Let Cooler Heads Prevail…My Thoughts So Far On the Event

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

So normally we just plug away with updates here at Addicts HQ.  Listening to what you guys have to say, but trying not to say too much about our opinions.  (well…before Pat anyway lol) We write our posts, give you guys the details and address issues we feel need to be addressed.  But we try not to say too much about the theme of the events.  Because let’s face it, we’re all Addicts and we’re going to plug away no matter what.  But this 2016 Winter Event has seem to hit a nerve with many of you…

Homer Pronounce Groening

There are A LOT of angry Addicts in the comments.  (although there are still a ton of you who are happy with it, or indifferent)  Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many outraged Addicts in the comments on day 1.  Sure Christmas 2013 brought a lot of ticked off people (Wheel) as did Easter 2014…BUT not usually on day 1.  Or from the second you downloaded the update and saw the splash screen.  (kind of makes sense why there wasn’t a teaser from EA…)

Grumple Fight Homer

I get it.  I really do.  Many of you are upset with the theme because it’s offensive to you, and your beliefs.  Or you’re upset because you feel like it’s Christmas morning and Santa either didn’t show up or left you coal.  Or worse yet, your stocking was full of underwear.  *Shudder*

Tapped_Out_Mystery_Stocking

It’s like you had all of this anticipation build up about what the event could be, maybe a Hanukkah inspired event, maybe Kwanzaa would get some love this year,  perhaps more Festivus, would EA release more lights? And instead of any of that EA just kicked you square in your holiday spirit gut.

I get it. It’s not what I expected either.  It’s different. While the Pagan Festival is the root of our modern day Christmas celebrations (in quick simple terms Christians felt they didn’t want to participate in the Pagan Festival so instead they created their own celebration, and choose the Festival date to be the day they celebrated Christ’s birthday.  Don’t believe me…Google it.), it just seems like a strange event to be celebrating this time of the year to many of us.

As many of you know Christmas is my FAVORITE time of year.  I may not like Halloween or Thanksgiving (or even Easter for that matter), but Christmas, Christmas is special to me.  As I know it is to many of you.  For me it’s way more than the gifts, cookies, decorations and even the religious aspect.

See for me Christmas, and the entire holiday season, is about a special feeling deep inside (almost) all of our hearts this time of the year.  It’s families and friends coming together.  It’s the joy and excitement in children…joy you don’t usually see unless you’re in Disney.  It’s about the wonder and magic of a jolly guy in a red suit and his eight reindeer.  It’s a sense of kindness from strangers.

Christmas is just a magical time.  So to see something different, like a Pagan alter, in an event this time of the year is strange.  And it feels a bit like that gut punch we talked about earlier.  BUT it’s important no matter how you feel about this event to be respectful of each other. Be respectful of other’s ideas and traditions.  Remember the time of the year and the magic of the season that takes place outside of the game, in places you talk about the game.

It’s ok to not like an update.  It’s ok to be upset with the prizes or the lack of holiday inspired decorations.  It’s NOT ok to insult others, or demonize others because of your beliefs over theirs.

So as is the policy of this site, any comments made to provoke others, be malicious, or distract from the purpose of this site will be removed.  Remember, respectful, constructive disagreement is welcome.  But the insulting religious arguments take away from the purpose of this site.  We’re a welcoming community for all, not some.  We’re all from different countries, backgrounds and we all have different beliefs.  It’s important that we respect that.

I’ve let many of you say your peace about the update yesterday and this morning, but from this point on any comments that demonize one belief over another will be deleted.  Politics and Religion are two hot button topics that aren’t meant to be debated here.  There’s no winning for either side, you won’t change anyone’s mind…instead you’ll just alienate people.  That’s not what we’re about here.

That doesn’t say that you can’t disagree with each other, or disagree with the update.  Or have serious issues with the update.  It just means you have to be respectful about it.  It also means that if someone is upset with the update because of it’s lack of holiday feeling don’t jump down their throat. Don’t add the comments like “well we had to deal with a manger previously”.  (and a lot of you complained about that manger)  Respect each other and this site. That’s all we ask.

