Here we are again. Back with some more fun information on this silly lil Event going on in our lil Springfield towns. Who have thought that the calm before the storm would bring such a completely different way of gaming than we were used to.
So on to what you came here for. Defending your town.
How does it all work? What is with the shields? Why should we Defend our town? Let’s hop on in and break it all down.
How do I Defend my town?
There are a couple of ways you can Defend. The main way is pretty simple. You just locate any building in your town that has a shield over it. This means that building is under Attack by a Neighbor or Random Invader. To Defend, just tap on the shield. It is really that simple. A funny lil dialog will rise up once you Defend it with the Attackers name in it.
“______________ will have their Revenge.”
“______________ made us do it.”
“We die for the ______________ Empire.”
The secondary way is to use the “Cheaters”, or for us old school gamers…the 20 sided die. More info on that coming in a separate post.
What do I get for Defending my town?
By Defending a building, you and the Attacker will receive an instant payout. As you can see, the payout on this one is the same regardless if the Attacker was a known Neighbor or a Random Invader.
| Location Defended | Elixr Payout | Gold Payout |
| Neighbor Castle Defended | 20 | 10 |
| Neighbor Castle Lost (Not Defended) | 10 | 5 |
| Neighbor Building Defended | 20 | 10 |
| Neighbor Building Lost (Not Defended) | 10 | 5 |
| Location Defended | Elixr Payout | Gold Payout |
| Random Player Castle Defended | 20 | 10 |
| Random Player Castle Lost (Not Defended) | 10 | 5 |
| Random Player Building Defended | 20 | 10 |
| Random Player Building Lost (Not Defeated) | 10 | 5 |
As you can see, these payouts are quite lower than if you Attack and win. My suggestion is outside of the requirement for the questline, allow your building to be destroyed. By doing so you are giving your Neighbor MORE Elixr and Gold and in return, if your Neighbor does the same, you will receive similar payout for them not Defending you and allowing theirs to be destroyed. In the end, it is up to you of course.
Additional note: This is not really possible for Defending a Castle as you need those Nerds and they generate every 2 hours. So NOT tapping the Shield on the Castles will be hard. If it is already destroyed, that does not matter. Once repaired any Nerd production completed will instantly come back.
Can I up my Defense for my town?
Yes. As you are leveling up your Castle, you can earn a higher Defense for your town. This means it will take a lot longer for a player to be able to destroy a building they attacked. Essentially giving you time to Defend it.
Castle Destroy times start at 12 Hrs and can be lowered with the amount of Nerds used to Attack to 4 Hrs MAX.

House Destroy times start at 10 Hrs and can be lowered with the amount of Nerds used to Attack to 1 Hrs MAX.
As your Castle Levels Up to certain points, 1 Hr will be added to the total time it will take to Destroy an attacked location. (The lowest time will always remain at 4 hrs for Castles and 1 hr for Houses.)
Level 5: Higher Defense + 1 Hour
Level 11: Higher Defense + 1 Hour
Level 14: Higher Defense + 1 Hour
Level 17: Higher Defense + 1 Hour
Level 20: Higher Defense + 1 Hour
Again, you have 3 Castles you can build total. Barbarian, Recycled, and Boxingham. So as each one hits these levels, they will add an extra hour to your destroy times. This means all 3 Castles at Level 20 will make it take an extra 15 hours to destroy a location. So a Castle could take up to 27 hrs to destroy and a House could take 25 hrs.
In short, it all is up to you on whether or not you want to use the Defend options available to you. Leveling up will help you to have a lil more time to decide whether or not to tap that Shield icon.
Did this help you to understand Defending a lil better? Any other questions we can help with? Any other suggestions? Let us know.

I seem to get small odd payouts when i defend my castles, just 2 or 3 elixirs. I notice that the nerds i have sent out are bringing back similarly small 2 or 3 elixirs. Did EA change its pay out rules as the game progressed?
