In a rare evening TSTO Update, last night we received an episode tie-in update for this Sunday’s episode of the Simpsons! Only makes sense considering this Sunday is the major Treehouse of Horrors episode!
So this tie-in brings us a massive ancient pond for our Springfield’s…inside thepond? Well there’s donuts in that there pond! How do you get those donuts? Well you fish for them of course! Duh!
Anywho..there’s a fun little “creepy” questline to go along with getting those free donuts, so let’s take a look at who you need to keep free for this little questline…

Homer starts
Homer: Boy, I can’t believe I let you talk me into taking you fishing. It’s so boring.
Bart: You lost the bet, Homer, you have to act like a father for a whole hour.
Homer: Ugh. I don’t even like to eat fish. It’s so lean and protein-y and…O.M.God..there’s a donut floating in the pond! Gimme that stick!
Bart: It’s called a fishing pole. And what do you want with a soggy donut?
Homer: It will be a sad day when I pass up a donut just because it’s wet and covered in algae.
Bart: Fine. But this time I’m just dropping you off at Urgent Care. I can’t spend another Saturday waiting while you get your stomach pumped.
Homer: Deal.

Homer: Listen to you! “DON’T eat the donut?” “My father is RIGHT?” Those words don’t even make sense.
Ghost of Marge’s Father: Please Homer, all our lives depend on it. Well, not mine, I guess. I’m already a ghost.
Homer: Yeah, whatever. I’ll tell Marge you stopped by.

And there you have it my friends…the short and sweet (donut wise) little questline! Not to bad, should only take you 9hrs to complete. The downside? Well you’ll need Homer, Marge & Grampa to complete it…all characters that help earn Gummies. But at least it’s quick.

Do I have to do this tie in qwest before the show airs? I need homer on gummy duty for now and can’t spare him as Im a new player and don’t have a ton of people yet. Can I wait and get these free donuts after Ive gotten a bit further ahead of the calendar so will they go away after sunday?

I’m continuing a thread from an earlier discussion so a little off topic. Someone else was allotted a campfire upgrade even though they had stuck with zombies instead of the one their ongoing cycle was asking for. I too was able to recreate this in my game just now. I’ve got 6000+ of all items but brains because I blew them all on wailing walls. I don’t want anymore tents or sheds but would enjoy more hedges for a massive labyrinth and more wailing walls for more $$. Soooo can we stick to one nightmare until we desire not to?? Anyone else smashing zombies all day? I’m currently at level 33 for my campfire if that matters.

Clarification….it awarded me the campfire bonus for skeletons not hedges even though I was collecting zombies. And it went to the next item in line like usual.
I’m really confused. ..are you saying we can stick with zombies and still level up?
Ok that was pretty jumbled. My bad. Campfire upgrade was on skeletons but I kept brewing zombies cuz Bart was busy and just stuck with it for awhile. It then awarded me a level up and the prize for skeletons even though I had just collected 200 zombies (I think 200 but not sure since you can not see a counter).
@brooders Since act 2 hit I’ve only gone for zombies and I’ve leveled up a few times, so yes you can.
Anyone having problems placing the pond? I’ve tried to place it in every location possible in my town to no avail. It just stays red like there’s something in the way. SO frustrating since I can’t move on with that quest!!
Should be able to go right on the grass. But it is pretty massive…make sure there’s nothing in the way.
Something is definitely wrong then. I cleared several land spots and made sure there was no trash. Still can’t place it. I reported so we’ll see what happens o guess.

When I saw the pond and the dark shadow in it I thought, Nessy? But if it’s a Halloween tie in, it might be a parody of some famed Japenese Monster. thought I saw some images of it on those “press play” Fox Teasers.
Ancient Ornamental Pond, maybe it was meant to be Ancient ORIENTAL Pond.
But as usual, I COULD be wrong (…but I could be right). Either way, I’m getting ready to flee.
Just curious if anyone was experiencing the crashing problem that started since the last update and figured out a fix? I haven’t been able to get into the game at all since the update hit yesterday, despite reinstalling the game on my iphone 6 three times now.
It’s going around. My best advice right now is to contact EA
I just did, and for anyone else experiencing this the person I chatted with (over IM) said they were working on some patches to the problem. Interestingly, they also said not to try to access the game for 24 hours as “accessing the game could cause the patches to not install properly.” Not sure if that’s a real concern, but just thought I’d share.

