Superheros Takedown Has Arrived

Update 7pm EDT: If you’re just downloading both the App Store update and the Easter Update at the same time the Easter update will start up first.  However, get past the initial dialogue with Ned & Homer first and then get past the Gil Dialogue and the Mystery Box questline should start up.  However, now Mr. Burns MUST be free to trigger it.  It will no longer auto start.  So make sure Mr. B is free and you should see the ! to start it.

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The Superheros Takedown is finally in our app stores…a day late but still a welcomed sign!  This download will remove the event from our games (however the Beach House, Bart Cave & Rad Station Air Fortress will remain, until they expire in about a week, 4/7).

Note: So far this is only live on iOS.  Will update when it hits others Update is now available on all platforms

appstore1

So be sure to head over to your app store and download the removal….

There is one new change to the game…a refurbished Mystery Box!  Back with more details on this in a bit (just have to verify)…

In the meantime remember to reset your Confirm Donut Spend Button once you’ve downloaded the newest version AND be sure to go into your App Settings and turn off notifications again (if you want them off).  Mine were off, but then Homer said he better put on pants so I knew they needed to go back off (not ideal chatter for the workplace 😉 )

So now let’s get to those new details…

When you first start up TSTO after the takedown has been downloaded from the App Store you’ll see some dialogue popup between Mr. Burns & Smithers…

Mr. Burns: Mystery box sales are down again this month! How could something that once topped the charts every week fall so far out of favor with the public?
Smithers: Actually sir, that’s to be expected. People experienced the mystery box, they enjoyed it for a while, and now they’ve moved on.  Perhaps we could come up with something else to sell them — something new and original!
Mr. Burns: Yes yes, we’ll get to that. But first we have to do everything we can to keep them interested in spending money on the old thing!
Smithers: Really, sir? Wouldn’t it make more sense just to appreciate the mystery box for what it was and just remove it from the store? Let it die with dignity?
Mr. Burns: Die? With dignity? I intend to do neither of those things. And the mystery box won’t either!  Change the interface! Offer a promotion! Rebalance the economy! Inspire nostalgia! We need to try anything and everything we can to keep it afloat!
Smithers: I suppose we could offer a new set of prizes for the mystery box.
Mr. Burns: That’s a start… but I was hoping for something more superficial.
Smithers: A new icon?
Mr. Burns: Excellent.

box1

Yes it’s a whole new look and feel to the Mystery Box…

Tapped_Out_Mystery_Box_Revised

box2

And the first one is free….

The box will regularly cost 6 donuts:
box3

And here’s a look at the new prizes they’ve added to the box:

First, some old items are still there.  The Lemon Tree is still there (as it’s the only way to get it!), Squeaky Voice Teen is still there, as are the options to get 10 and 30 donuts, Lard Lad Donuts is still there and of course the Tire Fire remains a Mystery Box prize.

But now here’s what they’ve added….

Blue Haired Lawyer 2Blue Haired Lawyer (worth 90 donuts)
kearneyKearney (worth 60 donuts)
channel6newsvanChannel 6 News Van (worth 40 donuts)
itchyscratchybillboard_menuItchy & Scratchy Billboard (worth 40 Donuts)
200px-Tapped_Out_Chalmer's_1979_ondaChalmer’s 1979 _ONDA (Worth $9,800)
100px-Tapped_Out_Bomb_ShelterBomb Shelter (worth $5,600)
minnowpondMinnow Pond (worth $4,500)
khlavkalashstand_menuKhlav Kalash Stand (worth $760)

A note of warning….remember a lot of the items are unique.  So if you already have BHL, Kearney, the Tire Fire or SVT you’re more likely to get one of the other prizes.  So be prepared for a Minnow Pond, Stand or something else.

And just for a bit of reference…in my D game, where I’m at a low level (Level 11) and have nothing my first box awarded me 10 Donuts.

In my A game, where I’m at Level 50 and have at least 1 of Everything in the Box already my first box awarded me 30 donuts.

