Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
As I mentioned earlier this evening the Winter Removal Update is live in your App Store. This update will not only remove the snow from Springfield…but it also adds a new Gil deal with items from The Great Phatsby episode AND some changes/additions to Springfield Heights (including new land!).
Thanks so much for your patience…as I had to get home and get the Tiny Addict settled and in bed…so now let’s get to the new additions…
First up, let’s talk about the Winter removal…
Unfortunately, it looks like this update has NOT fixed the Princess Martin/Ice Castle issue. I’m very much hoping EA continues to try and correct this task issue. As it is super annoying to have a task in your task list that you cannot complete.
Another change that was made with this update…the Gnome Box. Tap on the box the Gnome disappears…
Find the Gnome and tap on him and he’ll go back in the box.
Now onto the new stuff. Starting with the Springfield Heights additions/changes..
When you first first sign into TSTO you’ll start up some dialogue from Homer, of course:
Homer: *groan* It’s taking forever to save up my Lattes. I’d prefer to receive things the same way I collect my paycheck; asleep in my chair.
Lisa: Maybe if we could work longer for larger rewards it might be better?
Homer: Pfft, which idiots are you going to convince to work longer?
So a few changes have taken place in Springfield Heights.
New Land in Springfield Heights! 2 Strips added to the far side of SH.
More tasks at SH buildings….and a highly requested change. Several characters per building now have 8hr tasks there that earn even more SH currency. Should be a lot easier to max out your buildings now…
Furniture Shop:
Manjula-8hr task, earns 120

As usual, after seeing the initial dialogue from Homer about Springfield Heights, you’ll see Gil roaming around Springfield…throwing his arms up like he’s a Ref at the Superbowl…
Gil: Hey there, pal, isn’t it time you stopped living like a pathetic nobody? Isn’t it time you showed everyone who’s the real playa in this game? Isn’t it time for old Gil to stop living on a park bench? This mansion was custom built for legendary hip-hop producer Jay G. He’s selling it due to a divorce caused by the events described in his wife’s hit single, “Y’all Done Had a Sleazy Sex Party While I Was in the Hospital Having Your Baby.” Whaddaya, say, Sport? Are you ready to step up to the bigs? Are you ready to step up to the bigs? Are you ready to take it to the hoop? Are you ready to pay Gil a 1% commission? I’m ready to take a whole lot less, if that’ll seal the deal!

Jay G: I’m afraid you’ve got to keep living, you said old white man. I brought the real estate company and voided the sale — that means you’re behind your monthly sales quota!
Gil: That’s okay. I’ll just start working the phones — the first step is finding a payhone that takes I.O.U.’s.
This bundle runs 225 donuts and comes with the following:
Jay G’s Mansion- 12×18 in size. Earns $300, 30xp
Jay G’s Pool- 12×18 in size. Earns a 2.25% bonus on all cash and XP.
Jay G- Full character with tasks. Not voiced. Comes with a questline
Goosius- NPC, no tasks. Has sound when tapped.
225 Donuts, but it comes with a load of stuff! And yes, I’ll have a should I buy post on this combo up…

You can do that already. That was actually how I finished SH. I’d work on leveling one building at a time until it was completed and then toss it into storage. I have at least 20 different level 5 buildings in storage. The best thing is that you don’t lose the SH currency once they go into storage.
But you will forfeit the XP bonus percent for placement…search: “SH Hidden XP ” or look at comments below…Alissa has posted a link to the page…
I think he means storing the stores… Furniture Shop, Institute of Technology, etc.

Hey so is anyone else having the problem with the new 8hr heights tasks consuming currencies without starting the job? I clicked Moleman to do the 8hr tech job, it told me something to the effect of “not meeting requirements,” and then just backed out. I did it again and the same thing happened. I reloaded the game and now two tasks’ worth of chairs and coffee are gone! 😳
Well…yes…as per usual…no update from EA is bugless. There are loads of reports of the same issue.
You just paid the “unlock” fee…
I hope that EA will periodically add land on the SH side because I need a lot of land on the SH. I also hope that they add 2 stripes of land opposite to the sea on the north area near the mountain that border the Springfield to SH because I choose that area to place the Wild West/ rural buildings decorations so I hope that they will unlock the land soon. By the way it’s a nice add the new two stripes of land on SH because I waited a lot for that land😁😁😁😁😁😁
I notice that Duffman has an 8h task at the gym, but when I select him, it says requirements not met?
Pay the “unlock” fee first, then you can assign him the task.
Is anybody else not seeing the option to update when you bring up the game in the App Store?
Should show the “Green” standard version of Homer and sky finger. If not…completely cycle down your device…and then try again. Just the “updates” section sometimes doesn’t work.
I have that problem. iPhone SE, iOS 10. Powering down didn’t help. The version shown is the right one for the update but I only see open and of course when I hit open- I get the must update message…. Sigh. So I’m stuck not able to harvest my KEMs for donuts and reset recyclers before my ISP decides to make the internet disappear again for who knows how long. I should bill Frontier for my downtime in donuts.
That happened to me. I ultimately had to just manually uninstall it and then reinstall it.
I have never liked the SH addition. I found it boring and and the tasks greedy and annoying. The unnecessary “currency” is just a pain in the bottom. I have yet to purchase a single doughnut, but the game has progressed enough that I can usually stock pile enough to bring in some of the most interesting deals. This is not one of them. I just didn’t find the whole JG thing appealing. Well more doughnuts for the next one. 😀
The colors are back! Now I can back to decorating. 😃 It’s just too hard when everything is all white. Thinking about the Gil Deal…I’ll go check out the proportions in another town, buy some NEW land and hit up QT!

