It’s that time of the week again, time for the Addicts Weekly Open Thread! So, let’s get the conversation going! Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

The Casino update dropped in Springfield this past week, what are your thoughts on the event? Having fun so far?

I may be a little behind on realizing this.. but you can now pick your level for your fully upgraded SH buildings (like the pool)! So exciting, I’m glad EA really listens to their fans/gamers and takes our ideas into consideration.
I’m enjoying the casino, but my concern is getting the coasters, keychains, etc. The payout doesn’t seem high by tapping the gamblers or playing the slots. Leveling up AND crafting seems like it’s going to be tough.
Also, anyone else getting tired that it seems like the same characters are overused in the game? I understand this is the Simpson’s game, but it’s super annoying trying to finish up the Heights, building monorail tracks to get donuts, AND participating in an event using the same characters for EVERYTHING. Granted, this event hasn’t done as much, but there are a ton of other characters in the game. Let them do stuff too.
I think they use earlier characters a lot so the newer players can participate in event. The pep who have played a long time and have a ton of characters forget how long it took to get there. My feeling is EA is trying to make it fair for everyone. You can’t get all characters till you keep leveling up in game (not event we are in now). I too wish we could use more of our characters but understand the thoughts of EA.
Just completed my 2nd Krustyland visit for the day. If there really is no hope for expansion there, I wish they’d make the premium items into freemium.
I like radioactive waste and mutant ants as much as the next guy, but this rocket ship is getting frustrating.

Poor splash screen dealer Homer looks a little dubious about pulling that card from the shoe. Since he’s showing a six, I sense a face card coming and the “house must hit on sixteen” rule is invoked. Plus, you know Skyfinger is getting ready to split those aces. You think maybe Sky Guy stacked the deck?
Player always has first move, so it wouldn’t be a face card to mess with his 6 unless the player has called to stand already.
Good point. Maybe it’s still a face card, giving a split Skyfinger the first of two possible twenty-ones. Or maybe Homer just can’t add.☺

I hope my fellow addicts had a wonderful Leap Day Eve! Fun Fact, did you know that in places like Thailand, Leap Day birthdays are celebrated on February 28th, but in The Uk it’s celebrated on March 1st?

I thought here in the UK we followed the unwritten rule if you’re born before midday on 29th you celebrate your birthday on 28th, born after midday March 1st, guess if you’re born at exactly midday you get to choose. Whatever, it’s kind of cool if you ask me.
Huh. Interesting. I would have thought each family would do whatever they wanted to around that. Wonder what bars, etc. say though for legal purposes when one is looking to celebrate the first birthday they are legally able to drink (or get a student driver’s permit, etc.)
I’m confused on something, maybe someone can help me out.
We’re supposed to get chips for the first 90 actions with friends, right?
I’ve been testing the past couple of days and I’m only getting 89.
I visit 30 friends each day, tested and made sure I visited no more or no less. Everything goes fine until the 30th friend. Actions 1 and 2 produce chips, action 3 does not.
I’ve tested this over a couple of days, and I’m 100% sure I’m not tapping anything other than gamblers in another town on these actions and that all previous actions are cleared and not effecting (even waited 30+ hours between visits once). Why am I not getting that last action to count?
I’m also pretty sure this has been going on for a long time, but I never spent the time to prove it.
Ya that’s been going on for a loooong time. Some people are furious about, I personally couldn’t care less.
I’ve been thinking of ways to joke about Fuller House (something I don’t care to see but surprised by the number of people outside of TV talking about it). So I thought, why stop there? Why not have “Step by step by Another step” or “Perfecter Strangers” and the last one I realized something…. The Tanners meet the Tanners (maybe they are related) “ALF 2.0”
Now bring me “Denver The Last Dinosaur” movie and “Captain N: the game master” while I eat a bowl of Nintendo Cereal while I listen to the theme song of “Camp Candy”. 😛

Actually, I think I just read recently that they’re planning to do a remake/reboot of Perfect Strangers! Didn’t hear anything about the title though – if I had any say, I’d make it a prequel and call it “Pluperfect Strangers.” 😉
Oh man…all these shows coming back i love it. If they bring back Mr. Belvedere I may pass out 😉 Of course the ultimate would be a remake of the Golden Girls..and I say remake because 3 of 4 are no longer with us. 80s and 90s was when TV was at it’s best..at least in my opinion. They just don’t make em like they used to. Nowadays shows are made for critics..and I can’t stand most of them.

