Addicts Open Thread

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread!  So, let’s get the conversation going!  Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long.  This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING.  Just no Add me requests…those should go here.  We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

So…here is your Open Thread.  No new episode of The Simpsons tonight, but the Thanksgiving Event is still finishing up in TSTO.  What are your thoughts on the Thanksgiving Event?  How about the Black Friday deals?  Pick up anything good that you’ve been wanting?  Anything you’re still waiting on?
How was your Thanksgiving? Do anything fun and exciting?  Or was it just another Thursday for you?
Sunday Night Football tonight features the Patriots at the Broncs.  Something you’ll be checking out?  Did your team play earlier today?  How’d they do?
How was your weekend?  Do anything fun and exciting?  Get any Christmas shopping done?  (only 3 weeks left)

So chat about the Simpsons, TSTO, Update fun, or anything else you can think of!  Can’t wait to chat with you all, you know we love hearing from you!

Have Fun!  And happy Sunday!

  1. Still saving up for Mel and Krustylu Studios, bummed I didn’t have enough to get them during the sale! I plan to hop on it the second I have enough unless something good pops up during Christmas.

  2. I have read through some of the guides and want to try to be clear on visiting friends. Usually I stop clicking friends when I get to 1 FP per click for the last 180 clicks. Earning 10 or 5 or 4 is okay, I usually finish up 2’s. Is it work clicking through the last 180? Wastes so much time loading friends just for 3 FPs for 60 friends

    • I’m the same way, when I have time to visit neighbors, usually stop when it gets to 2-1 points. However there is the chance of a random donut drop if you hadn’t received one by that time.

      • i have never received a donut clicking neighbors, how/when do you get these?

        • You get them just through normal building clicks. I find they drop very rarely, like once every 2-3 weeks

          • If you have 100 neighbors, you should actually *average* 1-2 donuts a day, not every couple of weeks! However, because it’s an average, you might go several days without earning a donut (but you also might get 3 or 4 in one day, every once in a while!). The chance of getting a donut is .05% per tap.

        • You have to max out your FPs first. If you’re still working to get friendship prizes, you’re not eligible to get donuts. They’re just an occasional bonus fgood folks who have maxed their FPs (along with tripling the cash and XP), to encourage them to continue visiting their neighbors. Each tap offers a .05% chance of yielding a donut.

        • Max out Friendship prizes.

        • Doesn’t happen all the time, and it helps to have pretty much a full list of neighbors, just tap 3 things in each town daily, and eventually a donut will pop up. Its random, could get one in a week, may not get one for a month. Better chance at one dropping if you visit and tap alot of neighbors daily vs only a few every so many days.

    • The key when employing this strategy is to rotate through all 100 neighbours and not visit the same 40 everyday. Otherwise people at the end of the alphabet will get neglected.

    • I hit all 100 + Other Springfield every day. Since I have all the Friendship prizes I get triple the cash. With my bonus, that comes to $183 per tap. That is not a bad return for less than an hour per day (it takes longer during events when I must hunt things to tap).

The only downside is when neighbors go dormant – usually after an event. I just cleaned house and have six open holes to fill.

  3. I had 449 donuts saved up (all freebies) so after reading the mods best picks and “Should I’s” these seemed like the best deals.

I picked up “Cracker Factory w/Luann”, ” Happy sumo w/Akira, “Stu’s Disco w/ Disco Stu” and feel like I made out pretty well, although I wish they would just discount from the beginning and not do the donut back deal or I could have gotten “Rancho w/ Don” or “Krusty Lu w/sideshow Mel”, but I totally understand why they do it from a marketing/ sales perspective. I still have about 140 left so I really hope they don’t come out with a Duffman/Stadium deal too soon or I’ll be sooooo unhappy. Let me start saving up again and then I’ll get it.

Wish list also includes Jimbo but I haven’t seem him offered for a while. I wish they used these characters for the events but it seems like they use more off the beaten characters to get you to buy them so a deal wouldn’t make sense.

    Swedish kid and

    • Good buy! An often unmentioned bonus with Luann and the cracker factory is that Kirk will have a premium task of running (or is that ruining) the cracker factory.

  4. Whoever mentioned last week one of their favorite animations is blue haired lawyer Dino-ride, thank you for the reminder! I always have burns on bring you love so I hadn’t done that one in awhile: )

  5. Am I the only one who wished that all characters get winter outfits? I find it silly when there is snow that they all walk about (well most of em) in their summer clothes…. Would be cool…

    • I think it’s kind of funny. I plan on having King-Size Homer riding around town with his, ahem, backside showing. And I didn’t get him, but it would be amusing to me seeing Acorn Kirk freezing his…nut. 😄

    • That would probably take some serious programming, but it would be cool. For what it’s worth, where I grew up the weather was so variable that there a few days we would be wearing shorts and t-shirts in the snow since it was back into the 60s (Fahrenheit!) the next day.😁

    • I wish there was a way to turn Winter on/off. It’s really frustrating trying to decorate with dead trees and snow-covered plants. I’d also like to toggle it on in June/July when it’s Winter in Australia and not in December when it’s 30-40 C each day! Christmas is beach weather, so it’s always weird seeing a snow-covered Springfield with dead-looking trees (our trees keep their leaves in Winter)

  6. Happy Sunday!
What a great day! We put up real Christmas decorations in the house and I put up cyber decorations in Springfield.
My book recommendation would be The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. It is a series of books about a modern day wizard with faeries, vampires and even a dinosaur in. They are great fun, easy reads, with amazing characters.

