Update: In your games you can see what’s to come, when it unlocks and for how long. That’s a good guide for what’s available over the next 2 days. However, keep in mind MORE stuff will hit (That’s not currently showing) on Monday 11/30. There will be something that’s new, for those players (like Ryan) that have everything…and then there will be some returning items (from events past). (but Springfield Falls will NOT be returning for those holding out hope)
My best advice is if there’s something you’ve been wanting now is the time to get it. Some of you may be holding out for the returning stuff…but don’t hold out too long. You don’t want to miss your chance to get something you’ve been wanting. We’ll post a list of what’s returning from Events past on another post, just so we don’t have spoilers here for those that don’t want them.

Hope everyone had an enjoyable Turkey Day…or average Thursday. Personally we had a crazy eventful day that ended up with a certain Tiny Addict way over stimulated and lots of day time sleep missing. Hopefully that means she’ll get some good sleep tonight though! (you can check out photos of Miss. Riley dressed for Turkey Day here)
Anywho…it looks like EA will be doing some Black Friday Deals tomorrow (11/27)…and because we’ve got a lot going on here tomorrow I wanted to give you guys a place where you could discuss the deals with each other (I’ll do my best to approve comments ASAP on this thread). Here’s some basic info from EA via their Facebook…
So similar to last year, it looks like these will be hourly deals. With new items unlocking each hour.
Tomorrow (Friday) is a day filled with my husband and I decorating our house for Christmas and celebrating “Friendsgiving” with some close friends of ours. So I will try to get on here at some point tomorrow morning and give you guys a list of what’s coming and when…but for now consider this post a place to share information about the items with each other. Yaaaay!! So far looks like the only thing I’m gonna be getting is Santas Little Helper. SO excited. He’s a necessity but so overpriced. Can’t wait til tonight when I can grab him! I’ve always wanted the Clampitheatre, but we’ll have to see what the rebate is like on that one. Hopefully everyone can get something they’ve always wanted 😊
Hi, I’m having the same issue about not seeing the money on the buildings or the thumbs up of the characters, it’s not just you.
Tried even to uninstall the game but no luck, it remains the same.
As with the multiple crashes that ea is having lately, I guess we can only wait and hope thet they don’t take too long to repair it.
I’m a little bit disappointed that the Community Centre with Jasper isn’t on offer, but hey ho. I don’t have many gaps in my town without buying more land, but I’m tempted to go for Rancho Relaxo when it comes up. I plan to move some mansions to Springfield Heights when I FINALLy finish there, so it will go nicely in a space left by those. I would also love Luann but I just feel like the Cracker Factory is an ugly building, so we’ll see.
Anybody got Chester and the unfinished shed? Never really a character I’ve been bothered about but for 75 donuts instead of 150 it seems too good a deal to not snap up. So what are people’s thoughts on the character for those that have got him?!
Personally I like it. At least he is mentioned in the show even if not seen.
The shack looks great in my farm area and I really enjoy his animation.
I was gonna get Akira and the happy sumo, but then I decided I’m gonna get Chester and the shed because it gives a 2.25% bonus on money and xp! Best deal in my opinion 😀
I bought him because I was curious, since they basically took something mentioned on the site and turned it into a storyline. It’s fairly entertaining, and definitely worth getting at half price.

Anybody else found that since the update this morning they’re not getting the thumbs up when tasks are finished?! Super annoying, I have to go around and click everything just incase something had finished!
I didn’t notice that but I had a town full of buildings to collect, went to do my friends, came back and they were all clear with their timers reset 🙁 Nothing for friends to tap on + none of the money. My IRS is stored.
When I logged in this morning all the thumbs and payout icons were missing for me as well. Logging out and back in brought them back, probably could’ve gone to krustyland or neighbor visits and back too.
I made a list of who I’m getting with my 285 donuts.
-Luann (she unlocks a premium job for Kirk and the ability to buy Fleet-a-pitas)

