giant
Hedge
Mazes
I was so annoyed for the first couple of days because I didn’t understand how the upgrading worked. I was missing that you needed 200 of a specific nightmare creature, not just tapping on that many in general. Once I noticed the tiny image changed, I was able to be strategic about what spooky story was being told but it was a rough start! Was anyone else a bit brain dead about that?
Don’t feel bad…a TON of readers were confused on it as well. It was one of the more popular questions in the comments, no matter how many posts we wrote on it.
Gonna be honest, I don’t understand why so many people missed it. It seemed pretty clear as it was, and then you guys did a fantastic job of spelling it all out.
I was confused until I read the post on this website.