Now there are a few other changes as well..

constructionsite_transimage

First, you can now store the Radioactive Man Statue.  So if you’re sick of looking at it you can now tuck it away in storage!  (and I checked, so far nothing from Superheros can go in Krustyland)

Another new change is purchasing in game cash!  I know something we encourage you to NEVER do.  It’s not wise to spend donuts on in game currency.  Not when donuts are so hard to get (or you spend real cash on them) and in game currency is fairly easy to obtain (in comparison).  Nevertheless there are still some changes to purchasing in-game currency with donuts.  So let’s go over those now…

First it’s important to note that the higher the level you are the more cash you’ll get for your donuts.  Here’s the breakout at Level 50:

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_1 – $11,750 will cost you 9 Donuts

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_2– $58,750 will cost you 30 Donuts

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_3 – $141,000 will cost you 65 Donuts

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_4 -$235,000 will cost you 100 donuts

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_5 – $705,000 will cost you 285 Donuts

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_6 – $1,410,000 will cost you 550 Donuts

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_7 $2,820,000 will cost you 1,000 Donuts

Again this will vary depending on your level.  The above numbers reflect it if you’re on Level 50.  As you increase your level over level 9 you’ll start to increase the payout for each one.  I’m not going to get into to much detail with this because we honestly do not encourage you to do this in your games.  Do not spend donuts for in game cash…it’s just not worth it (at any level).

House Farm Changes (and General Price Changes)

There are also rumors floating around about EA limiting House Farmers.  For those of you that don’t know, House Farmers are people who have areas of there towns that are covered in houses.  It’s a way to earn more income or a way to make sure your neighbors always have something to tap.  Not sure about EA limiting the number of houses you can build, as I’m not a house farmer.  But I can tell you they have increased the pricing of houses.

Just as an example the Brown House…

The Simpsons Tapped Out Brown House

In my game it now costs $1100 for 1 Brown House.  Originally it was only $355.  It looks like the more you have the higher the pricing.  Here’s some examples from my game (and again i don’t house farm, I do have several of each type of house as part of my residential areas)

Again these are examples from my game.  Your pricing may differ…the original price however is what the house cost prior to the update.

purple housePurple House- Originally $1100, now $2750 (I have 4)

BLue houseBlue House- Originally $1800, now $5,000 (I have 4 in my game & 1 in inventory)

thesimpsonstappedoutpinkhousePink House- Originally $3400, now $4,800 (I have 2)

thesimpsonstappedoutwhitehouseWhite House- Originally $7,700, now $16,500 (I have 6)

Orange houseOrange House- Originally $24,500, now $28,000 (I have 1 in inventory)

And I currently have 5 (+2 in inventory) Brown Houses

So it looks like the more you have of a certain house the higher the price goes.  There’s also a notion that if you have a certain number of 1 type of house it will cap you and prevent you from buying more.  I tried this in my D game…i was able to continue building Brown Houses well into the 30s.  However…the pricing did cap on the Brown House once I built 25 homes.  And the cap was $17,300.

So I think it’s safe to say…yes they’ve added some higher pricing elements to the game, but no there’s no cap on the number of houses you can build.  There is however a cap on the pricing increase.  And it looks like around 25 of the same house built the pricing will stabilize and no longer increase.

Hopefully that housing info makes sense, I’ll try to get more details and play around with the caps when I can.

For now that’s in on the new info for this Takedown update!  Enjoy your free Mystery Box and I hope you all get loads of premium goodies! 🙂

What do you think of the Mystery Box?  What item did you win with the free one?  Thoughts on the new housing price scale?  How about the ability to store the Radioactive Man Statue, have you stored it already?  Will you be using donuts to buy cash?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. House-farmer here. Not ashamed of it, not proud of it. Just am.

I’m torn between cashing in my house farms (for about 27 mil) or continue to harvest them for 10 mil a month.

Has anyone cashed in their house farms yet? Am I putting way too much thought into this?

  2. Very pleased to get Lard Lad with my free box. Like the dialogue said that first free one is definitely pulling me in… help me… grab my ankle… pull me out… 😀

  3. Important question – I played 24 times (including free and then 50 donuts total because of winning some as I went) but I never got Lard Lad, which I reeeeeeallly want….. Several people have claimed to get it from these posts but I notice your official post does not list this as a mystery box prize. Is it in there or not? I need to know before I waste any more donuts since I already have all the good prizes now except that. Please and thank you.

