Update 7pm EDT: If you’re just downloading both the App Store update and the Easter Update at the same time the Easter update will start up first. However, get past the initial dialogue with Ned & Homer first and then get past the Gil Dialogue and the Mystery Box questline should start up. However, now Mr. Burns MUST be free to trigger it. It will no longer auto start. So make sure Mr. B is free and you should see the ! to start it.
Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!
The Superheros Takedown is finally in our app stores…a day late but still a welcomed sign! This download will remove the event from our games (however the Beach House, Bart Cave & Rad Station Air Fortress will remain, until they expire in about a week, 4/7).
Note: So far this is only live on iOS. Will update when it hits others Update is now available on all platforms
So be sure to head over to your app store and download the removal….
There is one new change to the game…a refurbished Mystery Box! Back with more details on this in a bit (just have to verify)…
In the meantime remember to reset your Confirm Donut Spend Button once you’ve downloaded the newest version AND be sure to go into your App Settings and turn off notifications again (if you want them off). Mine were off, but then Homer said he better put on pants so I knew they needed to go back off (not ideal chatter for the workplace 😉 )
So now let’s get to those new details…
When you first start up TSTO after the takedown has been downloaded from the App Store you’ll see some dialogue popup between Mr. Burns & Smithers…
Mr. Burns: Mystery box sales are down again this month! How could something that once topped the charts every week fall so far out of favor with the public?
Smithers: Actually sir, that’s to be expected. People experienced the mystery box, they enjoyed it for a while, and now they’ve moved on. Perhaps we could come up with something else to sell them — something new and original!
Mr. Burns: Yes yes, we’ll get to that. But first we have to do everything we can to keep them interested in spending money on the old thing!
Smithers: Really, sir? Wouldn’t it make more sense just to appreciate the mystery box for what it was and just remove it from the store? Let it die with dignity?
Mr. Burns: Die? With dignity? I intend to do neither of those things. And the mystery box won’t either! Change the interface! Offer a promotion! Rebalance the economy! Inspire nostalgia! We need to try anything and everything we can to keep it afloat!
Smithers: I suppose we could offer a new set of prizes for the mystery box.
Mr. Burns: That’s a start… but I was hoping for something more superficial.
Smithers: A new icon?
Mr. Burns: Excellent.
Yes it’s a whole new look and feel to the Mystery Box…
And the first one is free….
The box will regularly cost 6 donuts:

And here’s a look at the new prizes they’ve added to the box:
First, some old items are still there. The Lemon Tree is still there (as it’s the only way to get it!), Squeaky Voice Teen is still there, as are the options to get 10 and 30 donuts, Lard Lad Donuts is still there and of course the Tire Fire remains a Mystery Box prize.
But now here’s what they’ve added….
Blue Haired Lawyer (worth 90 donuts)
Kearney (worth 60 donuts)
Channel 6 News Van (worth 40 donuts)
Itchy & Scratchy Billboard (worth 40 Donuts)
Chalmer’s 1979 _ONDA (Worth $9,800)
Bomb Shelter (worth $5,600)
Minnow Pond (worth $4,500)
Khlav Kalash Stand (worth $760)
A note of warning….remember a lot of the items are unique. So if you already have BHL, Kearney, the Tire Fire or SVT you’re more likely to get one of the other prizes. So be prepared for a Minnow Pond, Stand or something else.
And just for a bit of reference…in my D game, where I’m at a low level (Level 11) and have nothing my first box awarded me 10 Donuts.
In my A game, where I’m at Level 50 and have at least 1 of Everything in the Box already my first box awarded me 30 donuts.
Now there are a few other changes as well..
