Secret Agent Act 1 Mishaps…

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

So Act 1 is now over and Act 2 is underway in Springfield.  For those looking for information about Act 2 you can check out this post from earlier this morning.  Right now, even though we’re in the midst of Act 2  I want to take a minute to talk about Act 1.

I’m seeing a lot of reports from players (regular players here, who never have trouble) saying they missed out on getting the last prize (or even the second to last prize) or it was really tight for them.  It’s more than we usually see after an event.  In fact I don’t know that I’ve see this many complaints since 2014.

Sure, we always have a few complaints here and there, but usually they’re from players who didn’t log in frequently (and we all know events take multiple log ins every 4hrs to complete). This time I’m seeing complaints from players who logged in every 4hrs, 4-5 times/day, did as they were supposed to and still fell short, or nearly fell short.  Complaints from players who never have issues during events, yet with this particular event…they struggled.

Personally, Act 1 was like any other event for me.  I didn’t even log in regularly some times and still managed to finish before the weekend.  So I’m a little perplexed that so many of you struggled.  Sure, I have a bunch of premium characters, but I skipped neighbor visits (sorry neighbors, I just ran out of time each day) and often only logged in 3 times/day sometimes only 1 or 2.  So I’m seriously scratching my head over how so many of you (who regularly have no issues) struggled.

So I want to take a minute to see exactly what happened.  What went wrong.  Was it you.  Or was it the game.  So if you fell short, or nearly fell short, please take a minute to answer the  questions below in the comment section, so that we can all take a look and see what happened, and determine if we can offer any advice so you don’t fall short on Act 2.

Here we go…

-How many characters did you have at the HQ?
-Any of those characters Premium?  Any of them super premium?
-How often did you log into TSTO to clear your town?  How many times/day?
-Did you complete the Act 1 main questline?
-Did you visit your neighbors?  Every day?  How many did you visit?
-Did you complete the Dossier Tasks each day to earn the extra 1,000 intel/day?
-Did you get any Daily Challenges for Intel?  Did you skip other challenges (hitting the x) to earn Intel or Schematics?
-Did you play the Drone Scan game every 4hrs?  What was your average score like?
-Did you start the event late?
-At any point were you ahead of the Calendar?  Or were you always behind?
-Did you unlock all of the prizes?  Last minute? Missed out? (which ones did you miss?)

Appreciate y’all taking a minute to answer the questions!

  1. I was actually about 14 hours late in starting the event. Still made it with plenty to spare. Had the usual 4x on weekdays and 5 to 6 on the weekend. (Yeah, I don’t do much on weekends.)
Had all the regular characters working the event. And I did have the benefit of a couple of premium characters. Already had Duffman from the recent discount. Then picked up Scorpio at the beginning of this event. Act 2 shouldn’t be a problem either as I picked up Femme Fatale right away this morning.
I visit all 60 of my neighbors every day, even thou I only benefit from 30 visits, as I believe they benefit from the extra clicks.

  2. I did start the event off with a bang 💥 slightly ahead of the calendar with no premium characters. Then slowly felt like I was falling behind but barely keeping up.
Logged in to clear tasks 4times a day, took Cranky’s advise to just tap, don’t pay attention on the drone game & got around 33ish spies each time.
If I didn’t buy mastermind Scorpio I’m not sure 🤔 if I would of compleated the prize track.

I did “cheat” on one of the prizes by spending 5 donuts.
Yes my thoughts on this event was “This is one of the events were it’ll be harder to complete the prize track”
It does appear that EA is not making it EAsy without premium content.
Normally only the “fighting” ones or “currency converting ones” are this challenging.

  3. Did the bonus money and xp percentage change for anyone? I thought i had more earlier.

  4. My A game – no problem. Finished the main tasks, and finished off 2nd round of bonuts before I went to bed last night (EDT). Had 3 premiums characters at start (Rex, Lucius, Gabbo), and bit on the Scorpio deal halfway thru. Mix of logins. Some days I can get into the game regularly, some days not.

