Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.
So…here is your Open Thread. No new Simpsons tonight. Instead the Oscars will be on (not on FOX though)…will you be checking them out? Which movies this year were your favorites?
The Casino update dropped in Springfield this past week, what are your thoughts on the event? Having fun so far?
Baseball is back! And teams will be playing their first Spring Training games this week. Anyone else as excited as I am?
So who checked out Fuller House this weekend? Anyone else binge watch like it was 1995 all over again?
How was your weekend? Do anything fun and exciting?
So chat about the Simpsons, TSTO, Update fun, or anything else you can think of! Can’t wait to chat with you all, you know we love hearing from you!
Have Fun! And happy Sunday!

None of my Stonecutters have a “rig Oscar night” job. How am I supposed to make sure the right movies win? I mean, what I do in this game does control the real world, right?
I don’t think the Stonecutters have the same kind of influence they once did. Example: Steve Guttenberg 😄
You probably need the No Homers outfits.
Redwood tree stopped working, can’t upgrade it anymore
Same here. I am at 90 out of 100 on level 6. And it will not let me send anyone else. It has been broken for about a week.
Maybe try logging out and back in? Mine is still working. Barney is currently working on it right now. Good luck!
I LOVE this event! I can’t stop tapping. Thank you sooooo much for the crafting post. I would have totally missed hiw to level up. It may take me longer since I was crafting instead of leveling up but I’m on my way. Have a great week!!
Just planning ahead for this summer in TSTO: Bring us the 2016 Olympic Games! Just think of all the possibilities for buildings, caracters, tasks… And you will want it too!!!
Soo something really weird is going on with my friend visits. I visited 30 last night around 9am EST, did all my 90 actions and unlocked Milhouse. I just went back into my friend screen this morning and the 30 I visited last night still had about 8 hrs before they reset, BUT I was able to visit 30 MORE neighbours and get the 900 chips…
Perhaps they’ve changed the friend timer where it resets at midnight instead if a full 24 hours??
I had something like that happen during Halloween. It was just a one time thing, though. I dunno, test it out for us and let us know what happens. 🙂
I think you just lucked out. Just tested in my game and my friend actions are still paying out cash (did my 30 actions last night). Always a nice surprise when the game messes up in your favor!
Maybe you tapped one neighbour earlier than the rest? I sometimes do that to start the timer, and do the main part of the tapping later. 90 new actions are available 24h after the first tap, even if most of the neighbours still have hours left before I can tap them again.
Ahhhh yes that’s it!! I added one of my friends in real life yesterday and tapped in her town in the morning.
Wait…are you saying “real” people play this game??? 😛
I’m watching you! *taps finger*
Hmm….wonder if there’s a connection between that and the fact that I got an extra “dismiss” for my daily task yesterday (as I mentioned in a comment somewhere else). Seems like maybe there was some kind of unintentional “reset” somewhere or something?
I’ve gotten an extra skip a couple times now.
— Query of the Week – –
Coffee or tea? Both or neither? Cream/sugar/straight? Preferred type, favorite brand, brew method, etc?
Wife likes both, but I’m strictly a coffee drinker. Straight up, no cream or sugar. Prefer dark roasted beans with low acidity, primarily Peet’s (Major Dickason’s) or Kicking Horse (Kick Ass). Always aeropress it at home.
Haaaaate tea. LOVE iced tea though, and love my french vanilla coffee. I’m really not picky, just use Nestcafe instant coffee and International Delight french vanilla creamer (they also have a pretty good chocolate mint one). If I’m out and about I’ll either get a french vanilla from Tim’s or a vanilla Ice Cap. And if I’m REALLY in need of caffeine and out of creamer I’ll make a cup with milk and sugar but it’s not my preference.
I also only have one mug I ever use. It’s a cute whimsical looking lavender cup. Not that you asked 😋
I am picky about my brand of coffee (just has to be GOOD) not picky about my brand of creamer, as long as it’s hazelnut. Bf used to do the french vanilla until he realized hazelnut is so much more delicious.
I have an ever growing collection of mugs with owls on them.
I can’t do hazlenut, I don’t like anything nut flavoured, unless I’m actually eating nuts lol. I got the cuuutest owl mug at Winners the other day, but I just use it for a decoritive pen holder lol.
what. pray tell, is a Winners?
Ooooooh honey. Winners is a magical place. If you live in the states and have TJ Maxx it’s basically the same thing. It’s a big store with brandname clothes, housewares, shoes, kids stuff, makeup, purses, etc. It’s all marked down because it’s either out of season, overstock, etc. It’s fun because they usually only have a few of each item so it feels like you’re getting something unique for a bargain 😊
Oh. It’s like a Ross. Yum.
What about cookies with macamadamia ? 🍪 🙂
Those are honest to God the ONLY food item with nuts in it I’ll eat. Brownies with walnuts, pistachio ice cream, Oh Henry bars, all that stuff is gross to me. Nuts must be separate!! LOL
How about Snickers? I won’t eat cookies or brownies with nuts in them. It just ruins the taste!
Nope not Snickers either 😋
Tea, all the way :). I dislike coffee with a passion. How can someone put something that smells so awful close enough to their nose to put it in their mouth? Yech. Tea with cream, milk, honey, lemon, clear … it’s all good. Except cream/milk with lemon. That’s so not good lol. Black Assam tea is my favourite black tea, though it’s harder to find (people these days seem to feel the need to doctor their tea with all kinds of stuff). For herbal teas I like mint, lemon, berry, and hibiscus flower blends. Now I’m off to have a cup ☕️
tea, earl grey hot
yeah, earl grey is my wife’s favorite hot tea. cold, she mainly drinks green.
I LOVE the smell of coffee, but not what it does to me. I gave it up on Feb 1st, the acute withdrawal was over in 2-3 days but I still want it SO BAD. Doesn’t help that my husband still brews some in the morning and I have to smell it. And I’m actually sleeping worse (and hating every cheerful bragging blogger talking about how giving up coffee will change your life and make you so REFRESHED and RESTED). But I’m not quite as anxious and jittery and wired during the day so that’s a plus, and giving it up has helped my stomach a bit. And I don’t want to start drinking it again and have to give it up again, and I might be able to start with the weak stuff but know I will wind up with way too strong and way too much sooner or later.
Most tea smells good to me, though I often like the smell before it’s brewed better than after. I want it just for something warm in the morning; it doesn’t have the hold on me that coffee does. I’ve been drinking a cup of orange pekoe (loose leaf, though I’ve nothing against bags, I save my snobbery for other things) with a splash of whole milk. Coffee I always preferred with 2%, my family would drink heavy cream and half and half in theirs (and my mom’s into the bulletproof stuff) but I can’t stand the mouthfeel. And it’s not like I don’t love rich and fatty things, just something about the coffee needs to be plainer for me.
I dislike any kind of sweetener in any kind of coffee or tea, though I will put honey and lemon in some herbal tea when I’m sick. My favorite herbal tea is Sleepytime…black tea I like orange pekoe best, but also darjeeling and lady grey, and our local store has a great organic cranberry black tea.
i know several people that don’t drink coffee, but like the smell of it. or are you talking about the smell of coffee breath…..? 😎
Tea, but has to be Iced, with lemon and sugar 🙂
reminds me of my childhood summers! going next door to my best friend’s house to go swimming, his mom would always have out in the sun a big jug of tea. brings back memories…..
Now that you mention it, I remember my mom doing the same thing. A big jug sitting on the back steps.
I used to only drink black teas (English Breakfast, Irish Breakfast, Earl Grey, Chai), never with milk or sugar. After a few years I developed a slight intolerance for tea, so I can only really drink tea with food (unless I want to spew). So I basically switched to black coffee (again, no milk or sugar) and I can drink that all day long.
My favourite coffee is Moccona (instant coffee), but at work I drink coffee from a coffee machine that grinds fresh beans. Personally, I’d choose Maccona over ground coffee beans any day, as there’s usually too much bitterness with the latter. I might feel differently if I added milk and/or sugar to my coffee, but both are horrendously bad for your teeth and health, so I’m not willing to sacrifice that for a slightly smoother coffee taste.
Neither milk, nor even sugar, in moderation, are horrendously bad for your health. “In moderation” is key, though. (But, add to that my favorite saying – “All things in moderation….including moderation!”)
i must admit i have never tried moccona. when i think of instant, i think of folgers, yuban, and maxwell house…. *shudders* my brother drank starbucks via for a short time, and that was tolerable, just not my cup of tea… or coffee 🙂
Milk is bad for your teeth? Is it because it’s a “food” and you’re not brushing, or something else?
My dentist told me tea was worse than coffee (both unsweetened) for the teeth, in the staining sense. The inside of my cups seem to bear that out.
Tea is very bad for staining teeth. You can add milk or cream to help bind the tannic acid and minimize staining. Or brush your teeth after drinking it.
I almost always drink it with milk, but need to be better about brushing right after.
COFFEE. must. have. coffee. no talk. coffee. (that’s my first 10 min of every day. I actually make coffee and immediately shower so there’s no opportunity for anyone to speak to me until the coffee is done and in my hand)
As a southerner, I looooooove me some sweet iced tea. I have no use for hot tea and an irrational hatred of it resulting from years of working in restaurants. There’s just something about ppl who order hot tea in a restaurant. Most of them suck to wait on for some reason or another. And if you even think about sitting down at MY BAR and trying to order a hot tea you can just gtfo because things aren’t going to go well between us……
hehe i bought my wife a shirt that simply says “but first, coffee.” you and me (and her), we see eye to eye on this particular point. not the creamer though! 😉
Coffee with cream (actually half & half), no sugar, all day long! And I can’t substitute milk, it has to be half & half or cream or else it doesn’t taste right….too watery. During the hottest days of summer, I’ll sometimes do iced coffee (I drink that straight up), but I prefer it hot.
I use a Cuisinart drip w/ paper filter coffee maker and although I love buying my beans from local roasters as a special treat (anything that’s not a straight dark roast), my budget dictates a more economical choice. I grew up with and retained a love for Chock Full O’Nuts. I know it’s not the ‘best’ but I like it, and given the amount of coffee I drink, it’s the affordable choice.
i can’t lie, when i first started drinking coffee, i liked it with a bit of half n half. and like you, it had to be that, not milk or creamer. when i look back on those days now though, i wonder what the heck i was thinking! 😛
Amen on the cream, not milk in coffee. I just can’t do it. I’ll actually not drink the coffee (and be really miserable). But with tea….has to be milk. Weird, eh? :))
Tea, milk and 4 sugars
Coffee is for girls ☕
“Coffee is for girls”
says the guy putting 4 sugar cubes in his tea….
