Superheros Takedown Has Arrived

Update 7pm EDT: If you’re just downloading both the App Store update and the Easter Update at the same time the Easter update will start up first.  However, get past the initial dialogue with Ned & Homer first and then get past the Gil Dialogue and the Mystery Box questline should start up.  However, now Mr. Burns MUST be free to trigger it.  It will no longer auto start.  So make sure Mr. B is free and you should see the ! to start it.

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The Superheros Takedown is finally in our app stores…a day late but still a welcomed sign!  This download will remove the event from our games (however the Beach House, Bart Cave & Rad Station Air Fortress will remain, until they expire in about a week, 4/7).

Note: So far this is only live on iOS.  Will update when it hits others Update is now available on all platforms

appstore1

So be sure to head over to your app store and download the removal….

There is one new change to the game…a refurbished Mystery Box!  Back with more details on this in a bit (just have to verify)…

In the meantime remember to reset your Confirm Donut Spend Button once you’ve downloaded the newest version AND be sure to go into your App Settings and turn off notifications again (if you want them off).  Mine were off, but then Homer said he better put on pants so I knew they needed to go back off (not ideal chatter for the workplace 😉 )

So now let’s get to those new details…

When you first start up TSTO after the takedown has been downloaded from the App Store you’ll see some dialogue popup between Mr. Burns & Smithers…

Mr. Burns: Mystery box sales are down again this month! How could something that once topped the charts every week fall so far out of favor with the public?
Smithers: Actually sir, that’s to be expected. People experienced the mystery box, they enjoyed it for a while, and now they’ve moved on.  Perhaps we could come up with something else to sell them — something new and original!
Mr. Burns: Yes yes, we’ll get to that. But first we have to do everything we can to keep them interested in spending money on the old thing!
Smithers: Really, sir? Wouldn’t it make more sense just to appreciate the mystery box for what it was and just remove it from the store? Let it die with dignity?
Mr. Burns: Die? With dignity? I intend to do neither of those things. And the mystery box won’t either!  Change the interface! Offer a promotion! Rebalance the economy! Inspire nostalgia! We need to try anything and everything we can to keep it afloat!
Smithers: I suppose we could offer a new set of prizes for the mystery box.
Mr. Burns: That’s a start… but I was hoping for something more superficial.
Smithers: A new icon?
Mr. Burns: Excellent.

box1

Yes it’s a whole new look and feel to the Mystery Box…

Tapped_Out_Mystery_Box_Revised

box2

And the first one is free….

The box will regularly cost 6 donuts:
box3

And here’s a look at the new prizes they’ve added to the box:

First, some old items are still there.  The Lemon Tree is still there (as it’s the only way to get it!), Squeaky Voice Teen is still there, as are the options to get 10 and 30 donuts, Lard Lad Donuts is still there and of course the Tire Fire remains a Mystery Box prize.

But now here’s what they’ve added….

Blue Haired Lawyer 2Blue Haired Lawyer (worth 90 donuts)
kearneyKearney (worth 60 donuts)
channel6newsvanChannel 6 News Van (worth 40 donuts)
itchyscratchybillboard_menuItchy & Scratchy Billboard (worth 40 Donuts)
200px-Tapped_Out_Chalmer's_1979_ondaChalmer’s 1979 _ONDA (Worth $9,800)
100px-Tapped_Out_Bomb_ShelterBomb Shelter (worth $5,600)
minnowpondMinnow Pond (worth $4,500)
khlavkalashstand_menuKhlav Kalash Stand (worth $760)

A note of warning….remember a lot of the items are unique.  So if you already have BHL, Kearney, the Tire Fire or SVT you’re more likely to get one of the other prizes.  So be prepared for a Minnow Pond, Stand or something else.

And just for a bit of reference…in my D game, where I’m at a low level (Level 11) and have nothing my first box awarded me 10 Donuts.

In my A game, where I’m at Level 50 and have at least 1 of Everything in the Box already my first box awarded me 30 donuts.