    • Sounds like my kind of read! I added it to my ever growing list. ☺️

    • Do you auto get house decorations? Never got one yet… plus I just started Nov. 1…

      • Last year was my first Christmas in Homerland. I can’t remember what triggered the skin for individual houses, but a prize was the master switch to turn them on and off. It looks like one of those old-timey dynomite plungers. Apparently it was new and a big request from the TSTO Old Guard. 😉

      • Last year, you had to earn them as part of the event.

        • … and the year previous they were tapawards as well. The plunger bonus last year was a help, but it’s still a tad frustratement that when ‘pluckin’ turkeys’ ( in the last event ) you always inadvertently change the odd house or two 🙂

          • I had that problem while chasing terrors… At one point, I figured out to collapse that part of the house window, which helped, but it didn’t stay collapsed all the time.

        • That’s right! I forgot that we earned the Christmas decoration skins house-by-house and then, near the end, we won the master switch. Thanks for jogging my memory. 🙂

  7. Any idea what tentative items would be going on for the Christmas event? I have 145 donuts left and I am considering getting the Piggly’s Super Smorg for Bouvier, but I’m on the fence barring any cool premium items during the Christmas event.

Sort of free to play (have used a decent amount on golden scratches!), and I’ve read the Should-I-buy on Bouvier already. I don’t think you’ll have the answer about Christmas items, but thought I’d ask 🙂 Thanks for all you do for the TSTO community!

  8. aaaaargh just bought disco stu (gil deal) then game crashed when I went to place it. now no disco no stu no rebate & no 180 donuts! (I’ve been saving for a very long time)

not happy with game right now,,,,,,,,

    sent email to ea

    any tips?

  9. I would very much like it if they would change the time for friend visits to twenty hours rather than twenty four. Then I can visit sometime in the evening without stressing too much.
    Love the sales.

  10. Old Dude who runs the House of Evil

Anyone else notice a drop in getting donuts from visiting neighbors? During the Halloween event I was getting at least one per day. Since the event I may have gotten 1 total. Did EA lower the rate they come out or was it just a coincidence for me?

    • Just a rough patch…it happens (and it will pass).

    • 1 per day?? I get 1 every few weeks!

      • I visited all my 100 friends each day and it is about one or nil donuts per day. I don’t think it would be 1 every few weeks unless you are visiting sporadically.

        • Maybe it is more often, as I don’t really pay attention visiting friends. I usually tap them when I’m watching TV or reading something.

      • Old Dude who runs the House of Evil

yeah, I thought EA might’ve increased the rate for the Halloween event. It’s back to normal now. Mighta just been a hot stretch

      • How many neighbors do you have?

        • If I do all 100 Neighbors daily I average 3 per day usually between 1 and 5

          • If you’re truly averaging 3 per day, you are significantly beating the odds.

            • I must be lucky, I’ll have like two days ina row with nothing then the next day 5 the day after that 4, the next day 1 I’ve never done the math but it seems like an average of 3 a day

        • I was quite surprised that I only have 48. I thought I had ‘close to 100’ as it takes ages to go through them else. It looks like I need to go on a recruiting drive!

          • Yes – with only 48 neighbors, you’ll only average .72 donuts per day (if you visit all of them and get three taps from each), so it’s not surprising that you could go a while not getting any donuts. But getting neighbors is easy…just go to the Add Friends area of this site (either the regular post or the ” no vandalism” one, as you prefer) and either send requests to the folks asking for friends (which is what I did when I first started) or post your own friend request and let others invite you. (There are also other TSTO-related websites with similar areas, if you want an even broader selection of friends.)

  11. I hate these sales, I had spent most of my donuts already on other items (workstation and Indian casino) and have about 77 donuts left, enough to buy Akira after discount but I won’t be able to get more donuts right now, so dissappointed…

  12. What buildings/decorations/characters would you guys like to see in the game? I’d like to see caravans, fire department and lenny’s apartment

    • Old Dude who runs the House of Evil

Monte Burns casino, Larry Burns, Cider Mill with Flanders apple hat, Vegas wives

    • Amongst the regulars, my fellow nerds top the list with Gary, Doug, and Benjamin. Other regulars I’d love to see are Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz.

Amongst the lesser seen or one-time characters, I’d like to see Sergeant Seymore Skinner (the real one), Michaek Jackson (Leon K), Mr. Bergstrom, Karl (Homers assistant), Pepi, Jacque, and John.

If they introduce real life people portrayed in The Simpsons, then two events I’d like to see are episode based events.
A softball event from “Homer At The Bat” that introduces Clemens, Canseco, Griffey Jr, Scocia, Sax, Boggs, Mattingly, Strawberry, Smith with they’re respective tasks from that episode (shave sideburns, cluck like a chicken, drink tonic, etc). You could also bring in Aristotle and the Hypnotist from that episode.
The other real life tie-in could be from the Krusty comeback special in “Krusty Gets Cancelled” could bring in Elizabeth Taylor, Hugh Hefner, Johnny Carson, Bette Middler, Luke Perry, and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. You could also bring in Gabbo from that episode.