Four sugars? Wow, you’re as bad as my mom!
Actually, when I was a kid and we would go to a Chinese restaurant, I would pour a whole bunch of sugar (remember those glass sugar pourers?) into that little tea cup. We used to joke that I was having sugar with a little bit of tea.
But now I just use the equivalent of less than a teaspoon for a mug.
Of course your English! Actually I thought tea was for the girls lol! Wasn’t till I made a good friend who used to come over this side of pond and I would go on your side to visit. First time I met his family here they invited me to “Tea”, I was shocked to say the least was confused when he asked you prefer steak or chicken? We had good English beer followed by tons of food & wine, but never even saw a tea cup! I asked later so where’s the tea, they all laughed hysterically. After that he would always put a tea pot on table!
Percolated Yuban coffee with just a bit of creamer, sugar in coffee makes me sick. As for tea love Chai tea when it is made the right way with a ounce of milk and a bit of sugar. For nights I can’t sleep or when I have a panic attack chamomile tea helps, for the times I have a upset stomach ginger tea to sooth it.
Wow – I didn’t know that anyone still percolated coffee!
This thread is turning out a lot more interesting than I expected it to be. 🙂
Are you saying that percolating coffee is uncommon in the US???
Yes, since sometime in the mid 1970s, I think. First there was the Melitta drip coffee cone and filter (came out earlier, but started getting really popular), then automatic drip coffee makers pretty much took over the vast majority of the market. Nowadays, it’s the one-cup Keurig machines (an environmental abomination) that have become really popular (although multi-cup automatic coffee makers are still very much out there) and coffee presses are quite popular these days with some coffee aficionados.
I am shocked. I mean, it means that it’s actually rare to find coffee shops that serve percolated coffee?? What about buying cones and filters, it’s difficult to find them in markets or wherever you would go to buy them?
I agree with blackgypsyrose13, percolated coffee tastes sooooo much better. And it smells so much better, too. The secret to make a good percolated coffee is to never let the water boil, since boiling water jeopardizes the flavor, and add the water slooooowly, so the water penetrates in the coffee powder as much as possible and gives the best of its flavor and smell. It takes me about 15 minutes to prepare a good coffee, but it’s so worth it. Not to mention that iced coffee – something I’ve learned from my uncle from Japan, not sure if it’s consumed in the US – is only drinkable when it’s percolated, in my opinion.
Wait a minute…I think we’re having a language problem here, lol!
Percolated coffee is made with a percolator (a tall metal pot with a basket in the top and a lid (usually with a glass knob on the top) – you boil the water in the pot and it bumps up and around the coffee basket and basically “boils” the coffee). If I got that description wrong, anyone, please correct me…I’ve never used one…just thinking back to the one my grandma had.
What you’re talking about is “drip coffee” – that’s the thing that started out as a manual thing made originally by Mellita (with a plastic cone and a cone-shaped filter) and then became automated, with the current automatic drip coffee makers, which is what I use. The thing I posted the Amazon link to is like a Melitta filter, but it’s collapsible and uses a mesh conical bag, rather than a disposable paper filter.
Although you know I’m not a native English speaker, I can’t help feeling a little stupid now 😛 I must’ve heard it somewhere and assumed that was percolated coffee. I’d seen you say “drip” on your previous comment, but you know when you’re reading something, and there’s a word you don’t know the meaning, but you think you can understand by the context? In this case, it was a BIG fail from me.
I googled “coffee percolator” and now I know what it means 🙂 it’s actually one acquisition I want to make for my new house *stupid, stupid*. I want a small one – just enough for my boyfriend and me in the morning.
Thanks for taking the time to clarify my confusion. 🙂
No problem – I’m glad you made this little mistake…I was beginning to think you were a liar about not being a native English speaker! 😉
Seriously, though…your command of the language and the scope of your vocabulary continually amazes me.
let’s just say that nowadays percolating is more common for testing septic system viability…!
Hey Vanessa.
Don’t you dare feel stupid for misunderstanding this odd language. I think your English is absolutely amazing – and probably better then most native English speakers!
I would never have thought you were a 2nd language English speaker if you hadn’t mentioned it in a comment a while back.
I have for years since I developed this problem with electric coffee makers, they seem to burn out in a week of being in my house. Plus percolated coffee just tastes so much better. Another bonus is you can take your coffee pot camping.
That’s funny…I’ve had the same $10 ($15?) electric coffee maker for about 15 years now. Granted, I only make coffee 2 or 3 times a week – I’ll make a big pot and then keep it in the fridge in a container…two containers, actually…one for decaf and the other for my caf/decaf mix. I only drink a few ounces of the caf mix a day (and not every day – some days I’ll have caffeinated tea, instead) and one mug of decaf (8-12oz?) most evenings. My husband used to drink a pot of coffee a day, but he stopped doing that many years ago and switched to tea. (He’ll reuse his teabag for, like, three large mugs of water…he keeps his mug unscrubbed on the inside so that the built-up tannin makes his tea look darker, lol!).
When I got married, my uncle got us a fancy coffee maker that ground beans and then made coffee with them. That one lasted for about 10 years or so of daily use, then died, but it was nice while it lasted (too expensive to replace, and I really don’t need that level of fanciness at this point).
I have had ones that cost $15 to $40 and they never last but then they are in use from 5 am to about 8 pm daily. My family of 4 adults are HUGE coffee drinkers. So I think that’s why they burn out so fast. Thanks for the link, definitely going to check that out!
Oh, I forgot…I recently got something for traveling, that might be even better for camping, since it folds flat and takes up virtually no room! (It’s really easy to clean, too.)

you doubted your interest level in my first query of the week!? i’m open to suggestions for next week’s query (though i’ll probably still go with what i have in mind already)!
Looking forward to your next week’s query already!
I just never expected the interesting variety of responses…I’ll know better for next time! (Now you have me really curious about the next question you have teed up (as opposed to this week’s, which you had tead up, lol 😉 ) and it’s a long way to next Sunday!)
I forgot about a good chai tea…love that. It’s so comforting.
I used to like plain chamomile but now it makes me kind of gaggy. I use Sleepytime (I think it contains chamomile, but the other ingredients make it better for me) for sleepiness/not freaking out.
Twinings has a nice ginger lemon tea.
Yep Sleepytime has chamomile in it and one other ingredient that helps you relax but I can’t think of it off hand. That is the one that I drink too. I’m going to have to try the ginger lemon tea. Right now I have been drinking Celestial Seasons gingerbread, it’s ok but I don’t really care for it.
I think the other ingredient might be valarian, but I’m also not sure. I haven’t seen the gingerbread one, it sounds good in theory but also like there would be too much going on.
Valerian yes that is it! Don’t know why I didn’t remember that. Personally I prefer Valerian tablets. Way too much going on in the gingerbread tea, I was mistaken about the brand though it wasn’t Celestial Seasonings it was Bigelow. I think it only comes out around Christmas time.
A true story from my time a conscript in the military service:
A soldier visited the doctor because he claimed to be an insomniac. The doctor listen quite extensive to his story and prescribed him 1000 mg of acicdicum ascorbium before going to sleep. It had to be taken with a warm glass of milk. The soldier even got a prescription for that warm milk. The doctor asked the soldier to come back after a week. When the soldier came back he said: “Docter, I’ve never slept that good in years!”
I take 120 mg daily.
I never get scurvy.
Warm milk at bedtime would actually mess up my sleep as I would have to get up and visit the bathroom.
I have heard of warm milk at night to help you sleep but what in the heck is acicdicum ascorbium?
In my place, people like to crack this joke : ” coffee, tea or me? “. Is this joke common at your place?
hah nah i’ve actually never heard that one. i’ve heard of coffee, tea, soda pop, pee, but that was way back in elementary school!
what’s usually the answer at your place?
I only know milk, milk, lemonade…
haha it was like an eeny meeny miny moe to determine which water fountain to drink out of.
your only option with milk milk lemonade was the tootsie roll!
Usually we just laugh over it as it is usually used by a lady that is not easy on the eyes.
Not since the 1970s, lol! 😉
Makes me remember an old joke from the seventies. The TWA airline stewardess would ask if you would like some TWA Soda, TWA Coffee or TWA Tea.
LOL. I haven’t heard that in years
‘Coffee tea or me’ was a book from the 60s or 70s & mayb even a movie (I think). Was about stewardess’. Think I may even have read it as a teenager but only many years after it was published! 😊
Oh , I didn’t know it has such a history!
Neither, don’t actually like any hot drinks….. and best not to start me on foods I don’t like, well I say I don’t like them even though I’ve never tried them.
how about iced coffee or tea?
Even hot chocolate?
With marshmallows!
Both.
Coffee, with half-and-half or whole milk. If it’s before 4:00, I can have it caffeinated, although, for me, “caffeinated” really means a mix of 1/3 caffeinated and 2/3 decaf coffee (can’t handle too much caffeine). Once in a long while I’ll have “dessert coffee” (i.e. coffee as a dessert) that’s sweetened, maybe with caramel syrup or something, like one of those caramel macchiato things or a vanilla latte or something. But I can’t stand flavored coffees – hate the smell and the tast is just *wrong*. (Actually, I liked them a bit when they first came out, but the novelty quickly wore out and I turned against them. Hate it when the coffee shop at work reeks of the stuff…)
Tea, with a bit of sweetener (usually a little under half a packet of Splenda – a full packet if it’s iced tea), unless it’s a kind of tea that’s already sweet (like some of the herbal tea mixtures are). I have a zillion different kinds of teas, including various types of caf, decaf, and herbal — the only kind I really can’t abide is lapsang souchong, although I think it could be interesting to cook a savory dish with or something.
I’m not particularly snobby about either of those – don’t need expensive coffees or loose-leaf teas…most brands work just fine for me. The only thing I dislike is when I get coffee that tastes like it “needs more brown crayon” (as Charlie Brown (or was it Linus?) once said. But that doesn’t mean that I prefer a darker blend…not big on bitter…or particularly strong coffee…just don’t like it if it tastes too much like just hot water with a hint of coffee flavor.
Speaking of coffee flavor, I’ve always been a fan of that…when I was a kid, coffee was my favorite flavor of ice cream!