Now to those of you who refuse to play this update because you feel like it lacks holiday spirit.  Or the prizes suck.  I would encourage you to at least try. Yes, some of the prizes are pretty crappy..I’m not going to lie…but there are some really great prizes.  And the dialogue is HILARIOUS.  (who doesn’t love the idea of a Bacon Fest?  And I don’t know about you, I agree with Homer. You don’t talk about Bacon Fest, because then you have to share the bacon.)

Worried there’s no holiday decor?  It lacks the color of the holidays?  Take a look at the FREE trees in Springfield that now have lights.  The fences with bows.  Benches with ribbons.  The bushes with berries. Take a look at the bushes and trees that have festive ribbon…

holiday-free-tsto-decor-trees-fence-bushes

I dunno about you, but it sure looks a whole heck of a lot like Christmas in my Springfield, whether I want it to or not. There are loads of simple design elements, for FREE, that have been added to the game to make it look more like the festive time of the year.

The Parson, the final Act 1 Character, is a fun addition to Springfield.  He’s got some hilarious tasks and great dialogue to add to the conversation…and cause some trouble for Rev. Lovejoy…

theparson_victory_pose_image_8

And a few (light) SPOILERS for those that want to know if it will get more like the traditional holidays we know and love…I’ll give those of you who don’t want to know what’s coming a chance to scroll away…incoming spoilers in

End of Spoilers

So even if you’re not into the Pagan theme, there are some bright spots to look forward to.

Oh and for those questioning this year’s theme, as I said in the rundown post…the Pagan Theme is DIRECTLY related to the upcoming episode of The Simpsons.  “The Nightmare Before Krust-Mas”, which is an interesting episode where Krusty will explore his own religion.  EA literally just took a page from the show with this one. It’s not out of the blue..

And if you need another bright side….the event is going to end before the New Year…

So let’s all take a deep breath and remember that we’re a community.  Despite our locations and backgrounds, we all share a common love of this game.  We survived the Wheel and Easter Boxes…the Pagans have nothing on us!

  1. :0 Ohhh no! I want to buy the Santa’s Village bundle for 80 donuts with a 40 donut rebate for two reasons: I want to ENCOURAGE EA to include this type of content at this time of year AND it may be the only Christmasy content I get this year 🙁 BUT I signed “I agree” to Patric’s post and in so doing said I would NOT spend donuts during this event. I want to keep my pledge. What to do? Sneaky EA!

    • Patric purchased that one I think you’ll be ok 😉

      • Wait. What??

        • Wait what to what?

          • Patric spent donuts? After he is heading a petition in which he said, “I for one, will be sitting this one out in regards to purchasing anything with donuts or bonuts”.

            • LOL…the true answer you seek is coming in a few minutes, Brad. Yes. I did…except if you read the post, I gave everyone wiggle room. I said I will not SPEND MONEY on donuts. I didn’t. These were BONUTS! LOL. You’ll see the method to my madness in a bit. Hang in there.

          • Yes, you did say you wouldn’t spend any money on donuts. But then you went on to say at the end that you wouldn’t spend any donuts or bonuts at all. I lifted the quote verbatim from your petition.
I’m not trying argue, I’m really not. As I’ve said before, I love this site and you and Alissa both. I think you’re funny and make my game better. But it’s not right for people to start and/or sign a petition against the things they don’t like then drop donuts on the things they do. It sends a highly mixed message.

          • I really don’t think Alissa, Patrik, or anyone should have to justify donut/bonus purchases.

Thank you TSTO crew for everything!

        • Brad…seriously? LOL! I had the plan of the two posts hatched…but not executed. I bought Santa the second it became available…the post didn’t go live until well after that. So…yes…I was skirting the laws of credibility an full commitment…but, I ALSO knew I was planning on posting the second “letter to EA” which pretty much flips to the OTHER side of the argument.

This debate makes my point…it is a convoluted issue…and compromise and tolerance is required for real solutions. Otherwise, you end up doing the bit in “The Princess Bride” where they are trying to do a “battle of wits” with poison…and one side has to die. But, like that great scene (one of my favorites of all time), I have the ultimate control over the outcome, because I am “immune” to the poison…by nature of my ambivalence.

          • I don’t believe you. If that was the case then both posts would have been put up simultaneously to let the people speak for themselves. Seems to me the 2nd post was hastily put together to squash the backlash the site was receiving both here and on the EA forum saying Addicts was only supporting one side.