    • Sara Wiggum and Lindsay Nagle. I’m not a fan of one off characters so much.

    • Someone stole my burrito™

I would like an Itchy and Scratchy event. Add Itchy and Scratchy to the game. NOT in KrustyLand! Mine is abandoned and fallen into disrepair. Itchy and Scratchy souvenir shop where you can buy outfits for characters. Mallet balloons. Maybe a stage where they can beat the crap out of each other? Etc.

  13. Odd, my post from earlier is missing, but I did get subscribed to the thread.

I had a question about The Happy Sumu. The “Should I buy” link on this site says there is no character interaction after the quest he comes with. Does the Store still earn $ and XP after the Sumo Quest? Does the character still have hourly/daily tasks after he finishes his initial quest?

  14. my righteousness rating dropped from 5 stars to 4. any one else notice this? could it be because I’m letting the turkeys run around?

    • My righteousness dropped from 5 stars to 1/2 a star at Halloween! Remained that way until Thanksgiving and its slowly crept back up to 3 stars, then BAM, 5 stars again yesterday. Go figure.

    • I have thirty training walls in my town, so my righteousness never drops.

    • After you get to the part where Homer goes in the Turkey stuffer* for 16 hours, I haven’t tapped any turkeys since then (except accidentally) ….I know I’ve missed a few XP …..so I’ve had the same 8 free-range turkeys fattening up for Xmas and it doesn’t affect righteousness

      🍗 🎄 🍩 🙂

    • oops – meant it dropped 4 stars down to 1 star

  15. Sadly, I don’t know who my in-game friends are. But if you are my friend hello!
I appreciate your visits and I always try to be a great host. I tap hand shakes ASAP, I don’t collect from my buildings anymore so you have plenty to tap. I have corn ready to collect, always have a movie playing at the drive-in.
My only gripe…please stay a while, look around, enjoy! I’ve put so much into my town and it honestly hurts when I log in and just see handshakes at the spawn location.
Do you hate my town? Please tell me, I’m open to the criticism. What more can I do for you???

    • Don’t take it personally, most people probably just want to tap & go I think I have 88 neighbours and sometimes start falling asleep half way through …..when I’m awake, I do try and scroll away from the landing spot to leave stuff for people with less time,

It would be nice to have the time to have a proper look at some neighbours’ towns, maybe during the Xmas holiday 🙂

      • Same here, Lee. I always start out with the best intentions of browsing around but by the end of the list I’m half asleep! Alas, the tap and run occurs. I love checking out my neighbor’s designs and miss Springfield Show Off! I hope the time can be found to have a holiday edition (wink wink 😜😘)

    • Old Dude who runs the House of Evil

I’m the same way, I always try to go look around my neighbors towns and click buildings away from the spawn. I wish there was a way people can leave feedback for neighbors, I’d love to know what part of my town people think is cool, what parts need changed up etc..

    • Those that cycle through their neighbors on a regular basis are increasing their XP and hunting for bonuts without stopping to smell the roses. Time is usually short and it feels good to get it done.

However, there are other “leisure times” when it is fun to enjoy your neighbors artistic skills and take the time to look around. More often then not the 24 hour clock has not reset yet (when smelling the roses) and there is nothing to tap on. I will tap on the other side of my neighbors Springfields to let them know I was there, if I can. But that is not always the case. It would be fun to leave comments, thumbs up or down, or star ratings of our neighbors, but we don`t have that. Don`t confuse the two different ‘visit modes’ we all have. There will be many that see your artistic skills and collecting ideas from them. If you take pride in your Springfield, just know there are many others out there, somewhere, that see your talent and are proud of you.

Design with pride, tap with purpose, and lounge within creative wonder.

    • I try to avoid tapping at the spawn location, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m looking around. Sorry. Like others have said, it’s just difficult when you have 80+ neighbors and then you end up falling asleep partway through, as the example states.

I really wish the spawn location was not that stupid SH tunnel!! Because if it was center of town (or player’s choice!!!) then I’d get a much better peak at my neighbors’ designs, right off the bat, instead of half of the screen taken up by the exact (yes, exact!!) same tunnel and mountain ridge. We get it, EA, you’re proud of your latest expansion. But how about being proud of your Sky Fingers’ creations!? 😎

    • There are a few methods I use when visiting.
Occasionally I take a scenic tour around towns, but this is only occasional because towns don’t change that often.
More frequently I go looking for the big payout buildings cos this helps my neighbours more.
But the most frequent is to tap the first 3 non-vandalising buildings I see, mostly because time is short.
Increasingly I’m not doing my neighbour visits at all (except during events or if a new friendship prize hits), the benefits to me and my neighbours just don’t justify the time it takes.

    • fantastic town. definitely one of the best I’ve seen. congrats on all your hard work

  16. Totally miserable day here in Edinburgh, Scotland, sitting having dinner with the family, home made curry, my specialty, looking forward to christmas, still got some pressies to buy, but all is in hand, disappointed I didnt get a deal on barney but have enough donuts to buy him but will wait a few day, next sunday my birthday so another family dinner and possibly a few beers, on holiday till them, feeling good

    • Weather forecast wasn’t good for you guys, -10°c overnight,

Anyway I thought you made more of Hogmanay than Xmas ?
      🙂

      • Not every Scot, I love Christmas but don’t really bother with Hogmany, find it a little sad to be honest as I think back to big family New Year parties when I was a kid then think how many of the family are gone now. Guess I get a little melancholy.

