Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
A rare Monday update has hit our games…and it’s brought Gil back to Springfield!
Gil’s back with what many of us have been waiting for…a DONUT DEAL!!!
Although…it’s not that great of a donut deal, in my opinion…..
Details below the fold
Note: Many of you are reporting not seeing the offers in your donut store. If this is happening to you, try hard closing TSTO and restarting your device. See if that helps to trigger it. If it doesn’t trigger it the next step is to Contact EA. But first let’s see if that triggers it. If it works/doesn’t work please let us know in the comments below.
When you login to Springfield some dialogue between Lisa & Gil will kick things off (you’ll have to tap on Gil for it to start):
Gil: Gather ’round the burning oil drum, children. Ol’ Gil’s going to tell you a summer vacation story!
Lisa: I didn’t know you were a storyteller Gil!
Gil: You’d be surprised at all the things Gil can do when he smells bored children with credit card wielding parents. Anyway…
Once upon a time, there was a weak, tired, grey haired old salesman who needed some money to pay for his kids’ back to school supplies. So he cooked up a bunch of donuts, because he couldn’t afford enough flour for non-holed pastries, threw them in a dumpster, and tried to sell them to gullible kids like you.
Lisa: This story sounds an awful lot like a promotional sale…
Gil: Dang it, they said children were unable to tell the difference between advertising and reality until the age of 12!
Lisa: No…that would be the age of five.
Deal Ends August 12th….08:00 GMT
When you visit your donut show (or hit Get Em Now) here’s what you’ll see:
So basically you can spend $34.99 and get 576 donuts (which as never been offered before) plus a free mystery box. OR you can spend $7.99 (which is slightly discounted down from it’s usual $9.99 price) and get 132 donuts plus $10,000 in game dollars.
Curious about what’s inside the Mystery Box? Here’s the list:
Note all of the items are unique. So if you already have them you’ll be awarded either a Ferris Wheel (improves Consumerism) or a Lard Lad Donuts (improves Gluttony), since they’re the only two you can have multiples of. I will indicate which one is the alternate below the item.
Duff Stadium- Worth 90 Donuts.
Alternate: Ferris Wheel.
Try-N-Save- Worth 70 Donuts. Alternate: Ferris Wheel.
Observatory– Worth 75 Donuts. Alternate: Ferris Wheel.

So there you have it my friends. The details of the latest Gil Deal.
What do YOU think of what Gil is offering? Will you be spending on this deal? Or is it one you’re going to pass on? Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

Pass
Underwhelming to say the least. When I buy donuts it’s $100 at a time. Why not give us that Xmas deal that was offered before… I woulda jumped on that again.
As per the ‘Mystery Box’ there is no pull for completists like myself. A mystery box should always offer an item missed, even if it was limited release IMO. They would make a lot of $$ off a guy like me if I knew I had a chance at the Duff Blimp or the Three Eyed Sushi. It’s a tease.
As per all this FAmily Guy talk…. *puke*
Hard to support ‘Simpsons Lite’ in anything… Including their copycat game
If the Blocko shop were included, I would be really sorry I can’t buy donuts. I tried both donuts and the Scratch-R tickets, and, they weren’t delivered. EA support left the ticket “in progress” for a month, and I had Google reverse the charges. EA hasn’t even responded to complain I took back their money.
You would think of all the things, selling premium currency would be the thing that works. That it would be the project programmer’s only job until it worked flawlessly.
I would very likely take advantage of a donut sale, but they have other priorities, it seems. I wish the shareholders knew.
I bought the £25 donut pack and unlocked the SprawlMart. Any ideas on what I should spend my donuts on? Mostly a freemium player so not bought much before.
We’ve got our top 10 here
http://tstoaddicts.com/2014/01/01/qa-the-addicts-team-top-10/
but honestly i’d hold onto them. something big might be coming down the pike (at the very least Halloween) and you never know when you’ll need them for limited time content. 🙂
Already have all the buildings except for Mt. Carlmore. Going to pass on this one.
I can’t complain too much, but I would of rather just had all donuts. I don’t really care for mystery items, because there are reasons I haven’t bought some of the premuim buildings they are offering and the risk of getting them is pretty big….With that being said I bought 2 deals, but only because I was planning on buying the storefront and truckload today. It turned out to be a deal for me because with the 1152 donuts + Mount Carlmore 120 donuts + Lard Lad Donuts 110 donuts ( I didn’t have either of these in my town) I basically got 182 donuts for free. If I wasn’t planning on spending the money anyways, I might of bought one, but this wasn’t the donut Gil deal I was expecting.
I did a hard quit and restated my device and that worked. Now they are in store. Thanks Alissa.
Question about buying donuts for multiple accounts.
If I buy donuts, it goes to whatever EA/Origin Tapped Out account that I am currently logged in with?
Yes, the account you hit buy from.
I got Gil, but the offer is not in my store. I tried it on two devices (iPad and iPhone) both come up empty. 🙁
I did a hard quit and restated my device and that worked. Now the offer is in my store. Thanks Alissa.
