Math, Science, and Common Sense for Black Friday

I know…I know…you are going to come up with a million reasons to justify spending donuts and cash on Black Friday.  It’s just the way people have been trained these days in the United States, and yes…it is creeping into Europe as well.

But, I will say this once again...do NOT let your impulses get the best of you.  At best, this is gambling. At worst, it is a complete money grab by EA. (Sorry John)

Let’s take a look at the two primary “dopamine tools” that EA employs here.

Most of what follows has to do with those who are considering dropping REAL CASH for Black Friday.  Let’s put this into perspective really quickly… we’re talking about $49.99 here. What could you get in the REAL world with $50.  During the sales this weekend…a TON of stuff (like 5 pairs of jeans at Old Navy).

So…let’s break down why you think you WANT to drop $50…and why you should take a pause.

1. Instant gratification…driven by a boost of dopamine to the brain…which helps create addiction.  No surprises here. The entire online gaming industry is built on this, and phone addiction is as common as the excuses we use to explain it. But…take a look back over the past year, and ask yourself one questions.  Once you have done the grinding to get something (perhaps the huge number of donuts needed to get everything offered), do you get anything out of it?  Do you even remember the last 10 items you bought for TSTO…without looking?

Nope. You buy it. You move on. And except for having to clear the task from a character, the “satisfaction zone” for a character is getting shorter and shorter.  So…before you think you need EVERYTHING… think again. You don’t.

1b. – At best, this sucks in the gamblers that think they are getting a deal by winning…even if it takes hundreds of donuts to get something that will likely show up later in a Vault offering. Hundreds…for a bauble.  Even for donut farmers…you have to place a value on your TIME.

2.  Read the above reality check, and then…add to this that you are being asked to drop at LEAST $50 to get a donut factory that makes 6 donuts a day.  Even if you are placing value on the donuts in real terms…they are worth between .16 each (if you buy a dozen) and .04 each (if you buy a boatload).  Which means you will have to do “hard time” of as much as 208 days, before you recoup your expenditure!   SERIOUSLY???  THIS IS A GOOD DEAL???

I am not going to call out those who will work hard to justify this ridiculous expense.  You cannot be helped.

But, I will point out that EA is making every Black Friday more punitive than than the last…and that is is a rip-off of epic proportions.

More so…  It is ALWAYS a huge “Regret-Fest” when the Christmas update hits…and we hear tons and tons of players whining that they “wish they had saved their money for this event, instead of blowing it on useless stuff on Black Friday.

Now…if you are a DONUT FARMER…much of what I have written is moot. You are playing with “House Money” and all you have squandered is the time spent to grind the donuts.  And yes…I confess to being elated when I got Kamp Krusty for 20 donuts on my first spin….and Herb Powell on my 2nd.  But, then I walked away!  I didn’t want anything else.  Vegas hates me. That’s why. I spend what I can afford…have my fun…and leave…especially if I am winning.

Here’s the thing… if you passed on items during the events…there was likely a reason.  After years and years of playing, I have LOADS of items that I have not bought…and never will. They show up every Black Friday…and I ignore them.

Show some common sense… rEAlly!

Most of this isn’t worth your time…and certainly not your money!

OH……and a LOT of you are asking (once again) where to find info on donut farming.  Do a SEARCH in the Search box on this site…

*******ADDENDUM TO ORIGINAL POST******

As I predicted, people are stumbling over themselves to justify the $50 expenditure.

For the record…. you need to understand that this is a marketing test by EA. They are testing the waters to see how far we will go, before we push back.

I Don’t Mind Giving Money to EA!!   What I do mind…is that for the same kind of “lame-ish” items…they have gone from $10, to $20 to $50…in very short order.

If you continue to support this method…they will ultimately keep jacking it up to $100 or more. Mark my words… I’ve been in marketing my entire adult life, and they are “pushing to find the point of pricing resistance.”

If you want to be part of the problem…go ahead. Don’t resist.  For me…I vote NO!  Not worth it…at all. 208 days minimum to recoup the cost…that’s just silly.

