Chili Cook-Off Pro Tip: Grow Corn

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Quick tip for y’all….Grow Corn!  As in, start it right now.  Before you complete Part 2 of It’s Not the Heat, It’s the Humidity…where you unlock the ability to grow Peppers at Cletus’ Farm, start growing Corn.  And turn on your XP Collider (if you’re someone who uses it, and willing to grind out some XP to get more donuts.  Otherwise don’t worry about the collider…)

Once you complete Part 2 of It’s Not the Heat, It’s the Humidity the corn will Auto-Complete for you.

This will ONLY work if you start growing corn prior to completing part 2.

I can confirm, this works.  I sacrificed some donuts in my game to test.

So start growing and good luck!

  1. You just had to mention the collider…. I just used it the other day. I’ll do a quick calculation and see if turning it on is a must.

    • In my game I will be rewarded 41981xp, or 209905xp with the 5x collider on. I’m at level 130, so this doesn’t even get me half of a donut. (The lower levels starting at 61 would get 5 donuts.) I still have 4 million money, so I could earn more donuts by spending it. But it would basically be unrelated to the corn…. hah.

  2. Funny thing. After 3 years of continuous play, I finally just started a corn cycle 11 days ago. I figured, WTH? Now it is paying off very quickly! Thanks for the tip!

  3. NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

    3 hrs too late 👎

  4. Thanks Alissa. I was lucky to catch the original level up glitch and jumped to level 939. I assume the collider won`t help me here but hope others catch it.
I will complete part 2 in about 45 minutes.

will witch marge , speed up crop work for peppers/

  6. This is a follow up to my previous post. So I’m at level 939. I need one million XP to “level up” now ( I.e., get bonuts). I have an XP bonus multiplier of 284% (plus all of the hidden XP from the SH buildings). I spent just over $10 million (with the XP collider turned on) on rat trap delivery trucks (I sell them back, of course), and I got 148 doughnuts (3 doughnuts each time I chose a box. Sometimes I have to choose once or twice to get the three). So I got a net of 143 doughnuts. In summary: That’s $10 million spent for 143 (net) doughnuts. You really can’t go wrong. I think I will do the XP collider more often now to keep me rolling in doughnuts. Woo hoo! 🤑😍

🤗 Thanks girlie! You are such a love for taking the time to keep us posted on all the tips and tricks! Off to plant some 🌽

  8. General advice, always grow corn in cases things like this happens. That was one of the earliest advices I got from you 😉

  9. I was literally 22 minutes from storing my farm when I saw this because I have 17 days left on corn. Best. Post. EVER!

  10. I read your post just in the nick of time, and I just planted some corn. I’m looking forward to harvesting tomorrow morning.

On a side note…..I’m at level 939 and I was wondering if the XP collider is still worth the doughnuts. The answer is a big YES! After I planted the corn, I turned on the XP collider and started doing the rat trap delivery truck trick. I spent $5 million and got 55 doughnuts- for a net gain of 50 doughnuts. I still have $50 million left. So I will be spending more in game cash to get some more doughnuts. I don’t really see the point in carrying a large sum of money anymore since there’s no more levels coming. In the old days, we would have to save a couple of million in cash in anticipation of the next level- when we would need a million or so to buy the new levels’ building/character. I have a bonus multiplier of 284%. So getting doughnuts with the collider on is easy.

    What does everyone else think?

    • Go ahead – the cash isn’t really a problem . I ran my B game down to under 20 million on bloodmobiles & rat trap trucks near the end of the wild west event. By sending everyone on 12 hour tasks 2x/day & rushing them through the last hour at a cost of 0 donuts (thank you unemployment office!) I’m already back over 40 million.

      • @Marc. OMG, Marc! I’ve been noticing the ability to rush individuals, and sometimes I do that if I need someone for something else. But through the Unemployment Office? It never occurred to me–but d’oh! Of course that works! I’m totally going to use it, too. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! You gave me a great start to my weekend. 🙂

        • Glad it helped. A lot of good ideas from this site thanks to its hosts & fellow users!

        • Note that you can’t have anyone not on a task to use rush otherwise it shows to assign them to a task. If you then assign them the task you want to rush, it will then cost donuts since they will be part of the time group being rushed. So if you had 100 on 12 hour with free rush, then added someone new, it would no longer be free but the cost to rush that one new character to rush all 101. (I hope that makes sense.) I still flub it occasionally and clear someone on a smaller task before rushing the longer task, then have to assign that free person to a different time task than what I want to rush.

          • I noticed that–careful planning is the key! (Careful planning on a game does seem like an oxymoron, but for an anal retentive gamer, it’s necessary, lol!)