  17. I still have that Simpsons calendar (with that Thanksgiving meal image), it’s somewhere in my basement.

Well Lee, I think this is the last time I’m going to type “Gobble Gobble” this year, I am all Gobbled out. Just a few more days and the Game Turkeys will be gone and suspecting a Springfeild covered in White Stuff (don’t take that the wrong way, I mean Snow) :p

Well with B.F. Deal I got a couple of Mustached men in my town and one with a large bone (S.S. Mel), it’s hard to believe it took me so long to get him

I’m done with this month, bring on the next event/update and TSTOA Banner :p

    • There’s a thing to get the imagination going, …………what’s in Totbox’s basement? (Apart from old calendars)📆 📅 nobody chained up waiting for an Xmas gobble ? 🙂

      • “Smirks” and moves on to other posts… 😉

      • sideshow mel with his hair down, waiting to be boned….

      • Lol, no one chained up but funny you should mention it because there were a number of curious items left behind from the previous owner to indicate it may have been a possablity at one point of another.

Though I am tempted to reveal the description of my basement while throwing you off with some pop culture such as Animaniacs water-tower and PW’s P.H., it is not doom and gloom if that’s what you were thinking (I have an upstairs for that, lol). I guess I can tell you it is big, furnished, a number of collectibles, Multi-themes and functions yet no washer or dryer. Oh and most importantly lots of boxes :p

But I’m sure some people’s imagination could be far more entertaining than what I’m vaugely describing. Sounds like a contest idea but the winner gets nothing but a slight headache.

I know I said I wouldn’t say something twice in a row, but just for you Lee, I’ll give one more “Gobble” just for you :p

  18. Seeking ur opinion herr
    E dr nick or Sherri/Terri ?

  19. Good morning, all!

After working all, or part, of every day of this long Thanksgiving weekend, I think I’m going to take today off. I’ve already figured out that there’s no way I can complete one of my projects before vacation anyway (hoping that doesn’t get more into trouble *fingers crossed*, but I am in good shape with everything else on my “before vacation” work to-do list. So, I’m hoping that my boss will clear me to start my vacation on Thursday (and that I won’t get called to work on something during my time off, which I’m hoping will essentially be the rest of December). I have so many projects to work on at home that I’ve been waiting skill year to do, and I need to make a trip down to NYC to finally meet my new nephew, when my brother and his wife come in from California.

I really hope EA hold off on starting the Christmas event for a bit…I have so much cleanup to do in my town from the previous could of events, and I also want some time to play with at least a couple of my new purchases. I also hope they offer some new ways to earn a significant number of donuts…by the time I’m done with this Gil’s Deal, I’ll be just about down to nothing.

So happy for this sale though…I think I made the stuff I got from the last time last for several months, by only placing one item at a time, and only when there was a lull in the game. This time, I have two things going at once, since the game automatically places new standalone characters into the game…it doesn’t ask you whether you want to place or store them…so I have three questlines for French Waiter and Dr. Nick running simultaneously. (Dr. Nick actually seems to have two questlines running at the same time.) I just wish one of them could help out at the rail yard, but, since I’ve never completed that later than Saturday (and, usually by Friday), it’s not a big deal. Too bad Dewey Largo wasn’t in the sale though…and the pet shop would have been good. (Not a huge fan of the pet shop, but, if it had been on sale for cheap, I might have gotten it for the Stampy and Mr. Teeny tasks.)

So, today will be my “dulce far niente” (sp?) day…lying a bed finishing my book group book and catching up on some of the gazillion hours of recordings I have filling up my TiVo. Oh, and eating…lots of eating! (Scared to get on a scale after the past several days… 🙀)

    • You should come to jersey on your vacation 😉

      • Wish I could! Frankly, especially with my current disability, doing any traveling at Christmas time ( i’ll be lucky if I’m not having to actually travel on Christmas eve…hoping to drive down on the 21st and back on the 23rd, but it all depends on when my dad schedules the past four) is going to be tricky. (Pay for warmish weather, since I’ll have to wear shorts.)

But, I should be making my usual end-of-August trip to NJ next year, so, maybe this time, you won’t be away on vacation when I do! (Plus, that trip is for almost a whole week, so it should be easier to fit something in…thinking you can join my stepdad and me at a Somerset Patriots game maybe? )

        • We’re usually away around the 25th of August, it’s my dad’s birthday so that’s when the whole family usually does vacation. But not sure what the plan for this year is, I’ll know after Christmas. If we’re around we’d love to go. By that time Riley will be old enough (and most likely will have a few major league games under her belt). But hey if you and squeeze a jersey trip in we’ll be around. I’m home until February (and starting to go slightly crazy..lol)

          • hey everyone,
alissa, since you mentioned lil riley and baseball, i wondered if you have gotten her a New York Mets NL championship shirt, yet? i think blue and orange are her colors. 🙂

      • I kinda had the same thought when I saw NYC on your list, Sandra! You’re going to be in our neck of the woods. Too bad you can’t make it down.