  1. Honestly… I’m amazed the game has lasted this long. While I’ve had my frustrations I ultimately tip my hat to a game that remains free for those who want to play it that’s way.

    • I bought the donut factory. I have billions in in-game cash and thousands of donuts. My multiplier is over 3,500. I certainly didn’t need the factory, or to buy any donuts. I just enjoy playing the game, and have for several years. Development won’t continue for free. I don’t have a problem chipping in now and then to keep the game going. My enjoyment of the game is something that I factor heavily into my buying decisions, and that is sometimes weighted heavier than a strict dollars and sense analysis. It may take many months for the factory to pay for itself, but I’ll also get a lot of additional enjoyment out of the game in those months. I’m happy I bought it.

      • I am apparently going to have to amend the original post… I don’t mind giving money to EA, for all of the reasons you cited. Just not $50. Toooooo much.
This is a test…by their marketing department, to see how much we will put up with. I vote…no!

I like to gamble, I’m not complaining with this black Friday but seriously though these are better deals than last year. You can get a character for only 40 in the youngsters box donuts that’s a good deal even if it might not be the one you want at least you got a character plus it feels like there something fir most people like an NPC box or a costume box or a secret agents box I really like this black Friday and I might just spend $2.00 to get another coin

  3. Tracy-1ltwoody920

    Well,
I spent a couple of bucks buying donuts, ($2.)
It has been a while since I put real money into the game. I used to do that Survey Thing, to earn Apple Money and then use the THAT to buy donuts, but I grew weary of answering Stupid Questions and trying to hide my REAL person from the Evils of the Web.
(Don’t call me Ishmael, call me Paranoid).
Bought some skins and side characters- wish they would Bring back
CLASH OF THE CLONES characters, which were before my game play.
Most of the remaining stuff doesn’t excite me.

As far as gambling, I don’t. Once or twice a year, my wife and I visit a casino 🎰, especially if the Senior Center has a good deal on a trip.
$30 with transportation, $20 in game credit and $5 in food credit. Fun excursion and we CHOOSE to SPEND up to a given amount. If we aren’t having fun, we may, and HAVE, spent LESS.
It’s an adult video game. Don’t expect to WIN, just expect to SPEND slowly and enjoyably.
If THIS game ceases – been fun, ce la vie, nice knowing y’all
Until then, relax and have fun.

  4. I’ve been playing the game for 4 years straight now… I always drop $10 or $20 every now and then, no big deal, right? Those numbers add up. I did some reasoning in my head. I’m a very patient person, and I don’t impulse buy, which is the very reason I bought the factory. Come next Black Friday, if I log in every day (as I already do) and don’t spend any donuts on a few mystery boxes, I’ll have 2,190+ donuts saved away. Seriously, I have no problem waiting. 🙂 And I don’t have the hassle of KEM farming, which eats up a lot of time. I’m never spending another cent on this game, however. No need to, not even for stupid donut bundles (I can wait for a mystery box).

  5. I can’t see myself spending the $50, but is it really a bad deal? You get back donuts in perpetuity, right? So over 2000 a year. So $100 worth a year. Over 2 years you would be getting $200 value for $50. And no need to spend hours farming. Time is life currency to paraphrase someone.

    • Donuts are a commodity with a malleable value…

    • I don’t understand the calculation for farmers who say they can earn six donuts a day with bloodmobile farming.
You can, but… unless you are getting actual enjoyment out of those many hours spent monotonously farming for a year, consider the cost per hour of your time on all that busywork compared to $50,. And never farming again for all the donuts you’d ever want.