According to another tapper they spoke with EA who said the decreased payouts are a “known problem” and it “will be fixed soon”. On the plus side, they got some elixir for reporting it so make sure you let EA know also.
http://tstoaddicts.com/2014/01/14/troubleshooting-101-contacting-ea/
thanks, I have contacted EA and await their answer. It is more wide spread than I realized. I get 2 or 3 elixirs for defending my castles and only 10 for defending my houses. My nerds bring home such a small amount, like 6 or 12 points at a time–they only attack random castles! I am really enjoying this event and I WAS making really good progress–I hope I can get back on track. It is easier to earn points early on while everyone was just getting started, I hope I can catch up.
Thanks for the advice and the great blog!!
YW… I hope you get a fix soon.
I am having the same problem, I am only getting half the Elixir and Gold payout defending my town. Defending my castles give 10 Elixir / 5 Gold and defending houses give 5 Elixir / 2 Gold
1-ScottO
Many reporting this. Not sure what is going on. All I can suggest is to contact EA.
Ok, I’m only getting 10 elixir/5 gold for defending and 5 elixir/2 gold for tapping on destryed homes. That’s not right, right?
It depends on the Attack. There is a 5/1 payout for losing an attack on a building.
http://tstoaddicts.com/2014/08/20/attack-run-away/
I noticed today that when I defend my buildings I no longer get 20 elixirs and 10 gold coins. Now it’s cut in half. Does anyone else have this problem?
There are differences in them.
http://tstoaddicts.com/2014/08/20/attack-run-away/
I get that, but I’m talking about defending my castles and buildings. When I defended successfully I used to get 20 elixer and 10 gold. Now I only get 10 elixer and 5 gold. It looks like blue above is having the same problem. Thanks for your help.
I had most of my houses covered in shields (if I am correct that means I was being attacked) I wanted to let destroy my houses but as soon as I collected my nerds at my castles all the shields disappeared. Did I miss something? I got no elixir or coins and I didnt level up. Kinda baffled. This has now happened twice.
It’s a glitch EA is working on where shield disappear. We’ve been advising every one to collect the shields when tappers see them. The big pay off in this game is from frequent neighbor visits. I personally don’t see it as being worth letting the buildings become destroyed.
If the buildings are destroyed dont the invaders get 70 elixir and 20 coins? Or your neighbors get 18 ? I just didnt realize there was a glitch when you go into krustyland. Found that out after the fact.
Ugh… math. The invader/friend does get more if it’s destroyed vs defended but you get more if you defend vs rebuild. I’ve gotten most of my gold and elixir from neighbors attacking regularly. I make sure to return the favor every day, 1 nerd per building. As for the glitch, yeah, it’s effecting some so we advice to clear shields right when you see them before doing anything else.
It keeps telling me to add walls or towers but the items are still locked it keeps saying ‘upgrade’ but to complete my ‘task’ I need to get the walls and towers.. What’s up with it?
The tasks trigger prior to them being unlocked. No worries, once you Level up and unlock them…you will be able to place them and complete the tasks.
So, based on what Im reading here, it is desirable to let your attacker win, in hopes that they will return the favor and earn the higher payout. But on a few occasions when I see the shield appear on a castle or building, I have not tapped it to defend my building. Later, when I return to the game to see if my building has been demolished, it is back to normal. And I can;t even tap the shield to earn the points for defending. Has anyone else experience this? Or am I doing something wrong? Any assistance is appreciated as I feel my gold collection has slowed down to a trickle. Thanks fellow tappers!
It seems there is a major glitch hitting with the Shields. I suggest in the meantime to clear ALL Shields off your buildings. Also, contact EA. Losing Elixr is not a good thing.
What livimum said. Not to mention 99% of people who say they dont defend are liars. I added a bunch of people from a thread (not from here) of non defenders on my second springfield which I use for just personal friends…and not one random of the 12 added has not not defended.
I prefer just attacking with 1 nerd on 5 castles and letting them defend and hope they do vice versa.

I would assume its the shield glitch rather then people lieing. I tried to let my 50+houses be destroyed only to get nothing. I am frustrated and not sure what to do. I posted in the ea forum.
Probably. For now, it’s best to just collect shields right when you see them. I lost some at the beginning so totally feel the pain.
I was wondering if it is ok too tap the cash icons on my buildings? In other words: Does there have too be a cash icon above my houses for an invader to able too attack, or can just keep cashing them in?