TRY not accessing the game for 24 hours?!? The very thought leaves me cold, goosebumpy and suffering anxiety!

Maybe not the place, but twice now I’ve had my kids at the campfire, I close the game for . . . a time period not to exceed an hour or so. . . and when I return some or all of them are no longer Roasting S’mores….. and I have to reset their task – last night they were two hours in, and half of the kids quit. Now, I don’t know any kids that would quit doing something that would guarantee them sugar!!!!! 😉

This happened to me (once) after I downloaded the app store update.
Glad you mentioned this, this seemed to happen to me a couple of times, but I just assumed I had been absent-minded and forgotten to finish sending all the kids to make s’mores after a server outage or something. Possibly there has been so many updates it’s hard to keep track of changes and glitches. I also noticed something indicating my campfire had been reset to level 1, but that fixed itself.
I saw on.another page that you can.buy the talking krusty doll, but I don’t see it in my store.
You didn’t see us talking about about. Maybe in the comments….but not from us. Not for 2015. It’s not available at this time.
Have been completely unable to access my game on my iphone or my kindle fire since the update last night, EA has been unhelpful in resolving this as well. Anyone else having this issue?
Seeing a number of complaints on it…
I have the same problem. Tried my iPad, iPhone, and a family member’s Droid tablet. It will load and then crash as soon as it’s supposed to open. Have tried downloading updates, deleting the app, starting again, and nothing.
I can play the game starting from the beginning (not logging in to my account) but when I log in I have issues.
It sounds like a direct issue with your account on EA’s server. You’d have to contact them to get it fixed.
Now i see…i am central europen time, and i am glad others have the same issue….thank you for you patience….i hope, EA will solve this

At least during past events it was possible to finish side tasks after the event. This may help to determine where Homer ist most useful during the event.
only my two cents, but not all of those quests are pertinent to the THOH storylines and moving along the Act 2 items….. The Kang quest line I think is unnecessary… I’m not even trying to do anything with the Railyard, and Hugo’s quest is also unnecessary — Again, my two cents. I have around 9 tasks open, but I’m earning gummies and donuts only!
There was a THOH called “Send In the Clones”, so who knows… maybe a future event will allow cloning, I’m sure FOR A PRICE, mwahahahahaaa.
Ever since this update hit my pet cemetery has been giving me bunnies every time I log in instead of every 10 hours like it’s supposed to. Not that I’m complaining.

I had a similar thing happening last night with the cemeteries, mausoleums, snake logs, and Freak Mobiles. They’re all on an 8 hour or 12 hour timer, but if I went to visit friends and came back they were ready to harvest again. I’m still seeing the other ‘glitch’ where they don’t always spawn the correct item (for example the mausoleum will sometimes give me a handful of zombies and bunnies mixed in with skeletons and seem to exceed the count that it says – I think it spawns 12 skeletons and then I’ll get a bonus 5 bunnies or 7 zombies) Definitely not a complaint! 🙂
mmmmmm, bonus donuts….. Between the railyard, the evil shopkeeper’s challenges (20 donuts each week!), neighbor visits (I got 4 donuts in 2 days- pays to vist neighbors!), and now the pond, this has been the donuttiest couple of weeks for me in TSTO history. I’m not even concerned with losing gummy-earning players. The gummies will come. I’m a 90% freemium player so donut-earning tasks always take precedence. 🙂
All of these really easy opportunities for bonuts really has me wondering about what’s coming up in the next few months. 20 donuts is a lot to just give out several weeks in a row, it’s enough to make me suspect something big is just around the corner.
I know you guys don’t control the ads, but OMG WORDPRESS HAS THE MOST ANNOYING AD GOING RIGHT NOW. Ahem. It’s this Words with Friends thing that you literally CAN’T exit out of (at least on iPhones) and if you try to scroll around it it kicks you off the internet and takes you to the stupid app store. Refreshing doesn’t work either lol. Just wanted to get that off my chest 😊 Carry on 😊

Sure! I have an iPhone 5C so it’s probably not my device, I can exit out of most pop up ads but that one is impossible. But now since you need a SS it’ll never happen again lol. The old car makes a noise until you take it into the mechanic trope.
lol I know…i’m just really annoy with WordPress over those ads. They keep telling me that they can’t be there. And honestly, I don’t ever see them…but I’ve had enough complaints about them to know you guys aren’t just making them up. Not to mention the variety of devices…
Do you think the difference is that we have a paid account? I never see ads either, but I also pay to host my blog. Either way, I’m happy I don’t see them! How annoying.
I still see ads when I visit this or any other WP site, just not those popup ads. I’ve also tried visiting logged out of my WP account and still don’t see them. So not sure what triggers them, I just know that I’ve had enough complaints about them to know something is up.
Hi Alissa, I’ve sent a screenshot of the pop up ads I see to your email. They’ve been appearing for the past month or so I think, before that it was just the ads embedded in the page. Cheers.