            • Well…let’s go ahead and clear the air here, Brad. You can choose to believe Alissa and me or not. Your prerogative. However, as I stated in post #2…the first was very clearly biased in its makeup. That was, as I said, intentional. I have been in marketing for more almost 40 years, and had the plan for both, after seeing the ridiculous backlash on this very post. I wanted/needed to deflect the vitriolic and nonsensical backlash that was being leveled at Alissa, and other posters.

Second…and those that know me well from the old blog, or other posts on my personal blog site or FB…when it comes to reacting to “backlash” from trolls, I am completely apathetic. If you knew me at all (which you don’t) you would know that my leanings toward organized religions of any flavor are decidedly toward “leaning away.” However…I DO understand why people get offended by others who belittle them.

Finally…….. I do NOT take this game remotely as seriously as you appear to (or the trolls on forum), as I have a rich, full, and very content life outside of tapping. Anyone who takes any of this as seriously as parsing every blog post, and trying to play “GOTCHA!!” needs to take a closer look at their own life and priorities.

But as far as giving any merit to “squashing backlash”…Pfffffffffttttttttttt! Hilarious! Apathy. It’s a wonderful cloak from trolls.

          • The personal attack directed toward me at the end of your last reply was unnecessary and uncalled for. Alissa has said many many times that personal attacks are not welcome. And to receive one from one of the mods…

            • The “personal attack” was not personal, but directed at the plethora of folks on this thread/post who have decided to hold the mods in some sort of “limbo” where we are not allowed to offer opinion, or actually slap down a rude or redundant comment. This kind of ambiguity makes me nuts. We ALLOWED you to start your whole line, when the instinct was to just delete it. Again…if you had any idea what we see/deal with on a daily basis…you may be less inclined to keep volleying back and forth over a matter that has little or no merit in the bigger picture.

      • I just have the THANK YOU again, Alissa, for showing me such GRACE in this issue.

    • Well seeing as it’s a traditional Christmas thing, if that’s the only thing you’re spending donuts on, I would say that’s completely fine.

    • I did the same thing, then I read Patric’s article and agreed. But I console myself with A) it is something that was offered before and B) it is the only thing I will be purchasing. As well, I will use my crafting currency and all that to purchase items that are more general (chicken coop and wagon, even the banners) opposed to the statues.

  2. At the end of the day it’s a game and anyone attacking anyone else over it should be ashamed. Especially those that work hard on this site to help the rest of us.

  3. Alissa, I just read Patrick’s post and I’m sorry that you got trolled 🙁

Unfortunately, we live in uncivilised times and people tend to forget that humans beings are on the other side.

It’s easy to say this, but you need to ignore these small minded people.

This is a game. Not the elections. If you don’t want any paganism in your life, then just ignore the game until the next update and move along with your life. You’ll probably be saving some dough to go nuts on gifts for your loved ones.

Alissa and team, most of us DO love you and thank you for the tremendous efforts in running this TSTO Addicts community. So talks about closing it is only feeding trolls with more intolerant behaviour.

    Live long and prosper!

    • Oh it was a handful of those who I just let get under my skin. And for the record I wasn’t crying lol. I’ve been doing this long enough to have a thicker skin. Just made me question if we should just shut the site down for December. All good now. You guys are awesome 😁

  4. Two things: 1. If you buy the bells and cant figure it out, its 1-4-4-5-4-3-2-2. They are really cool
    The whole song is: 1-4-4-5-4-3-2-2
    2-5-5-6-5-4-3-1
    1-6-6-7-6-5-4-2
    1-1-2-5-3-4
(We wish you a merry christmas)

    2. Whacking Day and Electricuting bunny rabbits on Easter???Everyone loved those updates. Only true complaint should be that they had a Futurama update and we couldn’t get Bender or Fry

    Happy Holidays Tapparinos!

    • But how do we know which one is 1,2,..? Confused by this phenomenon 🙁

      >

      • Store the items again and place in sequential order. The description tells you what number they are in storage.

      • The lowest note is 1 and highest note is 7

      • Put them in order from lowest to highest note.

        • Doesn’t help if one doesn’t pay attention to “stone number” when placing them…LOL But I had figured out, if I “try” to store them…then their number is “announced”

This saved me the trouble of having to re-place them!