I want for as much buildings to be attackable (is that a word? now it is!), but I’m also saving for the last three pieces of land.
You can clear the buildings if you’d like. That will not impact attacks. It will only impact if your neighbors want to also use the standard 3 taps for neighbor visiting. They have both options now.
The buildings that can be attacked can’t be visited though so you can clear the dollar signs from the houses, there will be no handshakes over them. When you visit neighbors you won’t see dollars signs over the Brown houses and so on, just the stores and other things, such as the houses that can’t be attacked.
Actually you are incorrect. If a neighbor attacks all the buildings first, then a second neighbor comes back and attacks other buildings…the first ones attacked will show dollar signs, menus, etc if you have not cleared the money. So…once YOU clear the shield from the attack….there will be a handshake waiting underneath. So it all depends on how your neighbors visit you. I leave money on my buildings and have handshakes under the shields all the time.
Cool. Learn something new 🙂
Every time I see houses it seems like they either have swords or are smouldering, but most of my attacks are random. I’ll pay more attention when I visit neighbors again tomorrow.
If you don’t defend your buildings then you will soon run out of available buildings for people to attack.
I used cheaters 20 to defend town multiple times and I still haven’t gotten credit for the quest. Bummer..
It’s a glitch EA is working on. Hopefully it’s fixed soon.
http://tstoaddicts.com/2014/08/21/clash-of-clones-glitch-report/
I have to say I’m rather annoyed by how complicated this all seems… I don’t think strategizing is my cup of tea… If I let people raid my houses and castles, I either lose the shields by visiting neighbors or I lose nerd production that comes to a standstill when the castle gets attacked… Who in the world has time to check in every two hours anyway to release the new nerd production to make room for more?????? Sorry, I’m trying to find a positive side here. The only thing that makes me chuckle are the multilingual notifications that I’m getting. “Un invasor” is raiding your Springfield, or “ein Eindringling” is raiding…. There was a third one but I forgot to look to see what language it was…
The foreign language ones are great… I wonder if that indicates where the invader is playing? It does seem complicated but can be broken down easy. Always click shields when you see them before doing anything else. Spend all your nerds before tapping for any more. One nerd per building. Random towns earn more but your neighbors will reciprocate so probably better to spend them there. As for checking every 2 hrs, that’s a lot of tapping. Nothing wrong with going into your town less often.
greetings….
I never thought a special event would make me long for the Stonecutter experience, but somehow EA has managed that feat. Beyond being way more confusing, this one is simply less fun. More important, at least to me, is that, as with the Stonecutters, the payoffs are so uninspiring. Everyone complained about the spinning wheels of chance in the prior events, but at lead you had a shot at winning something cool, a nifty building or store, or a new character like S. Bobbins and such. In these last 2 events, all you are winning are artifacts and skins of existing characters. Winning may be a sure thing, but if the winnings are lame, why is that a good trade-off? Am I the only one who feels this way? Just curious. Give me the spinning wheels and some cool prizes over sure-thing mediocrity any day.
Just something different. A lot of people really like the castles and are having fun with them. Stonecutters was a lot of fun. I honestly enjoy every event but am really looking forward to the return of Halloween. Those events have always been my favorites.
The only thing that is being attacked I. My town at the moment is the 3 castles at the moment. When the event first started my houses and other buildings were being attacked. Why is this happening? Is it happening to anyone else?
Are you asking why your neighbors are not attacking your houses? Trying to understand your question.
I was getting attacked frequently then all of a suddenly town getting attacked stopped. I would say my houses haven’t been attacked for more than a day… Just my castles.
I am in the same position, castles are attacked all the live long day and maybe 15 houses a day get hit.. 🙁 they are all ready and wanting to be attacked.. come on people attack – LOL .. I have been attacking random Springfields and if the castle is available I hit it, but I am hitting almost all houses and I ended up getting the hot air balloon today – so I think there is some value in not focusing on castle attacks.
I noted that if nerds training is in progress and my castle is destroyed, the timing still seems to continue. Say I am 17 mins to gather my new nerds and I come into game and saw castle destroyed. Once I repair I still see 17 mins there.