      • The point of farming is not earning 6 donuts a day. For example, my test game is at 4000% bonus. I earned 18 donuts is less than one minute. I can do that while reading this and watching TV. If plotted out right it takes less than a second to place a KEM. You can sell 36 KEMs in less then 10 seconds. While most of the time I don’t farm because donuts generate from the game is enough for most events, being able to set up a farm that can generate 100s of donuts every four hours is great for a special opportunity like this Black Friday. For some, using cash to buy donuts is like using a cheat code. For others, they think it is supporting the game. I have no quarrel with anyone one the position they take, they are all valid. I could easily spend money for this game that may disappear tomorrow. I could use my cash to support charities, like the school Patric supports in Africa. I prefer the second option. I use this game as something to do while I am doing other stuff (watch TV, running on the treadmill, waiting in line). I don’t let the game rule my life (for instance setting a timer to visit the game every 4 hours even when I am sleeping). I don’t usually have to speed through a task, but I would rather spend farmed donuts to achieve a deadline then set a clock to visit the game while I am sleeping.

  6. So, I’m not going to buy the donut factory (I gotta pay for Thanksgiving groceries!). But if I were, this is how I’d justify it: I’ve been playing this game, freemium-style, for almost five years. $50 breaks down, then, to less than a dollar a month for a game I have played at least a little bit every single day. That’s way cheaper than what I was spending on WoW back when that was my game (I’m a one-game-at-a-time gal), and a pretty good price for something that I enjoy.

Obviously, everyone’s personal situation, values, and calculations will be different, and for some purchasing the factory may very well be a bad move. But I don’t think it’s inherently wrong.

  7. I doubt I was alone but I actually came up with the idea of a Donut-producing Donut Factory well before the inflation age, but not for real $ and I never posted it so not my fault.

That said, I haven’t decided whether or not to buy, but I understand both sides. I would, however, as I’ve done before, point out that buying Donuts with a premium Item is like getting an extra 100 Donuts, only they’re specific to the bonus Item. And if you simply opt to convert the 23 coins to Donuts you yield another 276 – and a much higher value if you spend them on gold boxes. Thus…

    900 Store Front
    100 (Shopping cart pileup)
    100 (Monstromart)
    100 (Donut Factory)
    276 (converted tokens)

1,476 total Donuts for $50, which is $.034 per Donut, and you get another 6 every 24+ hours thereafter.

Feel free to check the numbers – there may be errors there, I could’ve misunderstood the other post, and I usually let Excel do the work for me – but…

    Math

    • Lots of ways to do the math. But at the least it will takes more than 200 days to recoup your investment.

      • If it’s any help to encourage building xp bonus and kem farming, I’m now at level 939 with xp bonus percent of 803.25. If I was to continously kem farm 4 times a day, running xp excelerator buying and selling 72 kems for 200 days at an average of 15 donuts I receive every 4 hours I would make 12,000 donuts in the same time to recoup that 50£ investment 😁. This number doesn’t include the other ways to earn donuts. I find that at my level 72 kems is the perfect number to still allow me to make game income too. You just need to find that sweet spot for your level.

      • You gettng alot more income from the buildings and characters +xp so your farmings getting a good boost

      • True, if viewed as an investment, but when did people start looking at games as a financial investment? They’re just games. I don’t get money back from sporting events, movies, etc. – they are all time wasters in some form – so I can’t look at it quite that way. Rather, as with any other ‘waste’ of money, ‘is it worth it to me?’

        • Again… read the first paragraph. If you are happy…that is all that matters. Common sense rarely enters into impulse buys. But remember, there can’t be a rush of dopamine without DOPE. Or something like that…

  8. I totally lucked out with this one. Spent 4 US buckaroos and ended up with Barney and his Bowlarama, Adil Hoxha (from my favourite episode) and the Cat Lady with her house. The three I have been wanting most for years. On top of that I got Jay G with his cute goose and the mansion. I couldn’t have hoped for better drops. The only weak point was I ended up with a couple buildings I didn’t need from the Hidden Agenda Mystery box because I was hoping for Scotland Yard but oh well. Dopamine levels are good and no I will not be spending more money. I lucked out. ^^

  9. In defense of Time wasted by donuts farmers. At 1,000,000 XP for 3 donuts or 200,000 XP with the collider on. A KEM produces 2,000 XP when built. So that takes 100 KEM with no bonus. With 100% bonus that is 50 KEM. At 200%, 33.3; 300%,25; 400%;20; 500%, 16.6; 600%, 14.3; 700%, 12.5; 800%, 11.1; 900%, 10; -> 2000%, 4.8; 3000%, 3.2; 4000% 2.4.