I think there are a lot of good shows on now, but I also think that there are too many “dark” and “edgy” shows…it’s like everything has be “dark” and “edgy.” Don’t get me wrong…I can enjoy “dark” and/or “edgy” shows, but I like them balanced with some lighter ones. (I’m talking hour-long shows, not sitcoms.)
Believe it or not, they’re going to be doing a live-action reboot of The Archies (called “Riverdale”) that’s “dark” and “edgy.” (Archie is “harboring more than one dark, terrible secret,” Betty has an “emotionally brittle mom and a goth-like sister” and Jughead will be Archie’s *former* best friend, because of some kind of rift that took place between them. He’s “angry, but with a philosophical bent…” I mean GMAB! I’m waiting for it to turn out that Veronica is a cutter or something…)
people like dark and edgy…those damn millennials lol Personally I like funny and cheesy. TV should be relaxing..I don’t wanna have to think while watching it. I do enough of that all day…
Oh, I love a show that makes me think! That’s not to say that I don’t also enjoy some shows that emphatically don’t demand that I think at all, lol. But what I don’t want to have too much of — what dark and edgy is — is depressing stuff. Make me think, fine. But don’t make me unnecessarily depressed. So tired of post apocalyptic stuff and ugly power trips and people being really mean to each other. Again, wouldn’t mind a couple of those (if they’re good enough to make it worth the angst), but when TV is much more gritty and depressing than fun and uplifting, it frustrates me.
I remember “Denver The Last Dinosaur”! In fact I still have them and MANY other 80’s cartoons on VHS. My parents used to religiously record all of the classic (and even some not so classic) cartoons for my brother and I. I think I literally have over 100 VHS’ in the closet under my stairs. The best part is they all still work and I’m able to show them to my kids now:) Do you remember the ones like “Lucky Luke” , “My Pet Monster” and “The Archies”?
Whoops…Also i know The Archies wasnt from the 80s…oh well still a good cartoon:)

I am SO thrilled that finally somebody remembers Denver the Last Dinosaur!!!! 😀 I used to love that show, and I’ve been trying to find it on DVD ever since 2001-ish.
Come to think of it, I haven’t checked in a couple of years, as I’d long since given up hope. Maybe your post is a sign, Tot, that I should look for it again and hope somebody finally released it.

Hope everyone is enjoying the event so far. I have a lot of free time due to some health problems, so I’ve been able to get over 50,000 chips so far with the help of Paris and her Daddy. I’m breathing easy.
I picked up a Sony PS VIta a couple weeks ago. Does anyone else have one of these? Even though it’s sort of a dying platform, there are some good games available for it. My favorite is W2C World Rally 4.

My boyfriend has one and I enjoyed playing Smart As! He has had his PS Vita for quite a long time now, and is thinking of trading it for another video game, platform, console or whatever… Can you see I pay attention when he talks about video games lol.
Typical thought of a TSTOHead: Watching the “Pranksta Rap” episode and wondering, “Why doesn’t Milhouse have a task to play frisbee with himself?”
Unfortunately, I think I’m going to have to uninstall Tapped Out, as it’s just become a memory sponge (since even though I have ~425 MB open on my phone, I can’t download that latest, mandatory, patch.)

When I heard about the anniversary I felt like an old person saying (in an old person cliche voice) “Back in my day, we only had 151 Pokemon, not like you kids today”, “and we did a thing called the Poke-rap, and Ash’s cap had a green Nike Swoosh… Good times”
My oldest daughter pre-ordered Pokemon Red and stayed up until 3 am to download it. I never played it, but my kids help me when I play Pocket Morty’s because it is played like Pokemon. 🙂
yay Pocket Mortys! I’m playing that too, a little less than I was at the beginning but I’m still trying to get the one true Morty. I like to play PM on my phone while I’m grinding out yoga mats.
Those damn yoga mats. I’ve never hated yoga as much as I do lately….but at least I’ve finally opened up all my SH land lol

Kitty – That’s what I’m doing too! I’m working, but on a bunch of really boring teleconferences so grinding SH – mats especially. sadly, I’m only around 264K. I REALLY wish I had worked harder sooner so I could have Paris Texan helping out with this event. (Thanks a lot Alissa et al for saying “Take your time. It’ll always be there…..” (Just kidding!!!!)

