Before I get into the details of the Monorail, let me first say as of this moment on July 26th, 2016…there is a BUG/GLITCH going around with this little update.  For some of you you are unable to use your Springfield Dump to collect junk.  This is going around, although not everyone is impacted many of you are.  Best thing I can tell you to do at this point is contact EA.

Oh and for the older players…before you freak out about the donuts missing from the Rail Yard…let’s wait and see what happens in the coming weeks.  Don’t run around like chicken little…

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

So the Superheroes Sequel update brought something many of you have been requesting back to Springfield…a genuine bona-fide electrified six-car monorail!  That’s right now EVERYONE has a chance to get the famous Springfield Monorail in their pocket sized Springfields!

So here’s the deal, this post is really for those of you who missed the Monorail Event or played the event but never got the Rail Yard.  Those of you tappin’ pros who’ve had the Rail Yard for awhile now this isn’t the post for you.  You already know how the Rail Yard works..and most likely you’ve got an extensive track collection in your town already.  So for those of you whom already have your Rail Yard and tracks, consider this your “down time” in TSTO.  Spend it reorganizing your town and working on your Rail Yard tasks to earn the Tunnel.  And just hang on tight until the next big thing hits us…

For those of you who are new to TSTO, or those who just don’t have the Monorail yet…let’s break it all down for you.

Monorail

Let’s start with a couple of the most important questions…..

How Do I See the Monorail Tasks?  It’s Not Showing In my Game!

The Monorail tasks won’t trigger until you’ve reached level 20 (or higher) in TSTO.  So if you’re not seeing it yet check that XP meter it’s possible you’re just not there yet.

For those of you who have reached level 20, try a hard close and restart of TSTO. You can even try uninstalling and reinstalling.

How Long Do I Have to Complete This?

From what I can tell this is a PERMANENT addition to the game.  Meaning there is no rush to complete it…and everyone will get it eventually.  So if you’re only on level 10 right now, don’t worry this will be waiting for you when you reach Level 20.

Now, let’s take a look at the questline that pops up for you once you’ve reached Level 20:

A Rail of One City Pt. 1

Homer: This town is filthy!  We built all these dumpsters and garbage cans but no way to empty them.
Apu: I used to lure in customers with the smell of hot dogs. But the stench of week-old decaying meat…it just can’t compete with the smell of all this trash.
Cletus: I used to be able to find my house on account of all the trash piled up in front of it.  But now that’s every house.  I got no idea which one is mine.  I’ve been wandering around on the streets for weeks.
Homer: We all have, Cletus.
Lisa: We need to build the town dump.
Homer: Good idea, sweetie.  Is there room right next to Flander’s house?

Once you’ve completed this prize track you’ll move onto the weekly Rail Yard prize track, where once a week you can earn tracks, donuts and other prizes…

2016-07-26 16.07.57

And the weekly works just like you’ve been doing….collect the materials to hand in at the Rail Yard to follow that prize track.

So How Does it All Work?  How Do I Collect the Items? How do I hand them in?

2016-07-26 15.45.06

Well the beauty of this for you is we’ve got LOADS of posts about the Dump, Metal, Plastic and Glass Depots..as well as posts about the Rail Yard.  If you can think of it…we’ve most likely already answered it.  Here’s a look at the posts we’ve made on the subject:

Springfield Dump
Metal Depot
Plastic Depot
Glass Depot

And here’s the rundown on the Rail Yard itself..

Basically you collect Trash, Metal, Plastic and Glass and turn those into the Rail Yard to collect Blueprints. As you can see from the image above it’s requiring Trash for everything.  So collect 750 Trash and hand it in to earn 18 Blueprints.

Those blueprints get you closer to the prizes!

Quick Tip: DO NOT Build Monorail Tracks in/over water.  9 times out of 10 this will cause your game to crash.  So avoid the water with the tracks.

And that’s it my friends…everything you need to know about the Monorail!  How to get it and earn more tracks to build the ultimate Monorail in Springfield!

What are your thoughts on the Monorail coming back?  Were you excited to see it return?  Did you miss out last time?  Ready to build the ultimate Monorail?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Just how do you put together or assemble the four station pieces and where do you put them?

  2. I got the 2 tunnel tracks… one for in and one for out… I managed to get the entire tracks around SH and through Springfield, and added the ‘mall o rail’ station in SH… my question is there are 2 parts of my track loop that WILL NOT connect in regular Springfield.. I have moved every track around, no small straight, no large straight, even the terminals.. I can’t for the life of me connect these 2 ends so my monorail goes to a certain spot and stops. Is there a trick for connecting? Or is it because the tunnel track is slightly off? (I’ve seen posts about that).. just wondering if I am missing sometthing

  3. We need junction pieces to go from one side of the mountain to the other

  4. I’m collecting the tasks but it when it said my next prize was the tunnel it gave me a station expanse? Where is my tunnel?

  5. Hello. I am just wondering if you guys have any tips on how to assemble my monorail with all the u locked extensions. I can’t quite get the stairs to look right. Cheers.

  6. Anyone know why today my prize track after the reset show on the prizes with tha bonuts? Where’s my second tunnel and my tetanus and mall o rail stations? They will be out every week for 4 weeks via rail yard prizes but there’s no trace in my game? What happens?

    • The prize track is different each week. You may have the prize for this week already so you’ve got bonuts instead. Don’t panic just yet…

  7. Got Cobb but no Rail Yard? I didn’t get the Rail Yard the first Monorail go-around. I figured this time by the graphic that I would get Cobb and the Rail Yard at 70,000 blueprints. Bugged or intentional? Thanks!