Why are so many things they release these days so freaking huge? It’s not like the land in this game is infinite… I’m gonna wait until I see this Gil’s Deal in one of my friendvilles before I decide for sure, but leaning towards passing on it at this point, just because it’s such a land hog.
On a different note… What are the chances that the next event will hold off until after the Gil’s Deal expires? I was hoping for the next event to start yesterday, but, now that it didn’t, I’d love it to hold off until next Tuesday, since I’ll be traveling down to NYC this weekend for my mom’s birthday. It would be nice not to have to be game obsessed during that time (and I’m not driving back until Monday). What is that you’re saying? This game doesn’t revolve around me and my needs? Well, it should! 😉 😛
It I agree it’s massive. But with 2 more strips in SH…plus everything else they’ve been releasing, I have so much land available I don’t mind the large McMansions…
I think the next event will be back to a pure Valentine’s day event (unlike the Mini Event they did last year, I think they’ll go back to Valentine’s Day format) and I think we’ll likely see it next Wednesday.
Of course I could be WAY off…wouldn’t be the first time I was right or wrong with this game…
Well, I hope you’re right about the start of the next event! I wish I knew for sure…if I knew I had that much time, I think I’d break down and buy one or two of the non-limited-time character combos to stay entertained until then. This is another example of what it would actually be to EA’s benefit if they would just let us know when new events are scheduled to hit!
As for the land… I’ve been needing that land in Springfield Heights forever just to accommodate the Springfield Heights buildings I have. Unlike you, I didn’t want to store any of the core buildings and lose the hidden XP multiplier on them and I also didn’t want to just crunch all the buildings together (I really like my Springfield Promenade condos area near the waterfront and my classic mansions area). So I’ve been left having to crunch some of the big office buildings and parking garages together in unnatural-looking ways (and not properly design even one resort… I’ll be happy with just one), so I’m just hoping that this new land will allow me to finally rectify those things. Basically, I see this new land as just playing catchup, rather than an opportunity to place new stuff.
You can always put the Business Centers etc in regular Springfield. 🙂

Sandra, unlike the rest of the SH buildings the pink resort doesn’t have a hidden bonus. You can store it without losing anything if you want.
Oh, I know……. That’s why I only want to build up one nice one. I’m not going to bother building multiples, but I don’t don’t want to store it, because I like the idea of having one, all built up, in my Springfield Heights.

I actually was glad it was so large. If I’m paying Gil Deal money, I want my worth – and there was so much great detail to his mansion, that it would be a shame not to highlight it all. The animations are great too.

I normally grab unique houses/mansions but this Gil Deal just isn’t worth it for me. The building character combo I would normally purchase for 100-150 donuts (especially when it comes to iconic, or at least rememberable, charchters), a % booster item about 50 donuts (max), and, well, I stay clear of purchasing any NPCs. So I’ll pass. As for Springfield Heights, I welcome the land expansion and the new tasks but I’d rather concentrate on increasing my donuts for Valentines and Easter.
Is it just me or…. are all the other tappers thinking the recent changes/job lengths for SH currency really makes the Googolplex seem outdated? Over priced tasks and under-rewarded?
I’ve always thought that about the Googleplex, even before this update. I could never understand using that, unless one was truly desperate for just a tiny bit more Springfield Heights currency.
I have my Googolplex running almost constantly. It just churns out Hollywood Awards and those Ad things. I think it’s well worth the money.
On occasion I’ve even paid donuts to rush it, it’s the best way to get SH stuff quickly. Of course, you need cash and donuts to burn to do that and I probably won’t do it ever again but it served a purpose at the time.
SWISS W- I did the same (tho didn’t rush). It enabled me to get all my currency to 350/400 & hence I could buy all the land and open up all the 8 hour tasks immediately. Restocking has been a breeze. It helps that I love SH anyway…..💜X
The Googleplex always was over priced and under-rewarding! This just totally magnify’s it! They may as well get ride of the heights relation or have it max out for what you pay.