I loooove coffee flavoured anything. Mocha ice cream, coffee crisp bars, and my FAVOURITE cake is Tiramisu. Mmmmm. It’s my birthday this Saturday and I’m planning on buying myself a Tiramisu cake 😍
Pisces 🐠 🙂
Yup yup yup 😊 Explains why I like the exotic aquarium resort so much 😉
I love tiramisu, but can only have it during the day. If I have it in the evening, it really screws up my sleep (I think it’s both the caffeine and alcohol + fat combo — one keeps me awake and the other makes my tummy unhappy, giving me an unpeaceful sleep).
Hi Sandra, speaking of sleep or more precisely not sleeping, I read last week about you using various noises to help you get to sleep, have you tried a small table fan on a nightstand or table by your bed. I use one both for white noise & I get hot when I sleep. When it’s cold 😄 I turn it away from me, even my doggies like it! I take it with me if I travel also.
Can’t remember if you have iPad or iPhone, if you have either there is also a sleep app called “My Sleep Button” free app you can buy add ons but no reason to. It also works about 90% of time which is great for me. I’m a horrible sleeper, usually fall asleep between 3-4 am and dogs wake me up around 7:30. My doc is giving me crap about not enough sleep, so I’m really working on it.
Hope this helps! Good night 🌛🌟
I don’t usually need any particular noise to fall asleep at night…the racetrack was more if I needed to nap during the day (I’m not normally a napper, unless I’m sick). I do sleep with a small fan in my bed, so I can use it when I awaken during the night with hot flashes. It’s a great little fan…bigger (and quieter) than those tubular hand fans with the exposed flexible plastic blades…this looks more like a small version of a table fan and it works really well. If you’re interested, I can get you the Amazon link for it (although it sounds like you’re all set with your current arrangement). I also pack it in my suitcase when I travel.
I’ll definitely check out that app, though…thanks for sharing that! 🙂
I got used to sleeping with a fan when I was a kid. My Parent’s had a metal box fan that was so loud. I needed that thing. It sadly passed away in 2000. I’ve never found a good replacement. I hate it when I go to buy a new one and they’re all label extra quiet, I’m like excuse me but do you have anything to drown out car alarms and snoring?
LOL!
What sprints to my mind is the story about the clock in an Rolls-Royce:
Salesman: “The only thing your is is a slight ticking of the clock!”
Managing Director of Rolls-Royce: ” We had better do something about this LOUD ticking of that clock.”
Hi Sandra
5 teaspoons of honey (pure honey not honey flavored syrup)
1 teaspoon of ground Himalayan rock salt
(Any measuring size will do as long as the proportions are 5:1)
Mix well. Store in a glass container not plastic!
Put about 1/3 of a teaspoon of the mixture under your tongue and let it dissolve. Do this about 5-10 minutes before bed.
While I haven’t tried it, one of my clients with chronic insomnia has started using this method and has been sleeping better then they have in years and they fall asleep in about 15-20 minutes…
No promises but it might be worth giving it a go…?😄
Funny – I just read about this online the other day. My skepticism was increased by the specification for Himalyan rock salt (actually, I think the article I read said it had to be sea salt for some pseudo scientific reason, which made me write in to say that all salt was once sea salt…) – what’s different between Himalayan rock salt and ordinary table salt?
My guess is that the anecdotal success is largely due to the placebo effect, although I’d love to be wrong and would love even more to see some kind of scientific survey done of it. But, on the plus side, it doesn’t seem like it would do much harm to try it (other than to my time and wallet looking for, and buying, the Himalyan rock salt)!
At any rate, I appreciate the time you took to post that for me…if I ever decide to give it a try, I’ll be sure to come back here and post about my experience with it. 🙂
The way I look at it is: who cares if its only the placebo effect if it’s working? 😄😄😄
After telling you to try it I wish I had remembered it yesterday. I’m lucky and generally have no sleeping issues but last night I only fell asleep around 3:30am! And I completely forgot about this despite having both honey & Himalayan rock salt! 😁
happy early birthday, fellow Pisces!
Thanks 😃
bleh, i can’t stand flavored coffees either, or hot coffee with any kind of sweetener/creamer/sugar. cappuccinos/lattes/macchiatos i used to drink on occasion, but not anymore. i do like iced coffee with vanilla syrup though.
i also don’t do decaf… i love coffee for the the taste, not just the energy boost (and the antioxidants!), but i never really saw the point, since i mainly drink it when i wake up and before i work out. it also used to be yucky back in the day, though i’ve heard (especially from my grandfather) that the decaffing process has come a long way, and it’s much harder to tell the difference now.
i wouldn’t label myself a coffee snob; i don’t care for artisanal/aged coffees like the hipsters do. i just like a dark, strong, smooth cup with a *hint* of chocolate/cocoa at the end. i AM particular about buying whole bean and grinding myself though, as buying it ground will never be as fresh. and i abhor instant coffee (apologies to those of you that can drink it!).
and YES to coffee ice cream, that still IS my favorite flavor! baskin robbins jamoca was practically a staple in my household growing up, hehe.
If you drink coffee mostly for the taste, there’s no reason to shun decaf anymore…your grandfather is right — these days, a decent decaf is indistinguishable from the caffeinated version.
If you still live near a Baskin Robbins, I recommend signing up for their emails…you’ll get some great coupons, including one for a free ice cream on your birthday! Also, they’ve started selling their cones for $1.31 on the 31st of the month (for those months that have one of those). And another tip – if you ask for it, you can get a kiddie cone (single scoop) for about a buck!
i got one within walking distance actually. and i got 2 kids, best believe i’m on their mailing list! get free scoop coupons on both their bdays, as well as on mine and my wife’s. when i was younger, my parents would always get ice cream cakes for my brother’s birthday and mine. tried to keep the tradition alive with my firstborn, but they are just so freaking expensive for how little you get of both cake and ice cream… plus the cake could be a bit on the dry side. so i started new tradition: costco’s monstrous birthday cake with whatever kinda ice cream the kids want on the side. waaaay more for less, and those costco cakes are actually pretty good. just gotta scrape off most of the buttercream they slather on it!
Cold brewed coffee with cream, otherwise it upsets my stomach. Many types of tea; black, green, herbal, hot, iced, sometimes with cream, sometimes just straight. Caffeine preferred, but not required.
I used to be a very heavy coffee drinker (strong and no sugar) until I started suffering from stomach ache more and more. I have chronic gastritis and had to cut down on caffeine, had to deal with horrible headaches due to abstinence, and now I’m able to drink only one coffee a day.
Tea, for me, is just the medicinal ones. I believe in the power of the nature, and I’d rather have some tea than a “conventional” medication.
I reread my post and I think the very last part of my first “paragraph” came out wrong. I mean I get satisfied with only one cup of coffee a day. I can and do drink more, sometimes *much* more…. But no longer as an “order” from my brain. Just because I really enjoy it.
I’ve “given up” caffeine twice in my life and got the accompanying headaches each time. The first time my head felt like it weighed a ton for a day and after that I felt fine. The second, more recently, I had headaches on and off for about a week, but they eventually went away, too.
i hear you on the headaches… for me, it’s important not only to drink the same amount every day (i limit myself to two cups nowadays), but at approximately the same times each day. if i deviate from either, i feel the effects later in the evening.
Wow. I always talk about how I’m addicted to coffe and it really is a drug. For some reason reading your post that says you have to have it at the same time each day really blew my mind! You say you feel the effects later when you deviate, do you mean headaches? I get some pretty bad headaches and migraines regularly, I wonder if having coffee at the same time would regulate that?
yup i meant headaches. i would definitely recommend trying to have your cup(s) of coffee at about the same time every day, and perhaps even reduce your daily consumption. how many cups of coffee do you usually have in a day?
On average I’m only having two cups of coffee and I don’t have any after 3:00. I might have tea or sometimes a Coke is enough caffeine to get me through an evening shift at work.
Me too. I have headaches if I stopped on any day.
In these recent years when I got hooked to coffee, my heart at times will palpitate and I feel like I am passing out. I went to see a cardio doctor but found nothing. I asked him could it be due to coffee and he said yes. And he asked me to quit. I have not done so..
yes, we know how much you love the “power” of “nature”… 😉
Nah, I was even’t thinking of that… But it sure is an example of my belief in nature. It has greatly improved my quality of life, in so many aspects that non-4:20ers would doubt, but I’m sure you’re an expert on the topic.
I’ve always believed in its healing effects. In college we knew this guy who was paraplegic due to a nerve condition. He was allowed to smoke in the dorms at first, there were no prescriptions back then but his doctor got approval for him. Then they changed their minds in the dorm and he wasn’t allowed to anymore. Shortly after stopping he became quadriplegic. He was basically bed ridden.
Then one day we see him rolling up to us in the park. We’re like what happened? He told us he was smoking again about two weeks later he got the use of his arms back.
Wow – that’s some story!
I think one of it’s pain-relieving benefits may not be so much that it takes the pain away, per se, but that you forget to feel it, because your mind doesn’t multi-task very well when under the influence (or, to put it more positively, your mind does a better job of focusing on just one thing at a time).
i used to be a heavy coffee drinker as well (wasn’t uncommon for me to buy a venti AND get a refill of the same quantity in the same day), but i just got obliterated by headaches because of it. i try not to drink more than two cups per day now, and when i think back on how much caffeine i used to put into my system on a daily basis (not to mention my other two favorite stimulants, thc and alcohol), it’s a wonder that i didn’t cause any permanent damage to my body because of it. or maybe i did…. 😲
Thanks for making me Google “venti” 🙂 For me, it wasn’t uncommon to drink nearly two liters (Googled again: 67,628 fluid ounces) a day. Add that to an insane consumption of guarana powder (a plant native to the Amazon, the seeds of which contain twice the concentration of caffeine found in coffee seeds) and you can see where the chronic gastritis comes from. Always stressed, mood swings, horrible sleep, sometimes feeling like I’d throw up or pass out… I’ve given up on guarana powder a long time and have drastically reduced the consumption of coffee.
wow, how did your little asian body withstand that onslaught of caffeine!? i’m glad to hear you’ve managed to drastically scale back though, seems like you were heading down a dangerous road. i’ve never had guarana powder before, but after googling it, i must say it doesn’t sound like something i’d be interested in drinking….