    • It lists it as a returning prize…before the new prizes listed (small paragraph above it). It’s in there, but you only have about a 2% chance of getting it

      • Boo 🙁 Seems like everyone else got lucky. Well, they’ve got me pretty hooked. I’ve been sitting on my hands for about 2 hrs debating buying more!

      • You guys are so sweet!! I thought I already posted as a reply here, but in the end, I bought just one more box. Turned out to be 30 donuts, so if course, I bought just one more……and I got Lard Lad! Super happy. But your comments made me even happier. Thanks so much.

    • Sorry for you, but I grabbed you Lard Lad 😛
      (I’ve won four Lard Lads!)

    • This is one of those times I wish TSTO had a way of giving items to other players.

You want a Lard Lad, I have four of them. I’d gladly “give” you one if there was a way to do so.

  4. The mystery box is awesome. I bought a few, and then got one with 30 donuts in it, which allowed me to play 5 more times. I got Kearny, Blue Haired Lawyer, Lard Lad Donuts, the Tire Fire, and several other things that I’d never rationalize spending my donuts on.

  5. I went full rampage and spent all my 87 donuts on mystery boxes. Actually donuts well spent! I got the news car with the freebie and the squeaky voice teen with the box I bought. That’s why I decided to keep spending. I got: three times the 30 donuts, 2 times the 10 donuts, big lad lard donut store TWICE, kearney, blue haired lawyer, 3 more news Wagons, two itchy and scratchy bilboards, the tyre fire, finally got the lemon tree, 4 minnow ponds, 4 food carts, 4 bomb shelters and 3 or 4 superintendent cars (that Brown one). It was quite fruitiferous! The characters and premiums alone were very much worth it 🙂

  6. I guess so much for hoping the housing price increase was just some cruel April fools joke… I do like the new mystery box, I never bought one before yesterday and the free 5th day prize never gave me anything good; I got some pretty decent stuff from it yesterday.

  7. Complicated question here. Since Amazon doesn’t have the update, but I updated the game on another Google device, can I, on the Amazon device, still play “pre-update”? As in , go buy a million dollars worth of houses? And then sell them on my google device? Both device use the same EA login, just a one gamer.

    • Unfortunately not. Once you’ve triggered your game on a newer update you can’t revert back to the old one. However, it is odd that Amazon hasn’t gotten the update for you yet. Across the board we’ve had players on Kindle say they’ve gotten it.

    • Nope, just tried, screen comes up, days update is required, but again, Amazon has no update. Guess I could try to uninstall, install…

  8. Jeff Smallwood

I Tap on a Kindle. I love the game. Just started last Thanksgiving and now at level 50. I am looking forward to getting all the Easter items I have seen at other neighbors but I have not updated yet. I have done the basic stuff to get it to happen but nothing. HELP… what do I do?

    • Contact Amazon. The update should be out for you, as it’s out for other kindle players. So contact them and let them know what’s going on they’ll be able to tell you what’s happening in your game.

  9. Handsome Pete

Hahaha I can´t believe it. I am a house farmer and hat a purple farm with 471 houses … which I replaced with a blue house farm. Now I have the 471 purple houses in the inventory (as I never sold them) and additional 206 blue houses I had to switch to storage because of ground shortage. Can sell a house for 54.000 so a total of more than 36 million credits in the inventory …. Sit-N-Rotate and Fortress of Shoclitude, here I come 😀

  10. Oh AND I got the blue haired lawyer in my free mystery box!
    *happy dance*

  11. Today was a good day to be a house farmer.
I had about 400 blue and 400 purple houses.
    Bought at about 2,000 each
Sold all bar 10 of each at 54,000 each
    Profit of 52,000 x 800 = 41,600,000
Bought all the aspirational buildings and land I still needed then wet to town on the blood mobiles and have levelled up 5 times earning 15 more donuts.
    Hurrah!