TIP… If you’ve got stockpile of SH items (yoga mats, etc.) at start of this event, I’d use it to unlock the new character jobs\expand your storage at each store FIRST. Some of the new jobs, although being 8 hr jobs, allow you to get big bunches of SH items. Easier to accrue more items in the future. (Easier than cashing out the jobs every 2-12 minutes continuously).
I made mistake of spending my SH item stockpile to buy the land. Now I am at zero for most of the SH items and will take me longer to build my stockpile back up.

That’s the strategy I used last night. My resources went to unlocking most of the 8-hour jobs. I had to grind a bit to unlock the last three, then set all those 8-hour tasks overnight when I went to bed. By morning I had most of the land unlocked; I should have the rest by the end of the next 8-hour cycle.
I’m so glad I read this advice before diving in. Thank you so much. I know for sure I’d have snaffled up the land without thinking and then have been kicking myself for days. You are a star!
Loving the lull finished the railyard bonuts in 14 hours and restocked full currencies 24 hours later!
Just a suggestion…if you wait till Monday each week to finish the rail yard’s tasks, you will accrue almost half the needed blueprints from the Little Lisa’s Recycling Plant…it generates 450 every 4 hrs…all week long…over 10,000 by Monday…
I am able to finish up on Mondays in one afternoon…around 5 hrs…
Good suggestion but no Little Lisa in my town – now I may need to pick it up someday!
Hard to find a good place to put it, but well worth the investment…maybe EA will drop it back in the store soon…hint, hint…

Like many, I dislike SH. So I stowed all the buildings I could and turned it into a swamp. All the Halloween tchachkes are there; forests of haunted trees, dilapidated and scary buildings, etc. etc. It looks like Hell and I’m proud of it.

So I worked my ass off to get SH over the billion only to have them release jobs that make it much easier for the “log in twice a day” player to get there? VERY close to deleting at this stage….
I do expect an expansion of SH – I presume now the buildings will be damn easy to get, tehy’ll start to throw more in there.

this does not look to be limitted, jsut a change to how you collect meaning all the hard work done could have been saved by just waiting!
True, but think of all of the extra XP (and, by extension, free donuts) you’ve gotten by not waiting.
I honestly don’t see the problem…this game has always been built on the tradition that, as time goes on, many earlier things become cheaper or easier. When they were still releasing levels, the cost of buildings from earlier levels would go down. Premium items that came out a while ago will sometimes come back a year or two later at a discount. It used to take 750,000 blueprints to finish the weekly rail yard task, and now it’s only 25,000.
Real life works the same way, only we call it “progress.” When I was in my freshman year of college I had to type my papers on a typewriter with no fancy features do that, if I made a mistake, I had to manually spin up the roller on the carriage, erase it (if I had Corrasable paper), spin the roller back down, and resume typing. College freshmen today have laptop computers and full-featured word processing software that even automatically corrects their spelling mistakes! So, does that mean I would have been better off waiting 20 or 30 years to go to college? Is it “unfair” that college students today have it easier (in terms of writing papers) than college students in my day?
I just don’t understand this point of view. You obviously play often enough that SH happened relatively easily for you. Or maybe quickly would be a better word? But the 8-hour tasks don’t affect your game progress so why begrudge someone else the opportunity to get to where you’re at with the heights? And the new tasks will help you as more heights stuff gets released, even if it’s just land from here on out.
If you ever picked up a “donut rebate” item or a discounted deal, then it’s hard to justify being upset here…someone has always paid more, saved longer or spent more time “grinding” (it’s just playing the game).
The longer you play, the more things will change…just like life….
PS….I also spent waaayyyy too much time tapping to finally be worth a billion💰…c’est la vie…🌻
Doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I also toiled to get to a billion but I hated it. Anything they can do to take that pain away from other players should be welcomed. There’ll be more SH stuff coming that will let me benefit from the new changes.

With our schedules it likely won’t happen until February 4th and then we’ll start 2x a month. We just did one last weekend, so this weekend is a little too soon to try and put one together.

Hoping this is just a pause that refreshes, but otherwise a massive disappointment. The only fix to SH is to make it go away in my view. Sorry, EA but this is a miss.

Tried, no dice. TSTO Reddit community reports same issue, may be a more wide spread bug or there is some hidden requirement that wasn’t turned all the way off during implementation.
You will need to pay the “unlock” fees for each character before they can earn anything….the cost is listed with each new character. This is the same deal as when SH started, it’s just been so long that we’ve all forgotten….
No thanks on the Gil deal. There are still many classic characters or buildings they could bring back but they come out with a one off character that just aired. Meh…

This is useless. The 8 hour tasks are behind a paywall, premium characters only. And even then you only get one. After reading the website I thought I could send a bunch of people on 8 hour tasks. Now it is still an annoying grind with way too short tasks too collect enough for the new land.
Not premium characters only…2 of the 3 with 8hr tasks are freemium.
Man my town really needs this Gil Deal but im short on donuts so ill play waiting game for it to return