    • You’re apparently doing OK on the monorail as it is. I have all the characters and playing every couple of hours I usually finish Saturday maybe Friday

    • I got the pet shop for the tasks…and Jub-jub! Why? So that Selma can love him!!! Jub-jubs need their love, and sometimes ya gotta pay for love…. 💙 Er, you know what I mean. 😌 I mean donuts… 🍩🍩🍩

      • Yeah, that’s one of the things I tried to take into consideration when a stupid hacker purchased the pet shop for me about two years ago. *sigh*

        • You tried to consider the good aspects

You were hacked? Blink twice if you’re being hacked as we speak!

P.S. Are you the same Vanessa from Brazil? You must have just got a WordPress account, correct?

          • Yes, it’s me. I’m still trying to figure out how WordPress works… I still can’t see whether my comment is pending moderation or got lost.

And yes, I was hacked about two years ago. And by “hacked” I mean someone deliberately logged into my account and played my game. I had 92 donuts and they purchased the Pet Shop, along with the Popsicle Stick Skyscraper, the 50ft Magnifying Glass and the Sunsphere.

I’m surprised I continued playing after that… In a time that I had zero friends and EA definitely wasn’t generous with bonuts as they are these days, it had taken me a looooong time to hoard those 92 donuts that I was saving for Otto 😭😭😭 and I didn’t read this site, so I didn’t even think of contacting EA.

I slowly learned to forgive my hacker… A pet shop is not bad, anyway. Every town should have a pet shop. And it comes with an iguana… I like iguanas. And it comes with a 12-hour job. And gives Selma a 6-hour task. Oh, that’s cool. Let me look on the internet if it has happened to somebody else… Oh, it has! In one case, the hacker has allegedly sold everything and made a nazi symbol with hedges in the landing point of their town?? Ok, have to admit, I’d rather have the pet shop. But Otto, I want Otto so bad! Well, let’s hoard donuts again, one by one… ***one year later*** Gil Deal, Otto and school bus, along with the tetherball and some other playground equipment, for 70 donuts, and I have 76! I can’t believe I finally have Otto! ***one more year later*** Ray Patterson has a 1-hour task there! And it’s animated; cool! ***Few more months pass by*** Jub-Jub now has a full set of tasks! Oh, ok, hacker, whoever you are, I have finally forgiven you. May I ask you one question, though? Why did you leave me with a little over 1 million in-game cash? Why didn’t you buy the Escalator to Nowhere, which would complete the aspirational buildings of that time? Maybe you did purchase the escalator but my game just didn’t sync? 😛

    • I have set my alarm for a 1:00am wakeup with snooze to ensure I get the Supercollider… looking through TSTO’s helpful sneakpeaks this was one of the few items I needed to complete my Monsarno Soilent Green factory 😉

  20. Well it finally happened. I accidentally purchased a premium item i didn’t even remotely want. I spent 120 donuts on complete accident. I refuse to purchase donuts and I had been saving my stash for 7 months. I was super excited about the black friday deals, but now I believe its a classic ruse to get people to get click happy. I feel sick to my stomach. There are so many things I wanted, hence the excitement with 120 donuts. Please help. Is it possible to get a refund? Thank you for your time.

p.s. If it was Otto or something awesome I wouldn’t even flinch….but its an outfit for a character I have and don’t even like. STUPID SKY FINGER!

    • Sorry to hear that! Do you have your “confirm donuts spend” option on? Be careful…some folks have found that, even when they had it on, a new event will sometimes torn it back off (hasn’t happened to me yet, kineahora). At any rate, make sure yours is turned on, because it really helps prevent accidents like that.

  21. Three things

    A) I just went to Krustyland and was offered a Black Friday deal. It was only for discount on tickets but since I already have the unique items I don’t know if there’s more like rides or mascots or something.

    B) Did Marge’s 8 hour job to color her hair come when they added jobs with the unemployment center? I think it did. If so the job she already had at 8 hours was to walk Maggie. Now the only jobs added with that were for characters that didn’t have a 1, 4, 8 etc job and those that only had jobs that required more than one character for that duration. Thusly Watson I deduct walk Maggie is about to become a two character job.

    3) Someone on here about a week or so ago wanted me to add them. I’m sorry but I lost the ID. I have an open spot if you see this and are still interested.

    • Not sure about the Marge task, she’s currently giving blood so can’t check. I know I’ve always had one for her to visit Jake’s Unisex Hair Palace. Always thought that task alone should make her a Perm-ium character 😀

  22. First off…love this site! Extremely helpful for the OCD I have for this game! Spending way to much $$ on this black Friday sale!
Picked up the YMCA, Chester and his shed, Sherri and Terri…so far.
Still plan on getting Dr. Nick, and the Happy Sumo. Hopefully have enough left over to pick up Mondays deal.
Anyone ever wonder how long this game will be around? I’ve been playing for a couple of years now, i think:) Now that I’ve switched to a premium player I’ve starting to think about that.
    Happy Holidays!