Would nerd training ceased when castle is destroyed or would it continue ?
It may put it in “limbo”. I had mine destroyed over night and once repaired, my lil Nerd icon to collect them popped back up.
What is the purpose of levelling up Homer, Lisa and Bart with gold?
The questline requires it at certain points and it increases the elixir earnings for the characters.
Ok, thanks.
Do you have table showing how much elixir you earn for each character level?
Not yet, but we’re working on it 🙂
I’d love if you guys to do a post telling us which strategies you think are best, attack and deffence.. I’m little lost about what should i do. 9 nerds to get the full prize or one per castle? Defend or let the buildings get destroyed? Being stopped on my attack will guarantee gold enough for unlock all the prizes? The posts are awesome, but i’m not a hundred percent cleared.
We actually have a strategy post planned. For now, I’ll tell you mine. In my neighbor’s towns, I send 1 nerd each to 2-3 places. These neighbors respond every day with the same. A couple friends do 5 buildings so I try to do the same. Currently earning 25 nerds every 2 hrs. When I see a shield, I tap it. I save my cheaters for the random town castles. You earn more in the random towns but there’s no guarantee they will attack you back so I stick to neighborly war. It’s working so far, I’m at about 2300 gold for two days or so of the event.
Hmm, if it wasn’t my lack of neighbors i’d follow your tips, it’s intersting. I’ll try talk to my friends who are playing to follow this, thanks!
Im with you Nohan, cuz I read that post to say if I defended my building or castle I would recieve more payout of each elixr and gold. So why wouldnt I want to defend rather then wait for it to be destroyed completely. ??? And is that the same for defending a neighbor or our own? Or just the ranndom player? Geez im quite confused hahah. But im a tappin’! =o)
Defending a random player earns more than a neighbor. You do earn more for defending vs. repairing so best to tap shields. ALso suggest tapping them right when you see them before doing anything else. Does that clear it up for you?
Well I won’t be leaving my buildings to be destroyed anymore. I just had a heap of them under attack and I tried leaving them, then I did some random attacks and also on friends and when I got back to my Springfield all my houses that were under attack were no longer under attack and the little shield icon had changed to the normal dollar sign one. Just missed out on so much gold and elixir, so from now on I will be tapping them as soon as I see them. Really annoyed
That stinks. I’ve been advising people to collect shields right when they see them. Best way to help your neighbors is to just attack them.
I too tried leaving them to destroy my houses but I also lost them when I left. I’m not going to leave any shields now. Especially when it takes so long to destroy a house with one nerd.
Defense! Defense! Defense!
Because I think that it won’t be a problem maxing out all of the prizes and what not, I have chosen to not defend my town at all.
For any of my neighbors reading this post: Now that I have read this thread I am going to try to let everything except my castles be destroyed. However, once all of my attackable buildings are under attack, I am going to need to defend a few so that other neighbors can attack. It will also take me longer to see that you have attacked and then reciprocate because I won’t see that you attacked until the building is fully destroyed. I’m trying to be a good neighbor by doing this, but if this strategy won’t accomplish that goal, please let me know. Trying to balance earning elixir and gold with maximizing my neighbors’ ability to do the same. I might have to cave and try to do the math on this one. I’m trying to chill on vacation, and running the numbers just doesn’t fit into chilling out!
Anyone else think this is way too confusing? I still don’t understand all the nuances to this new twist to the game, and reading Bunny’s post didn’t help much. You shouldn’t have to spend hours reading the different posts all over the net to get an idea of what works and what doesn’t.
I still can’t defend my town using a 20-sided die. Of course, I lose the die i attempt to use, but the task never counts the attempt, so I keep losing dice. Apparently, this is a known problem/bug, but there are no known solutions (as far as I know).
These events should be fun and relatively self-explanatory. They aren’t. These blogs prove that.
EA’s working on the solution…it’s a glitch. No quick fix for it. HOWEVER…don’t worry about clearing the task. It does not stall your progress in the event, so it’s not that critical. 🙂
As far as what’s confusing you, what specifically would you like to know?