Great! 🙂
I was really worried that the buildings in the offer were exclusive to this deal. 35$ is WAY too steep for me. But,yay! I have them all!
So now I can save my money for the (insert other game name here)’s event (something with comics and cons). What can I say, I NEEEEED Patrick Stewart and Felicia Day in my (unnamed other game town). NEEEEEEEEED.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Meh I’ll pass.
Not taking the bait from gill, I like when the premium items are discounted, not the premium currency.
Is there an % odds to which one you’re likely to get or will it be completely random?
There are odds for each one. Working on getting you guys the break downs. EA’s odds are weird in the files and I want to have my numbers double checked by our resident Bunny before I post them 😉
In other words, will I get stuff I don’t have before the game gives me stuff I do have?
No. They all have the same chance of hitting your game. So you have the same chance to get something you don’t have, as you do to get something you do have.
So let me get this straight,..
I don’t have all the premium buildings, so if I buy the deal, am I guaranteed an item I don’t have?
Or is there a chance I might end up with another Ferris wheel, Lard Lad or Try N Save, none of which I want?
Hi Alissa, long time no talk. Hope u r having a good Monday, storming like crazy so keep loosing power & internet ARGHHHH!
I bought the Gil special, donuts were credited but no free mystery box. Will email EA while I have connection, but wanted to let u know as we’ll, (plus was missing everyone at addicts 😉
Aww we were missing you too! Glad it wasn’t something I said 😉
I have only good feelings and gratitude for the three of you(shhhhhh u r my favorite, but we wouldn’t want Bunny to jump in a rabbit hole or Wookie to loose fur)! All of you help us sooo much and I truly appreciate all u do for us! Hope everyone out there has a great week. I’m wondering if I need to build a ark with all the rain, not to mention wicked lightening and high winds! Hoping funnel clouds stay away, so if I miss tapping so sorry neighbors loosing power a lot last few days and more coming!
WOO-HOO! I’m someone’s favorite! 😉
Glad to have you pop in..and stay dry!
I want some doughnuts so this discount is better then nothing I guess……but MountCarlmore too much of a risk I would win that one.
I’m torn with it. I like the discounted donut pricing, but for me, it’s just the buildings. I have every single mystery box building, so I’d just get stuck with another lard Lad (already have 2) or Ferris Wheel (also already have 2). So for players like me…it’s kind of a bust.
Newer players it’s a great deal tho, if they’re thinking about spending some dough in the game 🙂
OK the gil deal…….help me out I am not sure its so good a deal as I spend £24.99 on 576:doughnuts….if I buy them the usual way I would get 588 for £24.99.
The gift is worth 110/120 doughnuts equal to £4.56/ £4.98 but I get 12 extra doughnuts which cost £2.99. If I just buy them.
So its 12 doughnuts vs a duplicate item Ferris wheel lard lad doughnuts or Mount Carl more which I don’t want have no room for and it looks silly. OK forget the last reason.
What so I do?
A. Buy the deal you will grow to love mount Carl more)
B. Buy the doughnuts (tempted by the krustylanditems )
C. Buy enough doughnuts for what you want just now there is no real discount
Any advice welcome except for its up to me to decide I know that I won’t complain if you give me bum advice.
Now where did I bury my debit card?
The deal isn’t that bad. We have seen better with the Xmas ones, but this one is decent for those not wanting to invest at the higher tiers. Take a look at the comment from Ken B. on this same post. He broke it down pretty much as me or Alissa would. 😉
I’ve read Kens comments and wouldn’t disagree, I worked out what I could buy for £25 combing the batches of doughnuts and for got to mention the tray of doughnuts are discounted too.
Still same dilemma as the only one I haven’t got is Mount Carl more
You have an equal chance of landing on each building…but because you’re only without Carlmore your odds of getting Lard Lad or the Ferris Wheel are higher, since there’s more spots for them.
But…of course if you have my luck you’ll end up on Carlmore lol
Haha.. Too true! That would be horrid. I have enough crap to find room for as is 🙂
I bought the box, got Aztek. It worked for me because I seriously was forcing myself not to buy 900 donuts over the weekend and probably would have gave in today anyway. I also only had the Duff Stadium, the Fireworks building, and Try-n-Save, so had a great chance of getting something I wanted.
Yes, the odds are in your favor with this one 🙂
Bought a second box, got Lard Lad which I wanted (already had a spot saved across the street from the Police station) but that means I must have landed on the Fireworks since its the only one I own in that group. I’m happy. I spent $70, got two buildings I was going to buy soon anyway, and have almost 1200 donuts to use for Halloween. (I started right after Halloween last year) Now I just have to resist the urge to spend more cash or donuts.
lol
Must…resist…urge…
You know this would be a definite buy for me if you could collect 2 donuts from the dumpster every 24hrs. That. Would. Be. Awesome.
That would be awesome
It gets my vote!
It’s not in my donut menu and I am through the dialogue!!
Try hard closing and restarting your device. That should trigger it.
What I would enjoy would be an ingame deal that you could buy with 5 million dollars or donuts instead of actual money.