Yeah, caffeine is the only thing I’ve ever been addicted to. Now that I think of it, maybe that’s why my system doesn’t respond well to THC… I was so used to being all energetic, hovering on the edge of collapse, that when I started doing four-twenty (I didn’t back then), my body must’ve been like “what the hell??”… lol
Caffeine and I are very, very good friends!
☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️
Coffee dark beans (we make at home) with Hazlenut creamer, but because of meds I’m on can’t have calcium for another six days, haven’t had coffee for TWO WEEKS arghhhhh. Drinking green tea with honey and I like tea as well, but usually have a cup or two of coffee everyday. Thanks for reminding Tape😟 (Joking but sure miss my coffee). Caffeine headache finally went away.
calcium is only in the creamer… why not try drinking it black, the way you’re supposed to? 😉
Yuck, tried that! I do drink it black when desperate ang getting there. Only three more days and I can have calcium again!
Does anyone else, besides me, drink neither?
Me.
booo! don’t be a davey downer! 😉
LOL I’ll have a Long Island iced tea, if that counts. 😉
If it’s made with real tea, you’ll still get caffeine!
Not really first I only drank coffee with cream but then it started bugging my stomach so I switched to Espresso and the caffeine would keep me up at night so now I only drink tea when not feeling well and it’s always herbal. I haven’t had any caffeine in months upon months. Not that I’m a healthy eater in fact if you have a Bailey’s on the rocks you can convince yourself it’s an ice coffee with cream.
Doesn’t Bailey’s have more than a little caffeine in it? I’ve got a bottle in my fridge calling my name, but I’ve been trying not to have more than the 1 cup of black tea a day. I’m not even eating chocolate at the moment.
I really don’t know. I just know it doesn’t bother my stomach and it doesn’t keep me up and there’s very little alcohol in it, don’t think you can even get drunk off it
Bailey’s and lime juice is good, I hear. 😉
I think I just threw up a little bit
When I was a student we used to get people to drink a shot of each at the same time – it was called ‘A woman’s revenge’! 😄
We called them a “cement mixer.” I did it once. It didn’t taste bad, as I recall, but the texture…well that’s where it gets it name! 😄
Fun fact that most people don’t know…espresso actually is lower in caffeine than regular coffee!
But I can’t drink any caffeine after 4pm if I want to get to sleep at any kind of reasonable hour.
I didn’t drink either until I was…28? 29? Just the occasional cup of herbal tea or hot cider before that. Then I moved in with coffee drinkers and was addicted in short order. They created a monster. I started with one cup of cafe au lait (well really warm milk with a splash of coffee) and worked my way up to nearly a full pot a day of very, very strong coffee with just a splash of milk. Now I’m off it again for health reasons and miserable.
Both, I love coffee AND tea! It’s almost always coffee in the morning and I grind my own beans and brew in a French press. Mostly it’s coffee flavored coffee but sometimes I like hazelnut. And black, one sugar. If it’s later in the afternoon and I want more caffeine I’ll make earl grey with honey at home or if I’m out and about I like a soy milk cappuccino no sweetener. Late at night I like ginger or mint tea.
Give me my caffeine and nobody gets hurt!
Black coffee, no sugar. I make filter coffee in a machine with a timer so when I come downstairs in the morning to feed the bosses (cats) it’s ready! Don’t mind which but must be on the stronger side… If the pots finished before my day is done, Nescafé for the rest….
Occasionally drink tea. No milk, no sugar & v weak (put the bag in, pour in the water & take the bag out! Quickly!!) If you leave it too long get the bitter tannin taste which I don’t like…
True story. I knew someone who was an alcoholic but with no apparent reason: not depressed, not stressed, happy marriage etc. Lived in the UK so used to drink loads of tea… Turns out they had an allergy to tannin and the ‘antidote’ for the allergy was alcohol! Now only drinks Rooibos (pronounced roy bos – means red bush) a herbal tea from South Africa that doesn’t contain tannin.
Both. Coffee is for morning. I have a Caffitaly machine that uses pods for espresso and a milk warmer to make flat whites first thing (Latte with no foam for our US tappers). The day is just wrong otherwise. Generally get another one from my cafe under my building about mid morning. Afternoon or evening is for Tea. Black teas with a dash of milk. Love the antioxidants. Other than that, green or Chinese tea is also refreshing.
I don’t fully understand the use of creamers and flavours as I prefer my tea and coffee as is with no sugar or sweeteners, but have to put it out there that Tim Tams and coffee are the BEST.
Ah – a tapper from down under! I got a package of Tim Tams from an Australian friend I made on the Internet, whom I got to meet in person when he came to visit the U.S.. Those Tim Tams were yummy!
I roast my own beans (from Sweet Maria’s) in a $20 air popcorn popper, it’s much cheaper, obviously fresher and higher quality than any store bought. It takes 5-7 minutes to roast 1/2 cup of beans to the full body+ I like. About a half hour to roast what I need each week. Then Land O’Lakes (only) half and half. Rich, creamy. The best!
you are my hero! i’ve contemplated roasting my own beans, but have yet to take the plunge. maybe one of these days…
Oh, take the plunge!! Swim around in the experience! You get the aroma four times. First when they are roasted, second time when you open the air-tight container after they have rested a few hours, then when grinding and during the brew. Add the ability to really choose the flavor of beans and the intense richness of the coffee itself, it’s another world!! Google popcorn popper coffee bean roasting and you’ll get a wealth of information.
In the morning, two cups of coffee with a fair bit of cream and just a small (less than half teaspoon amount of sugar – applause please – many years ago, I used to put FIVE packets of sugar in an XL coffee…..ughhhhh makes me shudder now just to think of it). Anytime after the morning, tea. I like regular tea or Earl Grey with just a splash of milk, or plain peppermint green tea primarily. In the winter, I’m also a big fan of apple cinnamon (plain).
Coffee, lots of coffee, I love coffee, most often with full milk or cream, or black – especially if it’s a fruity coffee, no sugar. When I’m at home and have time I grind my beans with my small hand grinder. Aeropress or pour over.
I prefer to buy coffees from small local roasters, but I’ll buy a good quality fair trade organic dark roast from the supermarket.
Tea I don’t drink that often, I might make a big cup of Earl Grey or Rooibos in the evening. Don’t know why but green teas make me feel nauseous.
When I was small our great-aunt used to give us Horlicks, but our nanny thought it was dreadful so she made us Earl Grey…with milk 😀
YESSS! finally another person that aeropresses! pour over is also my alternative method, but it’s been a while since i’ve had to use anything besides the aeropress. i take it with me when i travel too.
Aeropress is great, one of my favorite things. It’s so handy and travel smart and it makes a great cup. If I’m going somewhere iffy-coffee-ish I take it with me, as well as my handheld grinder & beans, so I never have to be without good coffee as long as I have access to boiled water. 🙂
But I do like pour over as well, because I love watching the coffee bloom hah.
Coffee. No sugar because I’m sweet enough. Sometimes I will have iced tea (again, unsweetened if possible). I always grind fresh beans right before brewing. I came to appreciate black coffee after Superstorm Sandy hit as I didn’t have a choice at that point (provisions were scarce). So on occasion I’ll have it black. The day doesn’t start until I have that first coffee.
Wow. Popular topic.
I’m neither plus no caffeine at all. Sometimes I’m even awake. 😉
I am about a day behind chip-wise. Should I be worrying? I want the final prize.
If you’re falling behind and the casino tasks, gamblers, and neighbour visits aren’t enough, see if you can’t log in more frequently (at four-hour intervals, or at least not more than five-hour intervals to maximize gamblers), add neighbours to build up to at least 30, spend some coins on Moe’s slots, and turn in courtesy chips for event currency. Or buy La Belle Frottage if you like it – it pays out event currency at four-hour intervals.
Yes!!!!! 🙃
How many chip-earning characters do you have? I have nine of them, and I’m days ahead of the calendar. In my secondary town, I only have six characters working the casino, and I’m about half a day ahead in that one. Anyway, I’m sure you can catch up, but if you have any donuts to spare for characters like the Rich Texan, Princess Kashmir, or Johnny Tightlips, they’re helpful.
I just bought the last section of Krustyland, now maybe I’ll start getting a bit creative.
I’m also really disappointed that the Futurama game is just Hexagonal Candy Crush.
This event is fun, but leveling up for crafting is tough. I would really like to craft the Safari casino.
I’m looking forward to watching the Oscars tonight.
I’m watching it now!! Not really for the ceremony itself (didn’t watch any movie, don’t even know who the nominees are), but for listening comprehension practice. I’m having fun. 🙂
Cough*dork*cough
🙂 Dorks are good people.
I want to watch for Chris Rock. But sadly no TV.
Had to do some research as I only knew “dork” as being an offensive word, but I think I got what you meant. And I am indeed a good person. 😊
Dorks are like geeks or dweebs or nerds. 🙂 I am of the believe that everyone, even the “cool” kids, are one of the above. Like, doctors are medical geeks. Or movie stars are acting nerds (especially those “method” actors).
“Dork” has mostly lost its “offensive” meaning. I always am aware of that secondary meaning but I rarely am applying it to people. Probably never. It’s funny how some of our words comes from having a meaning like that. (A quick search on etymonline.com and I see it basically comes from “dick”, and before I get censored “dick” really does come from “Richard” and only got offensive definitions from the army.)
Even if you did want to say something offensive to me, you probably wouldn’t succeed anyway… Had too many male friends during my teenage years and I got immune to all kinds of mockery.
You know that you can get a small TV for not a lot of money, right? I originally thought the “no TV” thing was by choice (you were one of *those* people 😉 ), but the “sadly” makes me think perhaps not.
Sorry, when I say TV I mean the service. Like in the 50s. I have more than 2 TVs. I watch DVDs and Blu-ray, as well as things “culled” from the internet. It’s hard to find awards shows, usually. Well, I haven’t really tried. Not sure it’s worth the effort for what amounts to a half hour of Chris Rock. 😉
The Oscars was a network show, so you could actually have watched it over the air. But you can probably also find Chris Rock’s opening monologue on YouTube or something. I have to say, it was pretty well written!
I live in the mountains… Can’t get a decent signal. I’d need a ferrite antenna, too. Anyways. I have now seen the opening monologue. Not super worth it. But funny enough.
You live in the mountains?? I’m super jealous. I’ve always wanted to rent a challet in the mountains in a semi-touristic city relatively close to where I live, but it was freaking expensive. :'(
It’s only a good thing if you’re well-off. Think of the Appalachians more than ski resort. (I’m not saying I’m a dirt poor hillbilly. I can afford dirt. 😛 )
Have to agree. I wouldn’t like to live in the mountains in my current financial situation. But I would very much enjoy a brief vacation. So tired of going to the beach.