First, you can now store the Radioactive Man Statue. So if you’re sick of looking at it you can now tuck it away in storage! (and I checked, so far nothing from Superheros can go in Krustyland)
Another new change is purchasing in game cash! I know something we encourage you to NEVER do. It’s not wise to spend donuts on in game currency. Not when donuts are so hard to get (or you spend real cash on them) and in game currency is fairly easy to obtain (in comparison). Nevertheless there are still some changes to purchasing in-game currency with donuts. So let’s go over those now…
First it’s important to note that the higher the level you are the more cash you’ll get for your donuts. Here’s the breakout at Level 50:
– $11,750 will cost you 9 Donuts
– $58,750 will cost you 30 Donuts
– $141,000 will cost you 65 Donuts
-$235,000 will cost you 100 donuts
– $705,000 will cost you 285 Donuts
– $1,410,000 will cost you 550 Donuts
$2,820,000 will cost you 1,000 Donuts
Again this will vary depending on your level. The above numbers reflect it if you’re on Level 50. As you increase your level over level 9 you’ll start to increase the payout for each one. I’m not going to get into to much detail with this because we honestly do not encourage you to do this in your games. Do not spend donuts for in game cash…it’s just not worth it (at any level).
House Farm Changes (and General Price Changes)
There are also rumors floating around about EA limiting House Farmers. For those of you that don’t know, House Farmers are people who have areas of there towns that are covered in houses. It’s a way to earn more income or a way to make sure your neighbors always have something to tap. Not sure about EA limiting the number of houses you can build, as I’m not a house farmer. But I can tell you they have increased the pricing of houses.
Just as an example the Brown House…
In my game it now costs $1100 for 1 Brown House. Originally it was only $355. It looks like the more you have the higher the pricing. Here’s some examples from my game (and again i don’t house farm, I do have several of each type of house as part of my residential areas)
Again these are examples from my game. Your pricing may differ…the original price however is what the house cost prior to the update.
Purple House- Originally $1100, now $2750 (I have 4)
Blue House- Originally $1800, now $5,000 (I have 4 in my game & 1 in inventory)
Pink House- Originally $3400, now $4,800 (I have 2)
White House- Originally $7,700, now $16,500 (I have 6)
Orange House- Originally $24,500, now $28,000 (I have 1 in inventory)
And I currently have 5 (+2 in inventory) Brown Houses
So it looks like the more you have of a certain house the higher the price goes. There’s also a notion that if you have a certain number of 1 type of house it will cap you and prevent you from buying more. I tried this in my D game…i was able to continue building Brown Houses well into the 30s. However…the pricing did cap on the Brown House once I built 25 homes. And the cap was $17,300.
So I think it’s safe to say…yes they’ve added some higher pricing elements to the game, but no there’s no cap on the number of houses you can build. There is however a cap on the pricing increase. And it looks like around 25 of the same house built the pricing will stabilize and no longer increase.
Hopefully that housing info makes sense, I’ll try to get more details and play around with the caps when I can.
For now that’s in on the new info for this Takedown update! Enjoy your free Mystery Box and I hope you all get loads of premium goodies! 🙂
What do you think of the Mystery Box? What item did you win with the free one? Thoughts on the new housing price scale? How about the ability to store the Radioactive Man Statue, have you stored it already? Will you be using donuts to buy cash? Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

I think the blue house price caps at $216,000. I only have 53, but others are saying it’s also costing them $216,000. I hope this gets reverted or reduced slightly, as such an inflation isn’t very realistic.
I got a couple of Khlav Kalash Stands, but after a couple of tries, I got 20 free donuts, bought two more boxes with those and ended up getting Lard Lad Donuts (which I’ve been holding off on buying and Blue Haired Lawyer!
I got the Tire Fire in mine. I excitedly made my wife open her game up to get her free box. She got a bomb shelter 🙁 Trying to decide if it is worth the donuts for another chance.
Blue Haired Lawyer! love these new prizes but are we still going to get parking spaces and hedges? you know I really need ANOTHER parking space, I just didn’t get enough from the previous mystery box.
Ok i have got bhl in mystery box and have looked at his quest line he hasnt started any quest in my town homer and him free stored and replaced him must be because he was free in the box?
Questline should still pop. It could be that there’s too much other stuff going on in the game so it’s just not triggering yet.
Only have the easter line going is it definitely homer needs to be free for bhl to start quest?