    By buying Mystery Boxes (6 donuts) it will cost you less than 9 donuts per % increase. So 100% increase will cost you less than 900 donuts, or 300 donuts boxes. Assuming the worst case scenario, where you waited til you had enough donuts for 100% increase it would take you 30,000 KEMS to go from 0% to 100%. 15,000 more to 200%; 10,000, 300%; 7,500, 400%, 6000, 500%, 5000, 600%; 4286, 700%; 3750, 800%; 3333, 900%; 3000, 1000%;
    20063 from 1000% to 2000%; 11917 from 2000% to 3000%; 8507 from 3000% to 4000%.

For example it would take you 62,600 KEMs to go from 0 to 300%. Double that and you would get to 5200%.

At 300% it takes 25 KEMs to get 3 donuts, so if you buy an 120 donuts item, you will need to farm (120/3)*25) or 1000 KEMS. At 3000% it is (120/3)*4.8 or 192 KEMS, or 818 difference. 58317 is the number of KEMS between 300% and 3000%. So after 72 120 donuts items you would have spent less time KEM farming.

This is NOT taking account of all the extra cash and XP earned by characters and buildings along the way.

(As a personal side note, my time invested KEM farming is time that would have no value otherwise – I do it while watching TV).

    • Ok Charles. That is your last donut farming pimp post I will allow. We get it. You are fan of farming.

    • OCD? (I know I have it … I bought everything … finished the tasks … and will likely just store them)
But on the real side: at 4000% you would be just wasting time by KEM farming as there’s likely nothing you could use your donuts on. You’re better off just buying Rat trap trucks … less taps/time. (Also …. it becomes a burden to constantly collect boxes even when finishing character tasks 🙂 )

      • Everyone acts like farming is useless unless you have 1000% or more. I am at around 500…and earn 50 or more a day…every day. So it can be done with a lot less donuts.

        • Definitely not useless, but as you said above: somehow, having everything, cheapens the experience.

Clearly, farming is more efficient when the percentage is higher, but there’s a limit.
1000% or 10000000% is almost the same thing(although not enough space to reach the later).
The biggest impediment will be the delay between opening boxes(2-3 seconds per try).
Higher percentage => More ‘in game cash’ for the same tasks => More donuts for less IGC => More time to farm to spend all the IGC => you’ll likely hit the IGC cap (IGC which EA has rendered useless) 🙂
I, for one, stopped increasing it a bit late, at 6500%.

          • I used to have a higher bonus percent, but found that it wasn’t necessary (or even smart) to keep all that extra stuff in my town (piece limits and lack of land are more of a problem today).
I maintain a bonus level of around 800% to 830% and run my collider 24/7. That’s more than enough juice to generate bunches of game cash and also 12 to 15 donuts/day.
Any amount of extra game cash that has piled up for a month (usually 20 to 30 million) gets turned into donuts one day a month using Rat Trap Trucks. All my extra bonus items (around another 800%) are “group stored” and pulled out for that one day a month while I’m farming, then go back into storage. This system only works because I’ve kept my piece count at around 10,600 (by storing seasonal stuff when the event is over) and have free land to pull out extra bonus items when needed.
The best part of this system…no KEM farming, RTT farming only one day a month, and plenty of free pieces to work/design with. Why keep an extra 600 to 800 pieces in your town everyday when you only need to use them one day a month for farming?
Just having a high bonus percent isn’t the whole solution anymore. EA is limiting land consumption and piece counts, so having a game strategy that accomodates those limits and allows you to generate plenty of donuts, while still being able to design and enjoy the game, is becoming more of an issue.