Fair enough.
Well, for one, I have no idea where the things that I am supposed to have won are stored…. for example, with the gold coins (I assume this is the count that is used for these prizes), I am up to the Marge prize. However, I have no idea where the green Bart and Boxingham castle are. When I “won” them, it said they were in my inventory, but they aren’t. Same with the “box” and Lisa, and the 5 pack of 20-sided dice. It shows I have won them, but they are no where to be found.
Another thing that I am pissed off about is this idea that the problem with the 20-sided dice and defending my town is a known glitch. Known to who? EA has not announced to me through the game that the glitch is real, and I have spent 3 dice already on trying to figure out what. I was doing wrong. The only way I found out there was a glitch was reading this site.
I have other issues, but I will settle for the stuff I have “won”. If you or someone else can tell me where these things are, I will add some other things to my list of “WTF is going on here?”
lol I look forward to the rest of your list 🙂
So…first up, the prizes. You’ll unlock the ability to use them as you progress through the event main walkthrough. Once you reach Part 8 of the Prince and the Premise you’ll unlock the skins for homer and Barbarian (the first prize). If they’re already in your inventory they’ll auto unlock for you. For the castles…the ability to place those will happen once you complete part 9 of the main walkthrough. You’ll be prompted to place Lisa’s castle first and when that’s complete Bart will want his built as well.
They are in your inventory, at the very end, they’re just locked until you unlock them on via the questline. You won’t see the skins for Lisa and Bart listed separate from the castle. If you see the castle the skin is with that, once you build the castle the skin will unlock.
Marge’s costume will come into play after Part 17 of the main questline…you’ll start the Power of Upgrades questline. All the details for this can be found here:
http://tstoaddicts.com/2014/08/21/turbo-tappin-medieval-style-prince-the-premise-clash-of-clones-and-the-power-of-upgrades/#more-19494
As far as the glitch. When we say it’s a known glitch with EA…we just mean it’s been reported (as many players have told us they’ve reported it). EA won’t alert anyone through the game itself about a glitch (it’s not impacting everyone). However, if you go to their forums you’ll see reports of it as well.
🙂
The more I read the more confused I am becoming. I think we all should not take it so seriously and just enjoy having something to do. I am just going to keep tap, tap, tapping and hope for the best. At the end of the day I might not get all the prizes but after the event I really won’t care.
That’s a sound philosophy for this event. I’, doing the same. Helps that I don’t really care if I get all the prizes.
The more I play this update, the less I like it. Can I give back the 15 donuts and uninstall it? Puhleeze?
lol I don’t think you’re alone there..
Please send me your donuts
Sounds like a fine strategy, but at least as of yesterday, I was having an issue with not defending… my buildings weren’t getting destroyed.
Same here with me. The quest line says to repair 3 buildings. I got 1 out of 3. I leave it undefended to be destroyed so I can repair it. But after a few minutes the shields disappear and a $ icon is there instead. This happened so many times. Other than that I am enjoying this.
With the shields disappearing (EA knows about it and I’m sure is trying to fix it), I would advise clicking them as soon as you see them just to be safe. Hopefully some random invader will drop a cheater on your building. It’s the only way to guarantee destruction or maybe you can coordinate with someone on here. Appreciate you remaining positive.
Following others lead, I have now put a batch of brown houses next to my castle and will not defend these, so feel free to add me as a friend: blk3f if you want to added elixirs.
Great idea. The brown house kinda go along with theme. I will not be defending houses for neighbors to get max payout.
Ooh, Bunny! You’re an old school gamer like me. What games do you play? Do you have a group you play with regularly? Mine has just fallen apart due to some people moving away 🙁
Are you enjoying the DnD theme for this update? I love zapping stuff with Wizard Marge, haha 😀
I used to. We all are getting “old” and real world not allowing much time for play. Lol. We still try to get together once a month or so and play SOMETHING. We play all sorts. A mix from card to board games, toss in some console games here n there, or hang out at the local Pub Quiz for some laughs.
I am giggling so hard at this update. So much fun for me. 😉
Anyone know what happens if a house gets destroyed while a character is in it? For example, if I send Otto to Squat in the Brown House, and that brown house is destroyed before the 24 hours are up, does that task just get undone?