Yup Homer.
http://tstoaddicts.com/2014/01/17/turbo-tappin-premium-the-blue-haired-lawyer/
I also get BHL, and Lisa is the one that starts his questline. maybe you guys need to change that in your walkthrough
That’s the way the questline was when it first hit. Hard to change what was there over a year ago. However, originally there was a short teaser quest that popped up so it’s probably skipping past the teaser quest
I got the Blue-Haired Lawyer!!!
…my wife on the other hand, got the news van…
Looks like the house price change works both ways. I went to sell off some of my blue house suburb to make room (I didn’t think of it as a farm since there were streets and trees and a small playground…more of a subdivision.) Anyway, since the price to buy a blue house is now $216,000 (!) for me, I could sell my excess at $54,000 a piece. Nice little appreciation there from the original $1,800 purchase price.
Yea it’s an even better way to earn $ over the house farm lol
I was happy to see that the Lard Lads I won today had the Christmas wreath skin included.
They certainly are trying to crack down on house farms. I have one with 264 blue houses and it would cost me $216,000 to buy one more. Not that i need anymore lol. It has served its purpose and allowed me to get sit and rotate and fortress of choclitude. Now i might get rid of the house farm and try to redesign my town. Then again i may keep it and go for the krusty burger oil rig.
Loving the mystery boxes. I won a second lard lad on the freebie then tried my luck on two more and got kearney and the billboard.
lol if you sell them though you’ll get a TON of cash. And then you won’t need it 😉
I keep a healthy stack of gamecash. maybe, maybe EA will bring out some apperational building, like The Largest Toilet.
(Yes, I now you don’t like rumours)
lol I want that darn toilet!
What do you think the reason is? Space hogging on their servers? Or forcing people to grind forever for cash? Interesting that they also started offering cash for donuts. Is this first step towards raising in game cash prices steeply to try to get more impatient folks to pay donuts.? Or because 2 yr plus players claim boredom and say cash is worthless? Very interesting. Hope it is not the end of a fun game to play for free (I have one free town and another I pay lots for but enjoy the different challenges and relative ease of the game. Won’t be fun if it takes a month to get through a new level. I like the ebb and flow currently).
It’s probably a combination of all of those. I think the crashing and space is the biggest issue..
Interesting how people phrase it “cracking down on house farms”. I’m thinking ea could care less if you house farm, so there’s probably some real live reason. This kind of stuff fascinates me. Maybe if crashing gets really bad, instead of selling for Huge amount of money, we can sell brown houses back to EA for donuts. Price to be determined on the open market depending on game space supply and demand. 🙂
Also house farmers beware: The price is incremental! To buy myself a Purple house will cost me 43,500. To buy me a blue house will cost me 216,000 and a white house 192,000! The ones I have more of, cost a lot more. Shame I sold a whole bunch. But I still have a LOT in storage (I hope). I might be able to sell them for a LOT more than I paid lol. But probably not.
Oh you can totally sell them for way more than you paid…
The Radioactive Man monument now has a payout! I think that came in when the update restoring purchases came in.
Glad I already have a house farm
I have 2 accounts and it only updated on one I play one on my phone the other on my tablet the phone did not update. I got the blue haired lawyer . Had a strange blip on my game earlier before I knew about the update I sent all my characters on 24hr tasks . I sent Marge for a magical night with Homer that should tie him up. A random task popped up send homer to play on his mypad and I did somehow Marge is having a magical night on her own.
You should consider changing the title of this thread because when I first saw it I was thinking that they were continuing with the Superhero event but adding some new features to it. 🙂
I got an easter pond with the free one, came here and read a lot of people were getting BHL. Went back in and bought one and BAM! BHL. 6 donuts for a 90 donut character? Yes please! Thanks EA!
Wooooo I got Kearney with me free box!!
I got 30 donuts! Woo hoo! I might get the Blocko store…
Soooo I got a few more, and got the Blue Haired Lawyer, Kearney, a few KK stands and a few bombs shelters…I quit after that, and I spent all the donuts I won haha
First box gave me Chalmers onda which I sold right away, second gave me a minnow pond, sold that as well, came back to read comments and saw how everybody was getting the good stuff so I tried one more time and got the blue haired lawyer. Whoo hoo.