Vacation with maids to clean up after. Doesn’t matter much where you go then. 🙂
If I might ask, how come you don’t have tv but have Internet? I’m intrigued… Feel free to not answer this if you don’t want to.
Thanks for being considerate. 🙂
It’s not that I don’t want to answer, but I’m having trouble answering. (Trying to make it interesting or storylike, and also not to be too revealing..) A few false starts so far. This will be the winner (when posted). 😉
I’m going to go backwards with this. Obviously, the answer is that I have internet but no TV. The question that follows might be, “why are you sticking with that?” I think it’s okay because the internet includes TV but TV does not include internet. That is that I can watch a lot of shows online, so it’s really not that I don’t have TV, it’s that I just have to pick and choose what I watch and when. Having the actual TV service kinda means just seeing what’s on and maybe zoning out with a marathon of a show that really isn’t that good but just because it’s on. Seeing the shows that actually interest me is more my choice now, either online or on disc. It actually seems silly to pay for all this TV, including blackouts or interruptions because of weather, EAS, sports, etc. I also like not having to see whatever everyone else is obsessed with. To go along with that, there’s less chance of spoilers (usually from unrelated shows). I was thankful for this when Star Wars: The Force Awakens was coming out. It’s a better movie without the backlash from unattainable hype.
The more historical answer is that I stopped getting TV (paying for it) but there’s no way I would give up my internet and phone. So even when times came that I considered getting TV back (and honestly I still miss it…I’m a TV zombie and that’s bad but so is junk food…) it just wasn’t a huge priority or reason to spend the money. The internet is better. I can’t talk to people like you on my TV. 😉 🙂 It’s a one-way portal. I believe that all portals should be two-way.
“It’s a one-way portal. I believe that all portals should be two-way.” – Well said! 🙂
I had to do some Internet research to fully understand how TV service in the US works, and of course I came across a page from Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_public-access_TV_stations_in_the_United_States
So you’re saying that, according to this page, you live outside the limits of any “community”? Or am I just understanding this all wrong?
Lol, yeah. I’m THAT antisocial. 😉
You’re talking to a country girl. Don’t get started on this antisocial talk; I’m sure you can’t beat me.
Well, actually you can, since I moved recently… But I used to live quite isolated (by humans). My internet signal was embarrassingly poor until last year. I miss living in a quiet place.
I have one last question though. How is the view out there? Is it close to the work of art by Mother Nature I’m picturing or will I be disappointed? I don’t want an actual description (well, actually I do, but you probably won’t give me), just an overall impression.
I wasn’t trying to compete. Just an apt description, I suppose.
On describing my area… There’s so many ways one could describe things. Which way did you want? 😛
Okay, here’s the thing: the grass is always greener; you don’t always see the forest for the trees; etc. Some of that is literal. lol So, mostly it’s like ‘this “lusciousness” is blocking my 4G signal’. lol. Just as much as you’d miss trees if you were in the city, you’d miss your technology if you were in the woods. But, if I were to take a step back, a deep breath, and try to actually see what is here…I’d say that you might be jealous. 😉 You can’t walk far without being within 5 feet of a tree. The treecover keeps it cool when other places are warmer. It is mostly quiet, but I do have neighbors…. In terms of a view… there’s, um, trees. lol. You can barely see the sky. Which is a shame since the night sky is quite clear here. Beautiful sky. (You might have one of those in your area. 😉 )
Ask any questions you want. I’m not sure what you want to hear. If you were asking about the inside… This is not a modern “house”. It’s not even a house. It’s good enough, but I’ve been freezing the past couple of days, even under blankets. There was a scary storm here, with a huge tree that is inches from my house. It creaked and swayed. I saw it literally move… and I’m scared of huge things moving, such as blue whales. This tree is huge. Like, is that how the Lord of the Rings ents are supposed to feel? Take out the corner of my house? lol.
Yeah, some good, some bad.
Oh my God. Oh my God. OH. MY. GOD!
You made me so jealous of your “neighborhood” that for the first time I wish we spoke the same language. You can only describe feelings in your first language, so I can’t say how fascinada eu fiquei, maravilhada, apaixonada pela mera descrição do lugar. Hah. Seriously, nature fascinates me. I see Brazilians going to American metropolises such as NYC, San Francisco, Orlando… As for me, I’ve always thought to myself that, if I ever go to the US, I want to see some green. Different animals, different trees. Trees! Now I can’t stop thinking about those trees you mentioned… They must be beautiful and terrifying at the same time, especially the one you said it’s huge. Oh my.
It’s really sad you can’t see the sky. When I look up at night here, I see Crux constellation, and I keep thinking if I’ll ever see Ursa Major… At least I’ve seen Mars and a few shooting stars. 😉
I might be asking too much now, but if you feel like sharing pictures of those trees… I don’t care about your house (you are aware of my honesty, no apologies needed, right?), but seeing pictures of trees, nature in general, taken by a person I “know” who actually lives in such an area, would make me *so* happy!! No filters, no photoshop. If you don’t feel like sharing publicly, but it’s okay of doing that privately, I believe you have my secondary e-mail, from my comments on your blog, right? And if you don’t feel like sharing at all, that’s okay, too. I really don’t know if I would do so if it was the other way around. I mean, I don’t really care about sharing personal *written* information, but sharing pictures is a whole ‘nother animal… Anyway, what I’m trying to say is: please don’t feel pressured or uncomfortable in any way. But I’d very happy to see some pictures. But it’s okay if you don’t want to share. But it’d bum me out. But it’s your life, your privacy, I understand. But it’s just some trees!… 😛
Speaking of nature, I have a visiting possum some days. It’s also Simpsons related. No, not called Bitey, but mostly because I’ve never seen any little ones.
Today is my son’s 24th birthday. He missed having tomorrow being his 6th birthday by an hour and 15 minutes.
Happy B-Day to your son.
I was scared that this was another death. So sad.
Glad it wasn’t.
Don’t think the rail yard is gonna happen this week
*Rob Schneider voice* You can do eeet!
I’ll get there. It would be nice if they could lay off the need for metal. Think they’re doing it on purpose
As of Sunday 10 pm Chicago time, I just finished the rail yard for this week. I also have 57355 red chips, 970 Club Cards and three blips to Level 2.
Send the three casino/can people to go recycle an hour before you sleep. Then send them to the casino when they’re done. You’re gonna lose out on 4 hours of casino use anyways. This way you get 30 extra cans every day to help out with the rail yard. That’s 210 cans of help.
I hope that helps. Tip is from another forum.
Wish I had seen this earlier – or been bright enough to think of it myself! Will do it as soon as peoples are done at the casino (2 hours 35 minutes to go…) cos I’m doing well on chips (81555) but still need 5500 for rail yard before 10am tomorrow!
Nice simp7fan!!👍👍👍
Glad to help. Just spreading the knowledge.
That’s exactly what I’ve been doing! If there’s not enough to time for another 4-hour stint at the casino before I sign off for the day, I’ll send them on a round or two of metal recycling and then send them to the casino overnight.
But it’s still been tough…didn’t finish the rail yard stuff until mid-Sunday. And I’m thinking of forgoing it for the first time ever this week, so I can focus those characters on grinding out the last $100M I need to get in SH, so I can get Paris. But I’m not sure I can just turn my back on the possibility of 5 free donuts, so I might just try to see how far I can get with the resources I have available and, if I don’t make it, I don’t make it. Seems to make more sense than not trying at all (although I suppose that not trying at all would be simpler and less “stressful”…).
I only made it an hour ago, today! 😛 I win/lose.
Good luck on the SH grind. You’re pretty close. Having Paris would ironically help you out with keeping up on the Casino and with the Rail Yard (using this technique). I’m still like 350million away. It’s temptingly close.
I was so close last night. I needed two more rounds of metal to make it with just over 2 hours before the reset. Then a friend called and we talked for a couple of hours and I missed it. First time so far
Friends or a game, right? That’s just fine. 🙂 As long as they don’t make a habit of it.
hi guys have an interesting picture to share…. It clean!! How to I add to a comment?
Upload the picture to a hosting site (DropBox, Flickr, whatever) and then include a link to it in your comment.
I have a question, why was everyone so excited when they brought the limo back? Does it have a really cool questline or task or something?
has a bit of a % bonus, and doesn’t have a DMV sign stuck on it, that’s my guess.
I got one, there’s no questline or anything. It’s a fairly decent % to donuts spent ration. Nothing special. I think it’s just….aesthetically useful? Lots of design incorporation potential.
Ya another vehicle is always welcome. Just wish it didn’t cost donuts. There’s not very many vehicles for in game cash. Even just generic blue, black, white cars would fill in some gaps in my town nicely.
You can craft cars in Springfield heights too (they are red cars/Lamborgotti Fastorossa) and they cost 10 of the trophies from the movie theatre.
But.. you do need to be at real estate value $55,000,000.
Ya I crafted one of those. But the trophies are one of the hardest things to craft. Hard to make a lot of them.
I used up all my trophies during the blitch. How ever many days that was I’m now back up to 200 trophies only using Bumblebee Man.
Hi Lee 😄
Hey Everybody, happy Sunday!
No plans today still ordered to bed rest, go see surgeon tomorrow, so send me thoughts NO SURGERY, NO SURGERY!
Good thing about “resting” is I’m almost caught up with all my backed up shows on DVR yeah! Been tapping a lot! Boy, it’s sure a lot of work to level up that task bar, going in every couple of hours only at 5 bars grrrrrr. Loving going to all my friends towns and seeing the progress you are all making.
Also took up the adult coloring books, color while I watch tv or listen to music/audio books, keeps my mind calm.
If I have to be still, good timing as “Baby its cold outside” lol. I’m sure compared to most of you it’s not cold but to wimpy FL peps it is (50-60) it’s the wind making it cold. Even my boys are cold all curled up by my side, you can’t tell which on is which other than color both upside down wrapped around each other! We are still going out at sunset but shorter amount of time they look at me, with a look like don’t you know it’s cold? I know there pep on this site suffering more than I, and I send you all good thoughts and hope you are mending, and amusing yourselves. Hang in there, hope we all mend soon!
Yes Alissa so happy baseball is back yahoo!
Just finished Sleepy Hollow, I love that show! Another series down.