Now there are a few other changes as well..

constructionsite_transimage

First, you can now store the Radioactive Man Statue.  So if you’re sick of looking at it you can now tuck it away in storage!  (and I checked, so far nothing from Superheros can go in Krustyland)

Another new change is purchasing in game cash!  I know something we encourage you to NEVER do.  It’s not wise to spend donuts on in game currency.  Not when donuts are so hard to get (or you spend real cash on them) and in game currency is fairly easy to obtain (in comparison).  Nevertheless there are still some changes to purchasing in-game currency with donuts.  So let’s go over those now…

First it’s important to note that the higher the level you are the more cash you’ll get for your donuts.  Here’s the breakout at Level 50:

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_1 – $11,750 will cost you 9 Donuts

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_2– $58,750 will cost you 30 Donuts

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_3 – $141,000 will cost you 65 Donuts

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_4 -$235,000 will cost you 100 donuts

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_5 – $705,000 will cost you 285 Donuts

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_6 – $1,410,000 will cost you 550 Donuts

Tapped_Out_Grind_Pack_7 $2,820,000 will cost you 1,000 Donuts

Again this will vary depending on your level.  The above numbers reflect it if you’re on Level 50.  As you increase your level over level 9 you’ll start to increase the payout for each one.  I’m not going to get into to much detail with this because we honestly do not encourage you to do this in your games.  Do not spend donuts for in game cash…it’s just not worth it (at any level).

House Farm Changes (and General Price Changes)

There are also rumors floating around about EA limiting House Farmers.  For those of you that don’t know, House Farmers are people who have areas of there towns that are covered in houses.  It’s a way to earn more income or a way to make sure your neighbors always have something to tap.  Not sure about EA limiting the number of houses you can build, as I’m not a house farmer.  But I can tell you they have increased the pricing of houses.

Just as an example the Brown House…

The Simpsons Tapped Out Brown House

In my game it now costs $1100 for 1 Brown House.  Originally it was only $355.  It looks like the more you have the higher the pricing.  Here’s some examples from my game (and again i don’t house farm, I do have several of each type of house as part of my residential areas)

Again these are examples from my game.  Your pricing may differ…the original price however is what the house cost prior to the update.

purple housePurple House- Originally $1100, now $2750 (I have 4)

BLue houseBlue House- Originally $1800, now $5,000 (I have 4 in my game & 1 in inventory)

thesimpsonstappedoutpinkhousePink House- Originally $3400, now $4,800 (I have 2)

thesimpsonstappedoutwhitehouseWhite House- Originally $7,700, now $16,500 (I have 6)

Orange houseOrange House- Originally $24,500, now $28,000 (I have 1 in inventory)

And I currently have 5 (+2 in inventory) Brown Houses

So it looks like the more you have of a certain house the higher the price goes.  There’s also a notion that if you have a certain number of 1 type of house it will cap you and prevent you from buying more.  I tried this in my D game…i was able to continue building Brown Houses well into the 30s.  However…the pricing did cap on the Brown House once I built 25 homes.  And the cap was $17,300.

So I think it’s safe to say…yes they’ve added some higher pricing elements to the game, but no there’s no cap on the number of houses you can build.  There is however a cap on the pricing increase.  And it looks like around 25 of the same house built the pricing will stabilize and no longer increase.

Hopefully that housing info makes sense, I’ll try to get more details and play around with the caps when I can.

For now that’s in on the new info for this Takedown update!  Enjoy your free Mystery Box and I hope you all get loads of premium goodies! 🙂

What do you think of the Mystery Box?  What item did you win with the free one?  Thoughts on the new housing price scale?  How about the ability to store the Radioactive Man Statue, have you stored it already?  Will you be using donuts to buy cash?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I was going to ask if it was rare to get blue haired lawyer but reading the comments i think not (i get him in the free Box) in my 5th day i hope i get another premium thing :D.I have LOTS of white house before the update but i only got 200 for 1 house i was specting they were going to give me like 1000…The white house in my house cost 194200

    • Sorry 1 white house cost 192000 in my springfield and i can sell 1 for 48000.Maybe i sell them and i let the space for buildings

  2. I was so happy to get the blue haired lawyer, many a time I almost spent my sprinklies on him just to cancel at the last second. It completly made my day. Now I can spend my donuts on Sherry Bobbins, a character I’ve been waiting for all year ^_^

  3. thunder_bl356

Oh SNAP. Just got a mystery box, from 5 days of consecutive play : blue haired layer 😁

  4. Just noticed radioactive statue has a pay out of 150 every 8 hours

  5. Hi! Did the mystery box take over the Homer Buddha or did I miss something?

  6. I am a freemium player, so after reading some on this site, there were a few things I wanted to take a shot at getting via the mystery box update. I’m glad I did! Just happened to be my 5th day in a row today, so I got one free: it held 10 donuts! That put me to 270 (I still need to get Barney’s Bowlarama, but couldn’t bring myself to spend almost all my donuts on one thing right now). Anyway, then I bought a four more boxes, and got (in order) the Bomb Shelter, the Khlav Kalash Cart, the Blue Haired Lawyer, and the Itchy and Scratchy billboard (my first!). So I now have 246 donuts (spending 24), and I got two premiums worth 130 donuts total (90 for BHL and 40 for billboard) and two items worth $6,360 (stand and bomb shelter). Only other premium item I don’t have is Kearney, and maybe a news van, so I may quit while I’m ahead. Of course, that next box could be 30 donuts… Ha!