B game – barely got Dentz. Non-premium only, and frequently only able to log in twice a day. (if your device is already logged in to EA, it only takes a couple minutes to open the game, clear and reset. if you actually have enter email/password, it’s a PITA. Wish EA would let me save userid)

  5. Didn’t get the last prize – never struggled before. Averaged about 22 with the drone scan. Completed all the dossier. Visited friends. Logged in at least 3 times a day. Used all available characters – think it was 10 at a time. Didnt have enough donuts even to buy James Bont so not happy.

  6. I did really well. logged in 4 times for HQ/drone and a quick log-in in between to clear the MIT. Avg drone score was probably 600. Really drilled it for bonuts and bagged over 30 (didn’t track it) and needed them after Scorpio and the Nerds.

What annoys me is I’ll be away the first week of May. I’m hoping the prize list will be crappy but after seeing act 2, I’m guessing the villain with the mace is a prize…..

  7. I missed Bondt buy about 2000.

  8. – 7 (Abu, Krusty, Skinner, Moe, Homer, Marge & Cletus) unless they were required for another quest/dossier.
    – No premium or Super premium characters. (I don’t own any)
    – During the event every 4 hours 3/4 times a day. There were days when it was only twice a day (life). For past events this hasn’t ever been a problem.
-Yes. I would complete the quest line as available, priority given to this over grinding for Intel.
-Neighbor visits were not as consistent as event play. Using the Springfield Heights Leaderboard I have 56 friends on my list. Of those I think there are usually 5 that I cannot visit (or rather tap on anything in their town). I would say I visited every other day.

This is also the first event (maybe second) that I have used neighbors. I lost my original TSTO when I upgraded my iPad (I didn’t have an account created. I was super bummed that I lost all of those event items and characters, but that’s life, it hasn’t been hard to get through the levels again).

All that to say, I have never had to rely on my neighbor visits before to complete an event. Some have been really, really close, but I’ve managed to complete them. Even with out logging in every 4 hours on the button.

    – Yes, again, gaining Intel was a priority in my game play.
    -Yes
-Yes, 25-30 agents; 5-6 super agents
    – I don’t think so, if I did it was only by a day.
    – I didn’t follow the calendar on here. Usually we can average 48 hours per item. This is my general rule of thumb. For this event I feel like I was ahead until item 3, then on target for 4. Then nothing…
    – I did not get Dentz & Agent Bont.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this!

  9. I missed a few log in sessions and I managed to get all the prizes with like 3 days left. I think I ended up getting 12 bonuts as well. I assume it’s because I have a fair amount of premium characters to send to HQ (including the Uni Nerds). I also got lucky with my daily task and got a few 1000 Intel reward points.

    • Same experience here and I don’t even have the nerds. Not sure why people had so much trouble, it seemed to be the typical Act for me. Weird.

      • I also very rarely visit neighbors. I tend to only visit them if I need a few extra points to get a prize or if I can tell if I’m running behind.

  10. I’m wondering about this too, I have a friend who slightly missed it .. He bought Bont for 25 Donuts then.

I had no issues with this event, to be honest. I finished 4 Days before the End and got 12-15 Bonuts .. I think around 105.000 Intel at the end. I had 4 Premium and 1 Superpremium at the Headquarter + the normal ones. Logged in at least 4 times a day but didn’t even bother to visit neighbours regularly, missed on 3-4 days I think. But I tried to tap as many agents as possible every 2 hours and every time I before started the Drone Game. I only started it whem the message popped up that there are no more left in my town. Them I played the drone game and recieved 400-500 Intel plus some schematics. Maybe this makes a difference ?

  11. In my opinion, the premium characters had a huge impact. My A game had almost all premium characters helping with the headquarters, they earned about 30,000 Intel on top of the freemium characters. This roughly corresponds with my 6 completed bonut-rounds (6 x 5,000 = 30,000) in my A game. My B game, without premium characters, got Bont one hour before the start of act two.

    A town: 18 characters (8 basic, 5 premium, 5 superpremium)
B town: 7 characters (all basic)

A town: 4 to 5 times cleared per day
B town: 3 to 4 ltmes cleared per day

    Both towns completed the questline

Both towns infrequent neighbor visits, about 5 times during act 1
A town 30 friends per visit
B town 15 friends per visit

Both towns completed all dossier tasks

Both towns got a daily challenge for 1,000 Intel approx. 4 to 5 times
Did not skip other challenges (since they were for donuts)

Both towns played the Drone Scan with each 4 hour log-in. Average score was about 400 Intel

Both towns started the event on the first day.