          >

          • No,iI meant by listening to them. I didn’t notice the inventory numbers…I just pout them in order by listening to the tone each made and arranging them in order from the lowesr tone to the highest one. Using the inventory numbers probably would have been much faster/easier, but my way was kind of fun…like a game, almost! 🙂

          • Oh. Didn’t know that. Oo.

I emailed TSTOaddicts saying that I couldn’t complete the task or quest or whatever you wanna call it. Alissa sent me the correct sequence. ^^

Alissa also said she was working on a Singing Stone post but I’ve yet to see it and or get an email notification about it ???????????? Oo.

    • Thank you! I’ve been playing around with the stones and put them in order, but I couldn’t figure out what weird key that was supposed to be…seemed to go “off” when you hit the third to last one.

I’m gonna go play that tune…do you think those same notes can be used to play any other well-known tunes (Christmassy or not Christmassy)?

  5. Having just read Patric’s post in full, I’m so sorry Alissa. I’ve had the same thing happen to me as a union representative and I did quit. When asked by the culprit why I’d quit and I explained why, he said awww that’s awful… he didn’t even realise I was talking about his behaviour!

You are all very much appreciated.

Thank you so much for all your help. Having read Patric’s post, I can’t believe just how many years I’ve been playing the game, how time flies… I must say that my enjoyment of the game and progression thru’ it have been very much enhanced and aided by this site. So thank you again.

    Merry Christmas 😊🎄☃️

  6. There is quite a simple solution to all of this:

Don’t like the event: don’t play the game.

Furthermore, REALLY don’t like the event and feel outraged, DELETE the game.

It is a game, it is supposed to be fun; if it ceases to be so, the solution is simple, stop playing. Do you also require someone to be with you at all times to tell you not to put your hand into the fireplace, not to run out into traffic and to stop climbing the lion fence at a zoo?

As for personal attacks, including narrow minded views and ethnocentrism, they always say a lot more about the individual saying them, than they do about the intended target. Giving them any weight and credence is a mistake and empowers the ignorant.

  7. Sending Alissa a big hug. I’ve read yours and Patric’s posts and I am completely ashamed to hear there are people attacking others over this event. I have not been apart of the melee but I still feel that I should apologize personally to Alissa and the rest of the Addicts for the hate and disrespect that has occurred. I am sorry.
It is Christmas time, the air should be filled with respect, camaraderie, joy, and love!

  8. I like the stone henge and the lumber mill and some of the other decorations – like the mushrooms. But, I do think it’s a little weird for a “Christmas” update. I’m going to enjoy the new things I get and not worry about what I don’t like. I have plenty of Christmas stuff from previous years to put around town and a few places I’ll work in new items.

Thanks for encouraging everyone to keep clam and tap on or keep calm and take a break.

Are we ever going to get more land in SH? I need room for my North Pole/Christmas area!

  9. Thank you Alissa for being level-headed. Please don’t let people get you down. Being mean on the Internet is easy. Being discontent is easy. Peopel who are being inconsiderate and fire away in the wrong direction (this site) are in the minority by faaaaar I’m sure. We appreciate your great work very much. <3
    Love and hugs from Germany!

  10. I wanted to thank you Alicia for this post, I love your approach and your intentions I know that this is a difficult time for your blog and that you need to find a way to preserve the peace, just wanted to send you a virtual hug and a little love, I hope that you, your family and friends have a wonderful holidays

  11. Ahh it’s interesting and we are all allowed to have our own religions 🙂 happy days

  12. Add my name to the list of people who feel that this event is ill-conceived. Some things are just “sacred.” I totally understand some of the pagan origins that were incorporated into the holiday, but the holiday is sacred nonetheless. I feel awkward pushing on a pagan encircled pentagram for the event.

That said: I wouldn’t have a problem with a pagan festival event that was separate from the Christmas holiday event.