  7. Whoa I tried purchasing the mystery boxes after reading some satisfied comments here. I spent 66 donuts and LUCKILY get all these items in return!!
    1. Itchy $ Scratchy billboard (from the free one)
    2. SQUEAKY VOICE TEEN
    3. BLUE HAIRED LAWYER
    4. The stand
    5. Channel 6 news van
    6. Minnow pond
    7. LARD LAD’S DONUT
    8. TIRE FIRE
    9. Chalmer’s car
    10. Another chalmer’s car
    11. The stand
    12. KEARNEY

Well I got so many nice items worth much more than I spent 😀

  8. This might be a dumb question w a simple answer, but I can’t find the mystery box in my store! I’m sure I saw it yesterday, but I wanted to wait til today for my free one and 5-day box…both gave me Chalmers’ car :S Now I actually want to buy some and I can’t find it anywhere!

Thanks for all you guys do, and Hoppy Easter!

  9. As the regulars here know, I am a freemium player in this game. During the last event, I was trying to save enough donuts to get the pig, but ended the event four donuts shy of what I needed. After reading about everyone’s luck with the mystery boxes, I waited for the dialogue (Burns was busy when the event started, so had to wait until later). I’m going to list the haul here, and I’m not going to consolidate it because there’s an interesting pattern — if anyone else has seen this, please feel free to add your own comments. Note that I already had a lemon tree, SVT, bomb shelters, a minnow pond, and a news van when I started.
Free box: Tire Fire (Cool, been wanting it but limited time items took priority — my neighbors can probably guess exactly where it will go, too!)
    Then: 10 donuts
    Bomb shelter
    Khlav Kalash
BHL (Dialogue: “Guess I just came into this game pro bono!”)
    I&S Billboard
    10 donuts
    Bomb shelter
Khlav Kalash (this is starting to feel like a pattern!)
    Kearney
    I&S Billboard
    10 donuts
Bomb shelter (well, if it’s a pattern, there should be another Khlav Kalash next, but…)
    Minnow pond (broke the pattern)
Lard Lad Donuts (Cool! I also applied my Christmas skin to this right away)
News van (duplicate, but 2% bonus is nice)
    🙂 30 donuts (woot woot!)
    1979 _ONDA
    Bomb shelter
    Khlav Kalash
News van (gonna have these all over town, soon)
    I&S billboard
    10 donuts
    Bomb shelter
    Minnow pond
Lard Lad Donuts (OK, another pattern? Next should be news van, then 30 donuts)
I&S Billboard (ok, not what I expected, but I’ve gotten donuts after every billboard, so let’s try one more)
30 donuts (woot woot, and stopped here since the next two items after every donuts have all been duplicates of non-premium items)

All in all, a good haul! My bonus multiplier went up quite a bit, some things I’ve wanted but couldn’t afford are in my inventory. I’ve used one of the billboards to make a new I&S sign for my I&S compound, and, and, and… Wow!

    • Regarding the houses: Saw the site before I did the update, so I went ahead and stored nearly all of my blue and pink houses, and planted 182 new blue houses in the same space. At the old price, of course. After the update, I’ve sold a few dozen of the stored houses to the tune of nearly $5,000,000 in cash. In real life, they’d probably arrest someone for insider trading or something, LOL. Now I’m actually considering reducing the size of my house farm and freeing up this space — the cash will last a long time, and a smaller house farm will ensure neighbors still have things to tap.

  10. I have a 110 blue houses, and now buying a single blue house would cost me $216,000. Sheesh!

    • Mr. Sparklez47

Hey me too! Tho I have 210 houses (got 208 of them in storage) and to buy another costs $216,000. Maybe they just stop up-ing the price after a certain amount of houses? Eh, oh well, didn’t need anymore anyway…

  11. I did great! BHL, Kearney, SVT, Lard Lad, tire fire, 2 vans, 2 billboards, several ponds, shelters, stands and donuts(70, that I respent). Started with 48 donuts, have 4 left. Approx. 490 donuts worth for 44 donuts net. Yeah!! This thread gave me the courage to spend it all and I’m so happy! Thanks!

    • Leveled up, so I bought one more last night with last 6 donuts, got a van!
Got my 5 day one today, got 30 donuts!
I am /probably/ not going to buy anymore just because I’ve exhausted most of the prizes, but if there are prizes others haven’t won and want, I say, “this is THE time!”