  23. Hello everybody!
It’s a horrible day here in Cornwall. Finally getting around to baking Christmas cakes (very late this year) and have enjoyed seeing GB win the Davis Cup this afternoon!
I’ve spent a few of my hoarded donuts over the past few days – Sideshow Mel came at very little cost thanks to a helpful glitch, bought the Cracker factory and have just bought the twins. That will do me for now!
Hope everyone has had a nice weekend. Thank you Alissa (btw Miss Riley is looking gorgeous!)and Bunny for finding the time to keep us all informed.

  24. Non-TSTO comment:
My Fantasy Football team has both the Lions Matthew Stafford and Calvin Megatron Johnson. Those two alone got me enough points on Thanksgiving Thursday that I should have a cakewalk winning the matchup today.

    TSTO comment:
As I said last week – “Hoping for Black Friday deals in-game this weekend and then nothing until the Christmas event starts which I hope will start between Dec 1st to 3rd. A little down time to build-up cash stores would be nice.” So Black Friday sales were right in queue, and I was able to pick up a few more premium characters, woohoo! Now just need Christmas to start mid-week.

    • Hoping for a little longer break than that…maybe Dec. 7? (But probably not much chance of that…)

    • As if Megatrons 93 yards and 3 touchdowns wasn’t enough, my second wide receiver Sammy Watkins already has over 150 yards and 2 touchdowns, and they’re still in the first half in Kansas City.

  25. Hello and happy holidays!!
Question. ..I bought dr. Nick for 90 donuts…and with the deal of 25 rebate…when do I get the rebate….it hasn’t shown yet….thanks in advance.

  26. Hi Alissa, Hi everybody,

Regarding the Turkey event…..there was a point where I didn’t think I would get king size Homer, then suddenly caught up and got him a couple of days ago with loads of time to spare.

Just got Sherri & Terri in the sale, not tempted by anything else,…… hope everybody gets what they want

Been thinking 💡 that in my town where it says “Happy Birthday Brooders” and before that… “Happy Thanksgiving ” ….and before that “It’s a girl” …..I might keep that going with an Advent theme and just have a big number each day till Xmas day 🎄 …….[just so long as American neighbours don’t think I’m a day ahead because I’ll be changing the number before bed (because I won’t have time each morning) and that will still be early evening to y’all]
Or will I need the space for some fantastic Xmas event ?

    🙂

    • Will we get a piece of choccy if we tap on it Lee?
That’s how all the good ones work….. 🙂

      • Sure Phil, just lick the number, and real chocolate will be streamed to you via the interweb ……just request which flavour you want into the microphone, and please make me aware of any nut allergies or special dietary requirements, ….to verify your age, hold some ID up to the webcam and you can choose from our range of classic liqueur chocs

        🎄 Happy gobbling this Xmas ! 🎄

        🙂

        • Ok , will do. Enough with the gobble references already , I’m trying to stop smirking here , and act like a grown up. Won’t last though… 🙂

    • Just a suggestion, but could do a countdown to Christmas type deal 😀

      • NO…… 🙂 it’s on number one already, however counting “down” could be a new year thing but that’s seconds and I wouldn’t be able to change it quick enough 🙂

  27. For just the second time in about five years (when I rediscovered the joy of reading) I’ve put down a book without finishing it. I forget the title of the first but it was a nonfiction book about hypothetical “what if” questions with scientific answers. It was recommended to me and it just wasn’t what I had been expecting. Maybe at another time I’d give it another try but this second book, The Little Drummer Girl, by John le Carré I just couldn’t get into. Which is surprising because I’ve read several of his books and enjoyed them thoroughly. So to any fellow readers out there I ask, what is the best book you’ve read recently? Or ever? Or maybe a few faves? I’m looking for some new ideas and would appreciate any recommendations.

    • Oooh – that’s a juicy question! Before I can make recommendations, it would help to know a little more about you – your likes/dislikes, interests, previous favorites, etc.

If you love wordplay and such, my all-time favorite book from childhood into adulthood is The Phantom Tollbooth, by Norton Juster (with illustrations by Jules Feiffer). Do you like science fiction? If so, I can think of several must-reads. Are you more in the mood for fine literature or an engrossing “beach book”? Do you want fiction or non-fiction?

      • I had meant to be a bit vague…intentionally. I didn’t want to be “targeted” so much as I wanted to hear others favorites. (That, and I’m just so mysterious!) Give me some new and different ideas. Something I might not look into, something “new.”

But I have an eclectic taste in reading. I do like nonfiction but I’ve found much of it to be so dry, it’s like reading a text book. I have not read much sci-fi but I have read a few by Philip K. Dick. I was really enjoying The Man in the High Castle…until about the last five pages. The ending…well I didn’t think much of it lol. Then I read Do Andriods Dream of Electric Sheep? and I would consider it one of my favorites. Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said, not so much. So kind of hit and miss.

My all time favorite book is Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace. Other favorites include but are not limited to: Tom Wolfe’s Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test and The Right Stuff. The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay. In Cold Blood. On the Road. True Grit. A Clockwork Orange. To Kill A Mockingbird. And in the graphic novel genre (have you read any?) Watchmen and Maus I and II. Just to name a few. 😃

        • Hmm…..so, your tastes run a bit dark… I see a lot of folks recommending Steven King…if you want to go that route, you might read Misery, which was by far the scariest of the King books I’ve read (somehow, the absence of a supernatural element makes it much scarier, because it’s so plausible).