A lot of EA’s games seem to take up a lot of storage. I used to love playing the free version of sims on my IPhone but it just took up way too much space. TSTO hasn’t been as bad as that game was with storage and I’m really hoping it stays that way because I’ve spent so much time and effort on it.
Anyone else tapping moleman thinking he’s a gambler? Also, gamblers move so quickly after tapping they remind me of “fast” zombies……(kinda). Lol
I did that to Kirk once, which made me feel extra sad for him.
Anyone else find it odd that Lisa can work in a casino underage? Sure she’s showing off her talent at gambling, but she’s not legal 😀

Hello Fellow Tappers!
I have a dilemma, so I have decided to appeal to your experience and knowledge to help me with a donut decision….
I have enough donuts to purchase one of these items….but not more than one:
The Rich Texan
The Vegas Wives
La Belle Frotage
Granted, the Rich Texan is not a limited item but will help with event currency. The Vegas Wives are two limited time premium characters that will get me Player Club Cards but not help in gaining event currency (so far?). La Belle Frotage, while a large building, is limited time and will both help gain event currency and give me Player Club Cards.
It’s all too confusing! They all have their pros and cons! Any advice for a freemium tapper like me?
I suggest either wait a few more days before doing anything due to romurs of a deal possably poping up or get the Rich Texan.
Guess it depends on if you like Buildings or Characters (regular voiced characters or one hit wonders that aren’t voiced) or a building with a semi-regular that isn’t voiced (oops, I probably said to much) :O
I went with buying the Vegas wives. While they don’t currently help… they may in the rest of the event (but don’t bank on this) and they are two separate characters with interesting actions. Another thought is the fact that they are limited and their price may go up for the rest of the event if they suddenly become useful. I’m personally not finding it difficult to keep up with the chip requirements with the rich Texan (expensive by comparison per character), princess kashmir, Paris Texan or Belle frontage (really expensive for a building on its own imo). I’m actually a day ‘ahead’ of the calendar requirements and I had been playing at around level 28 before the event started. So if you are worried about chips evaluate you daily count and see if the Texan would help for now… there is no guarantee this character will continue to help in future acts either.
You will also want to weigh whether you would want these characters around after the event, or the building.
Maybe something in these ramblings helped?
I’d get the casino, just because I really love how it looks. Most practical choice is the wives though. Two separate characters who will still be used after the event.
I was considering getting them, since they did seem like a good deal, but then I found out they were ghosts and, for some reason, I don’t really want ghost characters in my town.
I’m still gonna wait for the SIB to make my final decision, but, for now, I don’t think I’m gonna pick them up. (Fortunately, since they don’t earn event currency (at least yet), I can afford to wait a bit to decide.)
The ‘should I buy’ post for the Vegas wives went up on the 25th. They are a great deal, but it should always come down to personal preference and what you want in your town.

Oh, wait – I did read it! I seem to remember being turned off at the idea of having yet another character stumbling around drunk in my town. Between that and the ghost thing, I had kind of thought of maybe skipping them. But they are such a good deal….kind of hard to decide what to do! I wonder if they’ll be helpful in any future events and such (of course, only EA knows for sure, and even they might not know the answer to that yet)….
Sandra- I didn’t even realize until you pointed out more characters stumbling around drunk, but it just clicked with me, these are the only two characters I put on that task!! The other drunk tasks bother me so much, I even keep Bernice Hibbert and Freddy (Freddie? Huh.) Quimby on their 24 hour tasks to avoid them, and I keep Smithers in his Stonecutters robe (although lately I’ve had him spreading glitter with Fairy Kodos, since that’s the whole reason I bought the FK skin and I’d forgotten all about it). I also keep Barney in his Astronaut Barney skin now. I know I’m forgetting some of the drunks, but I’ve got so many work-arounds that I can’t think of them.
I don’t know why the drunk tasks bother me; I think it’s just the animation on the particular characters that I find kind of depressing. But the Vegas wives? They’re *living* on their 4-hr drunk tasks. Maybe I just like happy drunks. 🙂
I’ll actually probably end up getting them, since they’re such a good deal…just was waiting for Act 2 to get going. Unless they start helping earn event currency, I might just wait until I finish the Act 2 prize track, to give me something to do while waiting for Act 3.
Yeah that’s the first I noticed it. I always noticed the number of people who can walk around with knives. I put them all on task at once and it was like West Side Story.