That’d be nice too…would never happen. But would be nice 🙂
Do you happen to know the odds for the Gil mystery box? I received lard lads Even though I do not have several of the offered buildings. The randomizer must have landed on a building I did have so I got Lard lads instead. Which is fine because I didn’t have it yet, However before trying again, I would like to know the odds of me getting another lard lad instead of a building I do not have.
I’m working on converting them from the files now…sometimes EA’s weird with their odds in the files. So I just want to make sure I’ve got them right before I post them and confused everyone 😉
Well There was news about something in September soooo…
BRING IN THE BANNANNAS, MOUNTAIN EXPANSION And MONORAIL!!!!!
lol hopefully it’s sooner than the September update….this lull is getting old for me. Only so many times I can resdesign my Springfield 😉
an premium box, and that for only €30.
To bad my game always freezes when I boot it. So for the moment I won’t spend any money for Tapped Out.
Fun fact, the suggestion from EA support is that I share my account with a friend to see if he has it too on his or her device. Sadly I don’t have friends who play Tapped out…
aw that’s the worst! 🙁 Hopefully it gets fixed soon!
Just have to find someone from The neigberhood with a tapped out game to log in and test it…
Shouldn’t be too difficult 😉
It shouldn’t but I don’t have friends who play tapped out. Or I have to send my password to somebody from my origin list.
That I wouldn’t do. I’d see if you have a friend who can download the game for you on their device and try it out. That might be the best bet for you, they don’t necessarily have to play TSTO, they can still help you 🙂
They only need a orgin account. But I figure something out in. In The meantime I keep on tapping 😄 and hitting retry 😛
Thanks for the info, Alissa! What an odd deal. There is only one of these mystery items I don’t already have. Am I correct to assume that the deal won’t take into account which items you already have? In other words, is the mystery item randomly generated (or generated using weighted probabilities like those stupid wheels) regardless of what you already own, or does the game see which of these items you already own and give you one that you don’t have yet? Sadly, I’m pretty sure I know the answer to this question, but I thought I would ask just in case. I am happy for people who rarely buy donuts (semi-freemium players?) who might be able to scoop up a building they wouldn’t have otherwise and a decent chunk of donuts at roughly 4.8 to 5.5 cents a donut (depending on what is in the mystery box) for under $40. However, I’m a bit perplexed about why EA wouldn’t want to do something kind of nice for those of us who purchase donuts more frequently. I guess they think we will keep buying donuts no matter what. It’s not at all unusual for companies to reward their “heavy buyers,” though. Adding a discount to the boatload and store full would have been a nice gesture. Not EA’s forte I suppose.
Yup, it won’t take into account what you already own. Every prize is up for grabs (or it’s alternate).
And yes, I would have greatly appreciated a boatload discount!
I was missing the deal, but once I restarted my device it appeared first thing in my menu. However, i dont find it a tempting deal, if they had been limited time reofferings i would have considered it. I want the Fort Sensible, or the Falls..maybe the cute little sushi bar? Oh well, i am looking forward to Halloween….I am NOT a big fan of the FG game.. So hopefull springfeild continues to florish!!
I’m really hoping something big is in the works before Halloween. Hopefully this is the prelude to something bigger in Springfield 🙂
With this running through next Tuesday, probably no update this week then…
You never know…something could still hit on the usual update day. Especially since Level 43 was so short.
Maybe it’s just ‘cuz I’m still a relative newbie, but I thought this deal was OK! Works out to like a 5-10% discount on donuts in a new middle-range spending option, plus a free premium building! and no chance of fences, even!
(… Ok maybe the fences comment was just a liiittle cynical… muwahaha…)
It’s not a bad deal at all, especially if you’re a newbie. For me, it’s just the buildings. I have every single mystery box building, so I’d just get stuck with another lard Lad (already have 2) or Ferris Wheel (also already have 2). So for players like me…it’s kind of a bust.
Newer players it’s a great deal tho, if they’re thinking about spending some dough in the game 🙂
Yah, I didn’t have any of the buildings although I coveted them all, haha! So this was a great chance to snag one. Can see how this and the Yard Sale back to back is pretty boring for long-time player tho! :-/
I’m happy with this deal I hope the dumpster size stays obviously minus the free mystery gift offer. Its £24.99 here in the UK which is roughly what I would happily pay every month.
Having a free item is a good bonus for now, I got the ferris wheel which I didn’t have as yet, might have to buy another dumpster before the 7 days is over 🙂
Lol it’s a great deal, if you need buildings. For me, I have every single mystery box building, so I’d just get stuck with another lard Lad (already have 2) or Ferris Wheel (also already have 2). So for players like me…it’s kind of a bust.
But i do like the dumpster size…and hope it stays 🙂
I haven’t done too much of the math, but I don’t have a single one of those buildings, not even the alternates and I love them all. Seems to me that in my case, if I was going to purchase donuts anyway, this is a pretty sweet deal, if you only want to spend $35. Otherwise, mathematically, the regular $99.99 deal still nets you more sprinklies.
It’s a GREAT deal if you don’t have any of the buildings. The downside for me (and players like me) is I already have them all, so I’d end up with Lard Lads or the Ferris Wheel & I already have 2 of each lol