  12. I have 23 blue houses in my game (they’re all nicely laid out on streets with space between and decorations), and my next one will cost me 200,000. 10 purple houses, next will be 11,000. So I guess I’m done with residential areas for awhile 😉 On the plus side, I almost bought a 2nd Krusty Burger last night but had just bought Ah! Fudge and didn’t have any money left. Good thing, because this morning after the update it was only 2600.

I received a Chalmers ONDA in my free mystery box, but my husband got the Tire Fire. I thought about buying another box and trying again but I got Squeaky Voice Teen when I first started playing, and didn’t want to get greedy and wind up with a minnow pond or something. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for my next free box.

This is my first Easter and I was super happy to see Johnny Fiesta’s for cash. My husband bought the Blocko but I’m saving up for Lurene; maybe next year if it comes back again.

  13. I got the news van in my free mystery box yesterday and reading all the comments on here made me wonder if I should spend some donuts on trying to get more. I’m usually hesitant to do so (I lost my very first donuts on homer buddha’s thinking I’d get the statue as I didn’t understand the game yet 😉 ) but seeing everyone so lucky made me eager to try. Anyway, I logged to my game just now and saw that I was due my fifth day mysterybox and I got the BHL! So no donuts spend yet and two premium items already 😀 I, for one, am very happy!

  14. I downloaded the update from the AppStore this morning and Easter downloaded as well. However, I did not get any of the dialogue between Mr Burns and Smithers, went straight to the Easter chat. Does that mean I miss out on my free mystery box? Or do Mr Burns and Smithers need to be free (currently on a task).

  15. So I bought a new mystery prize box and my first prize was Kearney and being a freemium player this is great buy for me, I got a premium character for only 6 precious donuts now that’s a bargain my friends.

  16. I house farm (in a very segregated part of my town so it doesn’t get in the way)… it was the only way to make progress through the early part of the game without getting bored and being cash-poor.

I have 350-400 white houses, and the additional build price is now $192,000.
I also have 48 purple houses in storage, and the price on those is now $216,000.

Odd that the white (originally a much more expensive house) caps out lower.

    • For any newbies who may be reading this, house farms are not the only way to make progress early in the game and avoid being cash poor (in fact, it takes a while to make back what you spend to buy those houses, even before the recent price hike). I didn’t house farm and did fine using two other strategies – using short duration tasks for my characters (generally, 1-hour tasks, as much as possible) and getting and visiting 100 neighbors faithfully. With those strategies, I was able to keep my town looking nice and my land purchases to a minimum. On the downside, it probably does take more time than house farming.

      • Yep, now the newbies will have to do it the hard way — no more big house farms! BTW, using the old pricing, blue houses paid for themselves after collecting 12 times, but there was also the land cost to consider, of course.

  17. I just got lard lad donuts!

  18. Got the Tire Yard on my free box. As I had 12 donuts left I bought two boxes:

    Food stand (meh)
    10 Donuts

So I bought another box and got the BHL. 🙂

Does anyone know if this is limited or are the chances pretty good to get these over the next weeks and months. I’m waiting for the Lard Donuts for more than three years now. 🙂

    • Supposedly it’s supposed to end on April 30th. But I don’t know if that’s just the price drop or the new items. I’m assuming by then most people will have won everything worth winning anyway.

  19. I don’t need to save up for the BHL anymore, like I was planning to, as he’s mine from my free box! Made me guffaw in disbelief LOL Tomorrow is my Day 5, so I wonder what I’ll get out of that.

  20. I guess the mystery box is broken – in our favor.
    Got
    *tire fire from free (40)
    *squeaky voiced teen (30)
    *kearney (60)
    *BHL (90)
    *2xitchy-scratchy billboard
    *Lardy lad donuts (110)
    *30 donuts
    *2 ponds
    *3 ondas
    *kalash stand
    *2 news van (40)

started with 70 donuts and spent them all, in return got
more than 400 donuts worth of stuff.

  21. I missed the initial dialogue for the mystery box. Then discovered Burns was ‘hiding’ from me (Not showing in the census). So I stored the cooling towers. For whatever reason, it wouldn’t fit where it was. But when I placed the towers Burns was back.