Thanks for reading my rambling. Happy tapping and good luck with those level bars!😊❤️🐶🌞⚾️🎼📱📺🖍
Thinking “No Surgery!” thoughts for you! 🙂
Yes, you’re all wimps! 😉 I’ve been going out in shorts all winter (because of my disability) and 50s and 60s seem positively balmy to me at this point (although you’re right that wind does make a big difference…even whether there’s sun out or not makes the perceived temperature seem different to me).
I don’t miss the excruciating pain, but I do miss the “leisure time” I had when I was out on disability because I was in too bad shape to work. I managed to binge watch all of Weeds, all of Breaking Bad, and all of The Sopranos (in addition to catching up on what was on my TiVo).
What I’m doing while down, getting caught up. I would so give up laying around, and getting my life back. I hate being inside going stir crazy. Weather helps with it being “cold” lol. Not to mention our water, beaches and rivers are contaminated, so can’t go anyway. Plus can’t eat the fish or shrimp! It’s down right disgraceful what they are doing to our water. All I’ll say about that only to follow rules of this site.
Your cold is my warm. It was 60 yesterday and just beautiful out. Today back down to 30s. I sure liked the 80s I saw when I was in FL in December!
We’ve been about -40 lately (fun fact – that’s the same temp in Celcius and Fahrenheit). Luckily, it has warmed up a lot, but still below freezing 🙂
And it’s also too cold in either lol!
hahaha, yes! Even us hearty Canucks agree that that’s freaking cold.
The coldest I can remember it being here (Minnesota) was about -25F and that was PLENTY cold for me! ❄️🌨☃⛄️😀
Hey, I was in Minnesota 2 weeks ago. 🙂 First time there. I never got outside of viewing distance of the Minneapolis airport, but what I saw was quite beautiful. Looks like a great place. And surely it’s been colder than -25, that’s not even freezing yet and you guys get plenty of snow, right?
Whoops – realized my mistake 2 seconds after hitting send. I was thinking 25, not -25. 32 is freezing, right?
32 is freezing, -25 is freaking freezing, -40 is freakingly freezinger (when it’s that cold, it deserves a made up word!). I’m sure it’s been colder than -25, but that’s the coldest I remember seeing, sometime in the mid 1990s. The windchill was something like -60, but I think how they determine windchill has changed since then. It was kind of a big deal at the time because the governor closed the schools, which was great, since I was in school at the time. My best friend bundled up and walked half a block to my house, then I got bundled up and we walked two blocks to his grandparent’s house. His grandma was so worried, “you should have called me, I would have picked you up.” Bah, we’re hearty MN boys! So instead of spending the day learning, we spent the day rotting our minds with tv and video games and rotting our teeth with candy and pop. Good times!
My aunt’s cousin was in about -40 in South Dakota. She got stuck in a snow drift and like all good Midwestern folk she carries cat litter in her trunk to get traction if needed. She slipped on the Ice, hit her head and they think she was unconscious about 20 minutes but it was long enough for them to have to amputate her feet. You don’t mess around with that level of cold
No, you sure don’t. Never had to deal with anything like that myself, but have heard some real bad stories from others.
77 today 😀 Nice thing about FL cold doesn’t last long, supposed to get cold again by end of week.
Mornin’ (afternoon, evenin’), all!
Thought I’d better post now, before I start work for the day….I don’t like that I have to work on a weekend day, but at least, I do like that I can work uninterrupted and actually get stuff done. I had an important, and fairly urgent thing I needed to get done at work on Thursday/Friday, but both days I spent the day non-stop putting out fires and helping others, and couldn’t even touch this work (not to mention another project that I’ve been working for almost a YEAR to complete, but that has never been top priority, so it just kept getting pushed, and pushed, with some work on it happening on a random day here or there when I’ve had the uninterrupted time to do it (like other Sundays)….
But enough whining about work – on the flip side, I’m just so grateful I have a job, because, if I didn’t it would be disastrous, since I’m the sole support of TWO households right now (and my husband and I both have significant medical issues, so we need the good health insurance my company provides)…
Yesterday was a real up-and-down day, with some fun stuff and some frustrating stuff. But, overall, it was just nice to have a day off from work and to get out of the house for the first time since last weekend…. My fitness club had their “grand opening,” which I attended. Good: Free samples and stuff from the various vendors who had tables in the gym to promote their products and services. Also, a free L.A. Fitness towel as the club’s gift. Bad: Was so excited to try my first Zumba class – even made sure to get up and out a bit earlier than I might have so I could get there in time for it. Didn’t make it past the first 10 seconds of the class, since the music was so deafeningly loud it was seriously painful. As I was leaving, I mentioned that to a couple of people who said, “Oh, yeah – I usually wear ear plugs when I attend.” Ear plugs?!? One shouldn’t need ear plugs to attend a damned exercise class!!! (Don’t censor that word again, Alissa – Bart uses it, so I should be able to, too!) I spoke to some staff and they said to talk to the instructor; I talked to the instructor and she basically said (though not in these words) “too bad for you…too bad if a couple of people don’t like that – I had about 50 people in that class.” Yeah? This is supposed to be a HEALTH club – how is that good for those people’s health?? And, the funny thing is, my hearing isn’t even all that great these days…I know I have a bit of hearing loss (or at least diminishment (yeah I know I just made that word up)), based on how much higher I put the volume on the TV than I used (and based on my husband’s complaints, lol!). So, if I thought it was really loud, what must it be like for people who actually have all of their hearing (at least for now…)? Now, granted, I’ve never been able to handle really loud music – one of the reasons I’ve never gone to a rock concert or a dance club. But, really…you can still have somewhat loud, energizing music to get people moving without having to make people’s ears bleed….
Now wasn’t that a fine rant? 😉
One more rant… So, I had signed up with the another market research app and they had qualified me to do a $10 survey that was supposed to involve going to my local Macy’s (a large department store chain, for my non-American friends here) and visiting the women’s shoe department and taking pictures and answering survey questions, etc. So, I went to Macy’s (which was a pain, because the mall parking lot was really full) and started up the survey. It said to pick the Macy’s I was at on their map (which I did) and then to walk around the department for a couple of minutes and then the survey would become available. I ended up hanging around the shoe department for about 15-20 minutes (tried on a couple of pairs of sneakers, while I was waiting) and it never appeared! What a waste of time and trouble. I wrote to them to say that they should give me my $10, but I’m dubious… Then, I came home and did a somewhat lengthy Quick Thoughts survey about lamps….got to what should have almost been the end, and it suddenly tells me that their over quota for my group and dumped me out and gave me the $0.10 non-completion consolation prize, instead of $1 I should have earned. I mean, this was not just after answering demographic questions or a few lamp-buying related questions…this was after answering bunches of pages of questions about which of their lamps would be my first choice, second choice, etc., and why, and evaluting different box designs, and talking about how much I thought they’d cost, and where I’d buy them, etc., etc. No WAY that shouldn’t count as a completed survey! I wrote to them, too, but we’ll see if anything comes of that…
Not too much TSTO stuff to say…. By far the hardest week at the rail yard, because I had almost no one available to recycle metal. And that was with starting the week with a completely maxed out stock (meaning as maxed out ABOVE the maximum as could be). This coming week I won’t have that…my glass got stuck just a smidge above the max when I got to the end, so I can’t get it properly stocked up. But I did get my bonuts this week,, albeit not until this morning (the latest I think I’ve ever finished). I’m tempted to just skip it next week…but….free donuts! But, is it worth the tsuris? Not sure yet….I’ll see how I feel on Tuesday. (But I also realize that, if I decide it’s not worth it, it’s not just for this week…it will be for a few weeks, since this event isn’t going anywhere and, unless those metal workers won’t still earn chips and tokens in Acts 2 and/or 3, it will be the same situation until the event ends. Of course, I also didn’t really have as much time to maximize my rail yard yield this week either, because work was so crazy, so maybe it will be a little easier if I can pay more attention to it next week…. What to do, what to do? (This should be the biggest problem/decision I should have in my life, lol!)
Oh, and it was a good donut day today (without even having done tonight’s neighbor visits yet)… Got donuts from the rail yard, Maggie, and the daily task (3, for that!)! It’s really cool seeing how quickly my donut count is climbing back up from where it was after I bought Jesse!
Okay, enough…(well, much more than enough) – was this the longest post ever? If so, what do I win? 😉
Yes I feel the same way about loud volume. I accompanied my friend to attend a dance fitness class of which 90 percents are hot ladies. The con is that the music played was too loud for me. And at a particular dance studio where I did salsa social dance, they like to play the music loud too. I was seriously considering to bring a ear plug with me the next time. This is why I do not like to go to a club as the music is too loud for me. I think my hearing might be affected slightly from frequent artillery fire back in training back in my army vocation.
Might have been your guardian Angel looking out for you with the loud music in Zumba. That’s kind of a rough class with you healing from back injury! Understand about music though, when I walk into a store in the mall & music is incredibly loud I turn around and walk out! Don’t get why it has to be so loud you can’t even understand it when it’s that loud. Just thought I would add to your rant and yes that was one of your best!
I’m sorry to hear about your experience at the fitness club Sandra. I’m addicted to the Les Mils Body Pump classes which they offer at Goodlife. All the instructors are extremely gracious and make a point of asking the class if the music level is good (not too quiet, not too loud) and encourage them to speak up if they have any issues with the volume. In addition, the club has signs at all the amps indicating the max volume (I forget what it is – fairly generous). If it’s a very large room, you might do alright to find a spot as far away as possible from the speakers… Like you, I am just getting back into the fitness scene. I was extremely fit, and worked out 2-3 hrs a day, 6 days a week only a few years ago (I know it sounds insane – but it really wasn’t. I would usually go right after tucking the kids in, and do a class and some time on the elliptical.) Unfortunately, my husband suddenly became critically ill, and even after he was released from hospital, all the responsibilities fell on me – whereas we were a very 50/50 couple before. Not only was I not working out, but I had some kind of stress reaction and my metabolism basically stopped. I put on a ton of weight which really impacted my quality of life. Mostly, I realized how much the gym was my psychologist – not just my physical fitness. Recently, I put my foot down. My husband is much better, although he will always have chronic pain issues, and I said that’s it. Time to look after me. So, even though it almost kills me, I look around at the messy house and I walk out the door and go to the gym. I’m also religiously using my fitbit and logging my food, etc. It’s only been since Feb 3, but I’m down almost 12 lbs – yay me!!! Not only that, but I feel so good. My digestive issues are completely gone, I feel so great instead of greasy or however I felt that I didn’t know I felt, I have way more energy and at night, I am tired earlier, and fall asleep so quickly and rest better. Anyways, sorry, didn’t mean to hijack your post, but just to say that I’m sorry something your club is doing has made it less inclusive for you – and don’t give up!