  12. I got an itchy and scratchy bilboard in my free one. I bought one more and got Kearney. I get my 5 day one tomorrow and if I don’t win Lard Lads or the blue hair lawyer I might buy a few more.

    • Just gave in and bought 3 more. I won a minnow pond, another billboard, and then the blue haired lawyer!

  13. I got the news van in the first free one. I said I was going to wait, just get the other free ones that come from playing every day, but I couldn’t resist. I had 83 donuts, and a number of boxes later, I have blue haired lawyer, tire fire, Kearney, another news van, and some cash decos, and 59 donuts left. I want lard lad’s…but I think that 24 donuts for all that means I shouldn’t push my luck.

  14. About the house farmers … I am one ! I started with some blue houses and as it picked up I used the profits to expand and build more even blue houses. So now I have 200 … (but the largest part of my Springfield is an actual town)

So I read the part on EA trying to make it harder for house farmers, well I can tell you that my next blue house would cost me $216,000 instead of the original $1,800 … What also changed, is the resale value ! When I try to sell one of my blue houses, it would generate me $54,000 while I only paid $1,800 to build it. My farm still generates $30,000 every 8 hours (not counting the bonus % from star rating and premium items).

Seems like they changed the rules to make it harder to start farming, but for those of us who have a fully operational ‘farm’, not much has changed.

  15. i have to pay 216000 for each purple house now
    L O L

  16. Ok, I broke down my spending the best I can remember! (Gambling made me lose track of exact numbers, so I had to backtrack into my inventory to figure this out!)

My initial investment was 102 donuts (based on donuts leftover). I ended up with 47 items in my inventory. In no particular order:

    – 9 Lard Lad Donuts
    – Blue Haired Lawyer
    – Kearney
    – Squeaky Voiced Teen
    – 4 bomb shelters
    – 2 Chalmer’s 1979 _Ondas
    – 1 minnow pond
    – 2 Khlav Kalash stands
    – 13 News vans
    – 13 Itchy & Scratchy Billboards

47 items = 282 donuts total (for items alone)

    Therefore, 282 – 102 = 180 donuts in winnings from Mystery Box

which means that I got several ’30 free donuts’ and ’10 free donuts’ … The math on number of times I clicked the Mystery Box gets a little tricky here, but based on how many donuts I have left after all is said and done, I know I spent 102 initially (I keep close track of my donuts so I can save up for certain items!)

I tried posting earlier and wasn’t sure if the comment went through and then decided to actually break it down for myself on a piece of paper and I ended up with the above tally.

    • So i definitely got almost the exact same items you got in no particular order, so I probably should have stopped after I got Kearney (he was after lawyer, and teen) bc it looks like there are no more characters to get. And i don’t really need another lard lad, or vans, but I def got more kalash stands, and minnow ponds, and cars then good items, so all in I am down to about 80 donuts from 173

  17. …also can i have more than one tire fire?

  18. I cannot find find johnnys…is it in mystery box ? cannot find in store….

    • Nope it should be in the store. Expand your store (where it shows all the icons) and click on the Easter Egg, should be in there. Don’t forget to scroll left and right

  19. stephchavarin

I got a bomb shelter in my free one. It made me groan and I almost didn’t buy any- I’m mostly freemium unless I’m feeling lucky and then I buy a golden scratcher. Well a few days ago I won 50 donuts in a scratcher and since I used Google play money that I earned by answering surveys (Google Opinion Rewards, very cool) to buy the scratcher anyway, I decided what the heck and bought another box. It was a klav kalash stand and I almost threw my phone. Luckily though, I persevered against everything in my nature and took even more risk (since everyone here was reporting such great luck), and got the BHL, Kearny, tire fire, lard lad, news van, plus 40 donuts. I already had SVT, so I have almost everything (missing the billboard). This was fun! I got 340 donuts worth of stuff I’ve been eyeing forever, and it only cost 38 donuts! No real reason to buy the mystery boxes after today though…

  20. There’s a rumour the new mystery box is limited time – true?

    • Not sure if it’s the box or just the pricing…something for the box expires April 30th.

      • Maudlin Monarch.

I got the nuclear bunker as my free one, and then the tire fire, and the the Onda.
No premium characters, no Lard Lad, no news van, no extra donuts, but if there is a possible deadline, I’m wondering if I should try for more.

  21. I got Lard Land in my free box

  22. Update – I was having a stressful afternoon and caved and bought another mystery box. It was a minnow pond, just as I feared LOL. But my lovely husband urged me to try again and I got Lard Lad, which I had already purchased 😉 I then bought 2 scratchers to make up for the donuts spent since I’m saving for specific buildings, and got 50 with the first ticket and 12 with 2nd. Bought a 3rd mystery box and received the Blue Haired Lawyer and am very happy! I started the day with 208 donuts and am ending it with 252 plus BHL and a 2nd Lard Lad, for $2 in real money.