I don’t get ads that I can’t x out of, but right now I get TWO ads (one horizontally along the bottom, and one vertically directly on top of it) EVERY single time I click a link or change pages (so, to get to “keep reading”, I have to x out of 4 ads. This happened a long time ago but finally stopped, and then just started again a few weeks ago. It IS extremely annoying (but again, I know it is WordPress and not the doings of anyone on this site).
They’re popup ads? Because they keep telling me they don’t do popup ads.
And can you send me a SS of them?
I am glad this has been brought up. Many times when I visit this site I am directed to an app store to sell some game and then I can`t exit out. I have to start over and many times it happens again. It is very frustrating, enough so that I thought of just not going here any more. I can go weeks without that happening, or it hits me several times in one day. I hope this can be resolved.
P.S. Thank you for everything you guys do to help us play the game well. I have all the respect in the world for this brilliant site.

Ok, so here’s the response I got from WordPress after sending them several screenshots and your comments about the ads:
“I saw your screenshot in your other email, however these do not look like ads from WordPress.com.
The reason I say this, is they’re in the wrong location (our ads appear after the content before the comments), we do not allow pop-ups (as you know), and the ads shown do not include the “About these Ads” link that we include on all out adverts.
However I have reported it to our team to investigate and get it removed if it is coming from us, so my apologies in advance if it is. As you know, our agreements should prevent popup ads from showing.”
So they are checking the site to ensure it’s not coming from here directly. They control the ads and we can’t embed anything into the site that would cause the popups. But they’re still checking to make sure we weren’t hacked with a “spammy” bug or anything. Which would be pretty hard for someone to do because then they would need to hack WordPress’ servers, not just us.
So my next question would be are you all seeing these on tablets and phones? Could be something embedded with them, maybe from another app? If it’s phones/tablets are y’all on iOS or Android?
I’m on an iPhone and TSTO is literally the ONLY app I have installed myself on my phone (not by choice, I just can’t fit ANYTHING else). The only time I ever see these ads is on the Addicts site unfortunately.
Their was a side-show Bob tie-in as well giving a new house and a tie-in with the ghost ship using various characters.

I had this done in 20 minutes being I had the donuts to do it. Great tie-in though.
My game has been running relatively well on my IPad but it got stuck after I sent Homer to ‘try to take another donut’. When the ‘tune into FOX’ notice displayed, I couldn’t clear it. The back arrow was unresponsive. I did a hard restart all is well again, or at least I hope!
Hmm… I wonder what evil will rise from the water…Is it going to be godzilla?! Wait, it’s going to be Homerzilla. Dang commercials! 🙁
Alisssa, please, can you explain, why, after last updates, i can’t log in to the game….last night, i send children to the campfire….woke up, just to find that EA release new updates, causing to loose gummies, and unable to start the game…..i tried everything, hard reset, uninstalling the game…everything was ok untill last night update.
I guess, you must tell younger players about technical recommendation and i know there are people who really love Simpson family
The kids off the campfire…I can’t explain. It’s happened to just about everyone (myself included). As far as why your game doesn’t work I can’t explain it. I don’t have access to your game. All I can suggest is try an uninstall/reinstall. Could be a corrupt file on the new download.

oh got you. How old is your phone/tablet? If it’s older than 2 years, I’d say yes probably. Just to make your experience better. But EA should work to resolve the problem.
I havet the same problem.. But my game just keeps crashing all the time. This started after the latest update..

I purchased both the pond and Sideshow Bob’s house last night, but when I played this morning they were both gone along with the donuts I spent. I repurchased the pond because I don’t mind losing the money, but I’m kinda sad about the donuts. This happen to anyone else?

You don’t actually need to have Grandpa to complete this. I am on level 19, and Grandpa’s quest just wasn’t shown at all.