I won the jackpot on another golden scratch-r!!! So, with a new total of 385 (*nearly faints*), I could afford SLH. Still not sure it’s worth it, even at half price. At 40 or less I’d definitely get him.
So now I can’t yet decide what to fill up on. I’m thinking the apple and orange trees, or even the Springfield Sign (but I’d need 25 more donuts because rebates apply afterwards and also still need 5 more (which I can get from the rail yard)). Then I remembered that I wanted the work from home station, from T-Day. Decisions… Anyone good at making those?
I’m sure Sraige would suggest I get Sherri and Terri. Some of their tasks aren’t at 200%. It worries me a bit because they just had another job changed to a lower payout…

I am getting all of the characters I do not have, even the ones I hate like the YMCA (senseless violence against children – not funny) on the chance they may be used one day in an event. I got SLH as explained elsewhere. I will also get some bonus% items that fall below the 2% for 40 donut mark like the BBQ pig. The Mayflower was close, a 60 donut value for 70, but the animation was not worth it to me. The Springfield sign is worth 90 donuts, Carlmore 70, the apple tree 5 based on this principle. Therefore I will not be buying them because I doubt they get cheap enough. If you want them for personal reasons, like attractiveness, then that is another matter, and a different article I am working on.
If my budget were more limited, I would drop the bonus% items in a heartbeat because I have plenty of Wailing Walls and Tennis Courts. And I would put those characters I guessed would be used in the coming year for events at the top of my list. I do not have enough experience to guess well, so I am not speculating for others, aside from Sherri and Terri, which I suspect are a good bet to be participating.

I got the French waiter, wanted him for a long time. I might get the filmset too, but still on the fench on that one. I guess I’ve definitely crossed over from more or less freemium to more and more premium… I try to be stingy with my donuts but, alas… I keep on giving in.

Some things I wanted are not on sale, others are. Money is sufficient. 75 donuts for Santa’s Little Helper was reasonable so got it in hopes that it will help if Maggie enters the game.
Rule of thumb for bonus%. Anything under 2% for 40 donuts is a good price, anything over is expensive (although perhaps still worth buying). Of course, those with a hundred Wailing Walls may not be interested at all. I am still increasing my total bonus%, but only if the price is right.
Didn’t your other comment say a pass on SLH? Why’d you change your mind? Should I? You have 9 hours to tell me your opinion. (Also there’s MY other comment. A reply there would be appreciated, too. 😃)
I have been desperately waiting for the list to go up to see what I already had. Now I am wondering if I missed the teleporters in there somewhere. So haven’t been checking here.
I said in the first post, ‘only with a large discount’. 50% is such a large discount since you rarely see it. 2. Everyone has been clamoring for Maggie and last year or this year, they had a mini-episode fashioned on Baby’s Day Out with Maggie and the opossum as the stars. Sounds like it was especially written for TSTO. So I am guessing that some time this year, Maggie will join us and there will be an emphasis on animals, including Spider Pig. Do not remember if SLH played much of a role, but he would be a natural since he is overpriced but giving event currency would make some people pay even full price. Therefore, I am taking a gamble that this will come true. Besides, I like animals, but 150 was way too much. 75 is not cheap, but it is reasonable or nearly so for an NPC. Would prefer the opossum to the Christmas Raccoon.

I see. I wonder, though, if an NPC has ever transitioned to a PC and gained tasks, even temporarily. But a Maggie addition might be a brave new world.
Mr Teeny is perhaps the closest, although Jub-Jub and Stampy are not far behind. And I think SLH was in the final battle scene, but I would need to review the episode to make sure. So I would venture that there is a possibility, but it is pure speculation on my part.
The Twonicorn started out as an NPC and gained a shared task with Furious D, making it double premium.