Was just as ‘lucky’ as many others (BHL, 10D, Billboard, pond, and finally Lard Lad) all for 14 D’s!

  22. The Radioactive Man Statue now has a 7h income called “Remembering a hero” and it’s has a $175 payout and some XP.

  23. New Mystery Box – Yay!
    New House Prices – Boo!
You can’t win them all when it comes to EA (shrugs)

  24. I didn’t get the dialogue or the free mystery box… doe the two need to be free?

  25. free mystery box I got BHL.
Came on here this morning and seen everyone talking about how much luck they had in there boxes, so spent donuts for the first time (ended up 10 boxes – 60 donuts) so I got Kearny, squeeky, lardlad, 2 x channel 6 vans, itchy and scratchy billboard, 2 x ponds, car & bomb shelter….
With prizes like that I feel like a gambler and want to keep spending 🙁

  26. Im a guy the casinos would love. I always lose more than I win and when I got the initial 10 donuts earlier I didnt get that much excited knowing how crappy my luck is. Sure enough I got the tire fire. A premium item sure but I really only want the characters in the prize pool. I tried another box offsetting the cost with 2 more of my very own donuts and got the minnow pond. Yarp, the streak goes on so I went back to sleep. Remember what I said about casinos loving me is that Im really addicted to gambling even tho Im a sure loser lol. So late on in the day, those boxes kept nagging at me… ‘only 6 donuts’ it said… that and scores of people here posting about getting kearney et al and ultimately I broke. Just one box this time I told myself and poof! Squeaky voiced teen! Not too shabby… the voice kept nagging. ‘Buy anooooother onnnneeee…’ I spat at the wind and…. boom! Blue haired lawyer! Finally my luck has changed. I quit while I was ahead. Ohwho am I kidding. Now that I won, I knew I had to keep going to get Kearney. So I made up my mind and rolled the dice again. 30 donuts! woohoo! Went all in one more time and this time got Kearney! Whew, this is the most exciting day in TSTO for me. I got 40 donuts for free. Spent 36 but got Tire fire, Minnow pond, Squeaky Teen, BHL and Kearney. Im basically up 4 donuts and four premium items. Its a great steal. So if any of you are still on the fence about the risk, I say strip down to your bday suits and do some jumping jacks while peeing on the wind! lol The prizes offerred are worth the small buy in and I think the EA house wants us to win this time. This time tho Im really quitting while way ahead. Well, only until they include another character in the prize pool. Stay tapping tappers! 🙂

    • i’m right there with you on being the kinda guy casinos love (always lose more than i win), though i’ve never been big on gambling because of it. so when we started winning big with these mystery boxes, i thought maybe it was my son’s magic touch that brought us 2 lard lads and then some. but then i gave it a try myself, and sure enough winner winner chicken dinner! i saw the odds of getting each item posted on another site, and it seems like the three items with the highest chance are all premium (bhl, tire fire, svt). so you are right, ea house definitely wants us to win this time, and i know i’ve fully taken advantage of it already! i guess the question now is: how many more news vans and lard lads do i want?

  27. My TSTO is set so that I have to manually complete app store updates — no auto updates for me — so when I read here that the prices of houses were changing with the update, I went ahead and bought a bunch of blue houses (and even a few white houses) before letting the update run. My original blue houses and other buildings in the areas where I set them are in storage for now. Thanks for the heads up.

Waiting for Burns and Smithers to be free to do the mystery box trip but so far it looks like everyone is having a blast with those — I hope they don’t change them back.

  28. Woo BHL & news van 30 donuts and a pond not too bad 🙂

  29. I take it all back… I’m a very happy camper now! I won 30 donuts I my free Mystery Box, then got a bomb shelter and stopped. After reading that SO many people were getting things like BHL and Kearney, and afraid that maybe EA was being extra generous for April Fool’s day or something, I decided I should go ahead and risk up to the 30 donuts I had just won. And, guess what? I got Kearney, a billboard, and BHL! I felt more than satisfied at that point, and I still have 6 of my original 30 donuts left, so, all in all, a HIGHLY profitable day! 😀

  30. No update, Amazon purchased. Did a hard restart, nothing, gonna try my Google account…