The other half bought himself some more boxes as well and wound up with Squeaky Voice Teen, Blue Haired Lawyer, a minnow pond, and a bomb shelter, in addition to this morning’s Tire Fire in the free box. He’s also very happy but we wish there was a way to transfer the extra Lard Lad to him!

Thanks EA, and thanks to this site for making us aware of the mystery box goodie extravaganza. It was a nice surprise, and we never would have bought boxes if we hadn’t read the posts here.

  23. I never got the Mystery Box dialogue… did it prompt automatically? I did my update and it went straight to Easter and then Gil

  24. I won the Blue Haired Lawyer in my freemium game, but they pulled the quest line? When I bought him way back when in my premium game, there was a quest attached. Somethin involving Judge Snyder, I think.

  25. With all this ‘good luck’ with mystery boxes I was wondering is it usually as good as this or has ea only done this for a short time to get us all to let go of our donuts (especially us freemium players).
My mystery box prizes previously where hedges and fences….

  26. I started with 70 donuts and ended with 16. Got the newsvan free, then spent and got blue haired lawyer, billboard, tire fire, lard lad, and another news van. Also got a couple of crap items and like 3 x 10 donuts. But heck yeah! I quit because I already had Kearney and the lemon tree, so what else is there?

  27. Maudlin Monarch.

As I don’t have a house farm in my town, I’m seriously thinking now of dumping every neighbour that has one. There are players that don’t want vandalism, and others that don’t care for ugly house farms. I shall be joining that second group.

    • Awww. Many a freemium player has been able to keep up (or catch up) only because of their house farms. When I was trying to finish the last couple of levels, it was still a tough grind even with a house farm, only because of the high cash price put on so many of the new items that come out.

We all remember that the elementary school was just $10,000 or so when it gets released. The Stonecutter Daycare was, what, $250,000? The strip club was how much more than that? Really? Freemium players, especially newer ones, don’t have all the bonus items that premium players have, and really do need a way to make up for it.

In my own city, my own house farms are along two edges of the board, behind walls and trees and fences, and symbolize the neighborhoods where the workers at all the stores and factories and restaurants live. In other words, those are the Springfield suburbs!

      • I hardly think you need to justify what you do in your town or why you do it, but it’s nice of you to go out of your way to try and help people understand. Frankly, I could care less whether anyone “approves” of my town from an appearance standpoint, but I would stack my town (with farm) up against anyone’s, house farm or no. You can’t stop people from hating on things they don’t like or being jealous of things they are unable to attain themselves.

Regarding the person you replied to though… I wonder if they were talking strictly UGLY house farms, like farms that dominate the town and cause it to be ugly? Or if they were saying any house farm, ALL of which they consider to be ugly? I’d argue there’s a difference, but I guess in the end, nobody is obligated to be neighbors with anybody. It’s just a game after all right?

      • @Tape — Yeah, I’d stack your town up against anyone’s also. But then, I see your town every day as it sucks five to ten minutes out of my life as I enjoy exploring it further. 🙂

    • The only reason I have a house farm is there isn’t enough land for everything ea has released. Sorry this offends you ( god knows why!?) But if I purchased it, and it makes money, its going in the town somewhere..

  28. I bought 10 Mystery Boxes. I got:
    Minnow Pond ($4500)
    10 Donuts
    Blue Haired Lawyer (90 D)
    Another Minnow Pond ($4500)
    30 Donuts
    Lard Lad (110 D)
    Bomb Shelter ($5600)
    Billboard (40 D)
    Khav Kalash ($760)
    Chalmer’s 1979 _ONDA ($9800)

So, I spent 60 Donuts and got 40 Donuts back, and picked up stuff valued at 240 Donuts and $25,160. Really great for a 20 Donut investment, but I would have done better if I’d stopped earlier.

    And here’s my house-farmer report:
Blue Houses and Purple Houses have both capped at $216,000 per house (Yikes!). The resale price will be nice when I’m ready to stop farming (I’m using it to buy land), but lucky me, I sold off some extra houses 2 days ago and missed the price bump.

  29. I got: 30 donuts, Kearney, squeaky voiced teen, blue haired lawyer, tyre fire and the itchy and scratchy billiard, and I started with just 40 donuts

  30. Buy 4 Kwik E Marts. 4 Hour build. About 2000.
Collect 10000 XP. Sell Kwik EMarts.
Buy 4(minimum price will reset). 4Hour build. Collect 10000 XP.