Ok, so it doesn’t say that specifically in the game but the facebook post seems to indicate the deals will cycle twice per day, and the countdown timers for the deals to unlock that are now listed in my game seem to support that — so for the next 3 days there’ll be 12 deals from midnight-noon PST and then those will repeat once, then move on to the next set of 12 on the next midnight.
WHAT A RELIEF! Now I don’t have to set a 7am alarm to nab Krustylu Studios & Sideshoe Mel.
Also, I assume the couple of one hour gaps I see in the ‘coming soon!” time to deal unlocking counters means I already own whatever items would be on sale there.

Very disappointed. Was looking forward to this but I’ll be asleep for most of them, especially with the deals stopping during the day tomorrow. I understand the US is probably EAs target market, but would it be so hard to ask for our preferred Timezone and adjust these sorts of things?

Definitely get it! I love my little happy sumo, and it’s already so cheap that any rebate on it will be well worth it.

I am working on an article, but it is not yet finished. My take on the situation.
Flat-rate pay-outs remain the same forever. They can be increased only by a bonus%. They are the lowest rung in the income chain.
Bonus% also remain unchanged, except when using the XP collider, when they are multiplied by a factor of five, but only for XP. Any increase in an open system is positive, but in a closed system, the lowest total values are where either income or bonus% approaches zero and the best result is a 50/50 mix. So if you have a low bonus% compared to all of the freemium flat-rate buildings and characters in the game, it would be good to bring it up. Where the 50/50 mark is in an open system is difficult to say.
Characters produce a flat-rate income, but they also help you to earn or craft items during events, like Wailing Walls and Tennis Courts. Because of this ability, the income they generate increases over time owing to the extra buildings and decorations they allow you to obtain. This makes them the most desirable. Also keep in mind that the best building pays out only 800 dollars per day (24 hours) and that only if you tap on it 4 times (Duff Brewery). The highest average building pay-out is 447 dollars per day playing hourly, the lowest is 186 dollars per day playing once a day. Playing twice a day (12 hour intervals) is 296, three times (8 hour intervals) 344, and five times (every 4 hours) 410 dollars. As you already know, the lowest a premium character pays out is 1000 dollars per day. This means the best paying combo is Sherri and Terri. I have not done the calculations yet on how a bonus% compares with these income rates.
So if your income is limited, this is how I would plan your (am planning my) spending: playable characters first of all, esp. those that might participate in events (already have Sherri and Terri or they would top my list), bonus% second, and flat-pay-out buildings last. Santa’s Little Helper, a simple NPC without a bonus%, would need a tremendous discount to get on my shopping list.
I’ve never understood why Sherri and Terri are a better deal than any two other premium characters together. They pay out like any other two premium characters and, historically, they cost just as much to buy, too. (Actually, depending on the premium characters, there are others you can buy a pair of that are cheaper.)
Good point. Since my game came with the cheap characters already (thanks to my daughter’s efforts), never thought to look. Yes, if one were to pick up the SVT and Kearney – no, those are awarded for free through the mystery box, so silly to buy them. They are equal or better to Sherri and Terri in terms of event participation. If you pair the French Waiter with any other stand alone character, you can get them slightly cheaper than Sherri and Terri, but I think Sherri and Terri participate in more events. And as stated above, Sherri and Terri beat any combo (except perhaps a bonus%, which I have not calculated. – Just did a rough calculation. A 2% bonus gives a much better than 1000 dollar yield, the minimum yield on one twin, if you have 130 buildings and 100 characters, which you should have by level
59. This was why I posted the caveat in the original comment that I had not done % calculations.). On the other hand, FW with someone else will give better animation than Sherri and Terri. And as to characters with bonus% like the rocket car, I haven’t seen any used for events in the last year. So they are risky (I am taking that risk, but I went premium.) if you are looking for event participation (where the big multipliers come in from crafted and won items), but their straight yield is higher than any other characters or combos.
Hopefully I can present this more coherently in an article, but you can see some of the complexity already.