  13. Long time reader!Never posted before but NOW is the time!Everyone upset with EA has to go and be upset with EA not this website.Leave everyone who works so hard on this site ALONE,they have nothing to do with the events, they only are trying to help us have a more enjoyable experience playing.I ,for one, look for information about playing not your bitching and moaning about how horrible this event is! Go to a more opinion appropriate site for your venting like,I don’t know,EA!Thank you so very much to everyone working here to make my game so much more enjoyable

  14. There’s a lot I could say about what’s been going on here the past couple days, but I’m going to pass. I just want to say thank you for the job you do. I’ve always thought it was extremely rude how much grief you take from people complaining about the game or the site, and I’m very sorry that you’ve had to deal with all this negativity, and especially sorry that some of it has been directed at you.

I’ve mostly avoided reading the comments because I didn’t want that stress. You’ve been a lot more responsive to the community than I would have. After reading about 10 comments, I probably would have just said comments will be closed for this event, and we’ll just do the normal posts for those who choose to play and wish those who choose not to play a Merry Christmas. The fact that you’ve tried to address people’s concerns and bring the community back together just underscores how invested you are in not just the game or the site, but all of us addicts.

  15. One way that might be appease people (I’m not a programmer) is for EA to make everything we craft, earn, etc. have a minimum of a 2% bonus. Then people might forgive them???

  16. Alissa,
I look forward to the Christmas event all year and like other Addicts, I was extremely disappointed when this event began and I saw the theme and prizes. I enjoy playing Tapped Out because it is a pleasant diversion from the sad events going on in the world, and it usually makes me smile. Unfortunately this event is not in the holiday spirit for the majority of people, and it just doesn’t seem appropriate. Although I am a Christian, I would have been just fine with a Hanukkah theme or a Kwanzaa theme, but the Pagan them feels disrespectful to what the majority of people are celebrating at this time of year. In any event, I am very sorry that other Addicts are taking out their disappointment and frustration on you. Most addicts really appreciate all of the time you spend keeping us updated and informed. Please don’t let the thoughtless posts of angry Addicts stop you from all of the great work you. Wishing you a very happy holiday season!

    • Thank you 🙂

Our fear is in Act 2 things are only going to get worse based on the dialogue…but we’ll see how things go. Really just trying to keep the peace around here lol

      • Well, one thing IS for sure…

If things are gonna get as grim as what you/Patrick are alluding to (from the files), its highly doubtful that EA would have another “holiday event” in the background…kick this one out and do a mulligan with a new holiday event. Can’t ever ever see this happening.

But what I could see, if they’re truly listening is they might keep the event but MAYBE change some of the upcoming dialogue…to make it less offensive to all parties? I hope they do something, cuz the 💩 you all have had to endure is just too much.

        >

  17. Hi Alissa,
I’m a long time lurker, and always turn to this site for guidance. I’ve never actually watched an episode of the Simpsons but I’ve been tapping since January 2013. While it’s nice that I’m too ignorant to stress over who or what character or building goes with what, I do sometimes get strangely curious about certain items and I come here first for help.

I have always found the site to be informative, well-run, and very interesting. The admins have seemed hard-working, polite, and helpful. I know you sacrifice a lot of your time, and you are always on top of things.

All that being said, I want you to know you have a supporter in me. Don’t let anyone dull your shine with their misplaced intolerance, pearl-clutching or hatred. Good Luck!

    • Thank you 🙂 I’m good now. Just goes to show eventually my patience runs out lol

Just so you know both this post, and Patric’s post are more about getting people under control. Giving those who are upset a respectful place to say so and those who are happy can read the comments on post threads without having to read through the comments of those who are upset. Keeps the peace.
Hopefully everyone’s got themselves checked and we can move on. Although I (and Patric) fear that Act 2 may send everyone over the edge.

  18. danielrsgirl4eva

    Alissa,

I loved this post, and I agree: the dialogue with this update is hilarious! I did have my fingers crossed for a Rabbi Krustofski though.

I’ve been reading the blog for awhile but this is my first time posting, just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear that you have been personally attacked by commenters regarding this event! Wanted to pass along a Merry Christmas to you and your fellow Addicts (and a Happy Pagan Winter Carnival 😉 ).