  10. I turn the multiplier on when I get below 1500 donuts in either of my 2 towns. Usually during an event when I’m more motivated to tap on my 2 towns every 3 or 4 hours as dictated by said event. I only have 1 town live collecting @ a time; Or I feel it may be too stressful for me (Not a Spring Chicken; Rather an old Aussie chook!)

I KEM farm & do RTD trucks when the multiplier is on. But it does get boring laying out so many KEM’s & clearing them- even for a retiree!

I have many billions of in game cash; Having played this game on my A game since week 1 & my B game since the November before the Easter Wheel event. (Whenever that was!)

    • Having said that above; I am with Patric. Despite being donut rich; I’ve only dropped my donuts on the Creatures box @ 15 donuts per try. It seemed best value to me.
My B game received (in order) Pro Shop – Dance Bot – Chippy – Dinosaur – & yard simulator. (I was dismayed that dance bot & chippy had no % bonus attached) – The only thing I didn’t want from that box was the Frog Prince – He annoys me so much when I accidentally tap on him in my A game. Fortunately; He is the last thing in the box & I didn’t get him! (Nor will I!)

My A game received (In order) Yard simulator – chippy – Burn’s dragon (Which I got last event in my B game @ a much higher cost) & Golf shop. Not interested in acquiring dance bot & dinosaur – so no more buys on this box for me in that game either!

As a note to others – Some items appear more than once (Like the yard simulator) Clear the lower price box for that particular item – I think it’s in the youngsters box for 40 donuts per gamble – Better to clear it for 15 is my thought!

    • how many billions do you have? I read that someone hit 4B & it rolled back to 0

      • Not exactly 4 billion, but the numbers do start regressing at a certain point. However, that regression means you are actually exceeding that certain point. So if you have 5 billion, your display might only show 3 billion.

      • Close to 4 billion in my A game & 2.3 in my B game. There is so little to spend the in game cash on now; So one might as well farm that useless in game cash for donuts.

I think it was my neighbour Charles (whom has posted on this thread) that had a problem with in game cash. I’m not sure of the nature of the problem; But it was evidently resolved? If you see this Charles; Can you confirm please?

  11. I refuse to drop a penny on any mobile game. I’ve accumulated roughly 1500 doughnuts, since starting in March ’15, solely from what the game offers/rewards me (no farming), and I’ve bought a few characters along the way, but I also have just over 800 sitting there unused until I come across a character that I really want, and I think is a reasonable price!

  12. Has anyone even pondered the fact that EA could be putting an end to KEM farming and the Donut Factory could possibly be the first indicator of that? KEM farming contributes nothing to their coffers and it is not fiscally viable for them to allow it to continue. No money in equals no payrolls for programmers thus no product out. They have to pay people somehow and selling donuts is their revenue stream. I gladly bought it and had no problem paying for the service of having updates, events and etc. as opposed to claiming that I pay for a game.

    • Sure. And then again…they get a lot of traction out of publishing how many players they have. They also know that even the most stanch farmer will drop a few bucks into the game now and then…they are as addicted as everyone else. So…no…killing farming would be the death of the game at his point. They’d lose players in bucket loads.

      • Equate it this way maybe…. How long would your local watering hole stay in business, paying bands, television coverage of sports etc.,if you brought your own bottle and never paid for a drink while you enjoyed all that came with being in said establishment?

        • We have this argument every year…… the question…using your analogy, is “so the same band plays year after year. But every time you come they double the price of admission. When do you say enough is enough…not worth it? Started this concept at $10…now… year later, it’s $50. It’s still a bunch of pixels…sitting on a server you don’t own. Go it?

        • Scotty, if your bar is empty it is worth it to bring in customers. That is why ladies night existed, happy hour, etc. It is why some bars pays people (influencers) to show up.

    • I more see hem making donuts the new in-game cash instead of cash

    • Blue haired lawyer

If EA does something to change KEM farming for the worse I don’t know what will happen and EA probably doesn’t want to find out many people will quit the game and give it a bad name and the ship will sink, if there’s no player base theres no one to sell $10 or $20 exclusive characters to.