Congrats. That sounds like a nice life (the good parts). I’ve been feeling that way a bit about junk food. I’m just so very bad at the alternative.
Yes, it was pretty long. But you lose points for breaking it up into paragraphs. 😛
It’s almost a week later. Hi. I barely finished my last rail yard, but this week’s I’m almost done with. So, just depends on your luck with what’s required.
On the ear health: seriously. Ear health is one of the many healths to look after. The management shouldn’t let any of their instructors possibly hurt any of their patrons. Even over-exercising can harm. They should be aware.
I have worn ear plugs to rock concerts. It’s a good thing. But that’s an incredibly loud rock concert. I’m not there to exercise or get healthy. Nope, not with a margarita in my hand.
If you’re paying for this class, sounds like you are, I’d complain again. Your health at a health club should be of the utmost of importance.
Wow – that was a trip to the past! Lol!
Fortunately, I’m didn’t (and wouldn’t have to) pay for the class, per se…free classes is part of what you get for the monthly fee. This particular class was also a special one, as part of the Grand Opening celebration, so even non-members could take it.
It seems like the instructors may be more contractors than employees. I did speak to two club employees, but they both said that it depended on the instructor and to talk to her.
But the funny thing is, there’s a commercial playing these days in which you see this guy, who’s a spy or something, involved in an elaborate chase scene, with helecopters and such, and his phone rings. It’s his mom, calling to chat. At one point she says, “Why does it sound so loud over there…are you taking a Zumba class”? When I first saw the commercial (pre my Zumba class experience), I just thought she meant general background noise from music and such. When I saw the commercial again after my Zumba class experience, I realized that what the instructor told me must be true…that they’re known for their really loud music! So I’m afraid there’s no hope…
I had to read the ear plug story! Sorry.
I’m against most fads. I barely signed up to play TSTO because of its freemium status. Just saying that Zumba sounds silly. You don’t need ’em.
Just curious…when you say you “barely signed up to play TSTO because of its freemium status,” did you mean that you would have been more likely to sign up to play it had it been just premium or completely free?
Completely free. I’ve spent $5 because of this game. Maybe $10 more if you count the Google Opinions Rewards. This is what happens. But because it is Simpsons is why I have invested myself in this game. I had previously played some tinyco freemium game. All I could see was it’s money making potential…I could not see why I should be playing. That turned me off to the genre.
For my fellow gamblers, what is your biggest win? For me, at a casino, I cashed out $300 after starting with $40, or $60, I forget. That was playing $5 and $10 a hand blackjack. Playing online poker, when that was something you could do, I won $1,200 in a $10 buy-in tournament. That was a good night! Actually both were.
I once won 4oo$ at a wizard of oz slot machine i had “always been meaning to try…” It was on the second spin too. I cashed that @#$% out and walked away. It was bitter sweet b/c I love the WoO and didn’t get to really play the machine.
Nice! I don’t know when to quit…
Got to set a limit before you start (and stick to it)
🃏 🍒 💲 🍉 🔔 🎰 ♣ 🎲 🙂
this is why i no longer go to the casino…. unless it’s vegas!
I only go, maybe, once or twice a year. From 18 to 21, and being from a small-ish town with not a lot to do, it was more often. But at 21, the options opened up a bit. I’ve also been told I don’t know when to quit certain other “vices”…
THAT’s the machine that my mom wanted to play that had us wandering around the casino for, like, 30 minutes to find one during my trip to the casino a couple of weeks ago!
Of course, neither my mom or I would ever make $400 at a go, since we only play 1 or 5 lines at a time, for a penny a piece, lol.
I made just under 3100 percent by buying Qualcomm in January 1998 and selling in January 2000.
Now that’s an impressive ROI!
I made the investment because I needed a safe place to park some money because the nuclear power plant I was working at announced that they were closing. In 1998 I figured that they would continue to make chips for cell phones as that industry did not look like it was going away.
Wow! Are you single? Oh, wait…I’m not… Okay – wanna adopt me?
(Of course, that’s assuming you had made a significant dollar investment in the first place….)
😉 😉 😉
It was a five digit investment and it has paid for college for my offspring and allowed me to retire three years ago on my 55th birthday (well the next day as my birthday was on Sunday). My wife of 38 years and I go on week long vacations four times a year. So, it was significant.
Now I sit in front of my computer and ‘Buy low and sell high’ every day.
In between tapping of course.
In 1970, my dad gave me some stock when I was twelve and I have been reading and learning ever since.
I’m so jealous! Good job – and let me know if you have any really good “tips” you want to share about a particular investment. I doubt sharing it here will cause a run on the market. 🙂
We do have a few ‘adopted’ friends that we like to spoil. Mostly those that work hard but don’t have a lot. We provide Santa type gives that they don’t know who is giving to them. Although one family is suspicious that it is us, we deny it.
I’m not a gambler but I did win $200 on a slot machine in Vegas on my honeymoon. We put in a 20 and won on the second spin. I finished my $20 and walked away with a total of $245! We tried the same machine a few nights later and didn’t win again and haven’t gambled since!
Hope that wasn’t the only time you got lucky on your honeymoon. Hey-o! 😉
I have only been a handful of time – usually when others want to go, it’s not really my thing – never won much, but with slots, I decide how much I am willing to spend on a night out and then I keep those tokens in one cup, and put winnings in another as I play. When I’m out of my original tokens, I walk away and cash out. That’s it!!
Hubs and I have had good nights at the craps table. We’ve walked away up $1000 + after hot rolls. Of course we’ve had a lot of cold streaks too lol. But when the table is cold we don’t lose too much, since we’re smart about how we bet. Helps when we both play because we’ll give each other the death stare if one of us starts to bet stupidly.
My parents are HUGE gamblers. (they’re both 7 stars in the total rewards casinos…for those who know what that means. For those that don’t know..it means they spend way too much time and money in the casino) They’ve had nights where I’ll get a text from my mom that she won 20 grand at video poker..however she won’t ever tell me how much she lost to get there lol
High rollers! A friend won just under a grand on a slot machine once. I was 18-19 at the time so I couldn’t even get some drinks out of it lol. I think he bought me some food though.
I think you can play online poker in NJ still. I’ll teach you to play (unless you already know how), you put up all the money, and I’ll take 25% of the winnings as a teacher’s fee. 🤑
lol given that my parents game of choice is video poker…i assure you I know how to play 😉 I just prefer craps. It’s more exciting.
I promise though hubs and I are not high rollers. We set aside a certain amount we know we want to use for that trip and that’s it. I haven’t played craps since before I found out i was pregnant with Riley though…
I meant your parents. 😛 You’ve got a new kind of craps to deal with now…😉
lol that’s true…
Sounds like your mom and dad need to learn about 529 College Plans for Riley.
lol my parents have 4 kids…they didn’t pay for college for any of us. They now have 7 grandkids (and counting), I don’t think college tuition is on their minds for any of them. But it’s ok because all of their kids are out of college now. And this is a relatively new thing for them, well within the last 5 years. So whatever makes em happy is what i say. They’ll never retire, they both enjoying working too much.
My husband is working away for the next week, so I’m expecting to play a LOT. Hopefully I can make up my chips shortfall from having such a busy week that I haven’t played anywhere near enough to keep up with the calendar!
Go back and read that again………
You just announced to all the men on the internet that your husband is away all week and you want to do a LOT of playing around
🃏 🙂
Hi all! Big fan from the uk here!
I wanted to ask about how you play the game (il go into more detail) I’m currently on level 56. I’m a freemium player (aside from gills offer to go with the introduction of the XP Booster…. Who could let that pass)so it takes me a while to build up my cash and donuts. However as it takes me so long to save for a building to progress (currently 200000 off getting the over pass diner) I’m holding off playing Springfield heights, mr burns money mountain, the redwood tree etc. I plan to make the required purchases to progress. And then when I hit level 60 ( or whatever the max level currently is) il work on other tasks, buying land (at the moment buildings are put where they fit)and buying extras to work on my conform-o-meter. Do any of you play this way or do you use other methods to make the best of your game?
I love the game and this site! As a sufferer of anxiety it’s great for me to focus my mind on something! And TSTO does just the job. Happy Sunday!!
For the longest time I was levels above my quest line progress (like 30 levels) and I can’t remember how many items were in my task book but it was a lot! Struggling with money and always behind. It was still fun, but I never knew what quest I should work on next. Thank you so much to the addicts and their level walkthroughs! When I finally found them (my xp was about level 50 and my game play about level 20), I used them to unlock the buildings/characters as fast as I could. Ended up with a serious number of character quests running concurrently.
Then I deliberately kept my game play about eight levels below the max level because my cash flow was seriously tight. I would hold off on purchases ’til the price lowered to the base cost. And I ignored the money sinks. That lasted about six months. I was enjoying myself so much I splurged on doughnuts with an iTunes credit I’d had for over a year. (Now I spend money on doughnuts regularly). Thanks to premium characters/buildings/decos cash flow is not a problem anymore (and then tennis courts and wailing walls came out and it’s REALLY not a problem anymore). I’ve now finished the money mountain, the IRS building, and have purchased about half of the aspirational buildings. And I just spent about 15 million on the last strip of land without out hesitation.
Now I buy doughnuts when I want and pick up premium characters/buildings/decos I like. I don’t regret any premium purchase and, though I often wait for the ‘should I buy’ post here, more often than not I make a different decision than our beloved addicts. I prefer characters over buildings but will purchase either if I like it. I buy items with multipliers if I think the value is good and it fits in my Springfield. Valentine’s Day was the first time I spent doughnuts on an item without a multiplier, but I’ve wanted those pink items for my Krustyland for a long time. The only item I regret passing on is the golf course, but 100 doughnuts for a 1% bonus is insane. I’d probably make the same decision today and I’m much freer with my sprinkles now.
Now I just build my town, and I’m working on SH and revamping Krustyland – I just nuked over there. I’ll probably never nuke my Springfield proper but the new cut and paste tool makes that much more ok. More info than you probably wanted 🙂
I am freenium too. I played it as if I am managing real estate, land use and income are important. The con is that I don’t really have a lot of space for free expression.