    -Vicki

    • Hi Vicki…thanks for the kind words 🙂 This post, and Patric’s post are more about getting people under control.
Just ready for this one to end lol

  19. I think it’s scewed up that we have items to craft that should have bonus % and dont. chicken coup, two story outhouse and windmill no bonus %😭

  20. To put things into perspective a bit, I’ve never seen anyone complain about how offensive Christmas is to those of us who don’t share those beliefs. And as a tradition, it’s WAY more hegemonic and tyranic than any other – we’re brainwashed with it every single year, no matter where we go or which way we look. You have a problem with someone trying to do something different for once? Well, tough deal. I have a HUGE problem with how Christmas is imposed on/marketed to/demanded from all of us, year after year, and you don’t see me complaining about it.
(Not directed to you, Alissa! I mostly agree with everything you wrote)

  21. I really like the update, it’s refreshing cause it’s different.
And it won’t get boring cause it’s only two acts 🙂

  22. I just got through reading Patric’s latest post and all I can say is, Alissa, I am so sorry that people on this site actually insulted you and made you cry and made you consider to shutting down the site until this Winter Event is over. Shame, shame, triple shame on them. You put so much time and effort into this site and helping all of us, I often wonder how you do it. That makes me so angry. All you have tried to do is to keep the peace regarding all of this and you get attacked for it. I am so sorry you were subjected to that. I hope you know how highly you are thought of by so many of us here.

    • Thanks Cathy 🙂
There are highs and lows with every event, but i’ve never seen the response quite like this. Honestly, I’m indifferent about the event. But I can say Act 2 has some strange twists…i’m actually preparing for it to get worse before it gets better. Thankfully this will be over in 3 weeks lol

      • Just keep in mind Christmas with the lil’ tapper 🙃

        >

      • Hang in there Alissa. Trolls will be trolls. And some people out there just don’t know how to act with any kind of personal decorum or common decency. You’ve done an amazing job with this site, but I can definitely understand if you need a break from it. We all do from time to time 🙂

Thank you for this site though. It has definitely helped me with my game, and I know it has helped countless others!

      • Alissa – I like to think most of us really appreciate everything that you do for us! I wonder how many people realize that besides doing this site you have a full time job and a family? Anyhow, thank you for all you do!!!

      • 🤗🎄❤️️

    • Ditto.

      >

      • Ditto, ditto! If people are actually, blatently *mean* to you, Alissa, I think you should just ban them from the site! Being a member is a privilege, not a right, and you work way too hard, and spend way too much money, to put up with that kind of disrespect!

  23. I’m super disappointed in this update. I’m not religious but I do celebrate secular christmas. It’s my fav time of the year and I look forward to christmas lights and other festive things & quests in TSTO. I was so impatient for the update to be released but after it was I felt like I could have waited longer lol.

I turned the lights on in my town but it’s a total after thought this year.

I’m sorry that people have been attacking each other. I don’t spend time in the comments unless I’m looking for an answer to a question I have so I haven’t been exposed to this other than what I’ve read about in the posts that have been made. I will say, anyone doing any attacking, that’s about as festive as this update and you should give your head a shake.

  24. Ok. Not crazy about the theme. Not because it’s offensive, I just find the theme a bit boring. Imho the last few events haven’t piqued my interest. I am a Christian. But I also respect that my views aren’t mirrored by every individual in the world. That’s ok. As long as we respect each other, differences make like interesting. So in the spirit of the holidays, especially for us Christians, be kind. If you don’t like the event, don’t play it. Take your extra hours gained by not playing, and spread some cheer! I promise you’ll recover when the next event begins.

That being said…am I old or can anyone else not see those dang pagans??? I spend more time searching for them than it’s worth. Please bring back a tool we can use to find them. Why so many events without them? A vacuum would be nice!!

    Merry christmas!

    • Hi Regina,

You need a bigger phone with a bigger screen 😛 Just kidding. But on a serious note, one thing I’ve found that is working for me is that there’s usually an icon for the antlers on the left where the tasks are. Tap on it and it brings up how many you have out of how many you need to acquire the next item in the act’s prize line. Then tap on “do it” and it automatically or randomly brings you to a pagan on the screen. Keep doing that until you get the message that says there are no more pagans. 🙂 I’m almost at the God Burns 🙂 Hope that helps.

      • small note about the antler icon on the side: that only shows up when you’re closer to getting the current amount of antlers for the next unlock. as soon as you unlock that prize the antlers icon is gone until the next time you get closer. i would suggest hiding everything except the characters and then searching out a pagan. yes it will take a bit more time but you’ll be sure to tap them all. also they do congregate to the henge after a while.