  13. We get Google Play money for free by answering their surveys. We’re sitting on over $50 right now so we might just make the plunge. We don’t really have any other use for the money.

  14. I like how the tone of this site has changed from “TSTO is awesome, and you should really kick in money now and then to help keep it going” to “This game kinda stinks, why would you waste money on it?”

    • It has noa changed…except when EA keeps changing the rules. It’s a moving goal post. And what we are BOTH saying, is that $50 is too much. This concept started at $10. Jumped to $20 in short order…and is now at $50. They are employing classic marketing tactics…pushing to a price of resistance…and then likely pulling back. $50 is waaaay too much. And they need to know that.

      • I have put money in the game and totally agree that $50 is too much.

Tonight I have spent $50 as a direct result of playing this game, but I have spent that money on a far better cause in the knowledge that it will actually be put to far better use than buying a building that can only earn me a fraction of the donuts I earn each day by farming.

      • Hey Patric; In Australia the 90 donut buy is $79.99! & The higher one a whopping $159.99! You converted me to farming & for that I thank you!
I’m also a bit perturbad that the donut buy icon is in my task bar! Just to remind me I’m playing freemium after many years of spending real money on my 2 games?!

  15. Very good points. I wasn’t biting on the mystery boxes but your reasoning is valid.

  16. There a couple of boxes that have only one thing I really want. There are are a few that have 2 or 3 things I really want and 2 that have nothing.
I would be prepared to gamble on getting something I really want, but the odds are too long as there are so many items available and there are so many boxes. The chances of me getting what I want are so slim I don’t want to risk it.
I have therefore decided not to gamble and I will save my donuts for Christmas or I might spend them on something that is generally always available in the store. This way I will be certain of getting something I really want.

  17. “gamblers aren’t addicted to winning….its the feeling of almost getting the win that gets them their high”

  18. Do you get something out of it? Of course…its like going to the gym and feeling good afterwards. Everything is driven from dopamine even from the most stupidest things

  19. You, Sir, nailed it! This is definitely a gamble and a $ grab from EA (who I will give credit for the 1 free Gold Token that scored me the Lovejoy House + Daughter – hey more Churchy Joe’s!👍) that shouldn’t be 7 Days buy on impulse ….. how about 14 Days so that Tappers can wait to decide in December! 🤷🏼‍♀️

  20. Pyanfar the Hani

I’m playing with house money at this point, with enough cash that I worry they’ll cap it some day. So rat trap delivery trucks with the collider on is allowing me to pick up characters. I’m very meh about buildings and decorations unless they are part of my inherent design (like I want the London Eye back for my faux Epcot) but I have character animations that I love seeing every time I check the game. Ladybot and the cats, my opera stage has all 5 performers going, Adult Maggie rocking out and so on. There’s at least 40 I make a point of setting to their visual task that I really like. The rest are on 24 hour tasks.

So yeah, I cleaned out the Women mystery box offerings for starters (I had most of them already).

Complete tangent, I did notice that the setup is pay 50 donuts for women mystery box and 80 donuts for men mystery box. Hmmmm…. have the women characters always been priced less and I didn’t notice…?

  21. When I started playing TSTO years ago, it was MUCH MUCH harder to earn donuts and I never minded paying for them to support the game.. Now with the tons of ways to score free donuts, I (along with many other long term players) have not needed to purchase donuts for well over a year. I still appreciate all the hard work that goes into keeping this game fun and running smoothly so I have no complaints about paying a little now and then. This little game is by far the LEAST expensive hobby I have.

  22. The Donut Factory is an absolute rip off. Definitely not worth paying £50 for. I have never bought anything from a black Friday sale before, this is the first year I participated. I bought 300 donuts because I have been playing the game for years and think it’s worth spending a little money on occasionally, just to keep the game going if nothing else. I ended up getting so many things that I have wanted for such a long time such as Hank Scorpio, Jesus & swing, The Hungry Hun, Himeji Castle plus I got Scratchy, Sarah Wiggam (both of which cost 300 each originally if I remember correctly) and loads of other stuff and got to keep my 300 donuts so I am very happy.