I already have just over a dozen premium characters already, so amongst the ones I don’t have, the ones I really want to see on sale in order of most likely to purchase are:

If the above are all on sale, I hope I can get all five. Depending on which other characters are available, I probably won’t have enough donuts to get other less desired (by me at least) premium characters like French Waiter, Princess Kashmir, Lampwick, Chester, etc.

Fortunately both my mom and my sister have Costco memberships. Need to ask one of them to grab me a set.
I was going to buy two $100USD gift cards from BestBuy.com for $160USD. But with the current exchange rate, that still comes out to over $210CDN for $200 worth of gift cards. Granted, I’d be spending the USD cards in my US iTunes account, so I’d still be getting $200 for the $160, but still I’d rather spend $200CDN for $200 in my Canadian iTunes account than spend $210+CDN for $200 in my US iTunes account.
So um, this being my first year in TSTO, I haven’t experienced their previous BF sales. Might be a stupid question, but when they claim “hourly sales” does that mean, when the hour is up, the existing item goes poof, or does it stay the remainder of the day? Would hate to miss out on something good just because I wasn’t tapping 24/7 lol.
Typically you only have an hour to buy an item. Once the hour is up, that item is no longer on sale. But usually it cycles through 8 or 16 items for a few days. That way, every item is available to you regardless if you work 9-5, sleep in, or are a night owl working the graveyard shift. So items I miss out on whilst sleeping from 3am to 8am EST should be available to me tomorrow afternoon and/or evening again.
Again, maybe I’m just being silly, not knowing what I’m doing, but I’m looking thru this list and I’m not seeing any repeats
I can see Santa’s Little Helper and French Waiter repeated. Maybe they are only in the list once until they are shown the first time, then added to the list again?
Yes, they only last for an hour (but you can see when they come up ahead of time). And they are usually available twice (12 hours apart).
It means hourly, but they rotate through the items a couple times so if something comes up while you’re sleeping, it should come up again while you’re awake. Timers might need to be set if there’s something you really want.
Yeah I’m hoping for an answer to this one as well, I was tapping last year but I don’t even remember thanksgiving or black Friday in game, so tiny bit nervous lol
Last year, each sale lasted an hour, but you could look ahead to see future deals so if there was something specific you wanted you knew when it would be on sale.
And they also did a repeat of things so you got a second chance at it.
It’s one hour slots but when you log in you’ll see what’s coming up when so you can try to plan for it last year some where repeated for me but that may have been as I had the character that was meant for that time slot
You can login now and see the deals for the entire 2.5 days (but only 1 unlocks per hour). They WILL disappear, so you have to set your alarm if you want something particular…

Since the black friday, update, I’ve got a big problem with my favourite game.
The dollars on each building and the hand on each caracter when a task end.
So when I take a look at my city I don’t know which building / characters ended their task, making the game very difficult to play.
Am I the only one to have this problem with TSTO ? Do you know any solution to repair it ?

Try restarting your device. Also try going to Krustyland and back. Otherwise you can use your task bar to see what tasks a character may be on.

i am having the same issue at the moment with the missing dollar signs and. thumbs etc. – have tried leaving my town and coming back and have had a go at reinstalling. still no luck 🙁 most of my characters were due to finish 24 hr tasks but im having trouble finding them all! i would contact ea but im not sure if people outside the US can do this?
AFAICS the bug is being caused by the Gil message that pops up when you enter your Springfield.
Going to Krustyland or to your neighbours will clear it, also logging in before the next deal starts will cause all your jobs completed and money icons to appear.
I had the same issue but a hard close of the game and restart of the device fixed the issue.
I had the same problem. Like Bunny said, going to Krustyland fixed it for me.
I am getting this also (on my iPhone). To temporarily fix it I go to the phone home screen, double tap the home button, then force quit the app by flicking it up. Then reopen it and they are all back (for a while before it happens again).
That happened to me, too, and going to Krustyland and back solved it.
I’m seeing the same problem with this update.