Out of my five mystery boxes that I got, I recieved:
1. Squeaky Voiced Teen
2. Blue-Haired Lawyer
3. Minnow Pond
4. Itchy and Scratchy Billboard
5. Kearney
Should I try to win Lard Lad and Channel 6, or quit while I’m ahead?
I am a strictly freemium player with 62 donuts. What is you guys’ input?
I’d quit while you’re ahead. You’ll still get a free one as the daily reward on the 5th day
Absolutely Love the Mystery Box!! Was afraid to buy more because of duplicate prizes, Thanks for clearing that up for me. When will the lemon tree steal be back in play? Am missing it terribly. HeeHee
Probably never at this point. Hasn’t been in play since 2012…so I don’t think they’ll bring it back at this point.
My friend and I have both won the Lemon Tree is each mystery box. If that’s what you’re talking about of course 😛
wooo wooo i have never bough a mystery box before but i could not resist! I am a freemium player with 222 donuts so i was apprehensive on spending my hard earning donuts. BUT, i got: 30 donuts, 2 x news vans, 1 x itchy and scratchy billboard, 1 x lardlad, Kearny, Blue-haired lawyer and Tire fire. LONG LIVE THE BOX
Hhmm got the Easter update and just bought johnny fiestas but still haven’t got the mystery box dialogue. Hoping I haven’t missed it
Mr. Burns needs to be free for that to trigger
I have a house farm of aprox 400 blue houses and the price to by a new one is now $216000.
I had BHL first, then bomb shelter. Thought it was a lucky fluke, so decided to check on here to see if it had happened to anyone else! Glad I did, as I carried on buying boxes and got 2 more shelters, 3 ponds, 2 channel six vans (one is outside zenith city times to report on our heros!) I&S billboard, Kearny, tyre fire and 40 donuts (not in that order!) So glad I read this post, as these are item that I’ve wanted for a while, but couldn’t justify spending donuts…. I guess Barney will have to wait a bit longer…….
Looks like I was incredibly lucky… Got the Itchy and Scratchy billboard in my free Mystery Box, bought another for S&G’s and found the Blue Haired Lawyer inside.
Bought a second one, got the news van. Bought a third, and got Lard Lad Donuts.
…I feel a sudden urge to buy a real lottery ticket now.
You know that EA always stacks the odd?
I got the blue haired lawyer in my box!!! For once luck was on my side haha
Before I logged in for the first time today, I had a notice in my update store, so I grabbed that first. When I logged in, I immediately got the Easter dialogue. I never got the above conversation between Burns/Smithers about the Mystery Box. So…
1) **THANKS** for writing it down so I could still enjoy their chatting and not miss that, at least. (“Die? With dignity? I intend to do neither of those things.” – Brilliant! lol)
2) So I didn’t get any kind of prompt for a free Mystery Box. And when I see the Box in the store, it wants to charge me 6 donuts. Addicts, in your opinion, do you think this is a bug (ie should I open a ticket) or just a missed opportunity (ie that “Free Box Event” is over, you snooze, you lose kinda thing). I mean I’m not that broken up about it, I have everything in it (even the new stuff, I mean, but a free chance and extra donuts is always nice).
Nevermind, I see in your Easter Blog that the Mystery Box bit comes up when Burns is next free. Cool! Thanks!
Mr. burns will need to be free to trigger the box stuff..
Check again. See if another update.
Will this mystery box be in the five day prizes as well or will you have to buy it?
Yes it should still be awarded every 5 days
freebie got 30 donuts (woohoo!) spent 6 of those on another box & got a fallout shelter (that I already had). oh well.
VERY pleased with my Mystery Box run. Started of with Blue Haired Lawyer in my free box and my paid boxes included Lard Lad, Itchy Billboard, News Van, Kearny and 10 donuts, along with the expected duplicates of regular items I already have (ONDA, bomb shelter, Klav Stand). But even factoring in the donuts “wasted” on the dupe items, it’s still an amazing haul for my total donut cost. Hats off to EA!
The Kwik-E-Mart pricing scale changed, too. I just bought one for $520, and after the build started the price went up. Interesting.