A town was always ahead of the calendar
B town was always behind the calendar

    Both towns unlocked all prizes.
A town finished about four days ago
B town finished with one hour to spare (and setting the alarm in the middle of the night) before the start of act 2

  12. I found the frequency of spy generation slow but thought my premium characters and ability to tap out 6x per day would finish me on time at the least. However, I finished my usual 4ish days in advance to enjoy a feeding frenzy on bonuts.
Usually I don’t have premium characters to match the events but circumstances have benefited me. Subtract, I suppose, one day for that advantage and I’m still at 3 bonut days.
Probably the event was less than optimal but I don’t think it was significantly handicapped.
Just my observations. I’m curious how others calculate the efficiency of their secret agency.

  13. I think EA was trying to alleviate the many complaints that were fielded here about people not having a leg up on things when they spent $$ on premium players, etc. I’m pretty much freemium and didn’t get Bont. I also concentrate on the Bonuts from the recycling center first and that took longer than usual.

  14. It was down to the wire for me but I did get Bont right at the end and I was on and did all the things you asked about. This game does get time consuming to get everything done on time. It also takes donuts to stay up sometimes. But this is a cool game and to me it’s fun to fight to the end of each event . Takes a lot of tapping for sure. Keep tapping fellow tappers keep tapping.

  15. I was earning~8,000 to 9,000 a day and finished about a week early.
I started with 8 characters and finished with13 and I logged in 4 or 5 times a day.
I now have 15 characters earning currency, logged in twice, completed 3 dossiers under Act 2 and have ~7,000 blue floppies.
Also, once Day 2 became active, then Day 3…. I did NOT have to wait for each to complete before moving on, I completed all 3 Acts (1,2 & 3) simultaneously.

  16. -7
    -2 premium
-3 to 4 times a day. Didn’t’ play as much Saturdays & Sundays
    -Yes
-Visited 5 days a week and completed my 90 actions
-Completed Dossier tasks and got Screampillar
    -Yes, no
-Yes, tapped 28 to 38 agents each time
    -No
    -Yes
-Unlocked Bont on the last day (by mid-day)

  17. petshopboy1980s

I had Bont like 4.5 days early.
Not sure what happened, either. Seemed easy enough.

  18. I finished with 8 hours to spare and I took an entire weekend off for my birthday while I was out of town. When I came back I was pretty dedicated though, even waking up in the middle of the night a tapping a couple of nights. I have all but two of the premium characters that were playable, though, so I’m wondering if that’s part of the problem for some.

  19. Answers to questions:
    – 12 or 13 characters
    – 1 or 2 premium
    – 3 – 5 times per day
    – Completed quest line(s)
    – Visit daily, 2 friends
    – Completed dossier tasks
    – Completed daily challenges, did change 1 or 2
    – Did drone scan about four times per day – do not remember average score but it was always higher on my iPad than my iPhone
    -Started on time
    – Almost always ahead of schedule
    – Got all prizes

Other comments: my wife who plays less frequently, got everything in the final hours

And, if anything I think the crafting math needs revision

  20. -How many characters did you have at the HQ? 10 or 11 (depending)

-Any of those characters Premium? Any of them super premium? Four premium

-How often did you log into TSTO to clear your town? How many times/day? 2-4 times a day

-Did you complete the Act 1 main questline? yes

-Did you visit your neighbors? Every day? How many did you visit? most days (probably five of seven) and visited the max each time.

-Did you complete the Dossier Tasks each day to earn the extra 1,000 intel/day? yes

-Did you get any Daily Challenges for Intel? Did you skip other challenges (hitting the x) to earn Intel or Schematics? Yes, I did get Intel

-Did you play the Drone Scan game every 4hrs? What was your average score like? the same 2-4 times per day, getting between 450 and 550.

-Did you start the event late? no

-At any point were you ahead of the Calendar? Or were you always behind? Mostly ahead, I think.

-Did you unlock all of the prizes? Last minute? Missed out? (which ones did you miss?) Unlocked all prizes plus two rounds of Bonuts.