  23. I got the Yard Simulator and CHUM for 15 donuts! Wait… is this a “drop them a bait” kinda tactic from EA? Anyway… so happy to get a good deal!

  24. I *want* to get the donut factory… But I’m not going to.

I usually get at least $50 in Google Play gift cards from extended family for Christmas (last year I got $150) and that’s when I go crazy with buying things like this.

If they brought this back then… I’d 100% go for it.

    • I’d like the factory too but, given that Sven was a “limited time, cash only” offer originally just months ago…How long could it possibly be before EA offers the Donut Factory in a different manor? Mystery box, Gil deal whatever…I’ve spent several Thousand Real Dollars on this game, once I added it all up I was ashamed and embarassed that I’d spent so much on a game.
I feel I’ve spent more than my share of cash to support this game, I’ve become a farmer and will not spend any more cash on this game.

  25. Mmmm… dopamine

  26. I still managed to spend 1000 donuts! I bought a few with real cash $18 worth, as here in Australia they are much more expensive. Got all of what was in the token box. Got camp Krusty for 20, got Sophie, got Florence of Arabia, got the last Terlwigger. So I am happy and the coyote. Plus others. Sherry Bobbins. 30 characters and skins, but mostly new functioning characters, so will not complain. I am stopping now and savinf/farming for premiums at xmas as will need all the help I can get.
Thanks for your post, it’s a good wake up call as to not go overboard, easely done!

  27. Can someone tell me what KEM stands for??

  28. $50 for a factory. There’s no way . I’d rather buy a whale.

  29. There are people that enjoy playing the game and are happy to spend some real cash from time to time…nothing wrong with that

    • Like I said in the very first paragraph…

      • In a condescending article in which you assert others cannot be helped. It’s fine to have an opinion on things, I just don’t see the point in being so judgemental. It’s a shame considering how excellent and helpful this site is on the whole. Anyway, my two cents.

        • Well…”can’t be helped” should probably have said “won’t be helped.” Sorry…but the tactics EA are using on this version of Black Friday are exploitive at best.

It’s gone from a handful of slightly discounted items…to a ton of gambling and holding people hostage. Feels more like Family Guy…

          • Right? My first black Friday was timed discounts on a timed (hours) cycle. I had no donuts because I was totally freemium (I hadn’t even been playing a year) and had yet to discover xp/donut farming. I’d much prefer that to the total crapshoot of mystery boxes. At least that way I know what I’m spending the currency on.

    • What’s wrong about it is it encourages EA to keep doing slimy crap like this if they get enough people falling for it.

  30. So basically turn on the multiplier fir 10 days and buy a bunch of Kwik e Marts. Is that farming pretty much? And just do it every 4 hours?

    • Close. More like always have the multiplier on, figure out how much cash your buildings and players generate every 4 hrs and buy that amount worth of KEMs so your money stays constant. And need like just go on and grind it out as often as you like and keep it on a 40hr cycle to make it easy.

But this point in game cash is worthless, nothing to buy really. So blow it on KEMs or Rat Trap Trucks if you’re bonus % is high.

RTTs are actually easier once you get to to about 1500% bonus. And spend all your spare donuts on items that increase your % bonus.

And always always always pay the $ to get the 3 donuts every time. Never settle for 1 or 2

    • Pretty much, yeah – there’s different ways of doing it – multiplier always on and keep your expenditures the same as your income is one way, but that burns me out. I go for 3-10 day stretches and keep my farm a little bigger than what I can make back in collecting from tasks and buildings, then do it again a week or a month later. I have a friend with a ginormous farm, that makes about 30 donuts every 4 hours, who farms once a month or so for 3 days…
You have the gist, just tweak your method.