        • True they do all had towards the henge. But I’ve actually had that icon appear before I was close to getting the prize. For example, the Burns God one, I was more than 7-8000 antlers away and it was there. Unless the game considers that close? I do agree it disappears once you get the prize, but I’ve found that when you start going after the next one it reappears. I just haven’t paid enough attention to see what actually kicks it back on because I know I wasn’t anywhere near getting the prize when it appeared.

    • For those times when the antler icon isn’t there: go to the crafting menu. As long as you have LESS rune stones than is needed for the next level up, hit the button that tells you how many runes you need until the next level. It will tell you that you don’t have enough and give you the option to spend donuts or “do it.” Click the do it button and it brings you straight to a pagan. Then click the trophy button on the bottom of the screen again and it brings you straight back to the crafting menu. Rinse and really repeat. It sounds impractical but it’s easier to do than explain and it’s way better than hunting out the pagans.

I had one of the child ones stuck IN my mountain range – not in the tunnel, not hidden behind it, literally IN it. I discovered this as a matter of necessity as I was losing my mind trying to find the “missing” pagan(s).

  25. I too am a little disappointed in this event but am dismayed at some of the comments. I do think EA could have thought it through a little better. I’m not sure why they offered traditional Christmas items early if they weren’t having a traditional Christmas. Yes, I spent donuts on all the additional buildings that could be decorated and was trying to figure out how they were going to tie those new decorations in. I think they should have offered decorations tied to the theme they were using. It would have leveled expectations and maybe sparked some interest on what was coming. Saying this doesn’t mean that I don’t respect diversity, it just means that I think EA set themselves up for this type of fall by offering traditional Christmas items before the event started. My buildings still look pretty but the tie in I was looking for didn’t happen. Yes, I will survive. 🙂 Anyhow, be kind to each other. Please?? I’m not sure if it is everyone with depression or just me, but when I see unkind comments it makes me feel sadder than I already do.

    • Hi Kathy 🙂

I want to think that EA has positive intent and offers past old items so as to give newer players a chance to get everything us tenured players already have acquired or may have not gotten enough of. For example, I bought a whole bunch more of those ice blocks that I needed for my city’s design 😀 And as of the past year or two, I’ve kinda noticed that trend in them doing this. Giving access to old items that were no longer available. As for the theme? Eh….it makes sense to me how they’re exploring other aspects of this cultural holiday or time of the year. It’s not exactly educational, but it can sort of prompt people to maybe look it up? Kinda like how tstoaddicts tend to have articles of where everything came from and all (which I find very informative). Maybe next Christmas they’ll have something even better in store for us donut addicts 🙂

      • Yeah I can see that. 🙂 I’m just a Christmas fanatic. I love decorating for Christmas. The joke in my household is that on trick treat night, I turn off the porch light at 8 and begin decorating for Christmas.

  26. This is my first Christmas playing Tapped Out. As much as I love Christmas time I really didn’t want a permanent Santa and elves themed Christmas corner in my town. (yeah I know I can store things but that seems to defeat the whole point of getting the things in the first place.) So the early preview with marshmallow trees and lollipop flowers gave me hope we might be seeing a Candyland style update.

I love this update. It fits very well thematically with the previous Halloween (my first) and Hunting updates. I realize that is a good reason many don’t like the update. I think the giant woodland renaissance fair theme side area to my Springfield is awesome.

(Edited by Patric…we have covered this info in many forms…sorry. But thanks for the input).

  27. Act 2 will save the day… Santa Claus, Kwanzaa Bot, and Hanukkah Harry (accompanied by several ICBMs) are gonna swoop down upon Springfield henge and blast it back to the stone age, restoring order and bringing peace to the masses.

  28. Laaaaaaaaannnd!!! 😁

  29. It would have been nice to see a few “normal” Christmas tasks run parallel to the main event. Right now I wish for Rabbi Krustofski and the decor for Frink but both aren’t happening.

  30. I think the event is great! I grew up Catholic and still enjoy the holiday season, but I’ve been an atheist for almost a decade and it’s refreshing to see someone acknowledge a religious tradition other than Christianity. I was really hoping for a Hanukkah theme to show Krusty some love, but this works for me too!