  21. Played 2-3x a day. 4 the last few.
All players avaliable(usually 8) engaged in event.
Always focused on event as primary, half of log ins were just restart the 8 jobs and then run the shooting mini game.
Didn’t visit freinds towns often, maybe 3X 50 friends
Need 225donuts for Bont, kinda a disappointment, always easily get everything and normally get the 3 donut bonus a few times. ( fremium player here)
Definitely feels like the event started late or something.
Also, the 1st day the schematics were way behind but then they fixed it so now I have plenty and should be able to craft most things… or atleast a bunch if manholes tubes, they’re cool.

  22. Theresa McDade

I have been playing for a couple of years x log in at least 3/4 times a day. X visit neighbours everday and only just missed last one 😥😥 never missed out before xx

  23. Kirsty Marshall

Like Alissa I managed all tasks with plenty time (bagged 9 donughts with the extra time left) I also wasn’t on every day and missed some neighbour visits.

  24. I got the last prize right before bed last night. I log in every 4 hours, 4 or 5 times a day. I’ve been playing since Halloween ’13 and this is the first time I was this close to not getting all the prizes (usually finish with 2.5 days left).

I have a total of 13 people at HQ, 2 are premium and the 3 nerds are super premium.
I did finish Act 1 questline.
I visited my neighbors (35-40 depending if their was something to tap) everyday.
I completed all my dossier tasks and I had several Intel/Schematics daily task prizes (yesterday I was lucky to decline a donut prize to a 1,000 intel prize).
The drone scan is the one place I think that I had problems, I played every 4 hours but only averaged about 30.
I started the event pretty much when the update hit the iOS app store. I was ahead of the calendar (as I usually am) in the first week, after that I usually stop comparing with the calendar.

“The drone scan is the one place I think that I had problems, I played every 4 hours but only averaged about 30.”

Averaging about 30 agents? Or 30 Intel? 30 agents seem less right but 30 intel is low.

  25. Jeremiah Jones-Goldstein

I’m very interested to see if it because people did not have the premium characters and that was the problem. I had everyone for the event except Dedrek Tatum and Duffman. I also bought the Nerds on the second day they were available and Russ Cargil. I finished on Saturday.

At first I thought it was going to be closer than it was but I finished comfortably.

Had most of the characters including super premium.
Play at least four times a day, sometimes three.
    Completed the quest line
Visited Neighbors almost every day, missed two or three
Did the dossier tasks every day
Did daily challenges but had more doughnut prizes than intel or scematics prizes
Dron scanned every time I cleared town so three four times a day
    Started event on time

I think without the Nerds I might not have done it.

  26. Yeah…SMH here, since I was done sooooooo far ahead of schedule that I can’t even remember how long it was that I collected intel only for bonuts? Seems like the complaints must’ve come from them forgetting to do at least one of your mentioned items.

  27. I am a freemium player and started one day late. With signing on 4x a day I was able to catch up and finish early, concentrating on the dossier tasks and the drone scan game. I also finished up the questline and even got my monorail pieces!! Good luck to all and lets hope act 2 is as enjoyable as act 1 was!!

  28. I missed the last prize by a few hundred intel. What makes it worse is that I had characters collecting. Would have finished 23 minutes before act 2 was to start. I just couldn’t stay awake for it.
I played this like I’ve played every other event. Pretty solid on my 4 hours. Always did the questline, didn’t skip daily dossier, or daily challenge, didn’t skip any intel either. Average score on drone was high 30 with 5 supers.
Thanks for asking and glad to hear I wasn’t alone in missing the last prize.

  29. My guess is that it’s based on premium characters, which, if true, is kind of lame of EA. I have most of the premium characters, logged in at least 3 or 4 times per day and visited friends with relative frequency. While I did get the final prizes, I was much closer to the deadline than usual. I hope this doesn’t become a regular thing for EA because it really gives the feeling of forcing people to spend money/donuts to keep up and that just smacks of greed over game. In general, I like this update and I hope that my assessment above is inaccurate, but one never knows…

  30. Tapped exactly how I always do and even had a bit of a sliw start. Finished over three days before the first act ended and earned 5rounds of bonuts. Kinda bizarre that other regulars weren’t seeing the same results.