Non-fiction…I don’t know why, but Oliver Sachs (Sacks?) popped into my mind…I don’t think you’d find his books dry.

Have you read Lolita? Nabikov is a genius and that book is a fascinating glimpse into what the mind of a pedophile might sound like, which I found fascinating. That was one of my favorite books that we’ve read in my Classics Book Group

          • I enjoy lighter reads also…but maybe my faves tend to be on the darker side. I like variety. After something dark, I want something light. After a work of fiction, nonfiction. I’ve wanted to read Sack’s The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. What are some of your other personal favorites?

    • If you like historical fiction , Bernard Cornwell`s King Alfred series about the Viking invasion of Britain are good . Begins with “The Last Kingdom” and the ninth book has just come out .All available on Kindle fairly cheaply . Modern fiction , I like detective stories by Ian Rankin and Mark Gillingham . Both are UK set police series and both are consistently gritty , down to earth and realistic….. 🙂

      • I have not read much historical fiction, but maybe I need to give it a try. I like detective stories too…I’ve read all (I think) of the Arthur Conan Doyle Holmes books. But my personal favorite detective is Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot. Neither is exactly modern…or if I’m being honest realistic. But fun! I’ll have to look into the two you mentioned for a little more realism. 🕵

        • Bernard Cornwell’s also got a great series set in the Napoleonic Wars – try Sharpe’s Tiger or Sharpe’s Rifles. Either one is a good place to start.

    • I am currently rereading “It”. I’m a huge Stephen King fan. I would recommend reading The Darktower series. I’ve also read Lawrence Blocks Burglar series. Which is more of a humorous, easy read. I also loved Sue Graftons alphabet murder mysteries, also an easy read. One more that was really good is Jean M Auel’s Earth Children. All very good and I love books that are series. I love reading series because it’s so easy to get into the next book.

    • try “the third policeman “. can’t think of the author ATM. very enjoyable with a few laugh out loud moments.

    • Not often will I read a book twice, but here are two that I did.

fiction: “Ready Player One” by Ernest Cline

Non Fiction: “The River of Doubt” by Candice Millard

    • Right now I’m very into Stephen King. Lissy’s Story is one of his newer books but I absolutely LOVED it. The Stand took me a LONG time to read but is such an amazing, immersive experience. Dolores Claiborne is a great book for any woman (or man) who’s ever been scorned, along with Rose Madder. And if you’re in the mood for a quicker read, Four Past Midnight is his best short story compilation imho.
Sometimes I veer off into chick lit when his books start getting too heavy. My guilty pleasure author is Sopie Kinsella. My absolute favourite books by her are the Confessions of a Shopaholic series, but me thinks that’s not quite your cup of tea lol.

      • What, I can’t be a shopaholic? Lol. The only Stephen King I’ve read is Nightmares and Dreamscapes (another short story collection). I thought Dolan’s Cadillac was great. The rest…well let’s just say I’m not a huge fan of short stories. I definitely need to give one of his full length books a try.

    • Anything by John Wyndham is real easy to read, short, and mind blowing. “Day Of The Triffids” is a must-read. Richard Matheson’s “I Am Legend” too, for its massive influence on the modern zombie phenomenon. Even though I’m i my early 40s, I’ve REALLY been enjoying quality “young adult” fiction by Phillip Pullman, Garth Nix and John Marsden’s “Tomorrow” series. Recently read “Picture Of Dorian Gray” – a hard slog for the first 2/3s, then it got better. Next on my “to do” list though will be an HP Lovecraft anthology!

      • Added Day of the Triffids to my to-read list. I’m in my 30s (with 40 approaching fast) and while I haven’t read a lot of YA, I agree that some of it can be good for all ages.

    • blackgypsyrose13

The Zombie Fallout series by Mark Tufo is always a good one and it’s being made in to a tv series set to come out here in America next year.

      • I can’t say I’m a big fan of the zombie genre (in movies or tv) so I haven’t read any books like that, but this gives me something “different” to try. Thanks.

        • blackgypsyrose13

You’re very welcome! Unfortunately the only books I can recommend are of the zombie genre LOL.

          • You’re not a dental hygienist, by any chance, are you? The last two trips to the dentist my hygienist has suggested I watch the Walking Dead. I always tell her I will…but then she’s got “instruments of torture” ready at hand lol.

            • blackgypsyrose13

Nope not a dental hygienist, just a farmer LOL. Although I do agree you should never argue with any one who has all those potentially painful instruments at hand. The Walking Dead is really good, yes there are zombies in it but there is a lot more drama between the survivors and what they have to deal with between the other groups and just trying to survive than zombies.

    • Of course anything by John Swartzwelder, He’s written more Simpsons episodes than anyone, they’re like the Simpsons but more so. His first book is The Time Machine Did It

    • I suggest if there is a book you liked, read others from the same author.

While LOST was on I tried reading every book they mentioned on the show, but couldn’t get through all of them.

My favorite author is Douglas Adams and I like long walks on the beach pamphlets (didn’t I mention all this before?)

Also since you like the Simpsons, get those episode guides and maybe you can help mention characters and buildings and event ideas from it.