Ok so I just tried this (it’s been a busy day…sorry it took so long!). If your building is destroyed with a character in it the character remains inside (timer still runs). You rebuild and they’re still inside…
At this point I am a little frustrated with the new event. I went in this morning and had shields over most of my houses and my castle. Last night I evidently didn’t send enough nerds out to pillage cause I was going to have more than 40 when I tapped on my castle. So rather than lose valuable nerds I went into other Springfields and attacked. When I got back to my Springfield all the shields were gone and my gold/elixir count did not appear to increase. Did I miss something here?
There’s a glitch with shields disappearing. From now on, I’d just click them right when you see them before doing anything else.
I am hearing of others having a glitch with them going when they journey to Krustyland, but not neighbors. My suggestion is if that is happening, you have no choice but to clear them all so you don’t lose them. Also, open a ticket with EA right away.
So… if I get 18 E + 8 G per house won in 9 hours minimum, and 20 E + 10 G per house defended immediately… is it not best that everybody focus in defence?
The only that gives more is the castle, but unless they attack you while you sleep, or with 10+ nerds, you have to tap your castle every 2 hours, so is unlikely they win…
And so your neighbours win more by defending from you than actually attacking your houses. None of this applies to invaders.
Getting kinda of aggravated now… I’m up to the extreme make over.catle mission and I have 7/10 castle decorations…… but when I go to buy more wall it says locked and it has to check mark for 100 elixirs…. does anyone now what’s going on?
They won’t become available to purchase until you’ve reached Level 10 on your castle. At that point you can purchase them in the store, before that you can only earn them through leveling up.
And again, another event I can’t participate in. New update and now I get thrown out when trying to visit another Springfield. This is the VD update all over again……that took them 4 months to fix! So all I can do is be attacked! I will let my houses be destroyed by anyone who attacks me, if that will lure you to my town, as it is the only way I will earn anything.
🙁 The good news is you earn more via being attacked then attacking…
Don’t know if anyone else has had this happen but I have twice… I log in & have several houses with defend shields. I leave them so there is max payout & go about clearing KL & going to attacks. When I come back all shields have disappeared without clearing & buildings are intact. I have opened a ticket with EA & will update here. Just an FYI 🙂
It’s a known glitch when you go into Krustyland… 🙂
http://tstoaddicts.com/2014/08/21/clash-of-clones-glitch-report/
And as long as that glitch is there, leaving stuff to be destroyed means not going to KL. No Side-Show-You? No work on KL for a month? No! And that just the beginning of why I think the strategy to leave houses undefended is not going to work.
Allissa,
It seems that you are an EA employee, or at least have access to EA news… There are too many “bugs” on this game, don’t you think? Why aren’t these games tested fully before deploying them? There was no deadline to release this event. This wasn’t based on a holiday. It is buggy, people are getting irritated, and hearing that every issue “is a bug and EA knows about it.” doesn’t exactly make me happy.
Why do these events have to be so confusing? And better yet, why can’t someone write instructions to play the event that don’t require thousands of people all over the net guessing as they go and sharing what does and doesn’t work on blogs?
I can assure you I don’t work for EA…if that was the case I wouldn’t write for a blog based off of a TinyCo game as well.
There are a lot of bugs, but that’s the case with any game. It never works perfect for everyone, there are so many variables for each player it’d be difficult to replicate EVERY situation (ie different devices, different data connections etc), so that causes some bugs. I can tell you MANY players play the game (and this event) with out experiencing any glitches.
They have help guides on their forums and if you visit EA.com you’ll see. Honestly the way we get our information comes from playing the game itself. At first it seems confusing, but as we move through it we figure it out and gladly share what we find with our readers 🙂
I have levelled my castle up to 9. I only gave 2 walls. I have seen that there are walls available to me but there are non in my inventory and I am locked out in the other area. Is there a glitch?
If they’re not in your inventory, and you’ve gotten them from leveling up, it’s most likely a glitch. (you’ll unlock them for purchase in the store once the castle reaches Level 10)