I only started last May and my strategy was to:
1) Use minimal land, initially crushed the buildings together (saves money on land and makes it super easy to collect). I love seeing how much I can place in a very small space, sorry sad I know!
2) I focused on buying people and then builds that earn decent money (no decorations unless part of a level). When deciding what to buy look at the return on investment. I did calculations in my head: (item cost / 24 hour earning).
3) I run 4 hour jobs during the day and evening, and 8 hour over night
4) I avoided anything that just gobbles money (money mountain, massive tree etc.) until I reached level 59 and was earning 200k a day.
I’m happy with my progress and now feel I’m making good progress every day which is allowing me stretch my legs with other fun stuff…..
Hi yawl tapped out and addicts ♡
Happy Sunday ☆☆☆☆☆
Alissa thank you SO much for all your posts this week. …I know it’s been rough….but you are super tough lol …what a wonderful woman!
🙂
I thought Agnes should have had a task to gamble at the casino. She does bingo. I think Mona does, too.
And Marge, our resident gambling addict! Maybe they’ll get jobs in act 2. Hope.
Agnes might be quite broke unless Skinner supports her with some allowance. Hence, she has no money to go to a casino. Bingo might be an activity organised for the old folks?
I guess, yeah. But game logic could allow for it.
Good morning tappers! The sun is out here and the weather is going to be warm, I’m off and I’m SO EXCITED!!! Going to get some brunch (who doesn’t love day drinking) and then go for a walk to burn off this Nutella French toast I’m about to devour. Yesterday I had a migraine and stayed on my couch all day but it worked to my advantage because now I’m at $938 million SH and even closer to Paris Texan! I was going to hold off on grinding Heights when the update hit but I think it was TAPEBELT who mentioned that she helps with the event and now I’m unstoppable! Almost there!!! I also managed to get ahead of the calendar and I started today at 50,000 chips! I want those bonuts!
I’m jealous — if I weren’t having to work so hard right now (for work), I would be right there with you grinding SH until Paris was mine. That was my original plan at the beginning of this event, but it’s not happening. 🙁
Sounds like you’ll have her just in time for her to be of no use when act 2 starts! I’m just kidding, I have no knowledge about the next act or if she will or won’t still be helpful. 😄
Hahahaha, it’s a possibility!! What does act two hold? Nobody knows! I’m almost there though, $959.51M. I should have her in time to help with some bonuts at least!
Only a few more upgrades and she’s all yours!
Having far too much fun with the Casino! WooHoo! Rearranged some areas so that I now have a nice Casino Area–surrounded/separated by water & accessed by bridges. Having fun decorating, tapping, & MUCH too much fun gambling at Moe’s!
I’m sure that I’ll become a lush once they start awarding Martinis. 😜🍸🍸🍸🍸
Is my computer broken……there’s NO WAY I was first…..Thanks for that crafting post Alissa. <3
Must be borken.
Lol. I was indeed not first.
Good morning Gamblers!!! I booked my nights at L’auberge for spring break! Anybody else find that they’re in the mood for some real (no offense to Moe) gambling?
I’m with you Sam! The hubby and I just spent the weekend at Ameristar (casino) so we had our fill! LOL
Spring break? It still feels like winter.
The highs here are in the 80’s, and spring break is in two weeks! WooHoo!
I’m cold. But I’ll just wear gloves. 80s is to radical for me.
Haha. It’s too warm for me in truth.
Ya I’ve NEVER understood why it’s called spring break either… Most spring breaks I can remember there was still snow on the ground!! It should be in April or May imho.
You have to spring break in another country.
I’ve got a little bucket that’s nearly full of change. Last week I was wondering what I should do with it, when I cash it in. Now I know exactly what I want to do with it!
You’re brilliant. How did I forget about that bucket….
Sometimes I use my brain for thinking. But only sometimes. 😉
Good morning all. I’m looking for some ad ice on La Belle Frottage. Has anybody bought it and if so do you think it’s worth it? I notice the payout is in red coins. Does that mean it’s usefulness is over March 6? Appreciate all comments.
I love the La Belle Frottage casino! There’s no missions or characters that come with it, but it’s a cool add to your Springfield. 🙂
Agreed!! I’ve seen it in a few Springfields and it’s AMAZING. Too expensive for me though. Wish I could swap out Casino Brittania and get Frotage instead.
Hi Rev! I purchased the La Belle Frottage casino and I think it makes a great addition to your Springfield. I haven’t seen a quest line associated with it, nor a character, but depending if you’re a spender or not I’m happy I purchased it!
Sea Captain has a 16 hour job there. It doesn’t have a title
Good question on the payout.
It will pay out green chips in the second act and blue chips in the third.
I have no specific info on this but have played TSTO for several years, and in past events, items paying event currency pretty much always pay cash after the event ends.
I love it, it looks great. I’m assuming it will continue to pay chips through the other acts, but who knows. Also, the Sea Captain has a 16 hour task there ( it has no description in his task list…I sent him to see what it was and he went to LA Belle Frottage!) The lights on the wheel light up when he’s there. However, the task only pays cash, not chips.
Anyone else disappointed that you can’t place Burns Casino on the Squidport? I had a whole section planned out for a casino area.
You can now, they changed it so all casino stuff goes on Squidport.
Try again. New patch fixed that.
I wanted my Moe casino on the beach. That still doesn’t with. I think.
Oddly enough, I want my coffee shop on the boardwalk. Trying to make a reasonably accurate SF.
Do you try to follow the Guide to Springfield? I do. It can be hard, but I like how my town turned out. Now to get the Badlands. 🙂
Uhh yeah I’ve tried to do that a few times, but being missing a few buildings its sorta hard to make sure you leave enough room for when said building is eventually released, could leave too much, could leave too little. Also, I’ve seen some “accurate” SF screenshots, and personally, I like mine better so far lol. Basically I’m putting buildings generally where they should be, but probably not exactly, and others just where it makes sense, or is funny. Like the political buildings, to me, make more sense between Heights and SF, instead of around the park. Kinda hard to determine the north south east and west in TSTO, unless anyone has any suggestions.
My town is generally like the guide (as much is possible to do so) but I make adjustments as I need to and I don’t force something that isn’t working. . The Mountains are West in my town. When I redid my town a couple months ago, I made sure everything nearer the mountains had as much room as they could and squished together the East side for when we get new land. That way I can adjust only half my town instead of all of it. I still have plenty of room though for new stuff.
So come on new stuff. 🙂
What made my town out of whack was my park. The guide makes the park so small. I probably used more land than I should but I have a decent sized park lol. Enough that each side easily fits 2-3 buildings along the street at least.
That part of my town is tight. I need another strip of land on that side, so I can spread out my zoo and park, because the park area does need to be bigger.
That is a pretty reasonably request.
😉
Is the winky for my typo? I really did mean “reasonable”. I wasn’t making fun of them. If you’re making fun of me that’s perfectly fine. 😛
I thought you were hinting at my request for the Badlands (I think I got lost in the tree structure of the replies). I don’t usually bother people about misspelling unless I can’t understand what was meant. The only places it really bothers me is in corporate memos, newpapers, and anywhere someone is trying to get me to spend money on something.
Alright. I was replying to the request to have the coffee shop (from SH I believe) placeable (sp?) on the Squidport. I don’t even know what a Badlands is, except that maybe it will bring dirt roads. Which would be awesome. (Otherwise I’m a bad Simpsons fan.)
You can now. It can also be placed on Ornate Pier tiles.
Are you sure??? Try again..
Because i can place it there, looks great.
On which device do you play?
Try again, I think it was changed with the last patch.
They had an update. You can place it there now.
Awesome! Thanks guys 🙂
Actually NOT confident there, I felt like I took about 6 seconds longer than my best time 🏁 🕛 ⏳ 🙂
Damn it, I knew it was too good to be true.
I LOVE this new casino update. Normally I don’t splurge on events, except for Halloween, but this one I HAD to make an exception! I’ve already got a design started and I’m excited to share when the time comes! Hope everyone’s been having a great weekend! Happy Sunday!
Me too, it’s awesome. Can’t wait to see the Homer and Cletus casino games. Only spent donuts on the Vegas wives, but they’re a great buy. Only complaint: leveling up in crafting and collecting player’s club cards both take way too long!
Also, if anyone’s wondering, I can confirm that tapping gamblers in friends’ towns does get you the occasional bonut. 🙂
Hi 🙂
Higher ☆
Highest (on life, not other stuff :D)
Do you just sit in front of your computer and wait? <3
Don’t need a computer, there’s a chip in my head
🙂
I am a chip off the ol’ block
Love you, Lee, but you really need to get a life! 😉 😉 😀 😉 😉 <3
I only said hi, ….you wrote a book about earplugs at the health club
🃏 🃏 🃏 🃏 🃏 💲 🔔 🍉 🎲 🍒 ♣ ♠ 🙂
Lee, I take it back. You are the best! 😄
Well, now you’ve hurt my feelings. *pout, pout*
I should have known this would come back to bite me. As someone with an older brother, in this case played by Lee, I know all too well about getting into trouble for something HE said/did. Not that I’m not culpable.
I should say that I always read your comments with interest and I, too, share a dislike for loud music but I couldn’t help but chuckle at Lee’s comment. Anyways, I certainly meant no disrespect and hope you’ll accept my apology.
No worries – I was just teasin’ ya! I was gonna include a couple of winkie faces, but I figured that the pouting would be enough of a clue that I wasn’t really serious.
But it does make me happy to hear that you find my comments (or at least some of them) interesting! 🙂
I didn’t think you were being too serious. But I’ll take a good natured “kick in the pants.” It’ll keep me in line. 🙂
Yeah, but I didn’t sit there refreshing my screen non-stop for hours waiting to be first! 😛
(And, the way you put it, you make it sound like a missive on ear plugs at the fitness club isn’t riviting? Okay, well…what if the fitness club was…wait for it…in space? And the ear plugs were necessary to keep people from hearing the paralyzingly cries of the alien who was invading the fitness club. Would that make for a more interesting story for you? Well, okay, then, fine….I guess I shouldn’t have left those little details out. My bad…)
I’m looking forward to reading it.
Actually I was refreshing my screen for hours while wearing earplugs, so I wouldn’t get distracted by the real loud music coming from the fitness club across the street (why do they need it so loud?)