  8. Tunnel showed up as a reward but now it’s gone and I see no way to actually build it. I must have sailed past the requirements but now I can only build track pieces.

  9. At what point do I get the tunnel?

  10. First time monorail builder here. So it only took me 2 days to get the tunnel. Is it normally this easy to finish the weekly monorail quest?

  11. ellieoftheflump

I am loving chance to build the re released monorail- thank you. I was a bit worried when I saw comments on here about things not fitting but after trying out some pieces and getting the tunnel I figured hey, start from the tunnel and work backwards and maybe I am lucky, but the squiggle where Springfield meets the Heights worked with how I have my buildings so does not look too odd.
Being sort of tidy I wish I had more straight pieces however the s shaped squiggle pieces match up and will do till I have more square ones so I shall take a chill pill, squint my eyes and be patient for the straight pieces to come along- I cannot run the monorail till I get one more at the moment as I left a space so I could build without the train running me over.
I think the only thing on my wish list shall be more straight pieces and , more space so things do not look so cluttered but I guess that shall all come in time and it is not EAs fault I want to buy everything lol

. In the meantime I am shall enjoy the Springfield Games…now where am I going to put that pin stand?
happy tapping folks and thank you to the team for the update on how things work. ellieoftheflump xx

  12. Regarding the off-by-one issue, what if EA created a fifth rail piece that’s a straight 1-square piece? Wouldn’t that fix the issue without significant turmoil?

  13. Was wondering after the 4-5 weeks of earning monorail items for the first time is done, how many track pieces will I be able to earn a week after that?

    • This week it’s 21 pieces of track… in the past it was 11 a week with donuts as the last prize so you should be able to count on that every week at a minimum.

  14. I was 1200+ blueprints away from earning the tunnel, as I wake up and log-on, I realize that I’m back to the beginning of the prize level!!

  15. I just got the monorail tunnel today, but am wondering… do we only get the one, or can we have 2? A year after getting the rail yard, I finally got enough straight pieces to make my monorail loop around my entire Springfield, and I’d like to send it to Springfield Heights, but would like to have it go in one way and come out another to keep the loop continuous.

  16. I’ve read several times about bonuts being gained from the rail yard. I have the rail yard, and a nice long track, but have never seen a way to get a free donut. Any helpful comments would be appreciated.

  17. Anyone unlock the Monorail Tunnel / mountain pass yet? I think this solves the issues most have brought up. For me the weekly rewards will reset at midnight Monday tonight, but I won’t be able to unlock the Tunnel by then. I’m not sure if I will just miss out or if it will be available for next week’s prize as well..

  18. Will there be stations added to Monorail 2016? It’s a bit pointless sending a train through Springfield Heights without a station there!

  19. James Brooks Tost

All I want is the ability to trade curves and S shaped pieces for straight ones – I have 50 curves and 40 Ss and no straight ones in my inventory

  20. How do you build the tracks through the mountain? Mine will not let me lay down any tracks connecting Heights & Springfield. Honestly don’t like this event in Tapped Out

  21. See the “event” or whatever went away, afyer i got the monorail station, how so i get tje rest?

  22. The tunnel not lining up by one square is a real pain! Thought it was great when I saw it, but it’s just too difficult moving the rest of the track layout to line up with it! Took me ages planning my track which is in SH, making sure it lined up with the roads etc. The tunnel just messes everything up! Hope ea adjusts it or it’ll just go in storage!

  23. I have the same problem! Help!

  24. Mark Fielding

It’s a real relief to read on here that I’m not the only one having the ‘one off’ problem. My monorail goes all OVER my Springfield. Moving the entire thing by one is just not possible…many monorail pieces are wedged in with no wiggle room. It would require redesigning huge parts of my town.

I sure hope they’ll address this soon. Otherwise I may just decide to ignore this update altogether.

  25. Anyone know if after the 11th prize will be possible to get the other two stations (tetanus and mall o rail) for who hadn’t participated to the monorail event on 2015?

  26. Same here. I’ve had 2 separate monorails running, one in Springfield, and a smaller one in SH. The one-off issue will require changing both. I’m waiting for the return tunnel before attempting to connect them. I was also hoping for “Y” rails.

  27. So we are forced to put the monorail between Springfield and Springfield Heights, but I think most people have their existing monorail far from Springfield Heights, so it is going to take a LOOOOONG time to get enough straight pieces to go all the way up to the mountains, around Heights and connect back through the mountain. Oy vey!

  28. I had stopped using the rail yard, the pay out of donuts was not worth it tbh.

But I just earned my first tunnel and I might keep doing it for a few weeks. It’s fun to have it back….

  29. The off issue is not hard to fix. Use the RR pieces that slant or curve to correct ur issue. Based on the Pict if u move the little piece to where the straight one is and use a slant one it will correct the issue. Again u may have to move or play around with the pieces but its fixable so don’t stress. At the end of the day its still a game.

  30. The off-by-one issue with the rails is worse than I thought. Sure, moving it all is a pain, but it’s possible, but it appears there’s an even worse aspect. If you move it all by one…then the Mall-O-Rail entrance will be off by one…

    https://simp7fan.files.wordpress.com/2016/07/mall-plus-tunnels.jpeg

That’s my design (minus the off-by-one “bug”). I don’t see how that can be resolved.