Unless your tapping is going to be very limited, don’t choose what to buy based on what’s going to help with an event, because a) EA generally makes it possible to earn all the prizes with nothing but diligent tapping (as long as you’re not a really low-level player) and b) the event will be over in a few weeks, but you’ll own that purchase for the rest of the game.
Instead, buy things that would give you pleasure to own and/or that give a good return in the game in general. I’ve allowed an event to change the priority a bit among things I was already planning to buy (in other words, I was already really wanted to get it at some point, but I’ll get it now, instead of the other thing I thought I’d get first, because it will help me with this event), but I’ve never bought something I felt lukewarm about just to help with an event.

Agree 100%. The only thing is that if I really, really want two things and one is limited time and the other not, well, obviously I go for the limited time. This explains why I played for over 2 years before I finally got Barney, LOL!!
Same, limited time only always get me! And then I can never justify buying something outside of an event- hence why I still don’t have Jasper but have a few of his skins waiting in inventory. I always say I’ll get it later and then something new and sparkly comes along.

I know The Simpsons is considered a cartoon, but just like South Park, Family Guy, etc. this isn’t necessarily a kid’s game, and neither is the show, so parental discretion advised…
While the Simpsons isn’t as bad as Family Guy or South Park it still isn’t that family friendly and they most likely wanted to keep it that way in the game. Many jokes in the Simpsons are inappropriate. While I think it’s a good show for a family there is some stuff you want to watch out for in it.

Something has been bothering me and wasn’t sure when the right time to mention it. If you look at the Grand Prize for Act 3 you’ll see Gabbo and (his handler) Arthur Crandall. Yet Arthur (similar to this image here) has a skin tone that I haven’t recalled him having on the show. It might be a tan, it might be EA trying to get the Latino vote (wait EA isn’t running for office right?), it could be The First Apearance of Smithers but in reverse… I know it’s a conversational subject of sorts but… what is going on? This is EA trying to create diversity?

Assuming this non-confirmed item comes to be (lol), I would have no issue with the Barney-ish rebate – IF they kindly gave the skins for free to those who coughed up the full donut price and already have the character in their towns. This to me, seems like a very fair way to go. Thank the players who already paid, give a “freebie” via the rebates to those just buying the character, and future players would have to pay full pop for player and skin (IF they were available). Maybe at some point, they might also get a deal.
Added a new zoo expansion for a polar bear exhibit and a rest area. I hope one day the release Mr.Burns polar bear statue and I can add that to it. I didn’t have too many “wintery” decos to chose from.

I have a nice vacation coming up. It’s my birthday on Saturday and I’m flying out to see my family and old friends on Thursday and staying for a week. So excited!!!! Haven’t been “home” in almost a year.
Unlocked magic Milhouse last night, about 4000 chips toward the casino Britannia, not very excited about that building…but very excited for what’s supposed to be released tomorrow. 💁

Got caught up on a lot of shows this weekend, still haven’t started the new season of The Walking Dead yet. But I’m about 5 episodes into Scandal. I heard a lot of good things about it but so far I’m a little bored with it. Anyone know if it gets any better?

I liked the 2nd-3rd seasons of Scandal….I think the 2nd season is when Olivia’s dad and Jake start being part of the show and there are some interesting plot lines with them. My problem with Scandal is that I HATE Fitz and could never understand Olivia’s attraction too him…he comes off as such a jerk to me.