  11. Hey guys, just a quick check in, I’ve only got 3 characters earning chilli peppers (apu, homer and snake I think) and its bit slow but I was wondering if everyone (I’m level 22) has about the same thing?

    I’m a freemium player btw

    • I’m also freemium (mostly), I’m past level 60 (the last task that adds characters), and I’m on part 2 of the quest line, and I have Cletus, Moe, Lenny, Carl, Apu and Homer. (If you’re on part 1, Cletus is not available yet–you can start collecting peppers from him in part 2. Also, Lenny and Carl unlock at level 27, so you won’t have them either.)

BUT DON’T PANIC! You have 12 more days. In addition to getting another character in part 2 (Cletus), in part 3, you can start growing SIX peppers every three hours at Cletus’s farm. It will *seem* like it’s slow going, but just keep tapping. You’ll get there!

  12. Perfect timing as always Alissa, read this just as I sent my characters on their second round collecting chili peppers, which will still only amount to 32 of 40 for me. Just so happens my crop will be finished half hour before the group finishes their tasks.

  13. Woo hoo! I’m 15 days into a crop of corn. Sweet corn. I was going to just let it go since these mini events are usually really easy

  14. thanks alissa, my corn crop took 2 hours! thanks for all the help

  15. Thanks for the tip- you are awesome!

  16. Have I done something wrong? I planted the crop and even with Marge’s help it says it will take 89 days and 23 hours! Or pay over 1000 donuts (which I don’t have)! 🙁

    • You don’t do anything. You just plant it and play as you would. Once you’ve COMPLETED part 2 and earned the ability to plant the pepper crop it’ll auto complete at the farm.

If you’ve already completed Part 2, it will not work.

  17. Thanks for the tip! I’m now growing my first ever crop of corn (I’ve always been too nervous to do it in case I needed to grow something for a challenge or event)

  18. Thank you!

crap again… i canceled my corn after 50 days today .. i stsrted the second part but didn’t finish collecting peppers will it still work ?/

  20. I read this JUST in time to log into my game and have part two be done lol…Whoops. Missed out on this boost AND the level up glitch last week. Ah well!

  21. Woo… That was close. I’m 16 peppers from completing part 2. Thanks! And I am using the collider for the first time today.

    • Me too! I have 16 to go… I read this just in time (usually I just miss these things).

    • Hi Shep482….you’re 1 of my neighbors & I thought it funny that I’m using my xp collider 1st time today & I caught this 20 peppers needed to finish part 2. Wanted donuts cause I want all 3 premium items this time….& then they raised xp needed to 500,000,,, not complaining but I didn’t know it changed. I bought some lotto tickets & all I need now is devil Flanders! Good luck, neighboreeno!

  22. i got 20 days left on a grow if i start the xp thing now would it auto finish when i go to plant peppers ?

    • Yup (but the collider has nothing to do with it auto completing…it’ll just give you 5x more XP. But only use if you’re willing to grind xp for donuts. Otherwise you’ll have wasted 5 donuts)

  23. Done and done! Thanks for the tip!! Btw when you grow the chillis, do you just get chilli pepper currency or do you actually get a pepper deco like the valentine rose bushes?

  24. Great tip! I just harvested my first corn crop just a few hours after planting it. Secondary tip: I now have Marge the Witch speeding up a crop of insanity peppers, to be harvested in 1.5 hours instead of the full 3 hours.

    • lol. Why did I not think of Marge the witch. I’ve used her lots of times to speed up crops. But its been awhile. Time for her to get helping out. Good call.

  25. Thanks for the heads up!

I was wondering if we’d ever get the chance to use this trick again. I was too far in the quest line to do it last time (Valentine’s Day 2014 maybe?), so ever since I’ve been thinking of it.

  26. I’m not a real pro at these things. Could you provide any additional info Alissa? If I spend donuts to activate the collider for 24 hrs, how much will the corn XP get me back to make it worthwhile? How does it work – when you have to do part 2, will the corn just magically ripen or you have to click on the farm or….?

    • Depends on the level and your bonus %. You’d have to be willing to already have it activated for other reasons…

And yes, when you complete part 2 and unlock the crop as a prize it’ll auto complete.

  27. Thanks for the tip Allissa! Corn has been planted.

  28. Good tip! Thanks! I remember something similar on a previous update where you could temporarily grow event currency at Cletus’ farm.

  29. GREAT TIP!!!

So great, I used all caps to emphasize its greatness!

    • Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Super tip. I used lots of ‘a’s to emphasise the ‘yay-ness’😎…..💜X

  30. Thanks for the tip Alissa!
