Spending actual cash on donuts for an item is once again here in TSTO. This is something EA’s been rolling out over the last few years, and it’s a new bonus for actually spending cash on donuts. (instead of just farming them) Where they attach a limited-time, item to one of the donut bundles sometimes in addition to bonus donuts.
And I want to be perfectly clear…you do not need to buy these items for the event itself. You can still play this game, and complete all the tasks and prizes, 100% free. These cash-for-items are a new type of premium currency…because donuts have been so devalued with donut farming.
This time around we’re being offered Mr. Plow’s Plow, for a tray of 132 Donuts ($9.99 in the US)..no bonus this time around. While it’s hard for me to sit here and tell you if you should or shouldn’t spend actual cash on the game (spoiler, I think you should always spend at least a small amount…even if it’s $.99/year on the game if it brings you joy and you want to see it continue) I thought I’d do a quick breakdown of the plow and anything else you might be curious about.

The annual Christmas/holiday event has arrived in Springfield, so what does EA have in store for us? Well, we’ve got a real mystery on our hands! A holiday whodunnit if you will! Holiday Whodunnit Event follows the same event structure of the Multi-Events before it. This event consists of 4 parts (or Acts), with each part lasting just over a week and taking us through a new part of the event!

Another Act has hit our games, which means it’s time for another calendar. Holiday Whodunnit, Act 3 hit our games yesterday.

Another Act has hit our games, and again with a twist that takes us back to the Stonecutters event. The event introduces trivia into our games. And like Act 1 and Act 2, each part of the questline comes with a trivia question (or more).

In our games, the snow is falling and TSTO is calling yoo hoo! It’s the most wonderful time of the year Tappers, Christmas in TSTO! I just love the look of a fresh blanket of snow covering my pocket-sized town…at least for now. I’ll get sick of it by the time January rolls around…in TSTO and in real life (have I mentioned lately I wanna move to Florida?) Anyway, yes the annual Christmas/holiday event has arrived in Springfield, so what does EA have in store for us? Well, we’ve got a real mystery on our hands! A holiday whodunnit if you will! Poor Santa…
As always, loads of dialogue with this one, so be sure to read along to see what happens! And of course, I’ll be posting it as each week wraps up…
Remember, this Act will still be playable until the event ends on January 12th. However, Act 4 will start on January 4th (note the Tuesday start date)
Things kick off for Act 3 with some dialogue between Marge, Lisa, and Elf Moe…
Elf Moe: Marge, where’s Homer been? Revenue is so low in his absence. Plus, with Barney in the drunk tank the past month… You should stop by and support your local business every so often.
Marge: I’d come more often if you had some more wine options besides “Twist Off White” and “Box Red”.
Elf Moe: Then why don’t you try some of my famous fresh pickled eggnog? If this eggnog wasn’t so delicious, I’d be mad.
Lisa: Enough with the small talk, Moe. We’re investigating the attack on Santa. Tell us where you were and what happened.
Elf Moe: I got nothing to do with it. I was here the whole night. Anybody who told you different has a date with a butcher’s knife.
Lisa: We just need to know if Snake was in here that night.
Elf Moe:Oh, yeah. He stopped in for a beer. Even let me keep half the till when he robbed me, on account of Christmas spirit.
Marge: How does every suspect in town have an alibi?! At least for the specific crime we’re investigating.
Elf Moe: More eggnog?
This triggers the Act 3 questline, Ho-ho-d’oh and is followed by 4hr tasks for Lisa, Marge, and Moe, as well as a task to collect Act 3 Currency (150), and Christmas Trivia. Ho-ho-d’oh is the questline that will take you through unlocking all of this Act’s prizes.