Seems like lots of tv watching going on with tappers this weekend! I don’t watch Scandal so can’t help you there. I did get caught up on a bunch of other shows on my DVR. on Dr Who, almost half way through this season, I just started watching “The Doctor” last May, loving it! I go back and forth from what I have on Amazon & new shows, as past seasons are so expensive, so I try to catch what I can free even if out of order but makes for confusion.
I hope you have a great trip and even better birthday! It’s always nice to go home for a vacation, kind of funny, we leave home, then we spend our vacations going back! Where is home, if you don’t mind me asking?

Thanks HH!! I know, I was so excited when I moved out and now all I wanna do is go back!! Home is in Ontario, only an hour long plane ride away now thank God. I live in New Brunswick, but when I lived in BC it was a 1 hour flight, usually 2 or 3 hour layover in Calgary, then another 4 hour flight. *shudders*

I was actually able to complete this week’s railroad track, I received the five donuts but when I logged back in last night and they were gone.. Tried contacting ea, they have my case open so it’s just a waiting game now ..has anyone else had this happen to them?
It sounds like your game didn’t sync. I always go to the friends screen or Krustyland before closing out the game. Hope you get them back. 🙂

I’m having a small pickle with Springfield Heights. I just noticed that I only have 2 Business Centers but can’t find it in the “shop” any more or in my inventory. Was this time limited? I can’t remember if I built them but I think I did. Should these be under decorations? Any idea where they might have disappeared?

Did you check the Springfield Heights part of the menu? They would be there, not in the regular buildings part of the menu. (Sorry if you already knew this, but I’ve found it best not to make any assumptions…).
If you’ve really only built two of them and there really are none in the SH menu, then try uninstalling and reinstalling the app (make sure you have an Origin/EA account first!!), and, if that doesn’t fix it, it’s probably time to call EA.
Here in the UK we were lucky to have a new Simpsons episode tonight, although we are behind you guys in the USA. But it’s good to have the little yellow people back.
Had fun at my little nieces dance display yesterday, they could certainly teach me a move or two.
Fuller House, Full House, they don’t ring a bell for me but you guys all seem mighty excited.
And it’s to snow this week, well guess it will make a nice change from rain, we really need a dome over Scotland to keep us dry for a wee week or two. A nice dome mind you, not a Stephen King dome please.

I think I’m understanding what it is to be a gambling addict. I have been tapping on the event gamblers Pleeding for Tokens but they rarely give me any, “PLEASE, PLEASE!!?” Desperately searching my town for one more event gambler, “Any one? any one out there, that can spare me a token? PLEASE?”, often making strange claims of what I would do for those tokens, things that I’ll be ashamed of later. “Just pay me in tokens, that’s all I ask”
It’s a sad existence… But I would like some tokens… I’ll make it worth your wild, anyone? Anyone?

Finished all the Krustyland Quests yesterday. What a nice surprise to learn that I can now trade in Krustyland Tickets for in game cash. I’ve got only eight more plots of land to buy and then I can start to arrange Krustyland the way I want. Too bad we can’t spend in game cash for Krustyland tickets.

I need help! I’ve been trying to remember the name of a book I read in high school for weeks now. I THINK it was loosely based on Tristan and Isolde but googling “books based on Tristan and Isolde” came up with nothing.
It was about a tumultuous relationship between 2 people. They met as kids, lived in the same neighbourhood, played in the woods together, etc. Drifted apart and met again as teens at a party where I think the girl got attacked in a courtyard near a fountain? Drifted again and met as adults. The girl was super successful. The guy became a crappy drug addicted musician living with a bunch of addicts. He ends up dying and the book ends with her scattering his ashes in a garden.
I’m pretty sure it was written by a woman and I think the girls name in the book was Isabelle?? Ugggh it’s killing me!!
I found it!! For anyone interested it’s called The Romantic by Barbara Gowdy. And it’s loooosely based on Abelard and Heloise not Tristan and Isolde. I’ve never googled so many random things trying to find an answer lol.

There’s plenty to find on the Internet. The Tristan and Isolde myth has roots in meadeval France. It was later found in Germanic poetry, and even later was adapted into an opera by Wagner. There’s also references to the fable in England.