    • A topic I can always chat about :). I’ve been on a mystery kick lately and some of my favourites are:

A Touch of Frost by RD Wingfield (series has been turned into a TV series but the books are much better),
Last Bus to Woodstock by Colin Dexter (series has also been turned into a TV series (Inspector Morse) and used as the basis for a second (Inspector Lewis) but again, the books are great),
Cold Granite by Stuart MacBride (very gritty and graphic so no weak stomachs here),
The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley (much more lighthearted),
      and anything by Agatha Christie.

      • Any favorites by Christie? I’m a Poirot fan and two of my favorites are Murder on the Orient Express and The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. I also liked And Then There Were None and I’ve read (and liked) one of the Miss Marple books, but I forget the title. It was turned into a play at my local theater so it was fun to read the source material.

        • Poirot and Marple are good, but my favourite recurring detectives are Tommy and Tuppence (I think there’s four books with them), and I’m fond of the stand alones too. I usually recommend And Then There were None, but try Partners in Crime (Tommy and Tuppence), 4.50 from Paddinton or A Pocket Full of Rye (Marple), or Sparkling Cyanide.

          • I must have read the first of the Tommy and Tuppence series. I had a double book with the first Poirot and the first T & T. I don’t remember it well, but may be time to revisit them.

        • Other great options (mystery-wise) are MC Beaton’s Hamish MacBeth series and Emily Brightwell’s Mrs. Jeffries series. Lighthearted and easy to read, both.

    • My first recommendation would be Stephen King’s “11/22/63.” Possibly one of the best books I’ve read in the past decade.

Two other recommendations are both older. “The Postman” by David Brin was the basis for the Kevin Costner movie, but the book is MUCH better than the movie. The movie dropped several of the best segments of the book, and the last 10 minutes or so of the movie was added, and doesn’t appear in the book. This book first came out in the mid- to late-1980’s, but shouldn’t be too hard to find at used bookstores, and possibly even in larger bookstores with new books, as several of Brin’s books are still in print, and usually in the Science Fiction section.

The other older book, also from the mid- to late-1980’s, is “Replay” by Ed Grimwood. It has a bit of a time travel element – sort of. Without spoiling much, the book opens with the main character, in his mid-40’s, dying of a heart attack, then waking up back in college, fully aware of everything that happened in the 25 or so years between the time he was in college and when he died, and then he changes several things in his “second life.” The cycle repeats multiple times, always with the “death” at the same time, but with each jump back going back a few less months or years, so the replay period is getting shorter. Along the way he meets a woman who is experiencing the same thing, but her “death” point is further into the future, and she doesn’t go back as far as the main character, so sometimes he has to wait for her to recognize him, since their memory of the future is limited to the time between their death and their “re-start” point, and that period of time is getting shorter for each of them. It may be difficult to find – possibly a used bookstore or a library that either has it in its collection or can get it via an inter-library loan.

If you plan to read “11/22/63,” I suggest reading “Replay” first, if possible.

      • Lots of King fans around here! I checked and I can get Replay from my local library. So no problem finding that. And I have a standing offer to borrow a friend’s copy of 11/22/63 so I’m set on that end too.

    • I want to thank everyone for the recommendations. I can’t promise I’ll read all of them (at least not right away) but I really appreciate all the suggestions. Thank you. 😀

    • The Dice Man by Luke Rhinehart is one of my favourite books ever. Also a big fan of White Teeth by Zadie Smith.

      • Well I see White Teeth is available at my local library. The Dice Man isn’t. Is it about Andrew Dice Clay? Just kidding, I looked it up. Thanks for the suggestions.

  28. Happy Sunday ♡

  29. Greetings from the UK branch of the rest home for tired and bewildered tappers.
Following the strange and mysterious , fedora hatted , sunglasses and long raincoat wearing , rather small figures I kept seeing hiding in the shadows and the disappearance of the nice family down the road , who I now remember were called Mr and Mrs Turkey .
I decided to try and find out more . After approaching a great many of these mysterious figures and being either ignored or just having the reply of “gobble gobble” I finally found one who was prepared to talk to me.
My new sauce , sorry , source , who I only know as “feathers” confirmed the existence of several networks dedicated to helping turkeys to escape what he called “the big chop”.
The networks are known as “poultry in exile” or P.I.E. for short and their rival network “poultry overseas territory” or P.O.T. He would not be drawn on the existence of a more shadowy network known as the “overseas vegan escape network” or O.V.E.N. The groups all use the “safe poultry in transit” or S.P.I.T. as couriers for their “clients”
Apparently , the networks are keen to expand their help to other domestic fowl as well as turkeys . This explains the recent appearance of graffiti locally which reads:
“Chicken ? don’t be , join us in the P.O.T.”
    And “Duck ? don’t , come into the P.I.E.”
So “feathers” continued: “If you want to avoid the “big chop” you can travel on the S.P.I.T. although it does tend to go round a lot on the way . A lot of “clients” don’t like being under the “upper crust” leadership of the P.I.E. so choose the P.O.T. Others find the P.O.T. rather open and choose the cover provided by the P.I.E.”
What about the O.V.E.N. ? I asked “feathers”
“Oh , if it exists , which I am not saying it does , I’ve heard it gets very, very hot and there’s not much room to move about”
More info as and when I get it….. Happy Sunday everybody… 

  30. Happy Sunday 🙂
